I quite enjoyed The Watcher of the Night Sky. Even though it was published three years ago,, it still grabbed my attention and I couldn't put it down. I found the next book and read it too. I'm hoping to find more and keep reading...

This book made me laugh out loud at times and cry at others. It’s characters were unique and each had a purpose in the story, wether they were the comic relief or the love interest. Abigail did end up falling in love with one of the seven people who showed up at her house on her sixteenth birthday. The ending was a total cliffhanger meant to send you running for the second book which was my only complaint about this story. That and the fate of Mallory, a herbalist. There were so many other ways Mallory could have been written out of the story. I didn’t particularly care for her but even so it seemed forced and unnecessary. The other characters were all good and I especially liked Clay and Etva. We learned lot about Clay and I wish we got to know the other six suitors that well too. Olivia was Abi’s best friend and didn’t seem to have much of a role in the story. She didn’t really grow much as a character either. Other than that it was good and at times very funny!

I am giving this a 3.5 but that might change but as of right now, I think a 3.5 is the right score for this book.
I found the whole story really funny (and I've even started book two!) and the characters funny. I've laughed because of this book, but book two didn't seem to have the same humor as this book. I found the whole premise really funny, but the book is full of cliches. I don't think however the book is the best for experienced YA-readers. The writing is light and I found it at times beautiful but the descriptions can bore you to death.
Also. the start can be described as weird and it doesn't keep on doing this furthermore in the books.

A YA/middle grade epic quest travel fantasy novel with too many characters to follow and make sense of. I liked the idea of the story but the execution was a bit sloppy and all over the place. There was a lot of teenaged angst mixed with adult behaviors that confused me on what age level I was to be reading at. I found myself skimming pages of descriptions and terrible dialogue.

Warning: ends in a cliffhanger which I am NOT a fan of at all. There needs to be a warning label.

This book was given to me for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The watcher of the night sky⭐️

I really liked the school aspect and that abigail didnt care for boys it was a new for a protagonist but then that one boy came and ruined everything.
It had potential but also it has been done so many times. You ha e a sort of magical element that you see in twilight meaning she wasn’t attracted to anyone until someone magical comes. Also focuses around the school because having kids go to school is good for bullies, drama and love.
Had potential. If you havent read alot of books then this kind of encompasses alot of good (also things i dislike) within alot of paranormal, fantasy novels.

I hate when authors describe exactly how the characters look right away. I want to see throughout the story and what others see in them how they are look.

Thank you so much to booksgosocial via netgalley for sending me an ARC copy of The watcher of the night sky by rachel pudsey. This is already out for you pleasure.
All opinions are my own.

A interesting twist on a fairy tale. A girl's wish on the stars goes wrong, prompting a epic adventure to try to correct it. It has humans, dwarves, fae and more interesting characters. I enjoyed it but wish the book hadn't ended with a cliff hanger forcing you to get the next book to see what happens. I think that's unfair to the readers. #TheWatcherOfTheNightSky(aroniaSeries1) #NetGalley

I could not put this book down! At first I didn't really like it because Abigail was kind of a wimp and all the men that just showed up and were fighting over her was a little weird. But this book got better and better. The two princes were complete morons and the other guys were weird. But I liked Clay from the very beginning and now I like him even more!! Abigail had great character development as well. But the only character I really, really didn't like was Olivia. She was so annoying and whiny.
I really enjoyed the adventure In the story as well. AND THE ENDING!!!! Now I need the next book. I really want read more by this author.

I could not put this book down! I literally finished it within a day!

In this fairy-tale adventure, Abigail is a plain and very relatable teenager, who is picked on by her peers for being studious and "ugly". Her best friend, Olivia, however, is beautiful and receives the attention of many boys in their quaint village where marriage is on the mind after one reaches sixteen. On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Abigail makes a wish upon a star that brings seven suitors to her door, all vastly different and all in love with her and none of them will leave without her. As she embarks out on a journey to correct the wish that enchanted these men, she finds herself accompanied by each of them and Olivia on an unexpected quest that is anything but simple.

The plot is genius, the characters engaging and the writing superb, which makes for an electrifying adventure. Pudsey's prose is entertaining and while this is the first book I have read by her, I am definitely a fan now and can't wait to start the next book.

I don't think I have enough words to describe just how much I enjoyed this book. I choose to read it because the cover was gorgeous and the plot sounded different. Indeed a girl who wishes upon the stars and ends up with a bunch of men madly in love with her.
The plot was well written and kept you guessing as to what was going to happen. As this is only part one it left off on a massive cliff hanger. One that insures if you read the first part you will jump right into getting the second.
For fans of fantasy, romance, and quests.

I personally found with this book to be very difficult to get into the story. I thought that the plot, story line and word building was rather weak. Although there seemed to be lots of action, the story itself was not very exciting. Lots of back forth from forests to towns yet without a clear understand of the adjacent forest.

This story is more geared to younger readers who would probably find the story somewhat enjoyable..

My review:

The Watcher of the Night Sky was a hidden gem that I found on Netgalley. Without Netgalley, I don’t think I’d have ever found it, which would have been unfortunate, because it’s one of the best books I’ve read this year.

When I first found The Watcher of the Night Sky, I wasn’t looking for a serious book. The description sounded a tad fluffy - which was okay - because that’s what I was looking for at the time. This book took me by complete surprise. It wasn’t fluffy at all! It was clever, and had humor, heartbreak, magic, memorable characters, and a grand adventure. It was well-conceived, and compelling, and I had a hard time putting it down. I wasn’t looking for a book like this, but I’m glad I found it.

With the exception of one, all the guys “in love” with Abigail were one-of-a-kind. They had unique personalities, and talents, and I loved watching them all work together to help Abigail with her quest.

I loved the sweet and strong friendship Abigail and Olivia had. Abigail was constantly picked on by her classmates, because of her looks, and Olivia never let it slide. She always stood up to the bullies, because of her love and loyalty to Abigail. When Abigail decides to leave her home in order to get her wish reversed, Olivia insists on coming along. Abigail and Olivia reminded me a lot of Frodo and Sam, another incredibly strong friendship.

The Watcher of the Night Sky has all the ingredients needed for a great YA fantasy, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I received a copy of this book for free and voluntarily chose to review. Slow to start and I had trouble getting into it. I didn't even get to the middle of it, and can't really explain why. Good writing style, no major spelling problems or anything.

This... Is very much a YA book. I'd go so far as to say perhaps even pre teen. I would not recommend it to older teens and adults. It's very two dimensional, and the author has not yet learnt that dragging your protag through unending action does not necessarily make it exciting. The world building is a little lacking, making me think of a rectangular patch of land with plot points scattered along it in a linear fashion. Lots of dashing back and forth, into and out of forests and towns, but without a clear sense of the land surrounding the characters.
They also commit the novice error of using a mirror to describe the protagonist. It's very tiresome to read such a weak plot device, and is immediately obvious to more seasoned readers.
However, evaluating for a pre teen audience, I would hazard a guess that it would be moderately enjoyable, a light and fast paced introduction to fantasy novels.

Sounds interesting and I like the cover. The opening feels like you’re settling in for a fairytale. Poor Abigail top of her class and bullied by boys makes a wish upon a star, a wish that comes true in the form of a curse. Favourite of the seven is Clay. Abigail needs to toughen up a bit and learn what privacy is. I liked the comedy added by the variety of guys, especially the constant bickering between two enemies.
