Dagger's Edge is a good fit for readers who enjoy romance novels with a thrilling and dangerous edge, where the past refuses to stay buried and love becomes a beacon of hope amidst adversity.

Disappointed. The story idea was fantastic, but the execution was flat. The beginning was confusing. There was too much repetition. A few events were way too far out of the realm of possibility,

The second book in the Brute Force series, it really illustrated Lora Leigh's ability to draw out scenes that are not only suspenseful but also action-packed and romantic. It captivates readers and draws them into the story in a way that makes it almost impossible to put down once you start reading. I personally wasn't able to get as invested in the characters as I would have liked, as the relationship between the MC's felt superficial at best considering as it was dominated by their sexual desire for each other and didn't seem to display any kind of emotional connection they may have had to one another. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the pacing, writing style, and overall plot. If you are interested in picking up a romantic suspense read, then I would definitely check this book out.

This is book 2 of the Brute Force Series. Ivan only wants to start a new life, free of the crime and danger he wants to escape. Unfortunately, Syn may be the one who pays his price. Can he save her and maybe find some peace and romance?

The past always comes back to haunt us no matter how hard we try to avoid it. The second story in the Brute Force series is a perfect reminder for us all of this fact and it is filled with danger and drama as Ivan and Syn come to terms with their shared past and find a path to the future they both desire. Ivan was an interesting character, one that on the surface is truly a bad guy, but as we dig deeper we see that he is doing the best to be a force for good while remaining in the shadowing world he was born into. Men like him have controlled the world for so long, but perhaps with him leading and finding a way to topple the corruption from the inside out there might be a way to bring some more light to the world. Syn has a lot of secrets and one especially large one she must keep from Ivan, but when he decides that he is not going to let her go, she has to find a way to escape with not only her life but also he heart intact. I enjoyed watching them sparring as they found a way to balance one another and survive the dangers circling them, but the sweet moments they shared were the best. The passions that ran high in both Ivan and Syn were undeniable and they made a perfect match for one another and once the truth of their relationship and past came to light it was amazing to watch the way their minds sparked off each other. I am looking forward to more in this interesting series, though I will say that there is a lot of times in the stories were I would love more detail and clarification on the overall arc of the series and would love to be filled in on the true mission of this group of shadowy operators, but hopefully that will come with more books. As always with a Leigh stories the sexual tensions and sensuality runs high, but there was plenty of action and plot to carry the story as well. Whatever comes next should certainly be intriguing.

Unfortunately I really couldn’t connect with the characters but hey the sex scenes were HOT!
I finished this book a long time ago and I was considering rereading it again but when I started it I felt the same way so I didn't continue.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

My father in law got very sick and my focus was too shattered to try and read. I will likely try again some day when my attention is stronger

This is the second in the Brute Force series and in my opinion it doesn’t quite manage to work as a stand alone and knowledge of the previous book in the series is definitely needed.

I really enjoyed the earlier book, but I have to be honest and say I struggled with this one. I think a big part of the problem was that I couldn’t really believe in Syn and Ivan’s love story. They had plenty of chemistry but their relationship seemed very superficial and I wasn’t convinced that they actually knew one another well enough.

As always the action was exciting and the plot sped along, but all in all it didn’t really live up to my expectations based on the earlier book.

I have been waiting for years to finally get this story and it was everything I expected  and more, but it also left me with more questions that I hope the author will answer in the future.

Here is the thing: the only way to understand the events in DAGGER'S EDGE is to read the Elite Ops series, particularly Live Wire because that's where Crimsyn "Syn" Delaney's story begins. She has been on the run from a powerful criminal organization for so long and just when she fears her luck has run out, fate steps in in the form of Ivan Resnova.

Ivan's reputation precedes him; he's exactly who Syn needs to take on the forces after her, and his feelings for Syn as well as his history with that organization are all the motivation he needs to go head to head with them. The stakes are too high for him to entertain failure of any kind.

If you came for the erotic, passionate and suspense-filled writing Ms. Leigh is famous for, then you'll definitely get all of that. I loved Ivan and Syn and everything about this story, and I especially loved the cameos from some of my favorite characters from the Elite Ops series. I'm obviously biased and will definitely tell you that if you have not read any of her work, her Tempting SEALs, Nauti and Elite Ops series should be your first stop, along with this series.

I didn't read book 1 in the series but I don't know if that mattered. Because what in the hell did I just read? The story made no sense for the first 25% of the book and never got easier to follow. This was so difficult to read and I couldn't wait to get off the struggle bus and be done with the book.

