This book is so short and yet so sweet. I really don't want to go into too many details considering they would be massive spoilers. All I have to say is that I was not expecting any of those twists and yet I loved every one of them. Please, if you want a well-written fun story to read give this one a try.

Eighteen-year-old Faith has jumped into her car and driven away from her parents. She finds herself on a beach in Galveston where she comes across a mermaid, tail and all, on the beach. Over the next few days Faith keeps returning to satisfy the inexplicable connection she has with Seibal.

The story has an interesting premise but, at times, I found the unravelling a bit frustrating. I wasn’t quite sure why them/they pronouns were being used for Seibal because she is called a mermaid which already has a gender bias. Merperson would have made more sense in respect of the pronouns. I would have like more characterisation of Seibal in order to have a stronger belief in their connection but the story centred more on Faith.

Faith is really angry with her parents but the indications of what happened are a bit subtle until a sudden reveal which left me with more questions than answers. Her interactions with Seibal could have done with more dialogue and/or words that describe their connection. On the whole, this is a nice enough story although plot is too loose and needed a bit more tension.
