Sabina is from a long line of gypsy women with the "sight". Her grandmother passed on to her a very important story about her ancestors and men that can take the form of a dragon. She now lives with just her brother who is a very special man.
Dragon king Roman is determined to make sure that this his fellow Dragon king "V" will find the sword that was stolen from him many, many years ago. Without it he can literally lose his mind. Unfortunately there are magic forces working against them.
This is part of a series that is better read in order because of the complicated back story, but you could read it on it's own.
Our characters all have strong personalities that you will immediately fall in love with. The most unlikely one plays a very important role. There is a lot of magical danger from unknown sources and some great excitement.
I loved it.

Donna Grant keeps coming up with awesome characters. She weaves them in and out of each of her books in a way that you want to go back and reread the previous book or two so that you can truly appreciate the current book.
You get captured in the story and you see it on folding in your mind. Each character is a friend that you go back to visit time and time again.
She does this while weaving a story that spans many books.
She makes the readers want to figure out the twists and turns in the journey that her characters are taking.
You finally figure out that burning question, only to have the answer you are sure of smashed into a million pieces. Then in the next book you see that you may have acted too fast and what you thought may well be the answer.
Like a great movie there are characters that toy just Hate. You want them gone but you know one they are gone the story will end. So you want them to stay around for another book.

Dragonfire 9Dark Kings, #14) by Donna Grant is a completely soul-searing adventure as the Dragon Kings search for the sword that will help them prevail. The overall story continues to fall into place piece by piece with each consecutive book. I love all the intricacies this author writes. The story is engaging and as always, well written. I would have liked to see more romance (spark) between the two main characters, but it seems to fall in line with their personalities. Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for providing a copy to review. If you enjoy any of the Dark Kings book, add this to the list!

It would be difficult to follow Ulrik’s story in Torched after the series had buildup the Dragon “showdown” that his story would bring. However, Donna Grant did her best with Dragon Kings book 14, Dragonfire. I must admit that the problems that the Kings are still having is anticlimactic after Ulrik is now back in the fold so to speak. If perhaps this had been Rhi’s story, I would have loved it more. I am so ready for her story to find a conclusion, with the entire past becoming known.

Atlas, this romance is of Roman and Sabina. It does have a Dracula legend in it that fits the release date. It also has some interesting characters in it besides Roman and Sabina too. As with all the Dragon King stories the main couple’s story is complete. Still there are many unanswered questions concerning big themes, such as the Fae Queen’s true agenda and Rhi. With that in mind, I would not recommend starting the series here, but to read the books in order.

Gypsies, Dragon Kings, New and old villains and the legend of Dracula...

This is the fourteenth book in the Dark Kings series.

Before the dragon kings took to their sleep inside the mountains on Dreagan, V, Dragon King of the Coppers had his enchanted sword stolen and it is time it was found, this sword has relevance to all of the dragon kings. V has no memory of the time his weapon was stolen and it will be learned that magic is to blame. But whose magic is strong enough to alter the memories of a dragon king and also hide them from Kellan, the keeper of their history?

One dragon king can hear the calling of metals from deep within the earth as beautiful melodic music and it is this ability that makes Roman, Dragon King of the Pale Blues, the perfect person to assist V in his search. Their journey begins in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, V’s former home before the war with the humans and will lead to Iceland, Roman’s former home where long-buried memories will assail him. A plan, an elaborate trap, that was set in motion ages past is about to unfold with possible dire consequences. This enemy that the dragon kings face has an inordinate amount of patience.

As a descendant of the Romani gypsies, Sabina Gabor, has the gift of Sight that she’s not used in a long time. She’s in possession of a memorized story passed down from her similarly gifted grandmother and it pertains to the dragon kings. She alone cares for her half-brother, Camlo, who is special, a man with a child’s mind and an unnatural way with animals. Brother and sister are keeping secrets from each other and those secrets will be shared with the arrival of two strangers that followed a heralding storm.

The romance in this story is between Sabina and Roman, it is a slow burn that is a bit overpowered by the constant danger of transpiring events; their attraction was definitely magnetic. Sabina is a spunky heroine who knows her limitations but faces them when she knows she has to. Roman is protective of not just Sabina but her brother and V, his personality truly embodies the fire and ice of his homeland.

V has spent most of his time sleeping for each time he’s woken and failed to find his sword bad things seem to happen to mankind, that’s another reason why this time he doesn’t go it alone. We are given insight into his personality. V, who is also known as Vlad, is the where the legend of Dracula is said to have begun for when he hides his dragon form a swarm of bats is seen, V did not find the vampire aspect of this amusing but this reader did.

As always in this series the characters were fascinating, Ulrik, Eilish, and Rhi were also involved in Iceland. The deviousness of Usaeil and Balladyn never cease, but their time is coming. There was an intricate suspenseful plot with perplexing mysteries, engaging dialogue, multiple points of view including those of villains unseen before now, and for the many answers that were given more questions arose. This series and the one that connects (Reapers) continue to thoroughly entertain this reader.

