The worlds of Thomas Brown and Helena Grayse collide in this suspenseful story by Abbie Roads. Destiny has brought them together but will past horrors tear them apart? From the moment I picked up this book, I couldn’t put it down. I liked the characters and felt they were well developed. If you haven’t picked up this series yet, it is a must read!

I really wanted to love this as it had all the trademarks of a book I should love: strong characters, paranormal powers, and a tense suspense plot. Unfortunately I struggled to fully connect to the characters and the book dragged a bit for me. Still a solid romantic suspense read.

It took me a bit longer to get into this book, having read the first two and thought were interesting. For some reason I felt it had too descriptive as it started off, but after the first two-three chapters, it definitely picked up.

Can give this a definite read.

The story was a good one but just didn't come through the writing. Seemed like it was all over the place. I never connected with Thomas and Helena. The instalove was a negative for me. It wasn't just instant attraction which is ok but the obsession was too immediate. Not a book for me.

I was chomping at the bit to read another work of one of my favorite authors, and the amazingly talent Abbie Roads did not disappoint! This book has it all: characters I'd love to hang out with, intriguing mystery, and plenty of romantic intrigue left me wishing for more. And now I can't wait for her next book!

A dark, edgy thriller, high on the graphic violence and cruelty. When we met our female lead, she’s been imprisoned for a crime she didn’t commit. Fighting for her life, she’s been abused and attacked constantly during her sentence. The graphic violence hits hard from the opening and never lets up.

Our male lead, Thomas was kicked in the face by his father as a child, and as a result, he’s lost the ability to see color and gained a rarer ability. Able to see the shadows of death, and how people have died, he’s almost tailor-made for his job with law enforcement. His thoughts are bleak, and his life matches. I had a hard time sympathizing or connecting over the heavy weight of the topics explored, and the character’s backgrounds. The situations they lived through came with a lot of baggage and questions. The way things were revealed didn’t give me enough time to care.

This story wasn’t a great fit for me, but if you’re looking for an incredibly dark thriller with a bit of romance and paranormal aspects, this might be a great fit.

I don't know why it took me so long to read this book. But holy chalupas. Ohmigosh! Abbie Roads did an amazing job with this book. The paranormal elements mixed with suspense, thrill, and steamy romance. Oh man. I gotta read the other books in this series. I loved NEVER LET ME FALL.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley.

4 Hearts
SJ, Romance Junkies

I've been a fan of Abbie Roads since her first release, RACE THE DARKNESS. Book two, HUNT THE DAWN, introduces Thomas, the hero of NEVER LET ME FALL, book three in the Fatal Dreams series. Though the third in the series, NEVER LET ME FALL can easily be read as a stand-alone.

Roads writes with keen attention to detail, and her characters come across as authentic and deeply damaged. Unlike the previous books in this series, however, I had a tough time getting past the story's darkness.

Thomas can't see color, but he can see the soul of people, which makes him an excellent criminal investigator. Then he meets Helena, a woman who was imprisoned for a crime she didn't commit. Helena and Thomas have instant chemistry. And that closeness puts them both at the attention of a very, very bad man.

The Fatal Dreams books have a paranormal bent and deal with characters on the edge, going through and eventually recovering from trauma, both emotional and physical. I knew and appreciated that going in. But with this story, the romance seemed rushed, the killer just so evil and the obstacles to overcome so harsh I had a tough time finishing the book.

If you like dark, psychological romances and fiction dealing with unhinged killers, this is one not to miss. I gave it four stars because of the author's thorough grasp of psychology and character motivation. The story is creative, but the heavy material took away some of my enjoyment.

NEVER LET ME FALL is book 3 in the Fatal Dreams series. Each book follows a different couple with an intense connection but can be read as standalones.

Helena (Helen) Grayse has endured a horrific decade of abuse that's left her a self imposed mute but she's finally about to begin a new chapter in her life. Until she meets the mysterious Thomas Brown. He's scarred, both mentally and physically but it seems like fate when he meets the beautiful and silent, Helen. Their lives are about to be thrown into a tailspin and they'll need to learn how to depend on each other to survive.

How do I explain this book? Well, let me first say that Ms Roads has an amazing ability to create an elaborate and complex world, one that's filled with intrigue and thrills. I'll warn that there is a touch of paranormal weaved into the storyline or maybe it's just not easily explainable. I'm not sure, but you may need a small leap of faith to fully enjoy all the intricacies and connections that this novel has. Because, WOW! I can't even begin to outline for you all of the crazy parallels and associations between Helen and Thomas.

