Mason James is a very private rancher who does not like reporters. Tessa Kane is a desperate reporter sent to get the scoop on his pro hockey player brothers wedding.
Tessa and Mason click instantly, will it be true love, a tasteful article or can it be both?

I want to thank the Author and Net Galley for giving me the ARC of this book.
I have not read the first book, but thinking of getting it too.
This story has it all for anyone over 2o that has had powerful order siblings to follow, hardships
and or guilt for an event you may or may not have caused. Are shy and prefer to stay in the shadows. And have felt like you had no choices left, even if you knew what you were doing was wrong. Mason feels like he has nothing to offer and feels unwanted.
I loved the way the story was written, Tess has hit bottom, thanks to a off beat grandma Mimi, and thinks she has only one way to help her. Then she meets Mason who has a rich pro Hockey star
older Brother, Rock who women have used him to get close too. Mason doesn't trust his own feelings anymore. When Mason and Tess meet accidentally it is one of the best parts of the story! Tess and Mason have wonderful chemistry right from the start. Add in some great family members, like Aunt Sassy and his mother Tess and the rest of Mason's family. The ranch, pets, bad guys, nasty boss who wants to fire her and lots of love and understanding. How could this not be a page turner!
Also the shy love scenes, and the really hot ones too. Something for everyone, grab some coffee and get to reading, your going to love it and have to keep reading till the end. Which is wonderful

I saw that this book had a good amount of stars but I didn't the reasons why. I started reading and closed it to read another book, and a couple of days later went back and started again with literally no desire and that should tell you enough. Anywho it is not that the book is bad, because it is not it just had these off the wall scenarios.(and I will explain in few) So we meet Tessa who is a journalist and your heart go out to her, she is living with her grandmother who has lost all of their money, she has a beat up car and her boss fires her but gives her a chance to stay with the job if she gets info on a famous hockey player. Tessa ends up meeting Mason and there is instant chemistry but Tessa is keeping this secret from him while she tries to dig up dirt on Rockward who is Mason's brother. Her grandmother is a selfish person so while Tessa gets her what she needs she wasn't grateful, so that bugged. me. Mason finally finds out and is heartbroken deservedly so since other woman have used him to get to his brother, and Tessa wasn't after Rockward due to attraction but she still used Mason and he didn't deserve that. Anyways they did get their HEA and I enjoyed parts of the book so it can pass the time for a rainy afternoon.

I really didn't like this book, I simply found it boring and very corny. I did not feel connected to any of the characters especially the main character. I also found the ending a bit far fetched and ridiculous. I would not recommend this book.

I had been looking forward to this story, after I read book one of this series, and absolutely loved .
I have to confess, that I was disappointed. The story centers around Mason James and Tessa Kane.
Mason has always felt like the second choice, and second fiddle to his famous NFL brother. Women tend to use him to get to his brother. His brother is about to be married and a weekend of festivities is being held . In comes Tessa, a reporter , who has been dumped by her blind date to the party, and just got fired from her job. Unless, she can get the dirty scoop on Mason’s brother and future sister in law.
Of course, there is an immediate attraction but Tessa keeps her secrets of who she is and what she’s planning to do. Add to that a grandmother that has given money away, is about to lose her home and caricature type loan sharks and it starts getting of the wall.
Somehow, the plot never engaged me and the characters didn’t hold my attention. I didn’t particularly liked Tessa for her deception and the grandmother for putting Tessa in a spot.
That said, I will read the next book in the series, hoping that I will like it more.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

There’s a lot to like about this story. Sizzle, wit, great dialogue and heat. However, I hate stories that have one of the main characters acting in an unethical manner. Deceit is hard to forgive, even in a fictional character! So for me, having a character acting in a deceitful manner can ruin the story.

First of all Jennie Marts is a new author to me!!
Mason's and Tess story was a mixture of romance & sweet cowboy!!It was lovely and overall a good book!!! I really enjoyed it !!!

What an amazing and emotional read. I couldn't put this down.

There were so many things I liked about this book. I loved the chemistry between the leads. I also loved the banter. Holy buckets, Mason was one steamy cowboy!! I also liked that Tess was relatable. There were times she was sexy and confident but yet there were times that she was a little more vulnerable. I liked that Mason recognized this and appreciated both parts of her.

The book was both wonderful and hard to read. It was like a train wreck that you couldn't stop but boy did you ever. From the very beginning I just "liked" Mason and Tess together. They fit if you will. However as the reader, you know the secret that Tess is keeping and it was hard to keep reading knowing that Mason was going to be devastated. I wanted to shake Tess and tell her that while I understand her reasoning for doing what she is doing, this just isn't right and you are going to hurt a good man. The writing was done so well that you wanted to finish it because you just wanted these two to work it out and get their happily ever after.

I also liked the character of Sassy and Tess's grandma.

Tess & Mason. What can I say about this perfect romance? You Had Me At Cowboy by
Jennie Marts is pretty close to as perfect as contemporary romance can get. Humor, pathos, tears, and sweet & sensual love scenes. Great supporting cast.

Tess is a reporter who crashes the wedding of Mason's older brother, Rock to his girlfriend Quinn, searching for the dirt for a story. That's hockey star Rock & Mason has always felt like the also-ran next to his more successful,  flashier brother. Except Tess only has eyes for Mason so when he impulsively asks her to be his plus one that weekend, she accepts. She tells herself she can handle her conscience when she hides her real reason for being there.

Mason is a great guy, a chivalrous guy who loans the shirt off his back who goes out of his way to make sure everyone else is doing okay before he ever worries about himself. He's a good guy & he's successful in his own right. Tall and sexy. He finds Tess's tall curvy figure irresistible but she is kind-hearted and helpful and they enjoy each other's company.  Falling into bed is inevitable. It's insta-love, some would say. I say it's meant to be.

