Susan May Warren never disappoints she has done it again, romance, adventure and mystery all in one novel!! It is a clean read as well! Happy Clean Romance Reading!

Synopsis:
Pete Brooks can't believe he's waited an entire year for Jess Tagg to return to Montana, only to have her break his heart by getting engaged to her ex-fiancé. Worse, a series of mistakes on the job have cost lives, and Pete isn't sure he wants to continue to work in Search and Rescue. Maybe if he can just get over Jess, he can figure out how to move forward.

EMT Jess Tagg has returned to Montana to finally give her heart to Pete, but it seems he's no longer interested. When a terrible fight between them sparks an impulsive decision, she finds herself crashed on the side of a highway along with Esme Shaw. And just when she thinks things couldn't get any worse, she and Esme are taken captive and into the untamed Montana wilderness--with murderous intent.

Now Pete and the other PEAK Rescue Team members are in a race against time, the elements, and the actions of a vengeful man. Pete will have to use everything he's learned to find Jess and Esme--and pray that his past mistakes don't cost him the life of the woman he can't stop loving.

Wait for Me is the much awaited last novel in the Montana Rescue series by Susan May Warren. It could be read alone but I would highly recommend reading the other novels in the series first to get the necessary background.

It was so great to finally get to get a happy ending to Pete and Jess's love story. These two have been through a lot together and have to endure even more before the end of this book. It is action packed and will leave you wanting to stay up all night just to find out what happens next. Susan May Warren is at her best when she is writing dramatic and suspenseful scenes and Wait for Me will not disappoint. In addition to hearing about how Pete and Jess's story ends it was nice to read about Shae Johnson (AKA Esme Shaw) and other members of the PEAK team. As sad as I was to see the Montana Rescue series end it certainly went out on a high note. I can't wait to see what Susan May Warren writes next!

3.5 stars
In many ways, this was one of the best in the series, since it had to move beyond dragging out the drama to another few books and get the issues all taken care of by the end of the book/series. I wasn't sure at first if I was going to read this book because Pete and Jess annoyed me so much the last few books with their refusal to just come out and talk through their problems, and it was good to watch them start to talk through it.

I was disappointed in the faith thread because it was very present in some ways but in others was exceedingly generic, and when Pete lost Jess he didn't turn to it...he self-destructed again. To the point that he <spoiler>tried to find another woman to have sex with</spoiler> and I had a big issue with that element. Also the faith question never crosses Jess's mind when she is tangled up with two men who want to marry her; the other man seems to have either no or very little faith and who knows what that faith might be in, because no one ever mentions it. Many folks are willing to pray in the middle of danger and that doesn't mean they believe in God or trust in Jesus. So the spiritual lessons are there but only would be edifying in the context of having a reader who already knows what faith is.

But the survival parts were non-stop thrill and had me on the edge of my seat. The mystery is weaker (there really aren't any clues to go off of) so that leaves it more as a reaction to danger rather than anything to figure out. Very much an outdoors man-against-nature focus with a dose of "danger from another man" thrown in.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

After reading Wait for Me, I had to get the entire Montana Rescue series. I read Wait For Me first but realized that to truly appreciate the depth of the main characters relationship, I needed to go back and read them all. So, you could read this book as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading the series in order (from what I've been told from others who've read the entire series).

Pete is a member of PEAK rescue team and full of adventure, but you get to see a vulnerable side as well. Jess is caught between living a double life and pleasing people. I enjoyed each of the characters including the supporting characters. The plot is engaging and well developed. If you are looking for a suspenseful, adventurous, romance then this book checks all of the boxes.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This is the first book in this series that I have read unfortunately. Why because the other characters seemed so enchanting. I will have to go back and read the others now. Pete Brooks and Jess Tagg (Selene Jessica Taggert) are two people with a history and lots of misunderstanding and pain to get through on their road to their HEA. It was a little hard to keep all of the different characters straight and was with who but I stayed up until early in the morning to finish. I finally gave up at 4:00 a.m. when I couldn't understand the paragraph and realized I still have 4 more chapters to get through. I couldn't do the book justice anymore. I had to put it down for sleep. I had a hard time with that as the plot in the story had woven a spell on my hands and I couldn't let my e-reader down.

The story was full of flash backs and intrigue as to ultimately who is the bad guy that kidnapped Jess, Ned and Shae. There were several to choose from that I couldn't figure it out. I adored the multiple POV format here. Understanding the thoughts and emotions from several different characters and not just the two main protagonists was a must in this story. It helped to identify with them especially as I had not previously read any of the prior stories.

I do recommend this story. This author did a wonderful job in drawing me into these characters and their "lives". I really felt that I was right there with them as the action was happening.

This series has been one wild ride after another! Just when you think they can all settle down and enjoy life, some crazy person runs them off the road! Or a tornado seems to hunt them down! Or they are lost at sea!

I was honestly really excited to get to Pete's story! He's been one of my favorite characters from the beginning. There is so much action and emotion in this story you will not be able to put it down. This book comes highly recommended!

