I found the heroine and her brother extremely fascinating in Dragonfire. So much so that when the author would change POV's with other Dragon Kings or Rhi, I was impatient to get back to them. Since I enjoy getting everyone's POV, that just speaks to how much I liked these two.

My fascination stems from not only the gypsy background, but I also found both siblings abilities to be pretty cool, especially Camlo's. He uncovered a lot in this book that we didn't know yet. While we got a lot of answers, we also got more questions. However, I still feel like we are a step closer than we were.

Rhi is concerning me and I want her to find happiness. It seems like she just keeps getting kicked down. I love her character and I really want to see her happy in the end. I'm nervous for her.

I love that the Reapers are intermixing with this series and their own. You almost need to read both series as they all publish to stay up to date on everything that is going on. This isn't a hardship since I'm loving both series. ARC provided by NetGalley.

I absolutely adored this book ! Donna Grant has created a truly amazing story for Roman and Sabina. I enjoyed every minute of their thrilling journey.

This story was loaded with romance, thrills, action, secrets, and definitely some series changing surprises. The story begins with Roman and Vlad (V as readers have come to know him) taking up the search for V's stolen sword. Their search leads them to Romania where they connect with Sabina and her brother, who have a mysterious connection to the missing sword themselves. Together they begin an incredible adventure as they work together to find the sword and unravel a mystery surrounding whoever is out to take down the Dragon Kings.

I loved the characters in this book, and also the detailed plot that made this grand adventure seem so realistic. Roman recognized Sabina as his mate right away. He also realized that she had the strength and resilience to help them in their quest. I also enjoyed all of the discoveries they made along the way, and catching up with other favorite characters, as the plot took many unexpected turns.

This suspenseful book was full of surprises and thrills for everyone. I loved it and would recommend the series to all paranormal romance readers.

"Dragonfire" is a fast-paced adventure as Dragon King Roman works with human Sabina to track down a Dragon King's stolen sword. The search takes them from Scotland to Romania and into the volcanoes of Iceland as they battle powerful magic trying to hide the sword. Roman and Sabina's chemistry was instant and powerful, and I enjoyed watching them come together, fighting enemies to be together, and trusting each other to get through the challenges they faced. Every scene with them was enchanting, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I have to admit that scenes focusing on some of the other Dragon Kings and the problems they were having didn't interest me as much- but I think that was because this was the first book I've read in the series, so I don't yet have any emotional attachment to the rest of the series' cast of characters. Some of the attempts to plot out what the Dragon Kings' hidden enemies were trying to do got me pretty tangled up (which inevitably happens to me once you throw some quick time travel and future-seeing into the mix) but I expect anyone who has read the series from the beginning will be all over those scenes.

Overall this probably wasn't the right book to start with- I expect reading the series in order helps, I definitely enjoyed "Dragonfire" couple Roman and Sabina and Donna Grant's wonderful writing enough that I would start the series from the beginning to get ready for the next book to come out!

The next book gives us more and more about the new threat that is worse than the Fae, Mikkle, or Ulrik. They know that both Light and Dark Fae teamed up with both Mie and Drough Druids to take them down, but what they don’t know is why or how far they will go. In this one, we start to see the great lengths and for how long this new threat has gone to to bring the Dragon King’s down. Along the way, Donna Grant, I swear, is dropping more and more hints about who might be Rhi’s Dragon King, but I don’t know if I can believe what I think or is she is just trying to throw the reader off. Time will tell! Roman and Sabina’s story was just as entertaining and exciting as all the other DK books. I liked watching the interactions between Con and Ulrik, and Ulrik and Eilish both play roles in Roman and Sabina’s adventure. It was fun, passionate, intriguing, and the plot just keeps getting more complex and more dynamic. The scope that the Dark Universe has taken is just amazing to think that it all came from one woman’s imagination. So cool. And so good.

Dragonfire is already the 14th part of the Dark King series. And although I kind of fell smack in the middle of the series, it really kind of grows on you. In this part we follow Ronan and Vlad (or V. for friends) who are trying to find V's sword. Vlad's memory has been tampered with (just as Esther's in Heat) and he can't remember who took the sword.
By chance however, they meet Sabina and her brother Camlo. They are Romani, who stopped travelling, because their grandmother had a vision. Sabina was told the story when she was very young. And it was one of dragon kings and fairies. Never had Sabina suspected that this story was based on actual event. So maybe, the story about the taken sword wasn't also not fictional....
Together with Ronan and V., Sabina and her brother travel to Iceland to unravel the secrets. But someone doesn't want them to find the truth. Many attempts are made to prevent them from succeeding. And when Sabina's life is threatened once again, Ronan must ask himself whether his attraction to Sabina is helping here or whether he should let her go.
Tension, love, drama and an unravelling story: Donna Grant has done it again. Thank you Netgalley for providing the arc. Four out of five stars from me.

