“A few times in life, someone comes along that changes the shape of your heart. You did that for me.”

I won't lie, I was a little thrown at first by the structure of Jodi Thomas' Mistletoe Miracles. Ms. Thomas is a new-to-me author, and I had (naïvely) expected three separate novellas, as opposed to three couples finding their HEA concurrently in one story. However, once I got over my surprise, I found myself increasingly sucked into this book.

Though I had a clear favorite of the three—Wyatt and Jamie absolutely stole the show for me—I enjoyed each of the tales, and the way they handled sensitive topics, new-formed relationships and, of course, Christmas. Not to mention, the early characterizations of our heroes—Griffin, Jaxson and Wyatt—set them apart from other book boyfriends. They skirted that line between charmingly gruff and just plain ol' grumpy, but with the skillful guidance of Ms. Thomas, all three of them gave this reader some much-needed swoon as they grew into their relationships.

Mistletoe Miracles made for a different kind of reading experience for me, and though I do wish each of the stories contained within had been rounded-up and wrapped-up a little tighter, ultimately, I closed this book full of Christmas cheer and all the hope that comes with the season. In this case, though, it was hope that this new-to-me will become a future fave as I read more of her books.

'I'll collect all the good memories and leave the broken ones on the floor. I'll think of how we began, how we pretended, how we laughed. I'll forget how it ended.'

After reading, reviewing, and loving MORNINGS ON MAIN back in April as part of the Lone Star blog tour for that novel's release, I was so excited for the opportunity to get my hands on this book as well. While this is the seventh book in the Ransom Canyon series, each story stands alone though connected by this rural and remote West Texas town rich with heritage.

Jodi has written another heartwarming, inspiring, and charming story that had me captivated from the opening page. I am looking forward to finding some time to read the series from the beginning to once again wrap myself in the welcoming arms of this genuine community.

Her ability to interweave the lives of three incredibly unlikely couples and the circumstances that bring them all together truly showcases her masterful storytelling. Her beautiful writing style lavishly painted this picturesque landscape and expertly wove such believable emotions into these characters, bringing them so vividly to life that I couldn't help but become invested in the outcome for each one. Multiple story lines crafted a cohesive story that was certainly filled with a relatable and likeable cast of complex characters. Though headstrong and independent, their good intentions and loneliness shape the bond they ultimately share, and what at first appears dichotomous and superficial gradually becomes grounded in a thoughtful exploration of family and new beginnings.

The romance aspects of the story are subtle in tone with an enjoyable tension that builds as each couple begins to acknowledge their feelings for one another. Their individual plights were quite emotional and often desperate, yet as love developed, the broken parts fit together perfectly with their partner.

Overall, the story's dash of suspense, family ties, quest for redemption, and holiday warmth has a little something for any reader to enjoy as they experience the magic of Christmas and first love all over again!

Three (soon to be) couples in three stories whose lives intersect in this small Texas town. Now by three stories I don't mean there are three separate books, but three different plots. I know when I first started reading this book I was a little confused but I quickly fell into the flow and loved each and every character. They all have their issues, but love helps them overcome and become better people.

I am not sure which one of these was my favorite because they all grabbed a piece of my heart in different ways. Jax, who was a victim of a fire and is leaving a hermit life until he sees a car crash close to his home. Sunlan, she has lived her life being sheltered or controlled by her parents and finds a way to escape that and be her own person, but at what cost? Wyatt, he has a tough life in the military but through a misunderstanding by the local sheriff finds that maybe life isn't meant to be lived alone. There are many other characters but this just highlights a few of them.

This book touched my heart, made me laugh, and even raised my protective instincts. It had everything I like to see in a book and enjoyed every moment in Crossroads.

Here are some of my favorite lines:

"Then you'd better come back soon. I'm not sure we speak the same language. Some guy in tight pants rushed down a while ago and asked me if I'd seen a sangria pillow. When I looked blank, he added real slow, 'Sangria-colored pillow.' I thought that was a drink, not a color. I told him I saw it riding off on a whiskey horse with a brandy mane toward a tequila sunset."

"A pool would sure be nicer than the pond. Last time I went for a swim I came up for air, and a cow licked my ear so hard I didn't get the snot out for a week."

