This is a retelling of The Shop Around the Corner, which was also based on a play from 1937. Only the setting here is South Carolina and the store theme is Christmas shops.

Angela owns a very quaint boutique that sells high end Christmas items and Geoff owns a chain of stores called Christmas Galore (seems kind of like the Christmas Tree Shoppe that exists in real life) which sell a little bit of everything. When Christmas Galore opens in Pleasant Sands, SC where Angela's store is located, her business dwindles.

Thankfully Angela and Geoff have a random run in, then begin communicating via a Dear Santa app which allows folks to write letters to Santa.

I felt the story was sweet, wholesome, and entertaining. My only wish was that the author followed up with more information about some of the sideline plots like what happened to Geoff's dad, what happened to Angela's dad, and a few other items.

Overall a great cozy snowmance read.

Perfect romance book to read to get you in the holiday spirit! Story flows well, characters are likeable, story line is loosely reminiscent of You’ve Got Mail.

Angela inherits an old lighthouse Christmas shop from her Momma Grace (a little too much references to her IMHO). Geoff is the owner of a competing store. Love at first site, dislike at second. Angela writes a Dear Santa letter, Geoff answers it. A little far fetched, but it’s a Christmas story, so it’s expected and allowed!

Pick this book up around Thanksgiving and get in the Spirit of the season. Quick and Easy diversion during the hectic holiday season.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone!

What a lovely, cosy read this is! As a self confessed Christmas freak running a festive gift shop is my idea of heaven but unfortunately Angela is finding it hard , witha rival shop opening up in her small town. Perfect story to read curled up under a warm throw witha mug of hot chocolate - with marshmallows of course!

Cute story about running a year-round family Christmas store. Angela Carson has been running the family store for a long time, but business has been steadily declining. When a big chain store, Christmas Galore, moves to town it may put her out of business. Her niece encourages her to send a letter to Santa asking for his help. Little does she know that the owner of the big new store, Geoff, is answering the Santa letters due to his mother’s illness. She assumes the response was auto-generated from a computer. When she gets another reply, she realizes that Santa really is communicating with her.

Will Angela be able to let go of her anger about the possibility of closing her store? Will she find out that Geoff is her Santa?

Enjoyed this sweet romance provided to me by NetGalley and St. Martin’s in return for an honest review.

This was my first book by Nancy Naigle. It was definitely a fun read. Sort of like a Hallmark movie and the movie You’ve Got Mail combined.

Angela Carson is managing a Christmas store called Heart of Christmas. It is a lighthouse that has been her family for 3 generations. Unfortunately, a national chain store called Christmas Galore just opened their latest store in their small town. It is a huge chain store and offers discounted items that Angela cannot compete with.
Geoff Paisley goes with his mother from town to town opening and managing each new Christmas Galore store. One of his mother’s ideas is a Dear Santa website that answers letters to Santa from children. When she falls ill, she wants Geoff to answer the letters. One of the letters is from Angela, asking Santa for help. He answers her letter, and Angela writes back thinking this must be a computer-generated reply.

Angela and Geoff don’t start out with good impressions of each other. They have a very public disagreement. Angela dislikes him for opening that store that is taking away her business. Geoff originally thinks both stores could survive and doesn’t understand Angela’s dislike of him. Once Geoff realizes Angela is writing the letters, he tries to encourage her to see a bigger picture.

This was a very pleasant romance story. I loved the characters. I will definitely read more books by Ms. Naigle and I do recommend this book to anyone looking for a small town romance. I requested a net galley copy of this book by the publisher in return for an honest review

After reading the blurb and realizing this is a holiday retelling of You Got Mail (one of my favorite movies) I knew I had to read this one. Nancy Naigle not only delivers, but she spreads the best of joys to her readers with this sweet tale! I adored this book to pieces and I know it's going to be on many people "must have Holiday reads" this year!

I'm having a hard time trying to rate the star level of this book. While it's a well written story, I felt that this entire story could have been shortened by a lot.. There was a lot of filler in the story where many things were repetitive and redundant. The author did a good job with the descriptions of the town and the landscape but in almost every chapter these descriptions were repeated - as if the author thinks we forgot what she wrote or she needed to fill up the pages in the book. I tend to stop reading or skip pages when authors do this.

