This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

When someone tells you about shifters and cowboys mixed in one plot, you expect a lot of things. Some of them positive, some of them disappointing. But I have to say, Kait Ballengher managed to make exactly what a western shifter romance should be all about.

Wes Calhoun has left his dark past behind. His loyalty lies with the Grey Wolves of Big Sky county now. But an accident leads to him revealing his true nature to a human rancher, Naomi Evans. Now they must both find a way to deal with the consequences – possibly without Naomi dying – and defend the pack from those who once Wes called his pals. All this while attraction sizzles between them, despite everyone telling them not to surrender to it.

Honestly, this was quite an enjoyable read. The pace was just perfect, keeping up with the story, leaving only sparse dull moments – that were absolutely necessary for character growth and the smooth flow of romance development – and keeping the reader on their toes at every possible chance. The plot was also interesting, because it took two plot points often used in each separate of the genres that the book included, and blended them in a natural and not forced way.

The dialogues were pure gold, mainly thanks to the female protagonist. Naomi was spunky, but kind. She cared for those around her, even when they might pose a threat to her well-being, but that didn’t mean she was about to lay down and take shit from anyone. A real breath of fresh air among so many female leads that make you feel like you’re choking or something. And Wes was also a wonderful match for her. Hot, funny, and he took the bad-boy trope through a more approachable and likable route, which was refreshing, to say the least. And it was kinda sweet how he encouraged her to think what she wanted instead of what was expected of her – not for any other reason, but for her own mental stability and health. By the way, the banter between those two had me laughing at times and fanning myself at others.

And let’s not forget the other characters. Austin (the medic) and Blaze (the techie) – I can’t wait to read their stories, because of course they’ll get theirs, it would be a crime not to! And Black Jack – long live the fictional animals with personalities!

This book is a nice start to a very intriguing series. I highly recommend it for any fan of either PNR or Western Romance – or possibly, like me, both.

Interesting paranormal. Could have been better. Beginning was a little fast. I thought I had missed something but it was just a speedy start.

I don't think Naomi and Wes' first encounter would be considered a meet-cute. Especially since Naomi pulls a gun on Wes, and he ties her up, throws her over his horse's back and takes her home to his pack. All for her protection, of course.

Electricity sizzles between the feisty rancher and the conflicted werewolf. Wes, the ex-pack leader of the Wild Eight is now a member of the Grey Wolves pack. Which puts him on the top of the Wild Eight hit list. The Wild Eight and some nasty vampires want Naomi's land. Then you have the Underground Protection group that do their best to keep the supernaturals in line, although dead wouldn't bother them. All this leads to a hotbed of trouble that's just waiting to explode.

The story was well written and kept my interest, the plot fairly tight with room to grow in future books, and the characters were believable, and more importantly, they made me care. I couldn't help but root for them. Not that I didn't want to kick some sense into them a time or two.

I look forward to reading more in this series. I'd like to see Maverick, Blaze, and Colt's stories.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good shifter or cowboy story.

I received this book from NetGalley which I voluntarily reviewed. The opinions stated are honest, and unbiased and my own.

Cowboy Wolf Trouble was a great start to a new paranormal romance series with an engaging plot and a wonderful romance.

For centuries, the seven shifter clans of Montana have kept the peace while keeping their world a secret from the general population. But when a new enemy emerges, it will take everything they have to stop this new threat from wreaking havoc on their world. Wes Calhoun, former leader of a rogue wolf pack, has sworn loyalty to the Grey Wolves and agreed to follow their rules. But Wes’s past has a habit of catching up to him. While tracking one of his former pack mates, Wes stumbles onto Naomi Evans’s ranch and is forced to reveal his true nature. But Naomi is more involved in the coming war than either of them realizes and soon it’s more than her land that’s on the line.

On Grey Wolves lands, Wes works with horses and has expanded the ranch’s horse program into the thousands. It’s clear Wes loves his work and I liked hearing him talk about it. Personally, Wes has a lot of issues stemming from his time as pack leader to rogue wolves due to the brutality of their way of life. Wes feels he is undeserving of any happiness as he believes he only brings death and destruction to those he cares about.

Naomi recently lost her father to cancer and is on the verge of losing the ranch he loved that was left to her. Naomi is clearly knowledgeable about her work but due to larger operations in the area, smaller ranches are struggling to survive. Naomi went to school to become a biologist, which helps her on the ranch, but due to her father’s illness she was unable to pursue that career further.