Before I become repetitive, I'll move on to the characters. Both are magnificently multilayered and so UNIQUE! My heart bled and my mind was completely ensnared by Helen and her circumstances within the very first chapter. This lady's backbone must have been made of steel because she was so freaking strong. Then there's Thomas, who had his own painful past that shaped and scarred him. It gave him an ability that he hated because it left him in constant darkness. Yet, under all that, was a big ole teddy bear with a big ole heart and I wanted to hug the crap out of him!

I'm trying not give spoilers so I'll just say that if you enjoy a thriller with a dark, twisted plot, multifaceted characters and a bit of the paranormal, scoop this one up! On a side note, now that I read the book, I'm absolutely in love with the cover because it so accurately portrays Helen and Thomas. Told mostly from dual POVs with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

She would bring color to his dark and dreary world and provide him with a measure of peace that was missing in both of their lives. Dark pasts where they both were victims when they should have been protected. Being together would bring them the love that was missing for far too long.

This was a great addition to the series. I think this story was very unique and fit perfectly with the characters. I enjoyed every second of it. This is only one of a few Abbie Roads books I have read, but I will definitely be picking up more by her soon.

3.5 Stars
This is the 2nd Abbie Roads book I've read. This is a different kind of paranormal romantic suspense read without shifters and vampires. Thomas and Helen both have some dark pasts that Abbie isn't afraid to write about it. I personally feel it dragged out at times and maybe somethings needed to be omitted. From what we learn from the blurb, I kept on comparing Thomas' disability of not seeing color to Christine Feehan's dark carpathian creatures is that when they see their soul mate they immediate see color. Same goes for Thomas seeing Helen the first time, but the reason behind Thomas' is different. This cover is very beautiful and captures the story very well.

This was a really fantastic read and I would definitely recommend it. It is the third book in the series but is the first one I have read and I can't wait to go and read the first two. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down there is something here for everyone but it can be a tough read at times. I just loved it it was a great book.

I enjoyed this Paranormal romantic suspense, it was definitely something different and came from lots of angles. Thomas has had a pretty terrible childhood and comes across Helen just when he finds out some more terrible truths. Helen was accused of murder and sentenced to 10years in prison where she suffered terrible physical abuse. She has serious trust issues, but there's an instalust connection between the two and Thomas definitely wants it to be more. They both have plenty of discoveries to make about themselves and each other as well as about their circumstances. I don't think I missed anything by not reading the first two books in the series as the unexplainable is explained well.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a copy in return for an honest review.

Never Let Me Fall by Abbie Roads is the Third in the Fatal Dreams Series. I have not read the first two books but I was able to follow the story with no problem. This is a paranormal romance with a dark thriller/mystery twist. I loved that it was not just a romance story.
The story starts with Helena , a convicted murderer being released from prison after a ten year sentence and having endured an unimaginable amount of abuse and torture while incarcerated and Thomas ,a police consultant ,who had a horrendous childhood , full of abuse and violence .
Thomas has a psychic gift , he can see the shadow of death on people and after someone dies he can touch the body and the shadow will show him the person's life and death.
The very first time they meet is electrifying , Thomas can see color for the first time since childhood, he wants to get to know her but circumstances make it impossible. Helena is terrified about anyone finding out about her past and though she feels drawn to Thomas she is not willing to risk the judgement and rejection.
When they start to get to know one another it is a lesson in patience, acceptance and trust but their lives are affected by the the mystery that must be solved before they can be together .
The bond they feel is paranormal and has its roots in a legend that brings two damaged souls together , This is the third couple and Book 1 and Book 2 are two other couples . I will be going back to read their stories!!
I really enjoyed this story , it is dark and twisty but the romance is steamy and compelling. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves a good romance.

4 “As always, disturbingly thrilling” Stars

There is not one time when jumping into a book by Ms. Roads that, even though I girded up my loins in advance, I’m not taken completely by surprise.

This time I was sure I was ready. I was ready for the gore, and the blood and the effing twistedness of evil people. Well, there was no gore and oceans of blood in Never Let Me Fall, it was more demured with like, buckets of blood. But what was most definitely not missing was effing twisted evil people.

As in previous books in this series, for me, the most amazing aspect was that Ms. Roads can weave the sweetest most innocent romance amidst, well, horrifying circumstances.

Thomas, Evanee’s little brother (from Hunt the Dawn) had his fair share of abuse during his childhood. While not suffering the same horrible fate as her, he was beaten and tormented by his stepfather until he was big enough to defend himself. Unfortunately, that wasn’t before an especially brutal beat down left him with ample scarring and optic nerve damage. This led to him being unable to see color, but with the ability to see a person’s soul and through contact with it, the person’s whole life’s memories.

Helen has made it through a decade of prison. Convicted of murdering her boyfriend, her only thought now is getting back on her feet and leaving the place that had become purgatory for her. Unbeknownst to her, a chance encounter with Thomas trigger’s her dormant psychic dreams ability. The connection between them is instant and all powerful. Even though Helen is set on fighting it, there’s just no way Thomas will let color leach out of his life again.