The story really dragged on in the sense of romance. I know it's labeled as a "romance" story but I didn't read any romance between the two main characters nor did I feel it. Sure they were attracted to each other and each thought the other were "hot" and "handsome" but the supposed tension that were between Angela and Geoff just weren't there - it didn't feel realistic or climatic. The author basically filled the pages of the story with lots of scenic descriptions and then oh, suddenly let's have these two "love interests" accidentally or purposely meet each other every few chapters. It just lacked in the romance department if this book is supposed to be a contemporary romance book. It's definitely a clean romance if there's any at all.

Angela, the heroine is rather tense and judgmental while the hero, Geoff is really standoffish and snobby. I couldn't see any similarities between these two characters enough for them to be a likely couple. The build up of their attraction and their eventual liking of each other was just slow and dull.

The Dear Santa part of this story is based on a series of letters or correspondence between Angela and "Santa". And this doesn't really show up until the middle part of the book. Once again, too many fillers in the story to really get to the heart or the true plot of the story.

I'd give this story a strong 3.5. Not quite a 3 stars and not a 4 star. The writer does have writing skills but perhaps she shouldn't have written so many inconsequential information that were repeated over and over again.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

Dear Santa is a fabulous holiday read by Nancy Naigle. Ms. Naigle has delivered a well-written book that readers would love Santa to drop in their stockings. Hats off to Ms. Naigle for her phenomenal cast of characters, I love their interactions. Angela loves her Heart of Christmas store that she inherited from her grandmother. Geoff and his mother own a chain of large Christmas stores and open one in Angela's small town. Geoff and Angela's story is a heartwarming tale that will put a smile on the reader's face. I loved reading Dear Santa and look forward to my next book by Nancy Naigle. Dear Santa is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This the first book I have read by Nancy Naigle. I am so happy to find a new author! I read the summary of the story and after reading that it was similar to the movie “You’ve Got Mail”’ I thought I would really enjoy this book. My feelings were so true. The basic storyline is very similar, in that the couple meeting in person do not get along, but as hidden identities in emails, they connect well.

Angela owns and operates Heart of Christmas, an upscale Christmas store that has been in her family for generations. The store has been struggling to stay afloat. She is trying to come to terms with closing the store, which she has worked in since a young child and finding a new direction for the rest of her life.

Christmas Galore is a new superstore that opened in town and it sells all things cheaply made – especially made in China; beach towels to artificial Christmas trees. Geoff and his mom own this superstore and several others.

Angela and Geoff first eye each other and are attracted. Then comes the conflict of their businesses, that mean so much to them. The story unfolds and is fun to experience.

The book is very easy to read and it flows in a good pace. The characters are very well developed and I feel like I know and care about them. The location is described in such detail that I wish I could visit Pleasant Sands, North Carolina.

Each section begins with a letter to Santa, which I thought was a heart-melting touch. Some were funny and some a bit sad. Even though I read this book in August, it makes me feel like Christmas is around the corner.

Many types of relationships were explored in the book: sisters, husband/wife, long-time friends, mother/son, mother/daughter. All of the relationships were realistic and written exceptionally well. The core story was a romance but there were many plots revolving throughout, which made the book a page-turner.

This book would make a fantastic Hallmark Holiday movie!

I want to thank St Martin’s Press for giving me the ARC of this book and introducing me to this author, Nancy Naigle. I am so happy to find her books and wanted to write a review in hopes others will discover her also.

This book was super cute I loved it! It does in some way remind me of You've got Mail but Dear Santa is also a story in its self. The story-line flowed well and kept you intrigued. You can read this story anytime not just as Christmas. I hope the author Nancy Naigle writes a followup story to this one. You want to keep reading to see where Angela, Geoff, and rest of the people in Pleasant Sands are doing. This book is a clean read I don't remember any swearing or any sexual material. This would make a perfect Christmas for any age reader..

