Love the name of the main character Bea A. Fraid. So cute. The pictures were fun and the story was silly. A good message about not fitting in. Kids will enjoy as a read aloud (more older kids than pre-K).

This book had us cracking up. It had great humor, taught about being yourself and had a great story.

We absolutely loved the artwork and I feel it was written really well.

Ok, it's a tad too silly for me, but littles up to maybe 9 will love this story! Bea can't be scary like her school mates, she wants to be funny! But funny is scaring them! Story is loaded with silly jokes and puns young kids are going to find hilarious! More mature kids aren't going to see it. It's just a fun fun story about being yourself and accepting everyone for who they are and being friends. It's just fun.

Sweet, funny and very entertaining. Also, amazing illustrations. Such a good book for the kids to read on Halloween!

I was rather surprised by Ghoul School. It tells the story of a monster who wishes to be take a different path in life. Rather than be scary of frightening she prefers to make people laugh. It looks like her jokes do scare some of her classmates and teachers though. This was a funny story and delivered a wonderful message which is that is it alright to be different. In the end, this could be the very thing that makes you special.

This is a fun book all about scary and funny. Bea A. Fraid is not your typical ghoul. She prefers to make people laugh, but to many, funny is scarry. It’s not normal at her school. It’s Scary. This book has a way with puns and word play that was refreshing and fun to read.

Ghoul School is a fun story about Bea A. Fraid who doesn't want to be scary. The monsters are playful looking and not scary. There is a lot of word play and jokes and fun (not scary) spooky references. It is cleverly written and will definitely appeal to the 8 and under age group. My 6 and 8-year-olds loved it as a read aloud and were repeating the jokes all afternoon. I would definitely recommend it.

Ghoul School is an amusing picture book about a young ghoul who would much rather be funny than scary. Young kids will enjoy the Laffy Taffy-style jokes and spooky wordplay.

I didn't get to to see the final artwork, which i look forward to because I like O'Malley's art. This is a funny read that would work well for a read-aloud with 5-8 y/o. It can be used at Halloween if you want but the monster theme can be read year round.

Bea A. Fraid doesn’t really fit in at Ghoul School. At Ghoul School, the scarier you are, the better your grade. But Bea doesn’t want to be scary, that’s boring. She would rather be funny. Her teachers and even the principal tell her she must try harder to be scary. Funny thing is, her jokes seem to scare the other students away. So, even though she’s doing things differently, isn’t she being successful if everyone is running away from her?

Fun wordplay (like principal Mrs. Ima Grave) and the jokes will make this a fun read aloud and a student favorite. A definite addition to my library’s collection.

Bea A. Fraid is a young ghoul who does not fit in at her school. Everyone else is trying to be scary, she is trying to be funny. At a Ghoul School, it turns out that being funny is actually scary to everyone else. The jokes are very corny, but my grandson loved them, especially the booger one. He is only four so did not get the message of being yourself and not trying to be like everyone else, but he still enjoyed the story and the illustrations. The illustrations are large, colourful and not scary at all. This would be a great Hallowe'en story as well as one when teaching about being true to yourself and that it is okay to be different. A great addition to a school or class library.

Ghoul school had me right from the ebginning where Bea A. Fraid says that she learns how to scare others at her all-ghoul school. Sort of a Monsters University. It is twistily funny where she is humorous and that creeps others. I loved the detail of the headmistress earrings being a skull.
Bea's last name and the whole setting of the school is creative. You can never be too cool for this all-ghoul school.

This book is kind of cute, but also really confused me. Bea is at a Ghoul School to learn to be scary, but all she wants to do it be funny and tell Bazooka bubblegum style jokes. For some reason her being funny is really scary to the other ghouls in school. Her conversations with the principal were a bit like an Abbott and Costello Who's on First skit, "being scary is not funny!" I couldn't tell if she was being yelled at for scaring the other students by being funny, or for being funny and also told how to be scary? This was a cute book, but left me kind of confused. Kids will probably thing the jokes (like telling a ghost there's a boo-ger in his nose...) are hilarious.
