I really enjoyed the book. Loved the story plot. Approachable characters, realistic situations. Some descriptions or story „fillers” were tiny bit too long, but in overall - very good book and I’d read more by the author. Thank you, great job!

I recommend this version of Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery to fans of Anne and her adventures. But, if you are interested in classical literature and an early reader this is great for you too. Anne is a delightful girl full of imagination and devotion to those she loves. This version that starts the Anne collection is a wonderful place to start for a young reader.

What a wonderfully light-hearted classic. I wish I'd read this sooner! I feel like this is the perfect book for those who want to dip their toes into classics. Also, a wonderfully redesigned cover!

When elderly siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan boy to help with the farm chores, a mix-up sees feisty chatterbox Anne Shirley delivered to them instead. Initially determined to rectify the mistake, Anne’s obvious heartbreak stays their hand. Instantly in love with her new home in Green Gables, this is the start of the adventures of ‘Anne with an ‘e”.

Over a hundred years old now, AoGG has become a much-loved classic for several generations now. Somehow I never read it as a child, and so I decided it was past time to rectify that albeit with the worry that it might not work for an adult reader (with no nostalgia factor), or in the 21st century. Thankfully, I was wrong on both counts!

Although dealing with childhood, there’s nothing childish about the writing here, which is why I think it still stands the test of time. Instead, we get a glimpse into life in harsher, simpler times, and with the pangs of childhood having enough universal understanding to work even now.

Anne’s defining feature is her wild imagination, which is both a comfort and a curse at times. She’s absent-minded – always with her head in the clouds – and gets into a great deal of (gentle) trouble because of it. But she’s also full of life and joy and love, and even with a stubborn streak of pride, it’s hard not to warm to the little girl finally getting a decent chance at life.

The story is a very gentle meander through Anne’s early days at Green Gables, the Cuthberts’ house, bonding with them both in different ways, finding friends, and dealing with school. It doesn’t sound like much, and yet it’s easy to get caught up in Anne’s hopes and fears, albeit often with a knowing smile of adulthood over the ‘silly’ things that seem to mean so much at the time.

I’m really pleased I finally got around to this, as it’s a really lovely book. The gentler pace of life on Prince Edward Island at the start of the previous century felt soothing, somehow, and it’s pitched really well at heart-warming and hopeful, but not without realistic struggles. Still worth the read, yes!

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Anne Shirley is one of my favorite characters. She always means well, but often ends up with hilarious outcomes. Anne of Green Gables is humorous and heartwarming story. I always tell kids if you enjoy characters like Ramona Quimby or Greg Hefley, try Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables.

Such a delightful read about the young orphan girl Anne who finds a happy home with Marilla and Matthew in rural Canada. Somewhat dated in some ways (language and sentiment) I nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Anne has a strong, independent spirit making her an inspiring role model for today's young girls. A joy.

I’ve tried so many times to read and/or watch this story. But I just can’t do it. Anne is so unlikeable. She’s annoying and not endearing. She takes plucky to a while new level. I constantly want to put her in timeout.

Loved reading the newly published version of Anne of Green Gables. I have read this story over and over again when I was a kid and didn't (couldn't) understand why adults were raving about it. Anne seemed a bit too obnoxious and like a girl I would not be able to be friends with. But now I read this, and I feel the solitude, the passion, and the love Anne hold dear to her heart which makes me feel very close to this character. This is the children's book but definitely a great read for adults too.

This was such a cute read, I have to say that it took me a while to read it, but the further I got the more invested I became in it. I do not like Anne in the beginning, she resembles a very needy child that whines a lot, which is why I could not bring myself to continue reading the book. Then, after a while I decided to give the book a second chance and not much after I could be found loving to read in it. Being a very big fan of character development in books, the development in this book in particular is just splendid, it warms my heart just thinking of it. A very lovely novel, and I feel like continuing the show. I had started it last year but had only watched one or two episodes, but now I really like to see how Anne's wonderful story evolves in film. I can only recommend this book!

I never read this as a child but absolutely loved watching the Netflix series 'Anne with an E' and was desperate to read the series. It's such a sweet book with charming characters. There's a reason this is a classic which has stood the test of time. It's beautifully written with a gorgeous setting, heartwarming themes, and plenty of nostalgia.

