I was hooked from the first chapter. A continuation of the Ty'lers of Texas series, takes you to the not to distant past of about 30 years ago and centers on the extended family of Bull Tyler. They return to reclaim what was taken from them and are running from a dangerous group of men. We are also introduced to a man who is fighting his own demons and has come to Texas to try to forget. We are also reintroduced to old enemies and their machinations to get what they've wanted for years. Texas Free takes you 12 years into the future life of Bull Tyler and a grown up Rose Landro.

Rose Landro is running for her life back to people that can protect her and keep her safe. She wants to reclaim the land that belonged to her deceased grandfather and was left to her. She's hoping to fly under the radar of the drug cartel who has taken over the town in Mexico she lived in. Bull knows he's got trouble when he sees Rose now 26 pull into his ranch. The old family enemy, the Prescotts, have started their efforts to get their hands on Rose's piece of land that Bull has basically stole from her to try and keep Rose safe. An undercover newly arrived to Texas Tanner McCade has been sent to look for missing cattle on the Prescott ranch. He's fighting his own memories of the past and sending money home to his brother to help on the family ranch. He sees Rose when she comes to stake a claim to the land that her grandfather left her. Tanner doesn't know if she is part of the rustling ring or an innocent bystander by decides to keep an eye on her. Meanwhile Bull isn't wanting to turn over the land and tries to explain his reasons to Rose. He calls about some missing cattle and is told about the undercover officer. Tanner is suspicious of Bull and his men because of what he's been told by Prescott and rumors. Prescott sends his son to extend an invitation to Rose. She doesn't trust him but uses his lawyer to find out her options on getting her land back. Finally Bull relents and signs over the land. Tanner can't stay away from Rose and keeps an eye on her. She takes Bull's sons for a ride and they find Tanner shot and unconscious. Bull finds out what Prescott's ben up to makes a demand. After meeting Bull Tanner is less suspicious of him and begins to not trust Prescott. Tanner and Rose get closer and he keeps watch over her. They confide in each other about their pasts. Rose looks for a way to make money and is warned about raising her sheep. Old friends show up at Rose's house. Tanner and Rose go to Bull for help. They come up with a plan. Tanner and Rose become lovers. He leaves after solving the rustling on the Prescott ranch. He goes to help his brother only to think about Rose the whole while. Rose is doing the same in Texas. Tanner comes back and is offered a new position near where Rose lives. They decide to come back together and tell each other I love you. Rose is worried about her friends and wants to check on them. Tanner and Rose go to visit a remote ranch and get information that scares them. They contact Bull. Bull goes to check on the old friends hidden away and comes to the same conclusion as Rose and Tanner. Arriving home he realizes that his sons and housekeeper are missing. An exchange is offered and accepted with a ambush planned. Tanner is injured and makes a decision. Rose must make a life altering decision. A marriage takes place and a life in Montana is started. A baby is born with another on the way and Rose learns how to work on a ranch and fall in love with Montana.

Janet Dailey has always been a favorite author and continues to be with this book and series. I look forward to reading about the next generation of Tylers and what their lives will be like when Bull's sons grown up. Also I can see a new series with the children in the McCade family finding love and happiness in Montana. I look forward to the next book from Janet Dailey.

Rose has had a very hard life. For her it is that she has to trust the devil she knows. It's hard to trust strangers but Tanner isn't a stranger for long. Texas Free, is a great western cowboy romance novel.

Interesting read. Great characters, just imperfect enough to be realistic and likeable. One in particular was kind of muddy in character, at least for the first half of the book. I enjoyed the strength of Rose, her resilience in the face of adversity. Overall well written and with a story that carried through to a great ending. A few spots seemed just a little long, but the book moved along very well for most of the tale.

Rose is a young woman, who fled the drug cartels in Mexico to return to Texas and get her land back. Tanner is a officer looking into cattle rustling in the area. A good story, with a lot of suspense. Two families are fighting for water rights, and the land Rosa wants is the main control of that water. Throw in basically most of the other men in the book trying to sexual assault her, and her struggling to keep them away is a recurring theme in the book. Overall I did enjoy this book, with its fast pace and the budding romance between Rose and Tanner. The darker elements explain a lot, but are disturbing to read. Not sure how the author could have done it differently, but would rate this 4.5 because of it. Would highly recommend this book and author.

Rose Landro's life changes pages into this story forcing her to return back to Rimrock Ranch where it all began. There she finds the familiar faces of Bull Tyler and his foreman Jasper. Throw in some missing cattle, ownership of land, greed, and some romance mixed in with handsome cowhand Tanner McCade for good measure gives the reader a lot to think about in the latest book of The Tylers of Texas series.

