An addictive novel that will suck you in and have you hooked until you turn the last page. Full of suspense which I loved. I didn't realize this book was the second in a series so I am looking forward to going back to read the first novel as well.

Dangerous Girl – Emma Tallon

This is the second book in the Anna Davies series and I enjoyed it equally as much as the first Runaway Girl. I did my usual and curled up with my kindle, a cuppa and whiled away a couple of hours lost in the murkier side of the London underworld lifestyle.

You could be forgiven for thinking that this is a love story because to an extent it is, it’s partly about the intense love between Anna and Freddie, a couple who couldn’t be more different. One is a criminal and the other as straight as they come. Their worlds collide in a spectacular fashion. This book delves into the world of drugs, kidnap and murder, their love and loyalty will be tested to its limit.

This is a really good series if you want a quick easy read. I would definitely recommend this to fans of Martina Cole and Kimberley Chambers to name but a few.

Read for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture

I think I should have been given a warning, that this book was no 2. in a series and because of that I never could really pick up the book to read because I have to read the first book in order to get the full story, and so the wait began because I had to get book 1 now. This series is amazing and I wish I could have gotten to reading it sooner, because I have never read anything like this, once I got hooked on Runaway Girl, I got wrapped up in Anna's story, everything about the two books is addictive. I didn't have high hopes, but I was blown away and I commend Emma Tallon for such masterful story-telling.

This is the second book in the series featuring Anna, a strong independent woman, and the love of her life, Freddie. He is a known gangster, but with a heart of gold where Anna is concerned.
This book picks up shortly after the explosive ending of the first book (no spoilers I promise), so its easy to follow the story line.
I really loved the fast pace of the book, the plot twists and turns, and couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.

I've enjoyed reading this but I feel I had to read the first installment. It actually doesn't say this book is a part of a series or that this is the 2nd book, so it feels confusing. I want to know Anna more and her past so I can empathize with her and feel her character.

Having thoroughly enjoyed The Runaway Girl I couldn't wait to read this!
Anna has gotten away from her abusive ex boyfriend and herself and Tanya now own one of London's hottest clubs But her boyfriend, Freddie goes out in the middle of the night and she doesn't know where he goes.

The a girl goes missing from one of his clubs and Freddie goes mad. Then he's given an ultimatum if he doesn't find the girl Anna will die. Where is she and who is stalking Tanya? I was totally hooked the whole way through and loved the relationship between Freddie and Anna and how he risked everything for her and he is so good to those he cares about. Highly recommend Dangerous Girl and can't wait for more!

Thank you to Bookouture, Emma Tallon and NetGalley for the arc of Dangerous Girl my review is honest and unbiased.

Right, this was a good story, gripping, intriguing with all the necessary elements. There is no doubt that Emma Tallon is a talented, imaginative and creative writer. However, and maybe I'm being puritanical here; I'm not a fan of books that aggrandise murderers. The more I read about what a great guy Freddy was, wonderful partner, devoted son, solicitous brother, in the back of my mind I was thinking, "he also murders people who get in his way". Try as I might to shift it, that thought kept pushing through. I didn't think it would bother me quite as much as it did. This leaves me in a quandary as to how many stars to award. I found it unsettling and disquieting but it was a good novel, eloquently written. I feel it's somewhat harsh to remove stars just because the moral of the story didn't sit well with me, after all, I chose to read it, nobody forced me. Maybe this is on Ms Tallon's agenda, how ridiculous we all are investing our hearts in Freddy and Anna, when he's a villainous murderer. I will definitely read more by Emma Tallon, but not in this series I think. Well written and compelling.

So I make a resolution to never start a series without reading the first books first, and what do I grab as my next book? The second in a series!! GAH I can’t win! However in my defence it doesn’t say anywhere in the description that this is a sequel! And thankfully, I got by just fine not having read the first one. I didn’t even realise it was a sequel until I started looking into it after I had finished it!

So this story centres around Anna and Freddie, a happy couple in London. Anna runs a club and Freddie, well he is the head of a crime family. Anna doesn’t seem to care about the fact that her boyfriend is a criminal and occasionally murders people as he helped her out of a tricky situation with an ex boyfriend a few years prior. So when a girl goes missing outside one of Freddie’s clubs, he and Anna are dragged into a complete mess.

