Melissa Foster surely knows how to weave a sexy romance, with alpha males that can be vulnerable at times and vulnerable females who can be made of steel when it counts. Funny, sexy, full of amazing characters that could be the people next door; Love Like Ours way a joy to read. Derek and Talia were so darn cute and fun together. This book has some interesting situations that I'm not sure how I would react to in real life but make me think long and hard how I would possibly feel if put into some things... Loved this book!!

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. I have read all three of the books in Melissa Foster's Sugar Lake series and really loved them all. I especially loved this one with the prim and proper professor falling for a male dancer. It was sweet and steamy and I loved the back stories of the characters. I am a huge fan of Melissa Foster and I recommend not only this book but the entire Sugar Lake series.

This was a really solid romance - interesting characters and situations. Melissa Foster definitely does feel good romance well and this is no exception. The hero is swoon worthy and the heroine is big hearted but lacks complete confidence. The story was well done and did a good job of navigating the growth of both characters. Very sweet with little angst. The story is ultimately about letting go and embracing life and love which is a really nice message to hear these days!

Love Like Ours is the third in the Sugar Lake series, and my favourite so far. We met Talia in previous books and I always thought she was such a prim and proper woman, being a Professor she does have to have a certain air about her, but when she falls for Derek who is her complete polar opposite their love story teaches us not to judge people.

Derek is a male dancer, not because he wants to be but because it is a means to make money. He is also a student and the reasons why he needs the money will just melt anyone’s stone cold heart. His father has early onset Alzheimer’s and Derek dances for the money and tips as he has grand plans to open a centre to help his father and others like him.

Whilst Talia and Derek lead two different life’s, there is no denying that they are perfect for one another, Derek is kind and compassionate but also brings out the wild side in straight laced Talia, making their romance just that little bit more awesome seeing Talia’s grow with his love for her and his father.

The research that Melissa has done regarding Alzheimer’s really shows through in this book, and the struggles that family members go through.

I still don’t know how Melissa does it, but this is yet again a book that will suck you in and spit you out feeling all kinds of wonderful happy feelings.

This book was simply amazing. Talia and Derek’s story was filled with an amazing connection, lots of heart, and difficult issues. Derek takes care of his father with Alzheimer’s, and as someone who watched a loved one deteriorate with this disease, Melissa Foster handled this book fantastically. The connection between Talia and Derek was instantaneous and bloomed to love quickly. I found myself devouring this story and can’t say enough good things about this book. Looking forward to the next in the series

Love Like Ours is the third book in the Sugar Lake series by Melissa Foster. While it is a series, and those following the series in order will have a better understanding of the characters and town, new readers will be able to fully enjoy the read as well.

Love Like Ours is a book full of feels. Talia is afraid of putting herself out there, and has been hiding behind her job and helping others rather than dating. When she did date it was all safe guys that she had no chemistry with- all because of a blow to her self esteem in college. I hate seeing characters that cannot seem to move past things like that for so long, but I will forgive that for now. Derek has a lot on his plate and adding a sexy professor with walls around her was unexpected. Their first encounter, and second, were pure chance, and I loved seeing their personalities play off each other. Derek is almost too perfect- so patient and sweet while trying to break down Talia's walls and help her trust him, and herself. Their intimate moments were very hot, and there were a ton of super sentimental moments. There were a few too many super sweet moments for me, Derek was just too sweet and thoughtful for me, firmly fantasy. However, it was a sweet and romantic read that fans of the series and the author will enjoy. I will stick out the series because I need Ben to get his moment, and I kind of want to know more about the secondary characters and their happy endings as well.

Love Like Ours is as hot and heart warming as I expect from Foster. The characters are real and complex, and sentimental enough to trigger as the feels.

This was a very touching story about all the things you are willing to sacrifice for family. Very emotional and wonderful story of love and family.

I really enjoyed the emotional aspect of this story. The fact this book deals with Alzheimer's really touched my heart. However, Derek seems almost too perfect, to be honest. And the chemistry between him and Talia felt forced. I enjoyed every aspect of the book except the relationship between Talia and Derek,

Another fantastic story from Melissa Foster! This is a great blend of fun, sexy, a bit emotional and a great HEA.

Once again Melissa takes on a journey, one that plagues millions of people over the world. Having had an aunt with early onset Alzheimer’s, I know the struggles that Derek is going through in this book and so I was able to really relate and feel more in this book.
The struggles he faces is a tough road for family and friends of those that suffer from this horrible disease. So I applaud Melissa for bringing this to life on the page and showing the disease as it is.