Anne is a headstrong, impulsive character who is so full of wonder and excitement about the world she lives in. When she finds that the family she is sent to as an orphan wanted a boy, not a girl, she is devastated and will do anything to earn her keep. It's the kind of book you wish you had read as a child, or I certainly did!

A wonderful story that has been beautifully updated to accommodate modern audiences.

Anne of Green Gables was a childhood favourite of mine, and having the chance to get a free copy and reread it was a must.

The story is that of an Orphan 'Anne", who is sent to live with brother and sister Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, who had asked fora boy to help on the farm. Anne, ends up staying with the Cuthbert's and the story follows Anne as she settles into life at Green Gables and without the small town, her friendships that she develops and the problems she encounters. Written in 1908 by Lucy M Montgomery, this book is still as captivating as it was when i first read it 30 years ago. It is beautifully written and the characters are lovable and it's lovely to see the relationship develop between Anne and Matthew and Marilla.

A well loved classic and it always will be.

And if you haven't watched "Anne with an E", that's a must do too!

My first experience of Udon Entertainment was Manga Classics: The Jungle Book, a real disappointment. So why do I feel differently about Les Misérables? The original Victor Hugo classic clocks in at nearly 1,400 pages. No young person would be able to handle that; I finally threw in the towel, and I was in my 50s at the time! Unlike The Jungle Book, whose language is accessible to tweens and teens, Les Misérables’ flowery language can be a stumbling block even for adults. A manga edition could make this beautiful tale of love and redemption, of different legal systems for rich and poor, of the inspiring Jean Valjean available to readers who would never otherwise be able to read it.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this graphic novel from NetGalley and Udon Entertainment in exchange for an honest review.

Anne of Green Gables is one of those classics that I've been meaning to read for a long time. Very glad to finally have picked it up. Anne of Green Gables is about Anne, a headstrong, quirky chatterbox of a girl with a vivid imagination who gets adopted to live on Green Gables.

This is an heartwarming and nostalgic story. Anne is a character so full of wonder that you can't help but go along with her. Many times I laughed out loud trying to keep up with Anne's chattering. Anne of Green Gables is filled with lovely friendships, lessons to be learned and adventures to be had.

All of us could use a bit more of Anne's imagination.

I love this book, read and watched the 80s Canadian tV series as a teenager. Loved that too. Thanks, I revisited it again.

Anne of Green Gables is such an all-time classic. I've never gotten the chance to read it as a child, but I'm so happy I finally came across it. Anne Shirley is a character to be reckoned with, and this edition is so heart-warming and nostalgic.

I received an ARC of this wonderful book in exchange for my honest review. I’m grateful to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this book. It’s just as wonderful as I remember from my childhood. It’s great that it’s been redone for children to get engaged with Anne Shirley now, also.

This is a perfect children's book and just what I needed during this time. It is magical and beautiful and a story about grit and friendship.

I got this book to review and I was hoping it would have some pictures in it (based on the book cover I thought it would) but it doesn’t have any pictures. It’s the whole Anne of Green Gables story. I thought it was great but my daughters weren’t even interested in reading it because it looked too long. Maybe in a few years?? Anyway- it’s worth the price for this whole set, but don’t expect it to be geared to very young children.

A perfect children's classic to rediscover or share with a new generation of readers. Anne Shirley remains one of the brightest stars of children's literature. Highly recommended.

Anne of Green Gables is a heartwarming classic and the perfect book for younger readers.

It tells the story of Anne Shirley, a fanciful and headstrong heroine, who is accidentally adopted by Marilla Cuthbert and her brother Matthew when they were looking for a boy to help on the farm.

The book follows Anne's misadventures as she navigates life with the Cuthberts, and they learn to love her. Anne is a wonderful role model for girls, as she is a bright and imaginative girl, who is eager to learn and prove herself, despite society's expectations.

This new edition is fantastic for appealing to younger readers, with bright colours and a fun cover illustration which will catch the eye of young audiences.

It would have been great to have an introduction - even just a couple of pages to give younger readers some background information. Other books from this publisher also include illustrations, information/definition boxes to help young readers which again would be great additions.