Readers can always know that Nancy Naigle’s books will be sweet and touching, and Dear Santa was no exception. Angela and Geoff caught each other’s eyes at a coffee shop on a Thanksgiving morning. Both wondered who the other was. Angela had inherited a Chrismas shop that had been in her family for a few generations. Like many small retail shops, times were hard. Geoff’s family own a large Christmas themed chain of stores that threaten to be the final nail in the coffin of Angela’s store. Unfortunately, Angela believes that this makes them enemies. At first, it looks like there are too many obstacles in there way, but eventually their naturally kind personalities win out. This is an incredibly sweet holiday read!

I love the movie,You've Got Mail, so naturally I loved this story. The premise is the same but it uses Christmas stores instead of book stores. As I read i could see the movie play out in my mind. I love books with Christmas themes and this one did not disappoint.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Dear Santa. It’s a heartwarming read involving 2 rivals, a third generation store owner and Angela and mega store owner, Geoff.
With Geoff’s store moving in, long time customers are turning to the discount chain instead of Angela’s shop.

I really enjoyed the character development of the story. Perfect read if you are a holiday lover with some romance mixed in.

If you love <u> You've Got Mail /<u>, then you will love this book. Angela runs a small, unique, and expensive Christmas Store in her small town. Her Great-Great-Grandmother started it and she inherited it from her Grandmother. It's a tie the the Grandmother who raised her. A new Christmas Store moves into town with cheap merchandise and lots of glitz. They other stuff besides Christmas as well. Angela's shop is floundering. Even though I knew what the ultimate outcome would be, this is a darling, clean read. I love the writing style, so easy to read and the story pulled me in immediately. Angela is sweet, but having a struggle coming to grips with the end of her shop. She feels the loss because of her heritage and because she truly loved what she did. Geoff loves what he does, which is run the competition. The characters are wonderful, the writing style comfortable, and the story is sweet. This is the first book by this author that I have read. I definitely would read another book by Nancy Naigle.

I received an ARC of Dear Santa by Nancy Naigle courtesy of Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for a review. I really enjoyed this sweet story set in a beach town. Angela is the owner of a lighthouse that houses a Christmas store that has been in her family for generations. She loves the history and tradition of it, but business has fallen off to the point of being unsustainable around the same time a discount chain store comes to town. Her feelings are complicated by an attraction to the chain store owner. All good things must evolve and Angela has to find a new mission in life. I found this a nice story about fresh starts and reinventing.

This was a cute book. A very lighthearted read. This my first book that I have read by author Nancy Niagle and I wasn't disappointed. It was such a wonderful love story at my favorite time of the year. Angela and Geoff have something wonderful, and this book made me cry from happiness at the end.

I am a fan of Nancy Naigle books and was initially disappointed with this one as it seemed to take a while to get going. I persevered and it blossomed into a delightful romantic story based around the Christmas season. I definitely give it the thumbs up.

Well that's a nice thing for her sister to do.

Barefoot and in flip-flops anywhere but at the beach is gross.

Chrissy's dad sounds like a twat.

To me dressing is what you put on a salad.

I would run to her store.

People don't usually go shopping on Thanksgiving Day.

Er, third impression's a charm?

He's such a Scrooge.

Her grandma had the patience of a saint if she was giving a kid chocolate coffee and cookies.

I think his mom and Virgil are in love.

At least her pain is for a good cause.

See, her shop trumps your box store any day!

These Santa letters are fun. Bossy, Olivia. Nice try, Frank.

That was a sneaky move.

Good luck, Wally. I hope you get help one day.

I wish she had been able to keep her family's store open. But this job is a good fit for her.

It's August and we are in the "dog days" of summer and I'm reading a Christmas story. Not just any holidays story, but a retelling of "You've Got Mail" one of my all time favorite movies. Be that as it may, this is still a delightful read. When Angela inherited her grandmother's Christmas store, she was delighted. But now sales have been going in the wrong direction and The Heart of Christmas might possibly have to close. Her competition Christmas Galore is a chain store who is threatening her livelihood and her inheritance. Writing a note to Dear Santa at her niece's request, little does she know she is actually writing to the son of that store's owner. Worse, he doesn't realize that the note he's receiving is from Angela. I don't have to go into any more detail, for those of you who have seen the movie will relish the retelling of this charming story in book form.
