Man saves woman, and woman saves him right back.

Eli rescues Cass after a nasty car accident. Cass rescues Eli from his loneliness. Even with concussion-induced amnesia, bruised ribs, and various injuries, she can't help but fall for the chivalrous, hunky, yet brooding cowboy. For his part, Eli is doing all he can to take care of Cass and help her heal, even if it means ignoring his attraction to her and trying to keep his hands to himself. Cass has a kind soul and endless optimism, just what Eli has been missing all his life. Protective, dependable, and caring, Eli is everything Cass has dreamed of. Throw in a few cute pups and some Christmas spirit, and you've got an adorably sweet love story. Jessica Clare has gained a new fan -- I can't wait to read more of her work!

Eli is the only one left on the ranch to take care of the animals when everyone else leaves to visit their families for the holidays. That's fine with him because he doesn't like Christmas. Cass is so glad to be able to get out of New York and is looking forward to a great snowy Christmas in the country. When Cass is injured in a car accident and loses her memory Eli finds her and they begin a sweet relationship. Fun holiday romance.

3.5 stars- Jessica Clare is my go-to comfort contemporary read, so when I saw she had a Christmas book coming out this year (cuz y'all know I love a Christmas book), I was hype. This delivered everything I want from a Jessica Clare contemporary- light/funny tone, low angst, and (usually) awareness of potentially icky power dynamics or cringey tropes. This book is a forced proximity, trapped-together-in-the-snow trope.... with amnesia. So. Much. could have gone wrong here, but I really appreciated that she flagged where there were potentially problematic elements and made that a part of the conflict that the h/h worked through. I do think pacing wise this book is a little off, and to be honest, I think it may have worked better as a novella. But that being said, it was a fun read for me and I am the world's biggest sucker for forced proximity of the snowed in variety, so it wasn't hard for me to work through any of the parts that lagged a bit. This is a fun Christmas contemporary that delivers on it's promises and made me smile- recommended!

And yes, I know it's September & I'm already reading Christmas books. Don't @ me ;)

I'm a huge Jessica Clare fan, and openly admit to stalking sites for when her next release will be out. I haven't read a book of hers I didn't just love, until now. This was ok, but maybe I'm just a book snob because I expected more. The story line was rushed, and went from looking at someone to loving them. Like in a day. So much character and story development was just missing for me- and it had a great background and setting to go with. It's a quick read, and most people will probably love it, I just wanted more. I wanted the Jessica Clare "it" factor, and just didn't get that with this one.