What an incredible conclusion to this epic series! As always, Susan May Warren packs in action, suspense, harrowing brushes with death and disaster, and quite a few twists and turns in the story to make you stay up way past your bedtime reading....and thinking, just one more page....

And the raw emotional intensity of the main characters is completely heart-wrenching and real. If you've read the previous books in the series, you've been impatiently waiting for Pete and Jess to have their story. Even if you haven't read any of the previous books, this particular book can be read as a standalone because there are many flashbacks that make up the bulk of Pete and Jess' story.

Pete is a changed man and gone are his wild ways. He's still heroic, protective to a fault, and passionate but he's completely undone and broken and wounded by Jess who has returned to her glamorous lifestyle in NYC. Jess doesn't know who she is or what she wants and feels trapped. Felipe, Jess' previous fiancé, actually plays a bigger role in the story than I thought he would and became quite likable even though he's competing against Pete for Jess. And then there are Ned and Shae. Ned is the younger version of Pete and so incredibly heroic. Shae has finally returned home to Mercy Falls, Montana not just to attend Ben and Kacey's wedding reception but also to find closure in her run from the man who killed her previous boyfriend. Each of these characters must learn to fight their fears to conquer them but also learn to ask for help from their friends, and family in conquering these fears. What a satisfying finale to an adrenaline-packed series full of rescue, grace, hope, love and joy.

Storyline: 5 stars
Depth: 5 stars
Faith: 3 stars
Love Story: 5 stars
Overall - 4.5 stars

This final book in the Montana Rescue Series has been an agonizingly long time in coming, so these two chicks are thrilled that it’s finally here!

All the way back in book 1, we were introduced to Pete and Jess. Their story has had many twists and turns throughout this series of 6 books and it finally has its conclusion. Right from page one of Wait For Me the reader hits the ground running and never, ever stops. The storyline of this book is filled with action, gripping suspense and heart aching flashbacks as to what really has been happening between Pete and Jess for the last few years. As we have said before, author Susan is the master of story writing and she didn’t disappoint in this one!

The storyline, the depth and the sweet love story all deserved the highest ratings we give as they wound together to bring us a fantastic conclusion to this series! The only thing holding us back from a golden 5 star rating was the faith element. The story lacked the depth of faith we are used to in Susan’s stories, and really didn’t come into play much until the end of the book. Still we were glad to see it near the end.

Overall, this Montana Rescue Series will be one of our highly recommended reads and we have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

I picked this book up and quite literally could not put it down until I finished reading it. Wait for Me is worth every hour of sleep sacrificed and then some! There isn’t anything boring or predictable about this highly anticipated romance.

Pete is irresistibly charming and courageous to boot. His surprising vulnerability makes me love him even more. When those tough (and a little bit wild) rescuer types are willing to reveal their raw and honest selves, that is to be cherished.

Jess is torn between two lives and two fiancés. I’m pretty sure there isn’t a guidebook for reconciling two very different lifestyles while keeping everyone in your life happy and bless her heart, that’s exactly what tender-hearted Jess wants to do.

The delightful complexity and pulse rocking adventure readers have come to associate with Warren’s expansive fictional universe shines once more in this exciting Montana Rescue series conclusion. I personally plan to binge read the entire series at my earliest opportunity!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

The author has created a really rich cast of characters, ones that clearly have their own interwoven back stories, but she fills in enough of said stories that the book works well as a stand-alone. (That said, she gave just enough detail along with showing her gift for building an exciting story to pique my interest and motivate me to go back to the beginning of the series.)

Let me start by saying that the synopsis above, while intriguing, struck me as a bit confusing, and in hindsight, it's a very simple overview of the plot. In other words, this book is SO much better than its synopsis (which is not a bad thing! I hate it when a book doesn't live up to its description.)

The characters are complicated and a bit flawed. Pete is determined, perhaps too much so, competitive and maybe a bit proud. Jess is a little too giving to others (to her own detriment) and finds herself caught in a lie to please her mother (and we know THAT never works out well.) And of course, there are crossed lines and miscommunications that will have you yelling at the characters (because you've been sucked in.)

What this book also has is a fast-paced, tension-filled plot, and a couple big plot twists that I did not see coming. There's romance, a lot of hold-your-breath suspense and action, this book had a little of everything! As it's Christian fiction, the romance is clean.

I have read all the books in this series and I am so sad to see it end. This book is absolutely amazing! Words cannot describe how I feel about these characters and the nonstop action in this book. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

They can be read as stand alone books, however, I’ve liked reading them in order for more character development and relationships. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and series!

I have very much been waiting for Pete and Jess' story! And it was worth it because Pete? And Jess? And Pete and Jess together?? Ah, my heart! I was so ready for them to both be honest and real with each other. Of course, it takes a bit for them to do so and we have lots of mystery and side plots to keep things rolling. An excellent ending to this series! I highly recommend it. And then you should go back and read all the other stories in the series if you haven't yet! (But you might actually want to begin with the first one because it's worth the build up of Jess and Pete...)

