Morgan Dane is a top notch attorney with many life issues. This is the fourth in the series and full of twists that keeps you guessing until the end. Melinda Leigh is a powerhouse in the suspense genre

Edge of my seat crazy!! This may be the best one so far. It was over before I wanted it to end. Like always the narrator is fabulous and I would recommend listening to it. The story was full of twists and turns. Love the happy ending.

Oh my word! This one starts off having you guessing if Haley Powell is really guilty of murder. Morgan Dane is the attorney for Sharp Investigations and with her cohorts, Lincoln and Lance, they work together to prove innocence … or guilt. The author has a gift for pulling you into the story and holding your attention until you’ve turned the last page. This particular book has several relationship twists and turns. I am a huge Lance Kruger fan. He is a class act and his support and affection for Morgan’s family is touching. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series! I’m sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what Sharp Investigations will get into next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

I want to give this book more than 5*s. It was a great read. The story itself was on the move from the very first page. Intense. Captivating. A must read!

Morgan and her partners, Lance and Sharp are, as always, working their butts off on a case. This one is personal for Sharp. His old friend, former partner, fallen brother’s wife comes to him about her daughter. Haley is being accused of a murder.

The way the story unfolds kept the pages turning. It was controlled chaos, but, the chaos kept the “ooh, I know who did it!” To every chapter. But then I was proven wrong. It’s a crazy, crazy, ride. The details of the story were perfectly layered with some fun and sassiness inside the chaos.

I have to say, I didn’t see the bad guy until it was too late. Which I like.

The fact that Melinda also threw in Star Wars references into the story... was amazing. My inner nerd approves.

Morgan Dane rocks. I always enjoy reading this series.

Criminal defense attorney Morgan Dane's new client Haley Powell will prove to be an extremely challenging case. Private investigator Sharpe and Lance will have their hands full with this one. Great story full of twists and turns.

Another thrilling and engrossing thriller from Melinda Leigh. Each book in the series only gets better and better.

Love Morgan Dane and Lance as a couple and each book only heightens their relationship as they work together to bring justice. Melinda Leigh is just an awesome mystery writer!

This is the 4th installment in the Morgan Dane series by Melinda Leigh. It is the best of the series so far, in my opinion. The case looks all but impossible to win, which makes for twists and turns that aren't expected. Plus the romance has a very small part throughout the story, which is perfect to me. (There is one section of the book with a focus on the romance, but it isn't the focal point of the story.)

Looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

**Received from NetGalley for my honest review.** (I didn't download before the title was archived, but still wanted to review the book as it was approved for me.)

A ending you never see coming and questions that keep running rampant through your mind as you are desperate to seek answers. This is the first book I’ve read in the series and I managed to make connections throughout the story. Excellent story!

When police find Hayley Powell, she’s covered in blood and next to the body of a man whose been stabbed to death. She’s clearly traumatised and all she keeps repeating is “What have I done?”. As a favour for a friend Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger takes on Hayley’s defence and believe despite the overwhelming evidence something isn’t quite right. So, when Morgan and Lance’s lives are repeatedly put in danger by an unknown culprit it makes them even more certain of Hayley’s innocence.

Melinda Leigh has yet again done a fabulous job of penning an engaging and fast paced mystery with plenty of twists and turns. But, it isn’t just the interesting mystery that keeps you reading it is also the characters that you have grown to know and love over the last 4 books.

What I’ve Done immediately grabs you attention. It starts from Hayley’s POV showing her waking up not remembering what happened the night before. Then realising she is covered in blood. From there the story quickly progresses and you get caught up in the investigation. As Morgan, Lance and Sharp dig up leads and possible suspects the story just gets more intriguing and whilst reading I had many theories about the who and why circling in my mind.

However, as I said above, it isn’t just the mystery that gets you hooked into this series. The characters of Morgan, Lance, Sharp and Morgan’s family also draw you in. The romance between Morgan and Lance and the father-son type relationship between Lance and Sharp give this book a warmth that shines through even as you delve into a mystery involving rape and murder.