I love Melissa hard. She always gives you charismatic characters, an enticing storyline and leaves you with a smile and a heart full of happiness!

Talia thinks Derek is one of her students in a college course she is filling in for. What Talia doesn't know is that Derek is just coming to her class because he wants to see her. The two have a whirlwind romance filled with family drama, male dancing and more. This was a good read. I look forward to reading more by this author.

This is the third book of the Sugar Lake series and they keep getting better.
They are all stand alone, but I advise you to read them all because they are so good.
Talia is a college professor and while driving and talking to her crazy family she almost run over Derek in the college parking lot. He is a 29-year old student finishing his masters and taking care of his father and living a very different life that Talia ever known or wanted for her.
I will tell you what... Derek Grant is one of the best male characters that Melissa Foster has ever written. Usually male characters in romance must be all together, protective etc etc and in a way he is like this, but most of all Derek is an human being just doing the best he can in a difficult situation.
He is so human and so understanding.
Talia is a wonderful character too. I think she learns more with Derek than she thought she ever did with anyone else. Melissa Foster shows us in this book that it is easy to judge but difficult to live in a hard situation.
I loved this book!

I really enjoyed this book. It's book 3 in the Sugar Lake series. Talia and Derek are very sweet together.

I especially enjoyed that Derek cared for his father with Alzheimers. It was a touching, lovely part of the storyline.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I look for a few things when reading a book for a review: overall craft, obligatory scenes met, beginning hook and third act of the story or climax. I've had a hard time with this series. I read the first two to be able to review this third installment. The series in itself sounds intriguing. This series is supposed to be about undying love, however the lust and crazy sexcapades sort of deviates from the actual bond. There is so much kissing in every scene and lustful thoughts that it overcrowds the messages trying to be conveyed.

Such as in this one, there is an essential message of the family bond and the trials of Alzheimer's. The second or sub-plot seems to be something in the way of being true to yourself, however, that seems to be clouded with scenes of frilly romance and sex scenes that it messes with the depth of the message. I had a tough time taking the sleazy dancer aka stripper seriously most of the time. It upsets me because women are raped, objectified and harassed in similar situations. Often they are single moms, yet a guy doing it is deemed "noble" somehow? It's a good reminder of the sexism in this world. Anyways, that's my rant.

The obligatory scenes which would be courtship, conflict, a budding relationship, another conflict, and the final "choice" the hero must make at the end that could forever change their directions. Well, in all three novels she skims over the obligatory part - there isn't much conflict or suspense between the couple and in this one -the male dancer is this perfect guy with all the right answers and everyone loves regardless the whole way through. There is no push back or significant obstacles for the couple to face. In the end, the final conflict is minor at best and lasts for less than a couple of pages before it's resolved during one conversation.

Now for the overall craft: I liked the family dynamic, that kept me reading. The characters are round and each one of the Dalton family members has their personality with personal conflicts, they all have a story and are pretty well-rounded significant characters. The flat characters are also nicely written in and assume their creative roles effectively. Other than the overwhelmingly perfect, fairy-tale love with zero relationship conflict, it was still an exciting read.

Love Like Ours by Melissa Foster was a fabulous third book in the series!

As soon as I heard the synopsis for this novel, I knew that I was going to enjoy it. I mean, a professor and a male dancer.... what more can you want? Before reading, I was slightly unsure what kind a connection these two characters would have because they seemed so different. I am glad to say, that they had a wonderful connection. Better than I could have ever imagined. They were able to open up to one another, unlike they were ever able to open up to anyone else. They were able to rely on one another no matter what the circumstances, and knew that the other would always be there for them.

I definitely enjoyed Love Like Ours! I would definitely recommend everyone go and pick up the whole series today.

Well hello there Derek! Wow I totally fell in love with his character. The world definitely needs more Derek's in it. He's there for his dad no matter what it costs him. He's doing everything that he can so that his dad will have the best care. He hasn't really cared what other people thinks of what he does to make money until he meets Talia. He won't quit though, the money is too important for his dreams. Will she be able to come to terms with it or will it be too much?

Talia doesn't step out of her comfort zone. She sees no reason to, she's content. Then she meets Derek and the sparks fly, comfort zone out the window. He makes it hard for her to not step out of her comfort zone. The more she gets to know him, he just blows her away with who he is and what he wants to accomplish.

Loved these two as a couple and the chemistry between them is hot!