4.5 Stars The fourteenth book in the Dragon Kings series, Dragonfire brings us Roman and Sabina. I enjoyed this story and like getting more of an insight into V. These characters are well developed and the interaction between all of them is engaging and the well written story make it a wonderful read.

Roman is the Dragon King of the Light Blues. He offers to help V, a fellow Dragon King, hunt for his missing sword. Roman and V begin their search in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains. While there, the duo encounters a Romani brother and sister, who prove instrumental in regaining V’s sword. Clues direct the group to Iceland, Roman’s homeland and domain. Danger awaits the four. Can Roman overcome the Others’ malicious machinations? Will he be able to protect Sabina against their magic?
Sabina is descended from a long line of powerful Romani women gifted with the Sight. She supports herself and her younger brother by making and selling customized jewelry. Sabina remembers the story her grandmother told her about the Dragon Kings. When she and her brother run into two, Sabina agrees to help them search for V’s sword. She finds a kindred spirit in Roman, and their attraction ignites. Will Sabina’s Sight be instrumental in finding V’s sword? Or will she too fall victim to the Others’ traps?
I like that Roman insists on helping V find his sword, so he is no longer driven insane by its absence. He cares enough about his friend to keep V from doing something he may later regret while in madness’s grip. I adore how conscious Roman is of Sabina’s fears. He is always mindful of her limitations, so Roman continuously gives Sabina the option to back out anytime she wants. But, what I like most about Roman is how Sabina’s presence helps him finally confront his past. She gives him the resolve to finally lay it to rest for good.
I adore the fact that Sabina is Romani. There are not too many gypsy characters outside of Historical Romance. I admire Sabina’s determination to fix the wrongs her ancestors wrought. She may not understand their reasons, yet Sabina trusts her instincts and intuition to correct their wrong. I like how Sabina faces her fears throughout the journey. She refuses to let fear keep her from doing what needs done, regardless of the obstacles and dangers in her path. What I love most about Sabina is her fierce protectiveness toward her younger brother. She knows other people are not as accepting to her brother’s handicaps, so she refuses to let people take advantage of him.
DRAGONFIRE is book fourteen in Donna Grant’s paranormal series, DRAGON KINGS. It is necessary to read the previous books in the series, especially HEAT, book twelve, to better understand the ongoing plot. I like how the Dragon Kings are learning about their newest foe. I suspect the author plans to divulge little tidbits about the Others in future books, so not to bombard readers with information, which I appreciate. I enjoy learning new info about the enemies alongside the characters in the story.
DRAGONFIRE is a spellbinding tale of two souls’ redemption from their past. I love how the author wove new information about the Druids in this book. I also cannot wait to learn more about the mysterious Others, especially their hatred towards Constantine. I hope V’s book is next.

The coming war has just taken a different turn. V is needs to find his sword as the madness is about to consume him for good. Roman will do anything to help V even if it means keeping the other dragon kings in the dark as he knows that Con is busy trying to keep them all safe. What seems like a simple trip takes a dangerous turn that will test Roman's abilities and hopefully find V's sword. But there is a complication as they have met two very special people that can help them on their journey but it is complicated. Sabina knows that there is something different about these two men and she knows that they are going to change her life forever. But she has to protect her brother Camlo as he is different and she doesn't want them to take advantage of his ability. Camlo knew that they were coming, the animals told him so and he knows where they can find the sword but he knows that it is a really bad place. Can Sabina accept that her grandmother's story is true and that she holds the key? V just wants his sword back and he will do whatever it takes but he realises that this is going to be really hard on Roman as they are travelling to his homeland. Roman never thought that he would ever have to come back to Iceland as this was his home for so long and it holds many painful memories. He knows that this is the last chance to find V's sword and if that means that he needs to give up his life so be it. They realise that there is fae & druid magic here and it has brought them here for a reason and that it might not end well for them all. Can Roman push through and save Sabina before it is too late? He has found his mate and there is nothing that he won't to save her even if that means giving up his own life. Rhi is trying to cope with everything that is happening around her and she is afraid that the darkness will consume her eventually as everything around seems to be falling apart. Can she find the peace that she needs and why she be able to find that one that will make her happy forever? Con knows that he needs to tell the other dragon kings about the missing weapon but it isn't that easy as he feels like that he has failed them all. Can they put Usaeil down for good before she causes even more problems and what are they going to do with Balladyn? Good to see Ulrik back where he belongs and I do hope that they can bring their dragons back and that their journeys will all be worth it in the end. Can't wait for the next book in the series as they just seem to be getting better. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

Intriguing!