Well, this was a massive pile of nope. Christ where do I start? I really, really disliked this book. I genuinely cannot think of one thing I liked about it. Dagger's Edge by Lora Leigh is book 2 in the Brute Force series but the first I've read. It is usually around this point in my reviews where I tell you a little bit about the plot but I seriously have no idea what this book is about. I read (most) of Dagger's Edge and I probably understood about 20% of it. I didn't know what was going on. There were people who did crime, and fathers wanting to kill their children, and people with multiple names and a queen mother (wtf). I didn't get it. At all. I thought that maybe this was my fault, I shouldn't have jumped in at the second book but I have been reliably informed that the first book, Collision Point, is the same. Put simply, Dagger's Edge is bat shit crazy and not in a good way.

On top on being utterly confusing Dagger's Edge is also mind numbingly boring. For the longest time nothing happened. There was no action, intrigue. A book about someone picking up a coffee at Starbucks would have been more interesting than this. It got to the point where Lora Leigh could have blown up all the main characters and the planet Earth and I still wouldn't have cared.

Then there were the characters whose names were ridiculous. Teylor, Beau and of course Journey who after being forced to go on the run (sounds interesting, it wasn't) changes her name to...Crimsyn which isn't conspicuous at all. The name Crimsyn gave Ivan (another classic) an excuse to call her 'my little Syn', blurgh! Excuse me whilst I go and gouge my eyes out with a blunt object. Neither Ivan nor Journey/Crimsyn/My little Syn had any personality what so ever. They were underdeveloped and dull.

The romance was eye roll inducing. There was no build up, no tension, no chemistry. By the middle of chapter one they were already boneing. It was an endless description of him walking seductively towards her during a semi important conversation and her losing all will and sense of herself. I get it, whenever a man approaches me I also get an attack of the vapours, Jesus Christ. Basically it was bad.

I could read the first book in this series to see if it helps what I've just consumed any more understandable but I don't want to so I am not going to. I suggest you do the same.

Much better than the first book. This book had more of a story line than the first book. Still a little on the R rating but with more story less sex.

The beginning was a bit difficult to get through but eventually it all made sense.

Daggers Edge is a suspenseful romance thriller with high chemistry between the main characters. The plot is definitely my highlight, very well written.

I would very much recommend it be read from the first book onwards.

Unfortunately this book was just not for me. Outside of being confused on what was happening the relationships fell flat for me.

I’m not entirely sure why I requested this book, after being let down with book 1.

I DNF’d this book around 30%, because I felt the same redundancy as in Collision Point.

I try not to DNF books from Netgalley, but I’m always learning to value my time more and not waste it on books I just cannot get into.

This fabulous book is second in the Brute Force series and it features Ivan Resnova and Journey Taite. Journey has been helping Amara for six months. When it’s all over and Amara is safe, they end up at Amara’s fathers home. She doesn’t think he recognizes her but she’s wrong. How could he not recognize the daughter/ granddaughter of the men who murdered his mother and raped his aunt. Will his plan for revenge using Journey as a way to drive his enemies even more insane than they already are, end with something else entirely different?
This story is exciting, full of action, suspense and a beautiful erotic romance that this author is well known for writing.

The beginning was a little rocky. Also, switching between different “first person” paragraphs needed to be noted somehow. All in all, when the story got going, I was riveted and couldn’t put it down. If not for the confusing start this would have been a 5-Star read for me. I can’t wait for the next book in this fantastic series!

Loved the passion between Ivan and Syn aka Journey! Totally hot and loved the intensity of their connection. The story is entertaining and I liked the suspense with the danger after Syn. I do wish there was a bit more action and all the Queen mentions were just weird, but overall, I really enjoyed the story. I was getting tired of Syn thinking Ivan didn't know who she was, and how long it took for the true connection between them to be clarified, but the story flowed better than the first book. Interesting story with some unique ideas. Entertaining series so far!

The elite warriors of Brute Force are back! And this time we get a chance to get up close and personal with Ivan Resnova. Those familiar with the series know the enigmatic Russian crime boss who also happens to be Amara’s father. Of course we’re also familiar with the heroine, Journey or Crimsyn Delaney, as she is now known. And although I personally am not a fan of the “being in love with your best-friend’s father” storyline, the passion and chemistry between these two will keep you glued to your e-reader.

Ivan has finally located Journey or Syn as she has been known ever since she’s been on the run. There is a group of assassins after her and it seems that her best chance for survival is with the help of the archenemy of her father and grandfather and the man whom she’s had a crush on for as long as she can remember.

Between a cat and mouse chase between Syn - Ivan and the Taites and the illusion of a loving pair that Syn and Ivan have decided to put on for their enemies, the pages of this book are filled with scorching love scenes that will leave you breathless. Can’t wait for the next instalment of this thrilling series!

Brute Force book number 2 brings Ivan and Crimsyn's tale of love and suspense. Definitely a page turner for a good story line.

Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