I enjoyed this book very much! It was a wonderful story about people from a small town who faced difficult situations. It had action and romance. I did not want to put it down. Jodi Thomas is one of my favorite authors. I enjoy all of her books and often recommend her books to my patrons at the library

Mistletoe Miracles by Jodi Thomas is one of my favorite books by Jodi. Three stories are woven throughout the book and each one has all the feels. I continue to be amazed at how Jodi can capture my attention with such special characters to the point I do not want to put the book down.
Jax and Mallory - Jax witnesses Mallory’s car accident but cannot get to her before the ambulance takes her away. She was trying to escape her abusive boyfriend who had beaten her once again. Jax saves her dog and takes care of both of them until she is healed. The addition of Tim, Jax’s cousin the author, created some humorous scenes.

Griffin and Sunlan - Griffin is about to lose the land that has been in his family for centuries. He decides that he or one of his brothers needs to get married to a woman with money. He asks the women at the bed and breakfast to help him and his brothers. Before he knows it, they have found him the perfect woman to marry. Sunlan needs a husband and Griffin is a perfect match. The scenes with her and his brothers are hilarious.

Jamie and Wyatt - Through a small misunderstanding Wyatt ends up at Jamie’s house. They pretend to be married while he is on his two week leave from the service. Jodi created such special moments for them to be together.

sex - behind closed doors, before marriage
violence- Mallory is escaping an abusive relationship. what he did to her is disturbing,
language - 1 d2mn (4)
drug/alcohol - little to no drinking

Mistletoe Miracles by Jodi Thomas is a 2018 Sourcebooks Casablanca publication.

Three sensitive and heartwarming tales set in the appropriately named small Texas town of Crossroads, will leave you with a warm heart, and full of Christmas cheer-

Griffin is about to lose his ranch even after he’s done everything conceivable to save it. That ranch is in his blood, part of his identity, which prompts him to make a desperate decision. He’s decided that he, or one of his two brothers, will have to marry a wealthy woman. To that end, he seeks help from two older ladies in town, who, to his surprise almost immediately comes up with a woman who meets his specifications perfectly- and as it turns out- he meets her expectations, as well. But, of course, there is a catch- one Griffin hadn’t counted on.

Meanwhile, schoolteacher Jamie Johnson finally has a place of her own and is contented with her lake house, but to avoid unwanted advances from colleagues, she has invented a husband. Returning home from a school related trip, she is stunned to find a man in her home. But, once the initial shock wears off, Jamie and Wyatt decide to play house for a few weeks while he is on leave. Wyatt will be her ‘pretend’ husband, and Jamie would give Wyatt the sense of home he so desperately craves before heading back off into the danger zone.

And last, but not least, is the story of Jaxon Grady, a recluse living in an isolated cabin, battling a plethora of demons. But, when he rescues a severely injured dog, after witnessing a bad car crash, his lost and lonely life takes a turn for the better, all because he is able and willing to help someone out in a time of crisis.

Instead of three separate stories, told one at a time, the author allotted each thread an alternating chapter, which sort of threw me, at first. But, once I picked up the cadence, it was all good! Despite the format, the stories are not really linked in any way, except by location. However, each story is heartwarming, and sweet, and all hold the promise of a brighter future- and maybe even a happily ever after- or two- or three!

While this is a holiday themed novel, and certainly embodies the spirit of the season, this is the type of book one can read over and over, at any time of the year. It’s an uplifting collection of stories, inspirational too, at times, and is just an overall ‘feel good’ novel. The stories are ‘clean’, with only mild innuendo and adult themes, so everyone can enjoy this one. This would be an outstanding addition to your holiday reading selections this year - and for years to come. Highly recommend!!

A heartwarming story of three men and three women who find their road to love and happiness in very different ways. Three stories in one. Jodi Thomas has a way of making a reader understand her complex characters, why they are who they are and why they do what they do. Each has their own story, but she weaves them together and brings old friends back now and then, developing a story that holds the reader’s interest and makes a book hard to put down. Another winner for Jodi Thomas.

This was a great addition to this series. Three stories in one basically. I was hooked from the first page. A great holiday read.