The most shocking aspect of this story, to me at least, was how the twisted evil people in this one weren’t actually evil to start with but had been pushed to it by loss. Of course, I’m not sure these were sane, well-balanced people to begin with cause, really… there’s some twisted shit going on here… but I guess that any emotion if taken to the extreme and unchecked, can become harmful.

There’s not a lack of action, suspense and intrigue in this installment of the Fatal Dreams series. The story is captivating, and it had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The sweetness of Thomas and Helen’s romance was a balm to the soul in the middle of all the unfairness and hatred that swirled around them.

Once again I’m astounded by this author’s unique stories and the way she makes it all worth it in the end. I won’t ever hesitate to pick up one of her books because they are as amazing as they are disturbingly thrilling… I just would never want to live in her imagination.

Never Let Me Fall is the third book in the Fatal Dreams series by Abbie Roads. Now I am coming late to the series….such a slacker right? Yeah I know hehe. So I will admit that I grabbed this ARC from Sourcebooks Casablanca when I saw the cover…yep I know I will just cave anytime I see a sexy cover but really seeing this cover….how can you resist? Because honestly I didn’t even look at the blurb before grabbing it. Of course, I trust this publisher to deliver on their books but even if I had checked out the blurb beforehand I would have grabbed it anyway though and yes if I hadn’t received the ARC I would have bought this book in print…that is how much I loved the cover and I probably will end up buying it in print because its so PRETTY!! Now I first want to mention that this book is fabulous and I really had a great time immersing myself into this one. Now it did take me over a week to read it since I found myself in a book slump once I started reading it so it took a few days before I was in the mood for this book but boy I read this book last night before bed and couldn’t put it down despite the horrid headache I was having.

Never Let Me Fall begins with our heroine, Helena who has spent ten years in prison for a murder she never committed and a schoolmate framed her who was full of greed for the act. Everyone believed him even though she was only a teenager and only had her grandparents and a few family friends fight for her, but it wasn’t enough even if the evidence was only circumstantial. She has spent years fighting off attacks from other cellmates trying to kill her and she has scars all over her body to prove it. She also hasn’t spoken in quite a long time. Thomas, our hero of the story, only sees in black and white. He can see what is beneath the surface and what is in the soul of a person either the good or the evil. And these special abilities allows him a job working with special criminal investiagors with the government.

Helena, has finally been released from prison and now she is all alone. Her only family are dead and everyone in her home town despises her and will never trust her because they believe that she is a murderer. Her plan….go to the place she grew up and she is drawn to a bear statue near a cemetery and where she runs into Thomas whose home is nearby and is the same house she grew up. She is drawn to this special place that Thomas now calls home. But sparks fly the minute that Thomas and Helena meet and they jump each other like bunnies, and are drawn into a world where Thomas will see color and they will discover a connection stronger than anything they could have imagined and their bond will save them if they trust in it….

What a WILD RIDE!!! Boy I didn’t expect it from this book, I don’t know why since I had heard that Abbie Roads does deliver on the suspense and intensity and she does write in some darker elements so I was forewarned about that. Now these elements aren’t within the relationship, these two are in a fully consensual relationship. Its more outside factors. We see the effects of practically having to fight to live for ten years that Helena has had to deal with and survive and her lack of trust in humanity. I wouldn’t call this book a straight out dark romance because its not…but it does have some darker elements and issues that I am grateful this author touched on since it rarely is from romance authors.

This story was provacative and makes the reader think about those deeper issues that most of us ignore. But boy this author really gets the author to think about those harder issues and see our take on them and I love that Abbie Roads does this. My heart just broke for Helena and all that she went through and seeing her rebuild trust and fall in love with such a steady man who will always have her back is simply….BEAUTIFUL. Their story is quite difficult at times because of the depth of emotion that is displayed in this book. I was very fascinated in seeing them find each other and seeing their bond just grow.

Now I will say that you can read this as a stand alone, but as a newcomer to this author and to this series I will admit that I do wish that I could have read books one and two beforehand because of the characters we are introduced to and their back stories would have added more depth of understanding to this story. And I can’t wait to read the first two books because I was very intrigued by the women having dreams and the whole “if you are always close and touching nothing can hurt you” and boy I loved these fated style of relationships. And Abbie Roads does it in such a unique style you become hooked and I need MORE!!

Overall I found Never Let Me Fall to be a mind titilating story that keeps you thinking, on the edge and full invested in such a dynamic love tale that stuns you into pondering and one of the most poignant romances of the YEAR!!

This being the third book in the series it was still fresh and inviting. The love story flows and gives hope for them all.
