Helena Grayse (Helen) is a convicted murderer who served time for a crime she didn't commit. In the first pages, we're given a glimpse of what a courageous survivor she is. The night before she's finally given her freedom, she has to defend her life one last time. Through this scene, you get a small glimpse of the years of terror she's endured from a group of women called "the sisters." They dealt relentless pain and suffering on her from the moment she first set foot in her cell and the door clanged shut. Starting the book on such a suspenseful hook served two invaluable purposes for me. It pulled me effortlessly into the plot, and instantly made me root for the heroine. Immediately invested in what would happen to her in the long run, I easily flew through the pages in less than a day.

Admittedly, it's been a while since I read book one, so the major insta-love felt a bit corny. It was all mega abrupt and over the top, even for a paranormal fated-soulmate scenario. From a distance at first glance, he waxes on about how she is the most beautiful creature he's ever set eyes upon.

Then the background started coming back to me, with the totem pole story and the psychic dreams, and I went with the flow. If you're new to the series though, it takes time for that to be discussed, and even then it doesn't delve into it in depth. Honestly, I don't really read this author for the romance so it doesn't matter much to me. Abbie Roads' strength is writing chilling villains and dark suspense, and once again she gave me exactly what I was expecting in those departments.

Thomas Brown had a mother who turned a blind eye to the severe abuse inflicted by his sadistic stepfather. One beating in particular resulted in him losing his ability to see color. However, he was able to see one thing that no one else could: a person's shadow of death. In the living, he could see either a dark or a light aura surrounding a person. This allows him to see the true spirit of anyone. In the dead, his ability goes even farther, allowing him to view their life and death in a quick succession of flashes. As a child, this was pretty terrifying to deal with, but now that he's an adult, his gift is invaluable as a criminal investigator.

One thing I really liked about the story was Helen bringing back color to his drab world. Literally, and metaphorically. When he was in her presence, everything around him was vividly reanimated. Not only was he floored by his overwhelming need to be near her and keep her safe, but his new brilliant perspective of the world. When he stumbles upon her again on his property at night, they both realize that something strange is happening between them that they can't explain. Everything he is experiencing, she tries to make sense of as well. Helen is mute because of the trauma she has experienced, but theirs is a communication that needs no words.

The deeper you get into the story, the faster the suspense momentum picks up. The scenes with the antagonist made my skin crawl and more than a little tense. Even though there wasn't really any doubt who it was, it was a mystery when they would strike and how. The heroine's dream sharing was also creepy with some pretty dark moments, but they once again showed her bravery in the face of pure evil.

This was another good addition to the series which can be read as a standalone, but I would suggest reading at least one of the previous books first for the best reading experience.

NEVER LET ME FALL is the third instalment in Abbie Roads’ contemporary, adult FATAL DREAMS paranormal, romantic suspense series. This is police department consultant Thomas Brown, and former inmate Helena Grayse’s story line. NEVER LET ME FALL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the story in order for back story.

NOTE: NEVER LET ME FALL contains scenes of graphic violence and sexual abuse, and may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.

Told from several third person perspectives including Thomas and Helena NEVER LET ME FALL follows the building relationship between police department consultant Thomas Brown, and former inmate Helena Grayse. Ten years earlier Helena was sentenced to prison for a crime she did not commit but Helena found herself the target of a prison gang, a gang determined to end her life. Upon release from prison, a battered and battle -scarred Helena headed back to the family home, a home now owned by consultant Thomas Brown. When the attacks against Helena’s life continue on the outside, Thomas is determined to protect the woman that literally calls to his heart, a woman with whom he is psychically tethered. What ensues is the building but struggling relationship between Thomas and Helena, and the potential fall-out as Thomas’s past is determined to own him body and soul, a malevolent past that is closely connected to the woman he loves.