I really enjoyed this story. Rowan and Sabina are interesting characters, have great back stories and survive an amazing journey. I didn’t realize this was 12th in a series and was lost during some of the back story but am curious so will go back to catch up.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

So, what did I like about it?
I’ve only read one other book in Donna Grant’s Dark Kings series (Heat - Dark Kings #12) but I enjoy the way that she tells her stories, the pace her plots develop and the fantasy world that she has created. I like that she gives us a prologue to set up what happened in the past as well as an epilogue to whet our appetites for future books.

I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this story and the way our lead couple were trying to solve it. I appreciated the various twists and turns that Ms Grant weaved into this paranormal romance story, not only with Roman and Sabina's quest but within the other plot lines too.

I did enjoy that there are a few plots running alongside the romance aspect in this book; Roman and Sabina’s quest to find the Vlad’s sword, Vlad’s missing memories, the threat and power struggles within the Dark and Light Fae plus the continuing mystery/threat of the Druid and Fae partnership.

Having not read most of the previous books I may be able to view this story’s characters differently than existing fans; what I'm enjoying is that we have different sorts of bad guys here; downright evil sods, misunderstood rogues, friends turned into enemies and bad-turned-good heroes. I love that, it keeps us readers on our toes. ;-) I appreciate an author who writes multidimensional characters that aren't good or bad but a multitude of grey. I really liked our heroine, Sabine; she's intelligent, resourceful and her brother Camlo is a beautiful soul who I fell in love with too.

So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
As you can tell by my rating, I did like this book but there were a few things that took the shine off for me.

For example, I found the phonetic Scottish dialogue used throughout this book annoying and although it wasn’t a deal breaker it certainly didn’t help.

Jumping into a well established series, I was prepared to encounter background story arcs that continue from previous books and even go on to subsequent books. But although Ms Grant does a good job of giving the relevant information within these pages I should warn other newbies that a lot has happened in this series – a heck of a lot! I am sure that Dragonfire Dark Kings 14 is the sort of book that existing fans will absolutely love but as a new reader I felt as though there were too many cliffhangers by the final page – there were too many unresolved issues and I was left with more questions than I could shake a stick at.

So, basically what I’m saying is...
I really enjoyed this book; I couldn't stop reading until I found out how it ended. I love it when a story keeps me guessing, makes me chuckle, puts a lump in my throat, warms my old romantic heart and sends tingles of titillation to my nether regions.

3.5 Stars
The Dragon Kings such as Roman had long ago sworn to protect mortals whether they believe in his existence or not. While on a quest with another Dragon King to retrieve that king’s stolen sword, Roman meets Sabina. She is a woman with powers of her own possessing mystical talents including the Sight of her gypsy people. She has lived hidden away in the Carpathian Mountains long knowing stories of dragons told by her people who had an important role to play in the missing sword.

Much of this book revolves around the quest to find the lost sword in Roman’s homeland of Iceland. There is much peril and difficult tasks to overcome in order to locate the missing sword that has major important magical abilities for the dragon community. If reunited with its rightful owner, Vlad, he may be able to restore much of what has been lost to dragons and their kin. Dark forces have been set in place to prevent the success of this quest. Roman and Sabina go on an emotional journey as well as a physical one becoming entranced with one another along the way.

Read as a standalone, much of the backstory and other characters including Constantine, the leader Dragon King, and Rhi, the Fae woman whose heart was broken by a dragon, will make less sense. This is book #14 in the Dark Kings series. The pace seemed to drag at times. The writing is fine, but the story lacked some of the passion one expects for the romance. Fans of the series will get a few more pieces to the puzzle of who the enemies are then and now plus perhaps, foreshadows of things to come.

We return the Dragon King series for Roman's story and getting a deeper view of V. This story we are searching for Vs sword and Toman thinks he knows where it could be. When searching Vs home they come into contact with Sabina and her brother who are going to be unexpected allies in their search.