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

An excellent and entertaining read that doesn't require reader's to be familiar with any of the previous novels in this series! I was not at all familiar with the series, but love dragon shifter novels so gave this one a try. The premise and characters were interesting and well-written and the couple was fun to follow along. It leaves you wanting to go find the previous novels and hoping that some of the dragons we met will have future stories.

I have only read one other of the books in this series and I love it! Every story opens up new questions but gives you another piece to the puzzle.
Roman and Sabina have an undeniable connection from the time they meet. Even thru all of the challenges they face in trying to get V’s sword back, they struggle to keep it together.
I can’t wait to read more from the other Dragon Kings!! 5 stars!

Dragons have always fascinated me, whether it's the fact that could have existed at one time or just the thought that they might actually still exist. That being said when I read the synopsis for Dragonfire I knew I had to read it and I'm so glad I did. From the very beginning, I was hooked.

Sabina is a young woman who's mother took her away from her Gypsy family at a young age and she was raised without their influence though she never forgot her history. She has kept her heritage quiet so as to keep her younger brother and herself safe from those that are biased against them. She leads a simple life supporting her brother and herself designing jewelry. All that changes when she meets Roman, one of the few remaining Dragon Kings.

Roman is bent on helping his dragon brother V find his sword. Every dragon king's sword is like an extension of them and to not have their sword is painful. Their search for V's sword takes them to where Sabina lives and it's soon discovered that she has some connection to V. She and her brother join the dragon kings in their search.

What follows is a mystery that keeps you intrigued. I have not read any other books in the Dark Kings series, but I had not problem keeping up with the characters. If you like paranormal reads that have dragons, shifters, fae, good vs. evil, not to mention love, then you'll love Dragonfire.

Dragonfire by Donna Grant is book 14 in the Dark Kings series. This is the story of Sabina and Roman.
This can be a standalone book but does have the undertones of a larger story through the series.
Roman is working to locate the sword that has eluded them so far when he meets Sabina and her brother Camlo who may have the needed information to find the sword.
Sabina knows of the old tail of Dragons and swords from her family/grandmother and has lived with the information for a while. Sabina and her brother both have special skills that have helped them so far in life. When working to assist Roman feelings between the two start to form leading them to possible find something more together.
This has been a long series but each book brings another great story to add to the series.

Donna Grant continues to be a solid go-to author for me! Each book in the Dark Kings series has been entertaining and makes me eager for the next book. And my eagerness increases with each new book, as I'm desperate to read more of the other characters. This book delivered the next entry in a complicated story, in a way that helps new and returning readers understand the series history easily. Very well done, considering it gets more complex with each new book.

A legend among her people is more embedded in Sabina Gabor's future than she could have ever imagined. Separated from her Romani family as a young girl, Sabina was raised by her mother alongside her stepfather and brother in Romania. Now the sole caretaker of her sweet, childlike brother, Sabina lives in relative seclusion. Until, that is, the arrival of two strange men upend her world. Roman is accompanying his fellow Dragon King, V, in the search for his stolen sword. When they come across Sabina and her brother, they realize that they may be the key to finding the sword. If only Roman can convince Sabina to help them.

Sabina was a really interesting character, giving insight into the Romani culture and providing a strong female lead for an equally strong make lead. She was super independent and protective of her brother, which made me like her immediately. I also loved her compassion from an early age regarding the dragons, and it shine brightly as an adult. Roman was a very strong character as well, with a calming personality and gentle ways, which really helped when first meeting Sabina. He never took away her independence, which I loved, and he encouraged her to face her fears. It was a great relationship to experience throughout the book.

I eagerly await the next book in the series! It's sure to be just as exciting and enlightening as this one.

DRAGONFIRE is another impressive Dark King story by Donna Grant. Though this has a bit less romance than her other novels in this series, Sabina and Roman do fall for each other. Intermixed in the story are V's quest for his past and his sword.

Do you love dragons, intrigue, danger, magic, and twists and turns that have their own twists and turns? Then get your hands on DRAGONFIRE by Donna Grant.

Can you feel it? The end is near. I’m not ready and yet I am excited for it. The more I read these books the more I want Con to have a HEA. I want the name of Rhi’s King. I know there can’t be light without dark so I’m not sure how I want things to end, but it will.

In this installment, Roman sets out with V to find his sword. They stumble upon a Romani brother and sister who help them on their quest. But little do they know that the stories they grew up on would mean more than just mere retellings from generation to generation.

Magic was everywhere in this book. It seems that when the Dragon Kings think they finally get a step ahead something causes them to stumble backwards. Evil never dies. Now they must find the cause.

Again, I live for Rhi’s chapters. After being tossed out by Usaeil, she must decide her next step. Who will she stand with? Will she embrace the dark that is pulling at her or will she stand strong in the light and accept the help that’s being offered her? Ahh!! Make the right decision!!

I was lucky enough to be granted an ARC by the Publisher. Thank you.

