This is the second book in this series. This book is better than the first book in this series and the first book was fabulous. This book had it all. It had hockey players, cowboys and even a grandma who made everything even more fun. This book just grabbed and held my attention from the very first chapter. I loved Mason and Tess together. They had a lot of chemistry and they not only burned up the pages they made you laugh and smile too. The storyline had just enough drama to keep you guessing until the very end. I cannot wait to see what this author has in store for us next. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Jeannie Marts has a winner with this sweet and funny Cowboy book. It was a wonderful read and the Characters are genuine and witty.
Tess Kane was having the worst day of her life when she met one handsome Cowboy named Mason James. When Mason asks her to be his plus one for all the wedding events she sees her chance to make her life better with one story for her magazine. Mason and his family weren't what she bargained for and she may lose everything.
Mason had been burned before and women were not on his radar when he met one at the beginning of his brothers' wedding festivities. Then along comes Tess and makes him rethink everything.
Will she be able to keep from hurting the man she is starting to have feelings for?
It's a wonderful read.

Mimi is hysterical in this book, from sending all her money to some African prince scam artist, to driving around in her precious Mini Cooper and borrowing money from the loan shark with the nicer name, she was the comic relief in this book. I love that Rock and Quinn’s story continues in this book and that they are getting married. It is so good to have them together and see their relationship growing. Mason is just a cowboy hero in this book, seems to be always coming to the rescue of Tess. It is super funny how they meet up in the closet and how things keep getting messier and messier betwee them. The migraine in no joke and Mason finding and coming to her rescue yet again just showed how much of a great guy he really is. This is great book, one you will not be able to put down. Excellent characters and great overall theme of the book.

I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for small towns, cowboys, and main characters with close-knit families. You Had Me At Cowboy by Jennie Marts checked each of those boxes for me in some very delightful ways.

Now, I will admit that Tessa Kane, our lead female, doesn’t have a lot in common with me… about eight inches of not in common. *insert hysterical sobs here* She is a tall, curvy heroine who curses her height and the extra weight she gained following a painful break-up. Have I mentioned that she is tall? All whopping five-foot one-inch of me envies the build she despises. But I digress.

In a scene that puts the “cute” in “meet cute,” Tessa and her half naked self meet the charming, tenderhearted, and disgustingly handsome Mason James. Within their first few hours together he manages to give her his clothes, feed her his Mama’s good old fashioned home cooking, get her caught in a rainstorm, and break into the car she locked her keys and change of clothes in. From the first covert glances and timid smiles you can feel their attraction.

Only one problem… Tessa carries a secret. A big one.

She’s only at the event where they meet to gain dirt on Mason’s brother, NHL pro Rockford, and his super quick marriage to former high school sweetheart turned rekindled flame Quinn. Even her undeniable and overwhelming feelings for Mason can’t deter her from her prize because the article about Rock and Quinn is the solution to a massive issue her grandmother has found herself in.

But this also led me to my biggest issue with this story. I don’t want to reveal any spoilers (my hair isn’t curly enough, my accent not British enough, and my fandom references are probably not specific enough). Tessa’s grandmother’s sudden appearance at the ranch and the catalyst behind it felt very contrived and unauthentic to me. It was a subplot that was presented and resolved too quickly and, as a reader, gave me the impression it was plunked in to up drama/tension when it wasn’t necessary. Tessa and Mason’s issues had that in the bag.

You Had Me At Cowboy had some tender and sexy moments in addition to cautious exploration as they test the waters of lust that turned to like and then grew to more. It is a sweet, contemporary romance with all the charm of small town life that has been touched by fame. Starring a hot rancher who is disillusioned with the masks created by his brother’s celebrity status and the girl who shines a light of hope into his grumpy world while hiding the truth that brought them together.

Check it out when it is released in November!

Happy reading!

I love Jennie Marts - her books are smart, funny and romantic - the whole shebang. I love Mason and Tess - each has enough baggage for a team of Sherpas and her lies keep building up. She is stuck at a pre-wedding event for Mason's famous hockey playing brother when her own date doesn't show up. Then her boss assigns her to write a trashy expose about Rock (Mason's brother) and Quinn, the bride to be, which she doesn't want to do because she is a good and kind person yet she needs money to resolve her Grandma's debts. She even rescues a dog behind the town library. Mason is smitten and invites Tess to be his date for the rest of the wedding festivities. She falls in immediately with his family and they are taken with her as well. All the while she is torn about having to write the story because it is not her style. When she finally confesses to Mason, he is furious and hurt - thinking once again someone is using him to get to Rock. Meanwhile she writes a beautiful story and shares it with Rock and Quinn before turning it in. Rock and their Aunt Sassy help him see how wrong he's been about Tess in spite of her lie about the story and Tess shows up at the wedding - tackling her fear of public speaking - to try to get Mason back. A sweet and funny romance!