Thomas Brown has a special ability of which only a few are aware. With his ability to ‘read’ and ‘see’ the shadow of death, Thomas is surprised when Helena’s aura is a beacon of colour and light, colour he hasn’t seen in too many years. Helena has survived the prison abuse but was unaware of the how and why. Keeping to herself, remaining quiet in the face of danger and death, Helena continues to be targeted for sins of the past.

The relationship between Thomas and Helena is one of immediate attraction. Thomas knows immediately, with one touch, that Helena is his soulmate -her nearness allows Thomas to see colours and light; his touch heals that which would have killed a lesser human. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

NEVER LET ME FALL is a story of heartbreak and pain; family and loss; betrayal and vengeance. The premise is dark, gritty and raw; the romance is fated; the characters are broken, damaged and lost.

Fatal Dreams #3, Each of the Fatal Dreams books can be read as a standalone. While this one didn't quite have the same umph as Roads last three books it was still a fantastic read. Very deep in the internal conflict of recognizing who they are together and what they are becoming. A dark fairy tale/folklore at the root of it all tells a tale of never ending love and the power it holds and the reincarnated souls that carry on that power.

Thomas Brown lost the ability to see color when his step father tried to kick his face in, the resulting damage caused serious problems to the optic nerve. He also has the ability to see a person's "death shadow" which tells him basically how evil a person really is and after a person dies it can show him the person's life up until their death. Helena Greyse was tried and convicted for a murder she never committed and spent the last ten years fighting for her life. Helen survived many attacks while in prison some that should have killed her, even her last night there she barely made it out with her life. When they meet for the first time, the day Helen was released, they both knew their lives have unequivocally changed. Helen has brought color to Thomas' life and for the first time in ten years Helen felt safe with Thomas. Thomas and Helen's lives are tied together in so many ways but there is still one giant obstacle for them to overcome. Can their love overcome this common enemy who has been a source of pain for them both?

Overall, this book was outstanding it's an emotional read, it's dark, it's paranormal, it's suspenseful, it's heavy on the internal conflict without the characters sounding whiny and useless. They are each other's strength, they are the balm for their souls it's a beautiful insta-love romance. The external conflict wasn't as traumatizing for me as the other two, it was still bad but it almost feels like it was glossed over and leaves you with just assuming how bad the events were; but it was still good and I loved the conclusion.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I didn't realize that this was book three of a series but most of the book is understandable as a stand alone. The theme behind the series - Fatal Dreams - was what I did not understand at first, but after a few chapters was able to understand.

Parts of the book were pretty intense and hard to read. This is not a quick flirty romance but is filled with drama and intrigue and parts very dark. Helena survived in prison after being falsely accused of murdering her boyfriend.

Thomas survived a terrible childhood and can only see in black and white until Helen came into his life and he can see in color. Before they can get their happily everafter, they must survive multiple people trying to kill them.

Only part that I wanted to know is what happened to Rory's mother and the prison guard? I realize that in the end, they helped Helena but they initially tried to have her killed.

Abbie Roads creates the most beautifully damaged characters. Yet while each has survived their own personal hell, they are more beautiful for it.

Never Let Me Fall, the 3rd installment in Roads’ Fatal Dreams series, starts with introducing us to Helena. She’s lived in hell for 10 years for a crime she didn’t commit. She hasn’t spoken in 9 years, because it’s not like anyone was listening. Helena just wants to say goodbye to what’s left of her previous life and move far far away.

Thomas hasn’t seen color since his step-father kicked him in the face. The same stepfather who gave his older sister, Evanee to his son to be abused. Malone made his and his sister’s childhoods a living hell. But just as he lost color in his life, he gained the ability to see the “shadow of death”.

And here’s where Roads really pours on the magic. She brings two damaged souls together, to create something magical and whole. Helena becomes a warrior to save others when they don’t know how to fight for themselves. Thomas shows Helena the road to healing her own wounds and soul.

I LOVE the legend of Nameless and Bear. Roads’ prose is both beautiful and poetic. The world she’s created lives right along aside the one we live in. Roads has mastered the very delicate balance of reality and magic to make you believe this could really happen. Roads also keeps you guessing, wondering what’s around the next corner, or in this case, on the next page.