Wes and Naomi’s relationship doesn’t get off to the best start as after revealing his true nature, Wes kidnaps Naomi only for the two to end up in danger soon after. Despite their initial dislike of each other, they are attracted to one another, which is something they struggle with. Once the pair’s physical relationship does progress, it’s fantastically done with some amazing scenes. My only issue with their relationship was Wes’s distrust of Naomi and his quickness to blame her when something goes wrong. Thankfully they eventually work through their issues, but I wish they had been honest with each other sooner.

The threat the wolves are facing provided an interesting storyline that was fast paced with the perfect amount of action. I had several theories I was wrong about before it was eventually revealed what was going on, but I like the direction the author chose to go in. We get small introductions to the clans outside of the wolves and I’m definitely interested in learning more about them. Each clan has their own unique dynamics, both internally and in their interactions with the other clans. I’m hoping there will be future books in the series that center around characters in other clans as I think the author has set up an interesting world that I’d like to see more of.

Overall I really enjoyed Cowboy Wolf Trouble and I will be continuing on with the series. I definitely recommend this if you’re a fan of shifter romances.

I am in the minority with this book, it just wasn't one that I enjoyed and I struggled to get through it. Readers are thrown into a world of paranormal vs. humans without much explanation, and there are a lot of characters to get to know right away - it was confusing for me. I didn't find any of the characters engaging, and some thoughts between them seemed to be thrown in to make the story-line racier instead of it flowing naturally. There was also a lot of repetitive dialogue and inconsistencies throughout the tale. I most likely won't be picking up any future books from this series, but if you enjoy rough around the edge characters, a paranormal world, and a side-helping of country, then you might want to pick up this book and decide for yourself.

Cowboy Wolf Trouble is book one in the Seven Range Shifters series by Katie Ballenger.

This new series is off to a great start with a story full of thrills, suspense, action, betrayal, heartache, and an emotionally gripping romance. It’s well written and has a nice premises. I liked the cowboy and shifter aspects.

Wes and Naomi are strong, capable, and captivating. They fit each other and brought out new aspects of each other. Their romance is a roller coaster ride of charismatic attraction, turbulent emotions, red-hot passion and forbidden relationship, which keeps the HEA in suspense until the very end.

The plot is fast-paced and full of thrilling suspense with the no humans allowed, malicious shifters, and mistaken identity. It did take me a little while to get into the story, but the more I read the more I enjoyed and fell into the storyline. I will say it was nice to have the authors Executioner Underground, her other series, make an appearance. It’s ok if you haven’t read that series yet, but readers may want to understand the EU better. For fans it was fun to see the EU pop into the story.

The author has created an interesting world with sexy cowboy shifters and I can’t wait to read on.

I love finding a new series to delve into and have been pleasantly surprised with this one. I am new to Kait Ballenger but will be reading more of her books. I enjoyed how she introduced us to the Seven Range series. This book has a great cast of characters, interesting plot and lots of action. I did find it a little difficult to get into for the first 4 chapters because it felt like I was missing some information but that was quickly cleared up. I am looking forward to the next book.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebook/Casablanca for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I liked this book ok. I liked the way that Wes and Naomi met. I found it odd that Naomi would be the first human to be a mate! As the law says no mingling. That part wasn't believable that they just threw out the law. It got a bit complicated. Friends, lovers, mate oh my 3.5 stars.

Shifter romance where teh wolf, West decides to "out" the existence of shifters instead of killing the human, Naomi, as per Pack lack. Naomi is trying to run the ranch left to her by her father while Wes is trying to atone for past sins.

A big deal is made about Pack law and how humans and wolves can't have relationships. Wes and Naomi break the rules without punishment. Given the strictness of the Alpha, it's a bit unbelievable that he would let Naomi just rant at him and then essentially say "Hey, you're right. Let me change my mind".

Overall a decent read.

Thanks, to NetGally for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was an interesting book. Naomi is a human rancher and has no idea there is anything paranormal going on. All she wants is to live up to her father's legacy and keep the ranch going. I loved the way she and werewolf Wes meet. Wes is a big baddie. A somewhat reformed bad boy who wants nothing more than to prove himself.