I read hundreds of books each year, and there are a few authors who stand out from the crew, each for different reasons with their own style of writing. Jodi Thomas is a true storyteller. She has such a handle on the words, the ways to pull the readers into the tale, to build up characters that are easy to connect with and fall in love with, care for like they were your best friends. The vivid images she paints with her words draw the pictures so clear that they come to live in the reader's mind. I adore this series and Mistletoe Miracles, it was just as marvelous as the rest of the books, with three couples finding their destinies, love, and soulmates over the miraculous time of Christmas.
Each of these tales is unique. The lives the characters have lived have been challenging, their lone existence in a way satisfying yet the longing for a mate is there somewhere deep in their souls. Nothing comes easy, each couple has to face their own challenges, and with some, it is an instant connection under false pretenses, with other a marriage of convenience, and with the third, it takes a longer time to heal the wounds in their souls and bodies before they are ready for a new relationship. Yet in each story, there is the magical wonder of the holidays, where everything seems possible, and falling in love seems so natural.
The book is build so that each couple takes turns to tell their tale of falling in love. The intervals are clearly marked, and there is never a question who's story it is at the hand. With the intertwined tales, the interest, and intrigue of the romances allure, and I inhaled the book at once, smiling, sighing, swooning, and even tearing up several times because of the touching, compelling, nearly spellbinding way the stories unfold.
With the clean and sweet romance stories, this book is easy to recommend to all romance readers.
From heartbreak to dreams come true, from saving lives to risking them, from small-town charm to adorable four-legged friends, the book with its three couples and their stories covers life, loving, and living in a fluently flowing, brilliantly written, pleasing tale that delighted, captivated, and mesmerized all at the same time

While this is part of a series it reads like a stand alone. Previous characters are mentioned but not featured. This skips between three different sets of characters as they work their way to a HEA. If you took each one it is the size of a novella. Put together they make a book. Thomas has taken several familiar tropes and made interesting stories with their own unique flavor. I loved the Johnson's - the trope mistaken identity. The Holloway trope a marriage of convince. Last but not least Jaxon O’Grady is the wounded hero who is hiding out. Each set have their own problems and come to their HEA using their own solution. Great Christmas read.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

A small-town Texas Christmas story, where hearts are lost, love is found, and family always brings you back home.

Griffin Holloway is desperate: the Maverick Ranch has been in his family for generations, but lately, it’s a money pit. He’d sooner marry one of his horses than sell the ranch. Marriage, though, could be a solution. If he can woo a wealthy bride, he might save the ranch—just in time for Christmas.

Jaxon O’Grady likes his solitude just fine, thank you very much. But when a car accident brings the unexpected to his door, he realizes just how much one person can need another.

Crossroads is the perfect place for Jamie Johnson: avoiding nosy questions about why she’s single, she’s happy to keep to her lakeside home. So she’s baffled when she gets the strangest Christmas present of all, in the form of a Mr. Johnson, asleep on her sofa. Who is he, and why does everyone think he’s her husband?

In this uplifting novel, three unlikely couples discover just what Crossroads, Texas, can offer: romance, belonging, and plenty of Christmas spirit.

Griffin Holloway is desperate to find a wife. Not that he thinks he’s ready to get married but because he needs a rich wife to pay the mortgage on the ranch that has been in his family for 10 years. He goes to the two old ladies who run the local B & B for advice and they match him up with Sunlan Krown. She’s the daughter of a rancher in Texas and very rich. She agrees to marry Griff but with many stipulations.

Army Captain Wyatt Johnson is taking some time off between assignments. His girlfriend (who he wasn’t really attached to) got engaged while he was away and his parents were living their own lives. He just wants some place to call home to rest his weary body for a while. When he collapses from lack of sleep the local ranger takes him to Mrs. Johnson’s house. The ranger said that Mrs. Johnson had said that her husband wasn’t around much so him being in the Army would explain a lot. They put Wyatt into Jamie’s house and leave him there. Imagine Jamie’s surprise when she comes home after a weekend away with her drama students and finds a strange man in her place.

Jaxon is a man who is hurting on the inside. He was also physically hurt two years earlier but now he’s just emotionally scarred. He lives alone on a piece of land his family owns and likes the peace and solitude it provides. He is out walking one day when he witnesses a car accident. He runs to help but he’s pretty far away. By the time he’s gotten there the woman who was driving is being loaded into an ambulance. He starts to leave and hears a whimper. It’s a dog and he takes it and nurses it back to health. When he discovers that the dog belongs to the driver, and that she’s hiding from an abusive boyfriend, Jaxson volunteers to nurse her back to health as well, while hiding her from further danger.

