I have always enjoyed Dee Davis' writing and normal barrel through her work at a good pace. I was very much looking forward to this book given my previous experience with her writing. It didn't take me long to realise that this was not going to be my usual experience. I didn't get on with this book at all. The story was so unbelievable that it bordered on farce. The characters were one dimensional and cliché. This odd ball novel was not for me at all.

After Twilight by Dee Davis
A good read with some likeable characters. I found this to be slow but I read it. 3*.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. I really liked the characters, especially Braedon and Kacy, but there were times that it was a little over-the-top at times like it wanted to be a gothic romance, but wasn't really. Pretty good mystery and romance.

I would like to thank the Netgalley website and the CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform editions for this partnership.

I was immediately attracted to the cover and the summary.

We find Kacy who has changed her identity and lives in her grandmother's cottage. She fled her life before two years ago. She lives anonymously but with memories of the past, except that they will soon come back.

A captivating, moving story filled with suspense almost read in one go. I love the pen of this author, can wait to read the book two.

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

This is my first book by this author, although she has been on my authors to read list for awhile. It is a re-issue of the book originally written in 2001. When NetGalley offered the ARC, I accepted. I'm sorry to say that I am not really impressed. The story started out great, I thought is might be a gothic and that would have been fun, but it never really developed like that. The heroine, Kacy, has Daddy issues. Their relationship really messed her up and even after his death she is still protecting his memory, like a good little martyr.

After Daddy dies, she has a whirlwind romance and marries the guy, Alex Madison, only to find out he just wants her for sex, not the deep, loving relationship she craves. Duh. She married him after knowing him a week. He's got secrets too, like an identical twin, Max, and a shady business. Imagine that? When they have a big throw down and he flees into the stormy night, he is swallowed by a giant wave and never seen again. Kacy flees the tragedy, but she can't outrun her past - it just follows her. Alex left a lot of unsavory things when he died. Lucky bastard.

Kacy is in Ireland in the cottage her grandmother's family has owned for generations. She finds comfort and peace there with her painting and her father's antiques. In the village pub she meets a handsome, charming man, Braedon Roche, and falls for him not knowing he is a man on a mission and she is the mission.

Overall, the story was filled with overflowing melodrama and angst galore with Kacy as the self-sacrificing martyr. It just isn't my style.

The story was and could be exciting but there were to many sex scenes which did not add to the story in the least . The story of a woman who finds out after her husbands death he was a thief and a cheater, escapes her past to start over in the rugged coast of Ireland. Little does she know her husbands dirty deals have put her in danger and she is followed there by not one but two people .
I like the atmosphere of a Noir thriller and the descriptions of Ireland. The plot was solid and I enjoyed it except for the sex scenes repeated which I skipped.

Thank you for the ARC. My opinion is my own.

Two years ago Kacy MacGrath’s husband dies being swept out to sea at their home. Kacy is wracked with guilt and continues to blame herself. She has learned many things about her husband Alex after his death that she wished she never knew. She leaves for Ireland to start over. She meets Braedon who believes she worked with her husband as a forger who almost ruined him. Other incidents begin to occur and he is falling for her as he believes she had nothing to with what her husband was involved in and is also a victim. This is a romantic suspense but reminds me of the gothic romance where there is something sinister right around the corner. I enjoyed this story and felt the story had a good pace. Would read more from this author.

I am new to this author and am quite happy that I gave her a try. The characters were likable and though the story was somewhat predictable, I enjoyed it. A quick read that made a quiet rainy afternoon very pleasant. I recommend to all as a good story and quick read.

I loved the cover of this book. A great visual to lead us into our story. This was a bit of the normal romantic suspense that you would expect but half way through it got really fun and I truly was looking for the signs to answer my questions and solve the mystery. A very good read.

Also posted on Goodreads, LibraryThing and Amazon.

3 1/2 stars out of 5
I have read several series by Dee Davis and this one didn't stand up to the books this author has written. The story is predictable, it lacks creative descriptions of the female character (You can only read wounded green eyes so many times.) The romance is though the eyes of the male lead Braedon Roche which is nice change even if it was a little unbelievable at times.

After Twilight starts of with a bam and slowly falls into romance story that drags the story to a near stop.

Personally thought this story is a good representation of Dee Davis Romantic suspense stories. Please give her other series a try her Last Chance Series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Pocito Press for a chance to read Dee David After Twilight

Romantic thriller set mostly in Ireland. Interesting characters who have had difficult childhoods which have made them stronger. A fast paced story.

Can you outrun your past? Kacy has tried to move on but she still carries so much guilt. Her husband Alex was swept out to sea and there was nothing that she could have done to save him but she blames herself. After he dead she realized that she never really knew him and that she had no choice but to run & try to make a new life for herself. She is happy now but someone is about to turn her life upside down. Braedon has found her at all last and he will make sure that he finds out the truth. Her husband Alex wasn't a good man he was a thief and a cheat and he needs to find out the truth about what part Kacy played in his crimes. She can't believe that she could feel this way again she is still worried about the past but she needs to live in this moment. A friendly professor has come to visit and he seems to be very interested in her but Kacy thinks nothing of it. She is just so glad to be helping someone in the art world again. But this professor isn't here just for help he needs to find out more about Alex. Things are about to get worse for everyone concerned as Alex had a twin brother and he is out for blood and he will make Kacy pay for his brother's death and he will stop at nothing to get his revenge. She is about to find out that she can't trust anybody as they all want something from her and she now knows why Braedon has come to visit and she can't trust him again as he has hurt her. But she might have no choice as the past is about to come back to visit and everyone will be caught off guard. Who will be standing at the end? A good solid read. Loved Mac his character added to the book and the professor did the right thing in the end. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.