There is a lot going on and I liked the interactions between the wolves and Naomi. There is a strange pack dynamic going on but it was interesting to see reasoning behind a lot of actions. The spark between Naomi and Wes was undeniable but he doesn't want to acknowledge it. Still, he will do anything to protect her.

It was a 3/5 for me.

Noami inherits her dad's ranch..But something is killing her live stock.
Wes used to belong to the Wild Eight pack..Now he belongs to the Grey Wolf Pack..
What happens when she catches a wolf in her trap? But it's not exactly a wolf..
Now that the Wild Eight have teamed up with the Vamps..Bad things are sure to happen..
Hopefully just a start of a great new series..Can't wait for the next.

I am always on the lookout for a paranormal romance as it's a favorite genre of mine, and reading the blurb for Cowboy Wolf Trouble had me excited for the story it could tell. Unfortunately I had a difficult time connecting to the writing and the characters, and subsequently struggled with feeling the love story. Sadly this story wasn't for me, though I'm sure many others will enjoy it.

dnf at 71%

You're probably wondering why I let myself get to 71% and then stopped, I think the start of it was how basic the beginning of the storyline was for a shifter romance. The farther I gotten in the book, it wasn't standing out for me. I didn't really care for the characters either, unfortunately. This might be a case of "its me, but it may not be the same for you."

What a trill ride! I’m a sucker for cowboys and a huge sucker for shifters. What could better than a hero who was both? I couldn’t have resisted the book if I tried.

I also love tough as nails heroines who can put their men in their place and Naomi as absolutely my kind of heroine. She inherits her dad’s farm after he passes and is struggling not only with her grief but with keeping the ranch alive when she wakes up to find a wolf in a trap on her land. Only it’s not just a wolf, it’s a shifter.

Wes is trying to find his road to redemption for his past when he gets stuck in a trap on Naomi’s land. The chemistry between the characters is right there form the beginning even with both of them fighting it.

What drew me in even more to the book was how Kait Ballenger made even the animals in the book characters in their own right. If you pick up this book for no other reason, please pick it up for the humorous interactions with Black Jack, Wes’ (somewhat) horse.

There were some points of the book that may have dragged a little but pushing through those was well worth it in the end and I hope the series continues!

I like the synopsis and the idea of shifters and hot cowboys?!? I mean who doesn't!

Unfortunately, I tried to read the book but I just couldn't get into it. I am very disappointed because I really, REALLY wanted to like it. I don't think it's really a matter of like or dislike. The story couldn't keep my interest. I think the flow of the story was off and that's why I wasn't able to get into it. However, this experience won't put me off the author.

Seven Range Shifters #1, "Seven shifter clans call the Montana mountains home. But a new evil will stop at nothing to tear their world apart."
With a blurb intro like that how could a PNR fan like myself not be interested in this book?! And the title Cowboys and Shifters, I mean come on it's just asking to be read. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as I hoped, don't get me wrong there was nothing bad about it it just didn't grab my attention, I was easily distracted while reading and I was indifferent to the characters, I didn't feel any connection to them especially the secondary characters. I liked the concept of seven different shifter clans secreted away in the wilds of Montana and the action, the fight scenes, were really done well I enjoyed those.

Wes was once the Alpha of a renegade pack, but after a betrayal of the worst kind he abdicated his birthright and swore fealty to the Grey Wolves alpha. Three years later he still feels like an outsider and that no one trust him even the Alpha dismisses his concerns that his former pack is up to something. Naomi Evans is a biologist who inherited her father's ranch and she is struggling to keep it especially now with her sheep mysteriously dying. Blaming the local wolves seems convenient until she catches one in a trap and he turns into a man. Wes knows the wolves aren't responsible for her sheep it isn't until she explains how they died that he puts two and two together. Now Wes must work to keep his new pack and the woman he's fallen in love with alive even if that means breaking every rule.

Overall, it was an okay read. I liked the idea of the book but the characters didn't do it for me.

I enjoyed the start to this new shifter series. There was plenty of action, suspense and sexy romance to keep me turning the pages. Wes was the quintessential bad-boy looking for redemption, and Naomi was the strong capable woman putting up with all that came with him. There were a few times when the shifter’s actions/reactions were not consistent with being apex predators, and one or two “too stupid to live” moments for Naomi…but I still enjoyed the story and look forward to the next installment.