I enjoyed Dragonfire. Buttttt it felt flat compared to the previous books.
I felt it was to long and nothing really got going till around the 70% mark for me. Felt like something was missing. This could be that a lot of things are changing and this is a crossover into that. as Urik is no longer an enemy. We're seeing more of the Reapers (Great series too!) The ole light Queen is upsetting the boat. (But i think she has been for a while.) Now we have The Others.
Also when starting this i honestly thought this was going to be Vlad's book. I was like YAYYYY. But alas it's not.
It was nice that this book kept to the main characters and didn't jump around to much onto Rhi. Although she is totally kick ass and i can't wait till her book is out. Shes gonna kick some ass. (Hopefully)

All in all this was an ok read.

I don’t really know how to review this one. I rated it four stars because if you’ve read the other books in the series, you’ll want to read this one as it’s a continuation. If you haven’t read any of the other books, stop and start at the beginning. You’ll be lost and very unhappy if you try to start from here. Also, you must read this series with undivided attention, or regardless of which book you read first, it’ll be fit confusionville pretty quickly.

This is a lot like the Twilight series, if you read those or saw the movies, in that there are different species with good and bad versions of a few types. There are wars being raged about territories (realms) and fears about humans finding out about them (dragons, in particular). Unlike Twilight, the romance is a very secondary plot to the species battles and discoveries. Since I’m a romance lover above all things, this isn’t my favorite type of story. That being said, there is just enough romance that I’m willing to wade through the confusion that so many characters (some with hidden agendas and unclear alliances) create to get to the good parts.

It’s not a quick or easy read, but if it’s a genre you like, it’s worth it.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

These last couple books have been great and the story has taken a direction that I didn't see coming. I just loved the characters in this one and everything happening just drew me right in. Plus I was super excited to get more of V. And to learn his real name and what came of what happens when he cloaks himself was such a fun tidbit. While this was Roman's book, I think we learn just as much about V as we did about him.

Roman was another amazing Dragon King. He's determined to help V find his sword because he knows where V was the last time he had it. So off to Romania they go. Being limited in their search makes things hard for them, but V is not the only one desperate for him to get his sword back. His sword is even more special than all the others as it can be used to find and call to the dragons that they had sent away all that time ago. So yeah, super important to find this.

I loved the fact that Sabina was a normal girl doing her best to take care of her brother, Camlo. Yes, she is descended from important people and yes, she has the gift of 'sight'. But she was truly nothing special and that's what made her special to me. Her brother is basically a fully grown man, but stuck with a child's mind. Despite this, I also thought he was a great character. He was integral to the story and what needed to happen as they went on. The two of them live practically in the middle of nowhere and that's how Sabina likes it. It's a simple and uneventful life, but that changes in an instant when Roman and V show up.

It's clear these two siblings are important and it's not long until the four of them are off to finally retrieve V's sword. Not an easy task to be sure, as they are faced with many challenges and cheat death more than once thanks to this new enemy the Kings face. As the reader, it was pretty awesome all they see and have to go thru before they even find the sword. Sabina's connection to the past and the sword was neat as well. That, and just how much her brother knew all along but did not share with anyone. I was really quite happy with how it all went down at the end and can't wait for V's book.

Compared to the other books, we actually got very little of the other going ons in this world. A fascinating book has been brought to Usaeil's attention that I have a very bad feeling about. Rhi is still struggling with herself, but she always shows up when the Kings need her help. Then there is Con. Oh my gawd, I have never felt so bad for him before. The weight of everything happening to the Kings as well as every decision he has ever made is becoming such a terrible burden that he is starting to regret so many things. I don't think I've ever been so grateful that Ulrik was back at Dreagan before as Con desperately needs him by his side.

My one complaint about this book would be the random, frivolous use of magic by Roman. I can't recall a single time they used their magic in a such a way, so it seemed to be used just because the situation called for it. We are told that the Kings don't use their magic for such things because they do not want to become dependent on it or whatever, which I buy. But it just seemed so out of place and out of character for a Dragon King that it kept bugging me.

I normally do not read paranormal romance novels and I am not sure what pulled me to Donna Grant's books but I have been reading since the first Dark Sword novel in 2009. Donna's writing style has matured throughout the series and each book leaves the reader wanting more. The Dark World that she has created draws the reader in and wraps them in the magic.

The saga of the Dragon Kings continues in the latest edition to the series. While searching for a long lost item, the kings find information on their latest foes. There is so much in this book including a significant hint regarding Rhi and her DK lover for those familiar with the series. This is the 14th full novel in the DK series so I advise you start with earlier books to learn about the Dark World as they build on each other.

This was actually one of my favorite books in the series and I believe it was because of the setting being so remote. The journey the lovers take in this book, both physically and mentally was wonderful and I felt like I was there experiencing it with them. I gave 5 stars but would give more if possible!!

I love this series. Grant has created a fascinating and unique world and given us characters that just leap off the pages. As a series its entertaining, unpredictable and suspenseful. Its crazy good and this last book topped all the others.

Here we are at Book 14 and I am still loving it; spin-offs and all! I cannot get enough of Ms. Grant’s amazing writing; she does a such a phenomenal job of incorporating her characters and storyline into her defined and solid world. I totally enjoyed the fact that while this was a sizzling read, the action and adventure of the dragons mission was first and foremost for this story. Nicely done!

Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
