I found this book to be full of practical tips and interesting personal stories. However, it didn't have anything profound in it that differentiates it from other business books.

I always enjoy when an author that is trying to get you to work through your own inner monologue can share their stories and so many others. I found some of the real people she used in the story did not click with me, but the ones that did, man did they click in her book. It helped me see where my own inner monologue was actually my biggest barrier and provided tools to be able to build new monologue.

This book is part personal memoir, part case study and part interpretation of common popular neuroscience, leadership and psychology themes. The author presents a lot of very personal information (sometimes repeating it) about her challenges in her personal life and how she managed. These are interspersed with narratives from other women leaders about the lessons they have learned.

The primary lessons are to be present, practice self-care, ask for help, and learn to prioritize. Coaching and seeking mentors and peer learning opportunities are critical -- you can't do or know everything yourself. The writing style feels casual, personal and more like a series of blog postings that overlap in key themes and concepts. A quick read.