I hope Roads has more Fatal Dreams waiting in the wings because I am already craving more!

Not my cup of tea. The premise is bizarre and I really don't like the fact that they sleep together IMMEDIATELY all while she can't talk. Or really communicate at all. Nope. Didn't finish.

Unique! Roads delivers captivating characters that will carry you away. Helena and Thomas are beautifully paired. These two wounded warriors deliver a story that will stay with you. Never Let Me Fall has dark undertones with non stop moments of intrigue and danger. It's a enthralling page turner. Helena and Thomas will fight to the very end to protect each other. I can't wait to read more from Abbie Roads.

I feel like I’m really missing something here…

Admittedly, I didn’t read the other books in this series, but that’s not usually a problem with most books. I’m usually a pretty quick study, and the majority of authors put in enough clues to let me know what I might have missed in previous books. So, I don’t think my confusion is caused by the fact that I didn’t read the other books in the series. I think this book is just unnecessarily weird and complicated.

First of all, it’s a paranormal romance that doesn’t have any vampires, werewolves, or shapeshifters. I actually really like that. I ADORE paranormal romances that don’t go the obvious route. But here’s what didn’t work for me with this one…

It’s all over the place:
There’s sooooooo much going on in this book. You’ve got the heroine’s fight for survival in prison, then you’ve got the hero’s supernatural abilities (which keep developing and morphing into more supernatural abilities, because having a hero with just one supernatural ability would be boring, amirite?), the people who want to hurt the heroine once she’s out of prison, the people who want to hurt the hero (because REASONS), the hero’s tragic past...it’s just exhausting. I made it to about the 50% mark in the book before I was worn out and just gave up.

Instalove:
Now, I’m usually willing to overlook instalove when it happens in a shifter romance novel. But when it happens in a non-shifter novel, it really irks the crap out of me. In this book, the hero sees the heroine for the first time, and the power of, I dunno, her spirit/awesomeness/beauty heals him of a physical disability that was caused by a childhood injury. And, before she’s even said a single word to him outloud (because REASONS), they’re falling into bed and realizing they’re soul mates. It was just too much for my bullshit meter to handle.

Boooorrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg:
At some point, I’m sure that all the little extraneous details (like the story in the beginning about the history of some ancient totem pole that went on for, like, a hundred years) were paid off. But I didn’t make it far enough in the story to find out. So as it stands, I was just bored with all the extra details that didn’t seem relevant to the story in any way. I’m sorry, but in a romance, I think the hero and heroine should meet within the first few pages, and the story should proceed from there. The romance is the most important part of the story, and if it isn’t, then you’re not reading (or writing) a romance.

Long-story-short, this one wasn’t my cuppa. It was just too weird for me.