Once again Jodi Thomas has given us a book with three stories that are all so good. Each one would have made a great novella but adding them together, and alternating chapters made it that much better. Two of the stories ended up being intertwined and that was a bonus as well.

I liked all three of these stories equally. I like Thomas’s books because for the most part there isn’t a ton of angst and I appreciate that. This book was like that and I really enjoyed reading it.

Mistletoe Miracles has multiple plotlines which only occasionally cross each other, due to location. In this one there are three MCs with their own stories that somewhat intersect. All are set in a small town of Crossroads in the Texas panhandle and will put you in the Christmas romance spirit.
Each story has a hero and heroine. Griffin’s Problem has Griffin terrified that he is going to lose his family ranch. He and his two brothers don’t want to lose the land that has been in their family for several generations. They decide that one or more of them must marry a rich woman who can marry a wealthy woman. The three bachelors are unaware of how to attract a woman, so they enlist the help of two older women who run a boarding house and are in tune to all the gossip for miles around. These elderly woman believe they know the perfect woman for Griffin because they know this woman needs to escape her family of a bullying father and neglectful mother. The love of horses binds Griffin and Sunlan. She sets some particular and pecular rules, which Griffin agrees to follow.
In the subplot Midnight Crossing the hermit Jaxon O’Grady is a former firefighter living in an isolated cabin on his family’s land. A woman crashes her car on a tight turn and while she is rescued by the county rescue squad Jax finds her dog and takes the badly injured animal home to try to save it. Then he tries to find the woman who owns the dog. There’s a lot of sneaking around in a hospital before he finds her and then he takes the woman home to recover.
The story of the Johnsons includes a teacher who invents a husband to keep men from hitting on her. When Captain Johnson wrecks his rental car while home on leave the sheriff takes him to her house, assuming he is the teacher’s husband. While the town assumes the couple has reunited the two Johnsons are left to carry on the fake marriage through the Captain’s leave in order to protect Jamie Johnson’s secret.
These are interesting characters and you can’t help but fall in love with all of them. A delightful read.

The feeling I got while reading Mistletoe Miracles is why I will read any book Jodi Thomas writes. I read the first few pages and was quickly drawn into the charming and warm novel. I smiled as the Holloways found the solution needed to save their ranch; as the local hermit was thrust into a situation that forced him out of his self-imposed shell; and as fiction turned into reality for the high school drama teacher. It's fun, emotional and even dramatic in a few parts. I enjoyed it all and recommend it to fans of Jodi Thomas, contemporary romance, and a good story. While Mistletoe Miracles is the seventh book in the Ransom Canyon series it can stand alone. A few supporting characters are back but a reader doesn't need to have met them before.

I always love Jodi Thomas’s books. She has a way of writing about interesting characters that makes the reader really care about them. Her books are about lonely, intriguing characters who often have given up hope or never had any hope of forming a permanent romantic relationship with someone. Her recent books have dealt with a small Texas town with the emblematic name of Crossroads and the relationships among the inhabitants of this town.

In this novel, she interweaves three unlikely couples who would probably never have met except for the strange circumstances that bring them together. And all six characters are strong, good-hearted, lonely people that you can’t help pulling for. When the book was over, I was disappointed because I just wanted to spend more time with these characters and all the minor characters to find out even more about how their lives are going to turn out.

I would buy any of Jodi Thomas’s books, but I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader copy from Netgalley which I voluntarily reviewed. I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Most of Jodi Thomas's books have multiple plot lines and Mistletoe Miracles is no exception. You have Griffin Holloway looking for a bride with money, so he can save his family's ranch.

Jaxon O'Grady is a recluse, living in the middle of nowhere, who witnesses a car accident one night. What happens after that slowly changes his life for the better.

Finally you have Jamie Johnson, a school teacher, who lies about being married to keep unwanted suitors at bay. Jamie comes home from a weekend field trip to find a Mr Johnson using her shower.

This novel offers friendship which turns to romance with some Christmas spirit thrown in. I throughly enjoyed this latest edition of MS Thomas Ransom Canyon series. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars. Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book.