**I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Wow!!! I love the way Susan May Warren weaves her past ( and hopefully some future??? 🤞) characters into the current storyline. So seamless and I love getting to catch up with the characters and how they are doing. Always a little sad when a series reaches it's end, but I hope to see some of the characters show up in future books.

As always great story, great characters and great ending!

I usually love Susan May Warren’s writing, but this book didn’t really hit the same mark for me. Wait for Me is the final Montana Rescue installment, and it’s the tale of Pete Brooks and Jess Tagg at long last. Much of the story focuses on Jess’s personal history, a twisty romance, and the current drama of a sudden group abduction followed by a desperate search-and-rescue effort in the wilds of Montana.

Like Ian and Sierra’s romance, Pete and Jess’s story has been drawn out through several books, with scenes here and there advancing and regressing their romance. And like Ian and Sierra’s romance, by the time Pete and Jess’s story finally unfolds fully in Wait for Me, I was just ready for them to stop the one-step-forward-two-steps-back dance they’ve been doing the whole series.

To be honest, I would’ve been more interested in Jess and Pete if their romance had played out solely as a secondary storyline in the other Montana Rescue books, how Warren handled Ian’s niece Shae’s story. I didn’t see a need for them to have their own installment. Wait for Me is a solid romantic adventure, but its protagonists have already gotten sufficient page time, and it gets a little bogged down in secondary plot lines. Felipe seems unnecessary, and the bad guy needs to be a little more fleshed out.

Don’t get me wrong: if you love Susan May Warren’s books, you’ll enjoy Wait for Me. The search-and-rescue backbone of this series is fascinating. Plus, romance, intrigue, adventure, a final chance to catch up with all the Montana Rescue characters you’ve come to love. It just isn’t my personal favorite of the series.

What a finish to the Montana Rescue series! I wasn’t too sure about the plot description of this sixth book in the series, but I couldn’t have been any more wrong. It is a great story that weaves in several characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I received an arc from Netgalley. This book was a conflicting book for me and the relationships between the main characters were messed up and seemed unrealistic.

May be a book for others but just not my cup of tea.

I recommend you read this series in order. Last I knew, the prequel that begins the series was still free in e-book format.

Susie is the queen of strong opening lines. You’ll be hooked right away. She includes great opening lines when we meet a new POVC (point-of-view characters).

Pete had “never been good at surrender.” This was a perfect summation for this flawed hero. I liked watching him risk trusting, risk relying on others. Risk loving the heroine. It’s been years now, and we readers wanted to see these two together. Great suspense that keeps you reading.

Jess is indecisive, which is relatable at times in our lives. She has some decisions to make and some messes to clean up. She’ll have to overcome her fears as well.

I enjoyed many of the story’s themes, like “true love declares you worthy,” and trusting in God’s love.

Here’s my favorite quote: “It’s not about deserving it. It simply is. I love you. I would die to save you. Full stop.”

A strong ending to an enjoyable series!

Pete Brooks has had possibly the worst year on record. Mistakes on the job have cost lives which has caused him to second guess his career choices. As if that wasn't bad enough, it has been almost a year since Jess Tagg returned to New York, promising to come back and marry him as soon as she can. However, all indications are that she has gone and gotten engaged to her former fiance, leaving Pete broken-hearted. When he tries to move on, she finally shows up, telling him he shouldn't believe everything he reads in the paper.

All Jess wants is to make everybody happy. The problem is, to do that, she has to crush Pete's heart, and her own in the process. When she attends Ben and Kacey King's wedding reception, she hopes to make things right with Pete, only to find him kissing another woman. Their fight sends her running again, this time with Esme Shaw, herself no stranger to running away. As they leave the party with Esme's (Shae's) new boyfriend, they are horrified to be forced off the road and kidnapped. Escaping the kidnapper is their first priority, but all of them are injured in some way. How long can they survive a Montana December with a killer on their trail?

PEAK Rescue, with Pete Brooks in the lead, puts their impressive talents to work to find Jess, Ned, and Shae before the killer on their trail can finish them off. Will they make it in time?

Susan May Warren pulled out all the stops on this, the final book of her Montana Rescue series. The suspense builds from the beginning, and let me tell you, by about 80 percent in the book, it is screaming! I loved that every member of the PEAK team checked in at some point of this story, and that all of the others are well into their happily-ever-afters. I also loved how much Pete changed from the beginning of the series to the end. He became a man of honor, when he was pretty much a player at the start. He was definitely a worthy hero for this story.

If you have read any of the rest of this series, you will NEED to read Wait For Me. If you just like amazing suspense, where you won't know who the bad guy is for sure until the end, you will enjoy Wait for Me. Personally, I would recommend starting at the beginning and reading all six books, but Wait for Me can be read as a stand-alone, if you must. I absolutely recommend this one!