I received an arc from Netgalley. Mason and Tess meet in quite the unique way in this book and while Tess is trying to save her Grandmas home she finds herself in quite the dilemma. Does she fight to save her Grandmas home if it means lying to the man she is falling in love with?

"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."

Loved this book very much. It had the perfect mixture of cowboys & sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

This was the first book I've read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fun story with cute characters and a lighthearted plot. I really enjoyed most of the characters. Strong-willed Tess was interesting, rational, and fun and I enjoyed her--flaws and all. A few minor dislikes: I was a little disappointed that Mason became so incredibly insecure. His self-deprivation reached an annoying crescendo toward the end and I found it unfortunate and unappealing. And the scene with Tess's grandmother was a bit slapsticky. Neither of these criticisms prevented me from enjoying this book. I will definitely read other books by this author.

This was a sweet story with an insecure and somewhat shy hero, something not often portrayed in romance novels and a dimension I really liked. Mason is a handsome and successful rancher, yet he suffers from a serious case of jealousy and has an inferiority complex about his older brother Rockford, a famous hockey player. While the insecurity and shyness of our delectable hero is enjoyable and a refreshing detour from the usual self-assured, cocky and arrogant heroes, his self-esteem problems and his feelings towards Rock (who is just a great guy) are a bit hard to take, even if the situation depicted is totally relatable and credible (while reading I was just feeling as uncomfortable as Mason and hurting for him and his sense of defeat).
I had some problems with the heroine, Tess, also suffering from some insecurity, inadequacy and guilt issues. The lying and its “nefarious reasons” and the lack of ethics when doing her job were upsetting for me, although she redeems herself by the end of the story.
The insta-attraction/lust and insta-sex stories are not my favorite and I agree that this book has its “meh…” parts, although a bunch of great secondary characters (Mason’s family), a not so nice granny (Tess’s) and a promising future romantic and clumsy couple (Colt and Chloe) managed to keep me interested.

I enjoyed this book immensely! The story kept me enthralled to a point that I stayed up all night reading. Jennie Marts has become one of my favorite authors. The chemistry between the characters of Mason and Tees was off the charts. Add a little scruffy dog that that steals the hearts of the reader and the characters. And I sure hope to read Colt and Chile's story soon.

This is book 2 in a series and I really enjoy this authors stories and characters. I did like the first book more than this one, because this one seemed slower and had more laid back characters.

This story had some aspects I did not love, for instance Tess's grandmother and how she was scammed. I felt it was crazy and not something that realistically happens nowadays. I felt it was used to create sympathy for Tess and why she gate crashes the wedding and then uses Mason. So those were two aspects of the story I did not love.

That said I did enjoy the writing and characters. I found Mason a wonderful hunky cowboy who was fun and sweet. Tess is a hard worker and while I did not like how she uses Mason, I found her fun and likeable. This is a fun series and this book was as well written as the first book in the series.

You Had Me at Cowboy is the second sweet romance in the Cowboys of Creedence series written by author Jennie Marts. Cute characters and storyline. Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advance copy.

I really enjoyed this book. Of course I love that the main female character is a 5'9" not a size 2 female because it hits a little closer to home. Anyways it was a fun summer read!

This was better than the first one and I really liked the first! It had it all...girl meets boy, biy saves girl, girl falls in love with boy, girl lies to boy, boy breaks girl's heart....

There were parts rhat made me laugh our loud. There were even parts that brought tears. There were even dogs! It really did have it all. All I need now is Colt's story.

This book was gifted to me by the author and the publisher in return for an honest review. I give it 👍🏻👍🏻

Loved this book.
Mason has always felt like he is in his famous brother's shadow, but when he meets Tess he feels like she sees him as his own person. But she has a secret and what will happen when he finds out?
Great set of characters, especially the crazy grandmother Mimi.
I am hoping this is a series and there are more books to come!

LOVED this book! I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the Cowboys of Creedence series, and, if possible, this book is even better. I found myself totally engrossed from the very first page and hooked until the very last page. Tess's story (and back story) captivated me and had me rooting for her to get her HEA ending, especially if you could have a chance to have it with Mason, Rock's much lower profile brother. In the past, Mason has been convinced that women were only interested in him to get to his superstar hockey player brother, Rock, so the idea that a woman is interested in him, for himself, is too much to hope for. Then, when Tess's job has the potential to blow up their budding relationship, Mason is convinced he was right all along to not trust women.

This book literally had me flipping pages just as quickly as possible. If you are a fan of the genre, you will love this book. Put this at the top of your TBR list as this one is a must read! The author is on my must read authors' list.

This had all the elements of a good romance. It was a cute story where the good guy gets the good girl and was fun to read. I loved all the characters especially the dog named Dewey and the Mini cooper driving grandma. It had cowboys and hockey players and a little suspense. It was a very easy to read and enjoyable book.
