I really enjoyed this! Disabilities aren't seen too often in historical romance, and I like seeing how characters from a different time period deal with them. I think Stephen and Penelope were perfect for each other. I also liked the mystery aspect. It's always fun when a novel has a solid plot outside the romance.

Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon was at Sotheby’s to buy a painting. So was Lady Penelope Fisherton.. Both wanted the painting for different reasons. He, because it is a beautiful sunrise, she because she wanted something to offer him to help her prove that she didn't kill her scoundrel of a husband. Since he won, she had nothing to offer. She knows he worked as a spy in the war and thinks that he can help her. He is agreeable to helping her if she will give him a chance to seduce her. They are attracted to each other, maybe even in love but they both have secrets. She finds out that he is losing his eyesight. He will never marry because she wants children and he refuses to pass on his disability to a child of his. Her secrets are what her husband was doing to cause his death. He deserved to die, but did Lady Penelope kill him? Can she convince Lord Clevedon that she didn't kill her husband? What other secrets does she have and will they destroy their relationship? Great read with some of today's news headlines. I loved the book. It is a great read with suspense and love. Can love conquer everything? You need to read this book to find out. This historical romance is full of the details of seduction. The language is frank. The Marquess is losing his eyesight and wants to experience life fully before he is blind. The heroine is a widow accused of killing her husband and makes a deal with the Marquess to help clear her name--in exchange for a chance at seduction.

The investigation has a main lead that they chase repeatedly. Secrets are uncovered that are revolting. The main characters each have a strong reason not to marry the other.

I eagerly read till the end, yet never really loved the characters.

I received a copy of this title from the publisher for an honest review. Drawn to the Marquess is the second in the Imperfect Lord series, but easily works as a stand alone. The story opens at an art auction at Sotherby's where Penelope is determined to have the winning bid for a painting of a sunset that the Marquess of Clevedon, Stephen is rumored to desire. Penelope needs to get Stephen's attention so he will agree to help her investigate the death of her husband. Recently widowed in what was originally ruled a drunken accidental fall from a cliff, Penelope's brother-in-law is trying to get the investigation reopened and her convicted to obtain the money that her husband left to her. Penelope's marriage was anything but happy. Stephen finds himself intrigued by Penelope and agrees to help clear her name even though he feels she is hiding something. Stephen is dealing with the loss of his eyesight and it has begun to get worse; he is hoping to prevent anyone from finding out before his last sister is settled. He refuses to tell his family about his diminishing vision and has been suffering alone until Penelope guess what is happening. What follows is a tale featuring a well written mystery about what really happened to Penelope's husband; the romance between Penelope and Stephen is well developed and never feels rushed. I enjoyed both Penelope and Stephen as characters and appreciated that they were both mature adults with life experiences behind them.

Penelope need someone to help prove that she didn't kill her husband and she chooses Stephen. Stephen agrees to help Penelope in exchange for her allowing him to try and seduce her. Stephens only goal in life is to enjoy as much Beauty in the world is he can before he goes blind like his father before him. The secret Penelope's keeping is definitely different than other stories and that maintain some of the tension between Penelope and Stephen till the end of the story.

We are introduced to Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon at Sotheby's Auction House. Soon, he is in a bidding war with a mysterious woman over the Richard Wilson landscape of an exquisite sunrise. The lady congratulates him without giving up her name. This only intrigues Stephen even more than when he first laid eyes upon the beauty, therefore encouraging him to find out all he can about the mystery woman. He finds out that she is Lady Penelope Fisherton. One week later, Lord Clevedon comes to call on Lady Penelope and he finds out the reason why she bid on the same painting. As a deal is struck, Stephen and Penelope embark on an adventure filled with mystery, intrigue, and romance.

Bronwen Evans gives us characters who are instantly drawn to each other. When they start getting to know each other, their feelings for each other change throughout the course of the story. I enjoyed the premise when the author hooks the reader. Stephen and Penelope do the rest of the work of keeping a captive audience. You find out how each character is vulnerable to the rest of the world and how they react to this discovery. Ultimately, this will determine their future.

Penelope needs a hero...one who won't look too close and believes Stephen Hornsby could be the one. Her bad choice in a husband still haunts her even after his death and she needs someone to tidy up the detritus that was not her fault, but could look that way.
Stephen has his own problems, losing his sight is only one of them, but when he meets Penelope, he is entranced and wants to be her hero, but she hasn't told him everything and THAT could come back to haunt her.
Together with friends they shut down the evil operation he husband helped start and learned each others hearts..enough to fall deeply in love.

This seems like something that I have read before? Except Stephen wasn't losing his sight! I loved all the characters, his friends, their relationship, their stand against an evil which still exists in the world today! Lady Penelope is a good heroine, I liked her tremendously, she and Stephen were perfect together. Lady Penelope is being set up for killing her vicious husband, something many people should have given her a medal for, if she had! A good read . TMSFM

I have enjoyed previous books from this author and enjoyed this read as well. Both Stephen and Penelope (Pen) have trauma in their pasts that affects their present. I enjoyed reading about how they tore each other's walls down and got each other to believe in a future with someone both didn't know they could have and didn't know they wanted. I thought they had great chemistry. Some of the descriptions in character's thoughts and dialogue were repetitive, but that didn't detract too much from the story. Overall, this was a nice summer read and is one I'd recommend l

Stephen is a Marquess who may be going blind as his father had, and as a result he is obsessed with all things beautiful, especially women. His reputation is that of a respected peer, courageous former soldier, a man who can solve problems, and a rake talented with serious bedroom skills. He is also incredibly attractive.
Lady Penelope, a recently widowed sister of a duke, needs his help to rid herself of rumors that she killed her late husband or she stands to lose everything, including her life. Granted, “Pen” hated the dead husband’s guts, most everyone who knew the scoundrel felt the same, but murder?
The two make a rather interesting deal so that each gets what they desire. They are then drawn into an interesting plot of mystery and danger involving a group of colorful characters that made for an entertaining story.
I really enjoyed the story, especially the relationship between the two main characters. Each had their own personal misgivings and past tragedies, which added depth to the tale. The heat between them went beyond flirtation into seduction and beyond.
I recommend this book to historical romance readers who enjoy heat and intrigue with their hea.

The book was cute. I liked the characters, I liked the plot. Am I going to re-read it? No. But I enjoyed it while I was reading through. My largest complaint was with the amount of repetition. A character would think about their feelings, then explain their feelings, then turn around and explain their feelings again to another character. Not to mention I found it unrealistic that any man, let alone one in this time period, would be so in-touch with their feelings and willing/able to expound on them with their guy friends.

But overall it was a cute, happy, carefree summer read!

I enjoyed Pen and Stephens story, but there were parts I didn't like. It seemed repetitive that the characters were constantly thinking about or commenting on Stephen going blind and Pen not wanting any one to have control of her again. There was one sex scene that didn't impress me at all with Pen describing every action. That one scene almost reminded me more of a sex phone operator rather than a couple making love. All the other sexual interactions were more romantic and involved for me. The story was quite a bit different than any I've read before and I loved that Penelope was such a strong character! Stephen was so comfortable with his sensual side that is seemed natural the way he talked about sex. I did like the story and hope to see possibly more of this couple in further stories? Excellent book! I loved Stephen and Penelope! I work in ophthalmology so I immediately recognized Stephens condition and could sympathize with him. It’s got to be terrifying to know at a young age that you will go blind. Anyway Penelope was exactly what Stephen needed although she did have secrets of her own. There was some action and adventure thrown in which I always love in a story. Ms. Evans has become a auto buy author for me and I look forward to the next book.
