Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me to read this graphic novel.

8 Year old Nola is missing her mother, and her dad gifts her a beautiful Music Box. It's enchanting, and as Nola listens and looks, she sees a tiny girl inside. Can it be true? Is she waving? She is and Nola steps inside the Music Box to Pandorient. She goes on a wild adventure and learns a few things even about her mother.

What gorgeous illustrations and a good story.

I really enjoyed The Music Box; while the story wasn't incredibly deep and the world only partially explored, I know that children will adore this graphic novel. There are a lot of younger children out there who need this kind of graphic novel - beautifully illustrated, easy-to-follow action, and not chock-full of difficult or made-up words as so many fantasy books can be. I will absolutely be touting this graphic novel to my early school age kids and am sure they will be asking when the second one will come out!

Nola's eighth birthday is sad; her mom has passed away and she doesn't feel like celebrating. But when her father gives her a music box that used to belong to her mother, she quickly finds out that there is a whole other world inside of it. Pandorient is a beautiful, but dangerous world, and her mother has been there before. Nola makes new friends very fast. In this first issue of The Music Box we are introduced to this new world.

The Music Box is an adorable fantasy graphic novel. The illustrations are exceptional, with vibrant colors and cute characters. The storyline is unique and interesting, and pretty easy to follow. It was an overall very good graphic novel to read, appealing to everyone, but even more so to children. Strongly recommended for graphic novel enthusiasts.

So I have mixed feeling about this comic. I really enjoyed the imagination that went into creating this world, and the characters were all pretty interesting. I liked that the main character was going through a problem that could relate to certain kids in a real life setting. I thought the art work was really nice and character design was also really great. Now where I feel a little mixed on; I thought the plot was kind of weird, I know its the first in the series but it is like why bring a little girl to this magical place just to have her heal someone and play doctor? Second, there is one scene where I was like wow that is extremely adult and awkward to be in a children's comic. All in all, this was a interesting read, not sure if I will continue with the series when/if more come out.

The illustrations are gorgeous and the colours are delightful. Whilst reading this I had absolutely no problems with the artwork. It was consistent and engaging, portraying the magic of the story perfectly.

However, the writing was very stilted. Almost every piece of dialogue ends in an exclamation mark and I felt that this made the whole thing feel very juvenile.

For that reason, I would highly recommend this graphic novel to children but I think as an adult it was quite shallow and the dialogue was irritating to read. Overall I sadly didn’t really enjoy it though I loved the artwork.

Nola’s mother has passed away and she receives from her father for her eight birthday her mother’s music box. The music box is magical and takes Nola to another world called Pandorient where she meets Andrea. Andrea at first thinks Nola is her mother and asks for her help to remedy her sick mother. Nola comes to find out that Nola’s mother and Andrea’s were friends.
As Nola tries to help make Andrea’s mother more comfortable, she meets Andrea’s brother, Igor. In the process of trying to make up some tea for the mother, they realize the water in the building is what is making her ill. This leads to the three of them investigating how Andrea & Igor’s mother is getting poisoned.
The story is very imaginative, quick paced but still sweet. A lot of interesting characters and absolutely beautiful illustrations. Highly recommend! Great for younger readers.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher, Europe Comics, for the opportunity to read this ARC.

The story follows a little girl called Nola, who receives a music box from her father on her Birthday. The music box appears to be a magic box that later on drags her into it! As she inspects the box she sees a little girl that is asking her for help. Nola reluctantly agrees and crawls into the music box after she shrinks and meets the mysterious girl, Andrea. Andrea asks Nola to help her sick mum get better. As the story evolves Andrea learns that Nola is not the girl she and her mother were looking for, though she is great help. Nola meets Andrea's brother, Igor and together all three are ready to help the sick mother to get better and so their adventurous journey begins!

The art is gorgeous! I had so much fun reading this beautiful graphic novel.
The story is good, the characters are lovely and I could connect with Nola in more parts than I can count.
I would definitely recommend this to younger readers, they would enjoy it a lot.

This charming children's book has some beautiful artwork and a very fast paced, action packed story.
Little Nola is given a present on her eight birthday, a pretty music box. But it appears to be a magic box!
The premise of the story is good, appealing to the endless imagination of kids - the idea magic and adventure in the most mundane of objects is something that resonates with all children.
It's a fast paced adventure, with little time for stopping and thinking about exactly what is going on. For an adult, this is jarring. But for a child, it would not be noticed, as kids often accept incredible circumstances with no fuss.
There are some subtle ideas that plant good morals within - an octopus style resident that loves a bird style resident, but have to hide it as they are not allowed to love who they wish, and a fox man who is creating an illegal substance to the upset of all around him. Very carefully done and not glaringly obvious, it would allow a child to ask a parent more if they were confused.
Stunning artwork, a joy to read.
Four stars only as I felt it was a little too rip roaring, the pacing was a little too frenetic.