There were two options for Helena - live or die. This is her last night in Fairson Reformatory For Women. The Eight Sisters Posse hated her the moment she had came in the prison placing her at the bottom of the food chain. She had understood the Sisters hatred but over the years she had learned they thought she thought she was better than them. They thought that because she wasn’t a junkie, had an education, and the thing they hated most is she acted innocent. Helena didn’t bother telling them she was innocent of murdering her boyfriend Rory Ellis. They wouldn’t have believed her, no one believed a felon. Four of the sisters slept in Dorm B where Helena slept. There was bunk beds -five high- and fifty people slept in this dorm. But tonight there was one sigh- a signal from the Sisters Then Helena saw the Sisters slowly moving from different directions. The Sisters always attacked in numbers. Then Carrie said they are coming. Thomas brown drove toward a pain and purgatory he couldn’t deny. The night conspired to soothe the smothering anxiety that had taken over him every since he got called out for this case. Thomas couldn’t see colors anymore. His memory told him those flashes weren’t plain. Thomas had been kicked in the face by his stepfather when he was five years old and lost his color vision. The act of remembering color made him yearn for a beauty he would never again have. Every car in the county there was out a line of police cars. Murder was big news. Thomas saw a mottled shadow of sorts settle around the cops. The first time Thomas had seen a shadow was when he awakened from his stepfather’s kick to the face, Being without an adult vocabulary he called it the shadow monster. But over the decades Thomas had come to call it what it was the shadow of death. Thomas stepfather was a cop. Thomas wasn’t usually called for a case so close to home. He should just drive off. But each murder solved might prevent another murder, every case he helped to solve -, every perpetrator held accountable, eased a tiny bit of the anger and hurt that his stepfather Malone would never be brought to justice for what he had done to Thomas. Thomas had a scar on his face that covered half his cheek, ran up his his temple, and spanned a portion of his forehead from Malone. Even now people stared at it but Thomas didn’t mind it was a blazing condemnation no one else saw it that way but Malone knew. That was enough for now. Thomas went to the dead man and crouched down, he was going to commune with the shadow of death. That was the official explanation of his ability. The death shadow shared the man’s life with Thomas. It was like watching a video except deeper and more a time lapse , thoughts and feelings real though. The man’s experiences from birth to death were now Thomas’s. Helena was finally out after a decade in prison. This was freedom and Helena was going to have to adjust to it. Helena went to Rory’s grave and thought of the past how she had been naive and home schooled by her grandparents so she didn’t have much practice interacting with other people then she met Rory and fell in love - she thought back to Franklin's bakery which was where her and Rory’s first date took place. Their relationship had been nice and easy and for her different. Her first boyfriend, her first lover , her first heartbreak. Everyone had blamed Helena for Rory’s death but what made it worse someone got away with Cory’s murder. Helena saw a man about fifty feet away and somehow he brought her pleasure. But Fairson had fractured Helena and until she healed she wasn’t fit for public consumption. She planned on leaving this place that held so much pain for Helena. The man Helena had seen was Thomas. Helena had brought color to Thomas and Thomas felt he needed her - emotionally, physically, sexually. Thomas ran after Helena. She completed him, she made up for all his deficiencies. It physically hurt to see her walk away taking color and beauty with her. She also didn’t have a shadow of death.
I loved this book. It was a beautiful romance of two broken souls who were helping each other heal. But there is also suspense and danger of a creepy serial killer after Helena. I didn’t want to put this down this down as I wanted to see what was going to happen next. It held my attention from the first page until the last. I loved the plot and pace. I advise you to read the first two books of the series for a smoother read. I loved Thomas and Helen together and how they interacted with each other. I loved the character and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

Never Let Me Fall is intriguing, suspenseful, tender, dark, sexy and so much more all wrapped up in one gripping story that will keep your attention throughout. Although you “could” read this one on its own, I do strongly suggest picking up the first two stories in the series if at all possible. There are characters and events involved in a light way from the earlier books. While that doesn’t directly change how Thomas’ and Helena’s story develops, it would give you a better background into this world, and enhance the enjoyment of this story – in my opinion.

Both Thomas and Helena are wounded souls, each broken in different ways. As you read their backgrounds you will hurt for what fate has dealt these two people. And maybe thank fate for bring them into each other’s lives. I hesitate on how much to say for there are many twists, turns and unexpected events, along with the paranormal slant, that it would be easy for the wrong information to slip… and I don’t willingly do spoilers. So, let me do this… I was caught up in Helena and Thomas’ world so very easily. I was drawn in from the first chapter and got more involved as the story developed. I liked them each individually, but together they shine. If you believe that fate draws us to the right people, then I would consider them fated mates. Each enhances the other, fills up an empty space that no one else can fill. The suspense will lead you down dark roads, some things you may see coming, others… not a clue til it happens. I enjoyed this story very much and would not hesitate to recommend it for readers of Paranormal, Romance or Suspense.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

A past lacking in colour, steeped in violence... embracing destiny to give you the capacity to redefine your worth…

I have been so privileged to have read some wonderful books through 2018. Then there are the books you read that take your reading journey to the next level. Those books that bring out so much emotion. They leave your reeling, astonished, shaken yet challenge your intellect at the same time. It’s those books that draw you into the very emotional fabric of the story, they make you not only feel, they make you think deep on the psychology of the mind, what drives our actions, thoughts and behaviours, why we act the way we do. What has shaped our existence, what taunts our emotional, mental and physical wellbeing and our will to survive… One of those books… is NEVER LET ME FALL by Abbie Roads.