What should be easy never is. The others are making a stronger appearance and another bad guy is brought in. Like most of the kings books we have the Light and Dark Fae where both their rulers are off the deep end. The Warriors and Reapers who are having their own issues, and of course Rhi who is still working through her stuff. Now we see Con struggling and well there is always gonna be more. Cant wait.

Grant is so rare in the romance genre, I feel, and it makes her books gems because of it. There's an overaching plot that ties each book together, and the relationships are secondary. Doesn't mean they aren't hot and smoldering and sexy and fun as hell to read, but plot isn't sacrificed for silly, out of character decisions

Dragonfire (Dark Kings, #14)
by Donna Grant
Superb
It is definitely a buy buy buy buy buy book. I know that some will say end the series already and answer the questions...but for me, each time I have been given an arc in this series, I have absolutely adored it. It is not my normal genre, but it keeps me looking for more and more of this authors writing for it has been captivating for me. I totally enjoy each line of her writing. I love the characters, the plots the many different levels, the romance, the passion. The suspense and just everything about them! I will say this is a series that is definitely a keeper and one to enjoy over and over again. I was given this arc via NetGalley. ALL OPINIONS expressed here are my own. Regards, Anna

Dragonfire is Roman's story in the continuing saga of the Dragon Kings coming in at a solid 4.5 stars (rounded up). Roman is determined to help V reclaim his Dragon King sword after watching the suffering and pain V has endured for centuries. Sabina 's mother took her from the Gypsy family when she was a young child but she has always carried the oral history of her people and the dragon Vlad. Spending her days caring for her childlike brother, Bina never expected to stumble upon not one but two dragons in her valley. Attraction draws Roman and Bina together and promises to become something more as Bina and her brother help the dragon's find the sword. Danger and mystery abound as Bina's powers reveal an unexpected link in their past. The Others' magic keeps upping the game and threatening the quest and their lives. This story is a page in a long running series and would be best read if the reader has read at least part of the series. The heat level is not too hot with just the right amount of spice to keep the pages turning. Bina and Roman get a semi-HEA that is sweet but left with the cliffhanger of the Others'endgame still unresolved. Dragonfire is an action packed and magical story full of sexy dragons in a series that will always keep you coming back for more. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

Loved Roman and Sabina!! But then I've loved all of the Dragon Kings and their loves. Grant pulled off another engaging installment that had me up way past my bedtime because I couldn't put it down.

Roman and Sabina are wonderful together. Donna spins a wonderful tale of the search for V's sword. Roman and V return to Romania for the search. They discover Sabina and Camlo during their search. Sabrina is a gypsy that knows of the Dragon Kings and has looked for them her whole life. She works on her family's farm with her special needs brother, Camlo. Camlo loves his animals and has more gypsy traits then Sabina (Bina) realized, as she has taken care of him after their family died. I love how Camlo is a large part of the story in returning V's sword. The Dragon Kings acceptance of Camlo made me happy. More hints are dropped regarding Rhi's King - the list is getting shorter! The adventure that V, Roman, Sabina and Camlo complete to find V's sword is filled with danger. Of course there is always dark magic involved and the group work to discover who is behind V's memory loss and the challenges they find in their search for the sword. Sabina and Camlo end up at Dreagan and it is wonderful to see the other cast of characters. Donna always gives our Dragons their HEA and Roman is no different - although the journey to happily ever after is very rocky.

Dragonfire is the fourteenth book in the Dark Kings series by Donna Grant. This series is part of the Dark World Universe. It brings to light new faces along with a deeper insight into the Dragon Kings and their origins. While some of the favorite characters from the Dark World series do make cameos in this book, the focus is on illuminating a new mythos and relationships. We were introduced to this world with the Dark sword series which continued with the Dark Warriors series and gave way to the Dark Kings series.

This book introduces Sabina, a gypsy which descended from the founders of the Romani culture. She's very intelligent and waits for a world she is destined to play an important role in while fulfilling her ancestors prophesy.

Roman, is a Dragon King, who holds sway over the metals in the earth and can identify them by their distinctive signature. He is the smith of the dragon kings and like the others is sworn to protect all mortals--even though they no longer believe in dragons.

Together, Roman and Sabina work together to save themselves from an ancient unholy alliance and find Vlad's long lost sword that has a special significance for the Dragon Kings. This book does justice to its name and is truly spellbinding. Donna Grant creates characters with such depth that you just can't help rooting for them.

This books has so many twists and turns some answers and more questions.... Druids, Fae, Gypsy's and Dragon Kings (oh my)... danger, mystery, laughter, tears and steamy sex all getting us to a HEA and anxiously waiting for the next book.