This is another great installment in the series and I can’t wait to see what Leigh has in store next for Morgan and Lance. If you like a good mystery with a hint of romance, then this is the series for you.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of What I’ve Done by Melinda Leigh that I read and reviewed.
This was the fourth book in the Morgan Dane series and it just keeps getting better. Morgan is one of those characters you can’t help but love to follow. She seems to always end up with cases that have that want her and her clients dead and this one was not an exception.
I really enjoyed the back history between some of the characters and the twist were really great in this book. I have no choice but to give the book five out of five stars.

3.5 Hearts So I picked up this book because I have heard this authors name so many time from friends and family who enjoy her writing and after reading this I understand why. However, the problem was I didn’t realize this was the fourth in the series and I have to say I was a bit lost.

Morgan has a new client and that part is easy to follow. But the problem is Morgan herself.. And that is not really a “problem”... I wish I had read the other stories first just to understand a bit about Morgan herself. But that does not take away from the story.

I get it now. Leigh is certainly one that I will want to read again.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for my review based on my honest opinion.

This was my first thought in the Morgan Dean series, this is book number four; I can guarantee you that this is not my last book in the Morganton series and I have already put the first three books in my to be read pile. This was one of those books for you stay up late reading and I was so tired at work the next day but at least I knew how this book ended. I was immediately gripped in the first chapter with Haley waking up covered in blood discovering it wasn’t her own blood and then finding dead body and wondering what she had done, if she had done anything and what had happened. Morgan takes on her case and in the seeking of the truth and justice danger comes way too close to be comfortable. I love the relationship between Morgan and Lance, and the friendship between Morgan, Lance and Lincoln. Great book

It was a thrillride of a book, lots of twists and turns and just when I thought I knew what was going on, I was wrong, so wrong. Definitely not my last book from this author or in this series.

What I’ve Done is the fourth book in the author’s series of novels that feature former prosecutor-turned-defence attorney Morgan Dane and the men of Sharp Investigations, Lincoln Sharp and Lance Kruger, her former high school boyfriend, with whom she is again romantically involved. I haven’t read the previous three books, but this one works well as a standalone; there are a few references to prior events, but these are quickly and simply explained and I didn’t feel as though I was missing any of the information I needed to make sense of – and enjoy – this story.

Morgan is asked to take on the case of a young woman named Haley Powell who has been accused of stabbing a man to death. She woke up covered in blood in a strange bed in a strange house with no recollection of where she was or how she got there; feeling completely disoriented she got up and looked around, saw blood everywhere and found the body of the young man she vaguely remembers hooking up with the night before lying outside the back door. She’s taken into custody and is pretty much completely out of it – she’s been without medication for her Addison’s disease for longer than is advisable and its flare up is only making it harder for her to function.

Haley’s late father was a cop who was shot in the line of duty over two decades earlier, and his partner, Lincoln Sharp, vowed he’d look after his best friend’s wife and daughter. Elizabeth and Haley moved away from Scarlet Falls some time ago, but have recently returned – and it’s to Sharp that Elizabeth turns for help. He brings in Morgan, who quickly realises that Haley has been framed – but with the evidence against her seemingly overwhelming and the local media whipping public opinion into a frenzy proving it is going to be an uphill struggle.

I liked the way the story unfolds for the reader just as it does for Haley; we know what she knows to start with and our knowledge of what happened grows along with Morgan’s as she and the guys gradually put the pieces of the puzzle together. I was also impressed with the way the author portrayed the “trial by media” aspect of the story, creating a real sense of menace out of the mob mentality displayed by so many of the townsfolk who had convicted Haley of murder while knowing nothing of the truth, and who extended their hatred to Morgan and the team simply for doing their jobs.