There are standout moments within the confines of NEVER LET ME FALL, that I was literally holding my breath, the suspense heightened... hoping good would ultimately prevail… then a brief moment of empathy. ok. .. so it doesn’t last long but still that moment for the bad character/s when all starts to unravel… and the why’s are exposed. That is an exceptionally, talented author.

Abbie Roads has gifted you an emotionally charged, impeccably crafted, story with NEVER LET ME FALL, Book 3 in her FATAL DREAMS series. Beautifully intense words, an extraordinary tale, steeped in paranormal legend, that captivates from the start until it’s compelling conclusion. You’ll delve into the murkiness of innocence destroyed and it’s emotional roller coaster of feeling. It’s a story that leaves you feeling shattered, heartbroken, torn at the depravity and systematic abuse of life and love. Just how far this insidious evil stretches is mind-boggling. At the same time, Abbie weaves those precious threads of hope and goodness… learning that the gifts of love, trust, faith, caring, and compassion are not only powerful, in the right hands, they are the very tools that give you the capacity to redefine your worth and value.

If you are a fan of dark paranormal, romantic and psychological suspense... you will read and then want to binge read the rest of this series. Intriguing, dark romantic suspense, a psychologically gripping story, soaking you in a minefield of emotional pain that leaves you wondering if there is enough hope and goodness left to overcome a lifetime of abusive wrongs.

I could not get enough of Abbie Roads and the way she embraces the connections of family, love, and friendship, throughout her story. How we handle and conquer the fears that have been instilled for a lifetime. Such a touching and heartfelt book. Without the other half of your heart and soul, you are fractured, never complete. It may provide tough reading aspects for some, so worth every moment of your time as you sink inside the pages and get swept up into this storm of vulnerability, intrigue and drama, and how Thomas and Helena manage their journey.

Rating 5/5

A tear-jerking romance with a touch of paranormal and magic to sweeten this deal. Helena and Thomas are such true soulmates that you are sure to fall in love with them as they did with each other. The cover is a perfect illustration of the story and proves that life lacks luster without that one person who brings magic to it. This book absorbed my whole focus, keeping me on the edge of my seat with it continuous twists and turns. Expect the unexpected with this book and you will find yourself satisfied with a perfect romance for the season.

This book was dark and twisted, with great bursts of light. I absolutely LOVED it! Abbie Roads is a new author to me. After this one book, she is on my auto-buy list. This story is the third in the Fatal Dreams series, though it stands alone quite well even though the books are related. I must go back and read the others...I have a burning need to see what I missed!

This story has breathtaking action right off the bat. Helen, who was unjustly convicted for murder, is about to be paroled after 10 years. A gang who tormented and tortured her that entire time was not going to let Helen leave alive. Her attempted escape had me holding my breath. Our heroine began to have extremely odd, disturbing dreams once she met our hero. Though Helen's life has become an unending nightmare, she is still one tough cookie!

Then we have our tortured hero Thomas. ~Sigh~ I just loved Thomas! Thomas was scarred badly from his stepfather stomping his face when he was 5 years old . Tragically, he can only see in black and white. No colors at all, until he meets Helen. Also, Thomas can see the death shadows of people both living and dead. When someone dies, he is called in by law enforcement to read the deceased's shadow, and is able to see their past and how they died.

These two were destined for each other. Literally.