I enjoyed Janet Dailey's story with strong characters and a full story line. I liked how things were not always how they appeared and you had to keep up with everyone to figure things out. Rose is a very strong woman who is very stubborn which was frustrating at times when she could not see past herself and what she needed to prove to the world. I understand that her past and circumstances had to make her a strong person and rely on herself, but I feel that she was surrounded by those who were looking out for her. I liked the easiness between Rose and those at Rimrock as if they were a family and just haven't seen each other in twelve years.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for this privilege.

Rose is on the run after killing the murderer of her foster parents. She goes back to Texas where she expects to find her inheritance, a 30acre parcel of ranch land, waiting for her. But the rancher is not willing to give it back, a Texas ranger is snooping around and accusing her of rustling cattle, and all in all she is in a big mess where one tough guy will rescue her from.

From the beginning, the story started with a complex plot or rather plots. A young woman who is on the run from Mexico’s cartel, and goes to the land her grandfather left her. She left the USA 12 years before, when she was just teenager, after she committed a crime. Now that she shows up at the ranch of Bull, the man who helped her escape to Mexico and promised to keep her land, she discovers he had a different agenda. Bull, is not a likable man, and I have to confess, I found Rose, a tad hard to take.
Throw in cattle rustling and an undercover Special Ranger by the name of Tanner McCade, and you have a lot going on in the story.
The romance is secondary, since it’s more of a suspense story.
I have to confess I was taken aback at the beginning when I read the first chapter saying it was 1985. Don’t know if the book was published then , or it’s a retro/modern western suspense.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is a well written story about the hardships in life and finally finding a place you can call home. Tanner and Rose both had pasts that had left them damaged. In finding each other they were able to follow the path to their future. It was a hard road to travel but, it made the journey worthwhile when they reached their destination. The characters and intriguing storyline pulls you in and keeps your interest until the end. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is the darker elements of this book. I think it would have been a 5 star read if those dark elements had been toned down. I also have to say that this book could have triggers for some people. That being said I still feel like this is a great read and I would definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed this quick, western romance. Just the right amount of action, drama, and romance.

We first met Rose in Texas Fierce. We meet her again several years later when she returns to Texas from Mexico. She wants to build anew life on her grandfather’s land, but must get Bull to agree to return it to her first. In the meantime, she meets Tanner who is working undercover to locate cattle rustlers. Rose and Tanner fall in love quickly, but must deal with a number of obstacles, including a Mexican drug cartel before attaining their happily ever after.

Rose has endured a traumatic past and is now on the run from the Mexican Cartel for killing the leader's brother. She goes back to the Tyler Ranch where she grew up and finds herself in the middle of 2 warring ranchers. She'll do anything to keep her land and Tanner, an undercover officer looking for cattle rustlers, wants to help her. He's suffered losses too but knows the value of a strong woman. Lots of western action and romance make this a great read.

For a quick read, this story had excitement, suspense, romance and a strong female who knew what she wanted and went after it or did what she had to to hold on to it.

I received an ARC copy of this novel from Netgally in exchange for an honest review. All of the following are my own views and opinions.

I love Janet Dailey. Some of her books are a hit and miss but some are just out of this world amazing. This is one of the out of the world books. Be warned the book is part of a series so you should read the other books first. It can be read alone but you miss out on some background on many of the characters.

The beginning of the book was very fast paced full of adrenaline. Rose, our female lead, is on the run from the Mexican Cartel. She's amazingly tough, and self sufficient. She needs help sometimes but seems capible enough on her own. She ends up running toward her grandfather's land and runs into Tanner, our hero more then once. He blames the run in on her being a rustler. It gets complicated and alot of adventure ensures. In fact, the adventure gets in the way of alot of the romance; it feels like the fire between the characters took a back burner to the rest of the story. It's ok though, they still are amazing together. And the story makes up for it eventually.

I really disliked Bull in this book (the hero of Texas Fierce). He took care of her grandfather's land (30 acres) when she was gone (she was a kid for that time too). He doesn't want to give it back because of water issues for his land. He essentially stole it. The entire situation is utter crap. Which I have to say is a great job on the author's part. It's supposed to annoy the reader. So well done. Bull is not a totatally bad guy but he is... agravating. Which is not surprising after his own book but annoying when he's not the main man. He's the type of guy you get the urge to bash over the head. A strong urge. In his book though you you either had the urge to hit him or kiss him. Interesting what happens when he's not the love interest. Unfortunately, he's not the only character you get the urge to hit so be warned.

Again the romance between Tanner and Rose feel like a background story but overall the book was very well written and worth the read. The book has alot of action and drama. So much drama. Lovers of Janet Daily will not be disappointed and should definitely get this book.

Ortegas a couple who took her in as a child, now was her time for avenging what had.been done to them. Back at the homestead that was her grandfather’s, she was to inherit it. Did she, or what was the last changes he made. It is a time for hiding and healing for her. There is Tanner, that is watching her too closely why is that. There is cattle rustling, is it connected to why she ran. Different plot that I have read by author, it was enjoyable, Given ARC by Kensington and Net Galley for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