Morgan, Lance and Sharp are engaging, fully-rounded characters who obviously like and respect each other a great deal, and while the romantic aspect is low key (Morgan and Lance are an established couple who are obviously in it for the long haul) their relationship is so well founded that it was easy to see that they care for each other deeply and that while Lance obviously wants to keep Morgan safe, he’s not one of those men who misguidedly tries to cut her out of the loop; he knows she’s smart, tough and capable and trusts her to know what she can handle.

What I’ve Done is a tense, tightly-plotted thriller that kept me guessing up until just about the last minute and eagerly turning the pages. I’m looking forward to the next in the series, and am going to try to catch up with the earlier books before Secrets Never Die comes out next Spring.

4.,5 stars/B+

Morgan Dane has a tough case ahead of her when she takes on Haley Powell as a client. She's been charged with murder, but the more Morgan and her exceptional PI team in her boss Sharp and her boyfriend/partner Lance Kruger investigate the case, the more they think Haley is being framed. Will they be able to get Haley off the charges or will the person who framed Haley do everything they can to stop Morgan from discovering the truth?

If you've never read a book by Ms. Leigh than as a reader you're missing out on some brilliant writing because her romantic suspense consist of a brilliant amount of suspense with a nice dose of sweet romance to match it. Really, the hero and heroine are always on-the-go, tracking down leads and this book certainly takes the pair on an adventurous journey to get to the truth of what happened to the man that Haley is accused of murdering.

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining and intense due to the case they're determined to solve and the obstacles they face to get to the truth. Really, I was on the edge-of-my-seat at times with worry for the main characters. Moreover, the heroine is strong, brave and I love reading bits about her back story every time I read a new book for this series. She's such an interesting heroine that has been through so much. Things that have made her the resilient admirable woman she is that lots of people want as a lawyer because she's so good at what she does. Really, she goes above and beyond in her pursuit of the truth, especially in this case that could definitely spell danger if Morgan isn't careful.

Overall, Ms. Leigh has delivered an absolutely fantastic read in this book where the investigation sets the fast-pace of the story, as Morgan and her partner get to the bottom of what really happened; and the ending had me loving what Morgan learns. Will Morgan be able to prove Haley is innocent? Certainly, it's not an easy case to figure out who was responsible for the murder. I would recommend What I've Done by Melinda Leigh, if you enjoy romantic suspense or books by authors Kendra Elliott, Laura Griffin, Mary Burton and Cynthia Eden.

I have chosen not to read and review this tile. While the blurb drew me to the story, I was not engaged with the characters or the way the story was written.

I appreciate the opportunity to review this early title and am looking forward to the next title through your company.

Thanks,
Laura

The fourth book in the Morgan Dane series finds Morgan and Lance trying to prove the innocence of their client, Haley Powell. It isn't going to be an easy job, since her fingerprints were on the weapon and she can't remember what happened. Morgan, Lance and Lincoln Sharp dodge trouble as the try and find out who the killer and save the life of their client.

I really like this series and the series that started this one, Scarlet Falls. You will even see a familiar person or 2 from that series. The story flows in a way that makes you keep reading. The author gets you invested in the characters and the mystery that will keep you reading. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Although you don't need to read the previous books in the series, I recommend it just so you know all the characters. There are references to previous books, but not too much that would make you feel that you missed something. I would also recommend reading the Scarlet Falls series as well, where Morgan was first introduced, along with her sister Stella and Lance.

Melinda Leigh, it's a pleasure as always. Enjoyable read with a nice little twist, tied up with a bow at the end.

Loved this book! I have followed Morgan in her previous cases and as usual, this one doesn't disappoint. This one was a little different as instead of opening with the usual crime, the opening scenes also involve Haley, the person that Morgan will be representing. Hard to explain without giving spoilers but I enjoyed the fact that Morgan, Lance and Sharp were working hard to prove Haley's innocence and work out what had happened that night. There were a couple of twists towards the end, which were well done and the ultimate one wasn't one I saw coming. Also enjoyed the dynamic between Morgan and Lance following on from the previous book. Without giving too much away, I was happy at the way that part unfolded. Another great read in the Morgan Dane series and can't wait to follow her next case!