What follows is a non-stop ride of depravity and darkness. Malone is one of the vilest villains I've chanced to read in a long time. But then there is the light of Helen and Thomas, illuminating the story. I loved their beautiful connection, plus the heat they have for each other. This book is an unending thrill ride that is not to be missed!

I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book from Net Galley. Fatal Dreams Series - Book 3. (Paranormal Suspense) Oh my goodness what an amazing, heartfelt book. Abbie's characters are damaged. You are immediately pulled into their tragic lives and root for them. You root for their recovery, you root for them to get together, you root for an HEA! The plot was amazing. I did not want to put this book down, but this is a full-length, satisfying novel. I'm glad it could be read as a standalone, but will definitely be reading the first two in the series.

I tend to forget that the Fatal Dreams series is a little darker and more twisted than a typical read. Never Let Me Fall is filled with flawed characters, histories of abuse, and twisted dreams. In this Ohio town, everyone's paths seem to cross and crisscross and secrets never stay that way. Thomas, our hero, is a consultant for the BCI. His special talent? Reading the death shadows and know the cause and manner of death. The price of his talent is his ability to see color. Our heroine, Helena, is a down on her luck felon who spent years in prison for a murder she didn't commit. Once Thomas sees Helena, he can actual see colors for a moment. There is that instant attraction factor between them and each recognizes the lunacy of their feeling, but both have enough experience with the weird or unexplainable that they don't dwell on it much.

All the characters in the Fatal Dreams series have tragic pasts. Messed up, abused, and pretty much destroyed in every way a person can be is what these characters endured. They aren't perfect but they have moved beyond their circumstances and try to carve a life for themselves. People in this crazy Ohio town keep throwing trouble their way though. Seriously, why would anyone live in a place like this? Nothing good ever happens in this town! (As an Ohioan I am a pretty sure this is a dig at Ohio in general)

The plot of Never Let Me Fall is very twisty. Like I said, nothing good happens in this town, so there is no shortage of bad guy/girl suspects. There is also no shortage of danger, near death experiences, and violence. This is a blend of paranormal, suspense, and dark romance that always keeps me reading long past my bed time. Roads crafts supremely interesting stories that delve into tragic topics, supernatural skills, and love that changes everything

Another beautifully written novel by Abbie. I couldn't put this down. I am in love with this series. This was a bit easier to figure out than the others, but still a great ride. 3.5/5

An innocent mute woman locked up for a crime she didn’t commit gets out of prison and meets a man that can only see black and white. That is, until he meets her. A dark tale, but one ultimately of hope and romance-once they can get past the evil that awaits them both.

Thomas Brown is horribly scarred due to his step-father torturing him. He works with the police because he has a special paranormal power that helps him see what happened previous to the murder and also see people’s souls. The fly in the ointment is that his job puts him in proximity with his step-father, otherwise known as the sheriff in town. Or more importantly, the monster that made his life hell when he was young. Helena Grayse is fresh out of prison after ten years when she sees Thomas across the cemetary where he is attending his mother’s funeral. They are drawn to each other and don’t know why, but she leaves quickly. Later he meets her again when he finds her camping on his land during a snowstorm. Of course, he takes her in.

This is the third installment of what I think is a trilogy about a legend from hundreds of years ago. Two other couples have been involved in this same legend and each has had their own book. The couples find each other and pretty much immediately fall into bed or wherever they happen to be. That was the one thing about each of these books that bugged me. Insta-love of course, but attributed to the story of the legend. So there is a reason. I just keep thinking, can’t they wait a couple of days? But that’s just me. In addition to the sex, they are totally swept up with each other and have to be by their other half most of the time.

So all this is going on and that’s not even mentioning what was going on at the prison the night before she got out-that was pretty horrific. Back in the small town she is from, most people know who she is and most think she killed her beloved boyfriend. The boyfriend’s mother is inconsolable that she is out and she’s determined to kill her-and she’s not even the worse villain in this story. I think I will leave it at that.