There's some humor with Tess's grandmother Mimi along the way.

This was my first story by Jennie Marts & I'd be happy to read more.

My only pet peeve was the occasional head-hopping on the third person point of view. You know  start the scene in one character's & switch to the other's.

I recommend You Had Me At Cowboy.

Thank you to Net Galley for the opportunity to read and provide my honest review of You Had Me At Cowboy.

It was easy at times to forget the reason why Tess was at Mason's ranch for the weekend. I think she forgot at times too.
They make such a cute couple.

I really enjoyed this book but I couldn’t give it 5 stars because it was a little slow at times and I didn’t really like Mimi. I loved Tess and Mason though and would happily read more books about them or the rest of Mason’s family.

You Had Me At Cowboy by Jennie Marts is a fast-paced contemporary romance with a western theme. Ms. Marts has delivered a well-written book. The characters in this book are totally awesome. Tessa is a reporter assigned to get the dirt on Rockford James. Through a series of mishaps and bad luck, she ends up attending a party with Mason, Rockford's brother. Mason and Tessa's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and a bit of angst. I enjoyed reading You Had Me At Cowboy and if I hadn't just read a few reporters forced to write an article against their will stories, I'd have probably rated this 5 stars. I'm a little burnt out on them, so that's a personal preference. To other readers, this could easily be a 5-star read. I look forward to reading more from Jennie Marts in the future. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love heart warming, emotional romances & Jennie Marts has become one of my favorite authors. Tessa is a quiet, shy, unassuming woman who tries to sink into the shadows. The trauma after her parents died in a car accident pulled her personality further back. Mason has pulled back from the community because he feels he has nothing to offer anyone. If any girl shows an interest in him, he thinks they are trying to use him to get to his rich, hockey star brother, Rock. When Tessa & Mason run into each other, it’s instant chemistry. What’s Mason going to do when he finds out why Tessa is there?

Tessa & Mason are actually perfect for each other. They both see beyond what the public sees to the person behind. They’ve both been traumatized by events in their pasts that have shaped their personalities into what they are. This was another good story by Ms. Marts & I can’t wait for Colt’s story!

You Had Me at Cowboy by Jennie Marts is a cute story. I enjoyed reading it. What is not to enjoy as you loving family, a small town, and cowboys? The main characters Mason and Tess worked well together as their relationship came together. Loved all the secondary characters also. It made me chuckle in a few spots too. I recommend this story and look forward to more books from Jennie Marts in the future.

This book started off well and then it rapidly went downhill and I had to force myself to finish it for doing this review. I have not read any other books by Jennie Marts and honestly I won't be reading more. At first I thought it was going to be a great book. The author adds humorous moments but it goes from fairly funny to trying way too hard to be humorous. I could go on and on but I will end it by saying I would not recommend this book. Big disappointment.

A cute, small town romance with hot cowboy/hockey players--2fers. Totally fell in love with the James family. Their family dynamics and ethics were quite refreshing.
I liked the story concept, it had all the feels and the heat between Tess and Mason was, oh, so high, and beautiful at the same time. I felt their connection thru the words.
However good intentions do not make good bedfellows and this is where Tess and I fell apart. All the back and forth of her dilemma and her what to do's got a bit redundant, and made the first part of the book a bit slower than I like. If she was so comfortable with Mason, why didn't she just spit it out as she had several opportunities to come clean with Mason. We all know waiting never turns out well, that trope is well used. And yet she explained it to Rock and Quinn, so to me she was still putting the story first, no matter the circumstances.
Loved the addition of Dewey, a very special fur baby, bonus to any story.
MiMi and the mobsters, that was bazaar and should have had Mason feeling totally sorry for Tess, instant forgiveness right there lol.
Tess got her redemption in a huge way which was brave and sweet to face her fears which I really did admire.
All in all a good read because the author made you feel whether it's good, bad or all the in betweens, it had an HEA that I loved.
I received an ARC from Net Galley and am giving my honest review for You Had Me At Cowboy

Jennie Marts has always been one of my favorite authors as well as my "go to" author for authentic Western reads. I fell in love with her novels when she published the Hearts of Montana series and unfortunately haven't read any of her books since. Thankfully, I found this gem and my love for her work renewed! You Had Me at Cowboy is everything I wanted in a romance novel. It has a beautiful, small town feel, excellent characters, a little bit of drama to keep things interesting, and a swoon worthy hero! I am so excited to continue with this series because it's becoming an all time favorite of mine to lose myself in.

Tess is having one of the worst days ever. First her date for a wedding never shows, a bird poops on her, her clothes don't fit right, and she is caught half naked by Mason, the brother of the groom. Sparks fly, and that is the remainder of the story is the back and forth issues between the two. Overall, a good story, and I liked the characters, but I struggle with stories where things are based on a lie, and then the longer they wait the harder it is to tell. Other than that, I would recommend this book.

Tessa Kane finds herself in an untenable position, she must dig up the dirt on a hockey star, Rockford James, at his pre-wedding party or lose her job, the one she desperately needs to try to save her gram's house.
When she arrives at the party, the 'date' she helping by accompanying him, calls to tell her, he's ditching her. Dithering, she decides to go anyway and meets the hockey star's brother Mason, aka the brother of the groom....and falls in lust at first sight.
They spend time together and despite some unfortunate, but humorous events, have a good time and he invites her to stay...as HIS date.
A moral dilemma as well as one of the heart.
She stays the week and they grow really close, all while the guilt is eating at her.
An opportunity to talk to Rock and his fiancee leads to an article, not the one her boss wants, but when Mason finds out, he dumps her.
The book is full of humor, anxiety, lust and romance.. A fun way to pass the time.
I requested and received a Net Galley ARC to peruse.