I really enjoyed this story. However I had a few problems with the characters. I find it hard to warm to characters that actively go about murdering people. Even if they only get the “bad guys”. So I found it hard to like the family. It was all fun and banter and brotherly love and then oh a bad guy, anger, shoot him in the head and only feel slightly bad about it, and then put the blame on everyone else...

However, it was fun. A fun escape. The twists were all predictable, but it was still fun to experience them.

The writing was great, the atmosphere changed from light to heavy well. It was entertaining.

Would I recommend Dangerous Girl?
Yes it was a good thriller. It had a solid story line, and was an entertaining and quick read!

Many thanks to bookouture via netgalley for a copy of dangerous girl to review

Thankyou to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author, Emma Tallon, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of Dangerous Girl in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.
I thought this book was well written with an engrossing storyline and characters. It was an action packed novel with plenty of twists.
Well worth a read.

Well Emma Tallon has just become a name to watch in this genre. Whilst I enjoyed her first novel, Runaway Girl, I felt that it lacked a bit of impact and overall wasn’t as good as the likes of Jessie Keane. I have just finished Dangerous Girl and could not have loved it more. It had everything that I want from a gangland thriller and more and has left me absolutely desperate to continue the Tyler family saga.

This time around I felt I knew the characters better and felt that there was more depth to the writing which allowed each individual character to shine through. Freddie was by far and away my favourite character and if you like a loveable villain then this is the character for you. His family values and morals are not something new in this genre but he is a character I found easy to like, when you look past things like criminality and murder that is. Anna this time around was a character I enjoyed reading about, more so when compared to Runaway Girl. Characterisation is strong throughout with some detestable characters who really got by blood boiling.

I love Emma Tallon’s writing and how it really drew me in and immersed me right into the story. I was reading this book at every available opportunity and couldn’t get enough of it. It has a storyline that is packed full of emotion, and by the end of the story I felt like I had been on a real journey with these characters. It’s shocking, impactful and will certainly be one of my most memorable reads of the year. I loved the ending and felt that it was very reminiscent of Of Mice and Men in places. Overall this was a fantastic gangland thriller and Emma Tallon is without doubt going to be one to watch in this genre. I cannot wait for her next book.

This book had me gripped right at the start. Full of suspense. I spent a lot of my time on the edge of my seat. Each page revealing more of the interesting characters weaving towards the deadly conclusion.

I would like to thank Bookouture Publishing and the Netgalley website for this partnership.

I was immediately attracted by the blanket, you can see the beautiful Anna who is finally happy. Her ex, she left him, except that her new boyfriend is hiding things from her, he doesn't even tell her where he goes at night. As for him, he must find a girl who has disappeared or Anna will be killed.

A book read almost in one go that I loved with a captivating story full of suspense and twists and turns. Looking forward to reading more of this author's books.

Dangerous Girl is the second in what looks to be an ongoing series featuring the powerful Tyler family. Freddie Tyler is a powerful mob boss in the underbelly of London. He’s in love with Anna, who, with her best friend, owns a popular pub in London. Freddie and his brothers, who help with his businesses, are on top of the game, and it seems no one can stop them. To Freddie, family is everything, and he considers Anna part of his family – someone to be loved and protected no matter what. However, when Ben Hargreaves, one of the most powerful politicians in London, discovers that his daughter has disappeared from one of Freddie’s establishments, Freddie and his brothers are given an ultimatum to find her or Freddie and Anna will be murdered. Hargreaves has the help of a cop who has a grudge against Freddie, and will stop at nothing to put him away.

One of the best things about Tallon’s writing is the excellent way she has developed her characters. Even though Freddie and his family are mob, they are the “good guys” throughout the book, and it is hard for readers to imagine them as anything but upstanding. There are twists and turns that cause the suspense to build, and it is very difficult to put the book down. Most readers aren’t familiar with the London mob, so the characters and scenarios are quite believable. From another point of view, Dangerous Girl is a love story between Freddie and Anna; it adds another dimension to the story. Anna, is not mob-connected, and although she is aware of the fact that her boyfriend may engage in illegal activities, she is squeaky clean with both her life and her business.