I loved both of the main characters, but my favorite would have to be Helena. She has been through so much at the hands of a horrible bad man and she, although mute, is still not completely broken. She is, in a way, still an innocent, although prison nearly killed her. Thomas is a good guy. That’s saying a lot for a man that has gone through so much himself. His power to see people’s souls enables him to know immediately if someone is a good person or not. Kind of a handy power to have, I would think. And of course, he is using it for good.

The writing was good, as it was in the previous books, and each book took me on a paranormal journey with each couple. At times they had me on the edge of my seat with the suspense involved. It was a dark read at times, so keep that in mind. Actually all three books are pretty dark. You don’t have to read them in order, but I think they would make more sense if you started at the beginning with, Race the Darkness, book one.

Recommended to adult paranormal romance readers, especially ones that aren’t bothered by a dark read. Good book!

Never Let Me Fall is the third book in Abbie Road’s Fatal Dreams Series. You don’t have to read the other two books to enjoy this one, but they are connected. Thomas Brown is a consultant for law enforcement. He has the ability to see people’s true souls amongst other things. One day, he stumbles upon a mystery woman named Helena Grayse who has a connection to him that is beyond reality. They are fated to be together. Interestingly enough, she has a hidden power of her own that becomes unlocked the moment she meets Thomas.

There is so much to like about this book. Never Let Me Fall is a very intriguing romantic suspense that keeps you on your toes from beginning to end. The sexual energy between Thomas and Helena is powerful and very much X-rated. Plus, it’s easy to see that this couple is truly better together than they are apart. The legend behind their connection carries over from the other books. They are another incarnation of Fearless and Bear who had the ability to heal each other as long as they are touching. Sadly, there is also a tragic story of abuse that also carries over too. The Thomas and Helena endured a lot of pain and suffering before they met each other. It’s only by pure perseverance that they even live long enough to meet. They are a couple that you can’t help but want to succeed. Unfortunately, there is someone in the background looking to do them harm and they must embrace their abilities to save each other.

Although Never Let Me Fall is a good book, I must note that it could be somewhat hard to stomach some of the abuse that occurs. This book it is not meant for the faint of heart. This is a love story but there is a lot of violence and some perversion to go along with it. Abbie Roads makes sure that the road to the happy ending is very much a bumpy road. I look forward to reading more books from her. She is very creative and has no problem with pushing the envelope.

***5 Stars***

If you’ve read any of the Fatal Dreams books you know that you need to keep your mind open to...well...basically everything (and if you haven’t, well, now you do). You need to simply accept that everything is possible and just roll with it because you will be taken on a journey and boy did this one take me on a journey. This one I pretty much devoured in no time flat and even gave me a “Whoa” moment that I wasn’t expecting, but ended up making absolute sense in the end.

Helena and Thomas. There is so much I want to say about both of them, but that would involve me being all spoilery, which I try not to do. So, what I will say is that my heart bled for all they had endured in their lives and I couldn’t help but admire the strength they both had, even when they didn’t see it, to survive it all…and this is all before they even collide. But once they do all bets are off and I loved watching them both become more, not only for themselves but for each other.

And there is the story as a whole. There are a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing as to what was really going on, which had me #multitasking as I kept turning the pages to see what would happen next and if that next piece of the puzzle would clue me in to just what the hell was going on and when it did...it was a total “whoa” moment and at that point I couldn’t put the book down because I NEEDED to know how everything would work out in the end.

I didn’t expect this one to grab hold of me the way it did, but everything in this book just worked for me and I couldn’t put it down. This one tackles a bunch of dark themes, so if you have triggers you’ve been warned. And while this one can be read as a stand-alone, I do recommend that you read the first two in the series, especially since we get to catch up with Lantham and Evanee, to get a good feel for what the series is about.

This is the first book I have read by this author and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the supernatural aspect of the connection between the main characters. I did feel that at points the story was rushed. As this is third in the series, I feel that reading the preceding books, as where is not necessary, is recommended as the previous characters do make appearances.