Dangerous Girl is a race against time, and a search to find perpetrators who seem not to exist. As the time runs out, Freddie’s actions cause Anna to suspect problems and their relationship may be changed forever. A fascinating and fast-moving novel for anyone who loves a good thriller.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I read and reviewed Emma’s previous book called ‘Runaway Girl’ earlier this year. I absolutely blinking well loved it even if it did scare me slightly. As soon as I finished reading it, I immediately looked forward to reading Emma’s next book. Fortunately I didn’t have too long to wait as ‘Dangerous Girl’ was released on 22nd August. ‘Dangerous Girl’ is the second book in the series. As soon as I could get my hands on a copy, I eagerly began to read. Bloody hell what an amazing read it is. I absolutely loved it but more about that in a bit.
This book picks up the story a short while after the previous book finishes. Anna and Freddie have been together for three years. They are certainly opposites to each other but as the saying goes ‘opposites attract’ and they are certainly attracted to each other. Anna is in charge of the club but she does things by the book. Freddie is at the total opposite end of the scale. He is head of the clan and a much feared figure in the criminal world and beyond. Well he scared the doo doo out of me but then I am a bit of a (ok a big) wimp and it doesn’t take a lot to scare me. Freddie is what I would call a true ‘hard nut’. When he is doing business or dealing with anything to do with the business he keeps his emotions mostly in check but he shows his sensitive side when he is with his family.
Bloody, bloody hell this was one stonkingly brilliant book. I thought that ‘Runaway Girl’ was brilliant but ‘Dangerous Girl’ is even better. From the moment I picked this book up I was addicted to the author’s writing style, the storylines and the characters. I binge read this book in under 24 hours which is very good going for me. The more I got into the story, the more I read and the quicker the pages were turning. For me ‘Dangerous Girl’ is simply unputdownable. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because I took it everywhere with me and I begrudged having to put the book down, which didn’t go down well with my two Labradors. Oops. At one point the pages of the book were turning that quickly that it was almost as if the pages were turning themselves and before I knew what was happening I finished the book, which I was gutted about. I was enjoying everything about the book that I just wanted it to continue. My intention was to ration how much I read in one go but that intention soon flew out of the window because I was enjoying the book so much that I had to read on and on. I was desperate to know what fate had in store for the different characters and to see how this episode of the series finished.
This book was one hell of a rather scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride of a read with twists and turns aplenty. Things happened in the book which I was not expecting and which hit me in the gut rendering me breathless. At times I couldn’t believe what I had just read and I had to re-read certain paragraphs. There were moments where I almost had to read through my fingers because I genuinely feared what was going to happen next. I had to give my head a shake because I realised that if I had any hope of finding out what happened in the book then I had to read on. As I said at the start of my review, the criminal underworld scares the doo doo out of me so I am quite happy just reading about it.
In short this was one bloody brilliant book, which blows ‘Runaway Girl’ out of the water, as impossible as that sounds. This series is going to be one of those series that just keeps getting better and better. The tagline says that ‘Dangerous Girl’ is perfect for fans of Jessie Keane, Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers and Mandasue Heller and it most certainly is perfect. Emma Tallon deserves to go far and to be mentioned in the same breath as those brilliant writers. Emma Tallon is up there on my list of favourite and must read authors. ‘Dangerous Girl’ just has to be up there on my list of top 5 reads of 2018. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I didn't think it could get any better than Runaway Girl, the previous book in this series, but wow Emma Tallon has outdone herself again!! I read this book in a day on my holidays. Literally couldn't put it down. I loved all the action. And the twist at the end was brilliant! I definitely didn't see it coming. I can't wait for the next one. Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book. Highly recommend it.

I read Dangerous Girl as a standalone as I have not read Runaway Girl, the first in the series by Emma Tallon.
I entered into a world that I knew little about. Dangerous Girl was well written with believable characters. The plot was intense.
A sound crime novel.
