Zach Bannister has had a crush on his best friend's sister, Laurel, for a long time. Laurel is now divorced after a disastrous marriage and has two small children. Zach is now ready to go after Laurel. It's hard for Laurel to accept help from anyone, even her friends and family. When Zach makes his feelings known, Laurel has a hard time accepting them and has a difficult time coming to terms with her on feelings as well. I enjoyed this story overall but I was frustrated with Laurel at times. Not knowing that this was part of a series. I will be checking out the first book in this series

Thank you netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I sadly was not a fan of this what-so-ever. I think things throughout were rather rushed, I understand that they'd known each other for a long period of time but honestly the continuity throughout was very off putting. A key example of this is where the characters are having a conversation, roughly half way through it they're suddenly at the car door. It made no sense.

Not only that, but the relationship, we didn't really see it develop and therefore I just wasn't connected to it in a way that I wanted to be. I felt that the story was predictable, when they found out Laurel was pregnant I said straight away that it would be with twins because of how she felt, and low and behold what did we get? TWINS!

Not to mention the over protectiveness of the brothers, he PUNCHED Zack because he'd presumed they slept with each other, in what world is that normal?

If this was a span of a few months we got;
- Sexual harassment in the work place but nothing was done about it because her boss didn't want her there
- A very sudden relationship
- Confessing of love
- Pregnant with twins
- An armed robbery
- An ex-husband who was not a very nice person (to say the least)
- The pressure of marriage and moving in... lets throw in a puppy as well!

OHHHH and the KIDS! Yep they were referred to as kids/children for however long, I honestly thought we weren't going to get any names for a period of time, but as soon as they get married they children call Zack dad.

Sadly it wasn't for me...

The second book of the Devil’s Rock at Whiskey River series is a story with a great plot and equal parts of wonderful and frustrating. Zach is a fabulous character and even though Laurel is his best friends sister, his attraction to this single mother is undeniable.

It was intriguing getting to know more about Travis’ sister and the stress involved in trying to raise a family with no one to lean on. Naturally, where there’s an ex there is destined to be drama, and an internal battle with letting go of the past. Overall this was a nice story with enough happening to make the reader want to come back for more.

Zack Bannister had hots for his best friend Travis’s (1st book) sister Laurel since high school. He knew she was off limits to him while in high school and he waited until he graduated from law school but she was already married. Now she is divorced, single mother raising two children. He knew Laurel single now but he didn’t know how to approach her.
Laurel didn’t want charity from her brothers. If she really needed them, she could ask for their help but she wants to stand on her own and raising her kids. She was really tight on money and she was not ready to ask for financial help from her brothers. While working as a waitress in a restaurant on Saturdays, one of the customer grabbed her behind and she threw a pitcher of water on his head and that got her fired. Now she needs to look for another job...
When Zack saw Laurel being harassed and fired from her job, he couldn’t just stand there and watch. This was a perfect opportunity for Zack help her. When he offered an accounting job for his business, Laurel was reluctant but she decided to take it.
Now they are seeing each other more often and it was perfect for Zack get closer to Laurel. Zack loves her children and he is total opposite of her ex-husband.
Laurel and Zack perfect for each other except Laurel has a hard time believing this could be more than a fling. Zack is trying to convince her he really loves her but his timing couldn’t be worse when she finds out she is pregnant... Now Laurel will need help but is confused if he really loves her or is he obligate to take care of her.

It was really sweet story of Zack and Laurel. Zack was perfect knight in shining armor. He was patient and loving from beginning to end. I enjoyed both series from this one.. I can’t wait to read the next one about Levi.
Thanks to netgalley and Tule Publishing for my ARC in exchange for honest review.

Excellent book, you can read it as a stand-alone or part of a series “Devils Rock at Whiskey River”. This would be book two in the series.
This book is well written and is a must read! This book touches on many real life issues and has a really well written ending!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Devil’s Rock at Whiskey River series. I also read the first book but didn’t realize until later that this book was in that series. I enjoyed the storyline tremendously. Zack was a super character and book boyfriend. Laurel was a little annoying at first when she wouldn’t commit to Zack. This was only before we knew all the things she endured with her ex husband. Then the reader was totally sympathetic with her not wanting to rush into marriage or her hesitancy to move in with Zack. Zack and Laurel’s two brothers have been good friends since they were little and we learn both Laurel and Zack have always had crushes and strong feelings for each other. I loved the suspenseful situations as well as the humor between the brothers and Laurel and the brothers and Zack. I am excited for the next book. I’m pleased to give this 5 amazing stars.

I love best friend of brother and little sister books. Maybe because I so badly wanted a brother for this reason. Zack (the brother's best friend) has had a crush on Laurel for years. Now, she is divorced with 2 little kids, he decides to make his move.

I love this type of story. There is always a pissed off brother and a sister fighting for her man. This was no exception. Cute story.

Zach has loved his best friend's sister Lauren since they were in high school, but never did anything because she was three years younger, and his best friend's sister. Years later, after she is divorced with two small children, he starts to work at asking her out. Overall, I enjoyed this one, and liked the characters. The kids are adorable, and her brothers made me laugh. The only thing that got tiresome was her taking so long to get over pushing him away. Still, would highly recommend this book, and it makes a great summer read.

I love friends to lovers story there actually one of my favorite kind of stories, but this one fell pretty flat for me.

No matter how hard i tried i couldn't feel any emotions for the characters because's they where just flat out boring.

Everything seem to rushed but yet i felt like the author could have took some stuff out

I very much buoyed Lauren and Zack’s story and am looking forward to Levi next. I could be wrong but I thought I sensed some foreshadowing of potential books for some characters who made brief appearances here too. Any number of times I wanted to grab Lauren and talk some sense into her. She really let her relationship with her ex-husband do a number on her and opening up and trusting Zack was almost impossible. Because the author gave us insight into her recognizing that she loved Zack but was holding back, we get where she is coming from. Without that insight she would have been incredibly frustrating so I am thankful for that. This was a sweet take on the best friend’s sister trope and a quick read in a quiet weekend.

This book was pretty good but not my favorite! This is Zach and Laurel book, Zach is a whiskey river businessman and Laurel is his best friends sister. They both had the hots for each other since they were very young but neither one thought the other had. Laurel was married to a jerk who left her and their two kids and a big mound of debt after being divorced for a couple years Zach makes his move! Like I said it was ok nothing great it was hot and moved on nicely but just blah. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

I really enjoyed getting a chance to read this book. Laurel is gorgeous and unattainable, making Zach fear taking the plunge at winning her heart. Once he finally sees an opportunity to express his feelings, things become increasingly complicated. Laurel's past makes things even more messy between the couple, leaving Zach feeling vulnerable and almost heart broken. The love story is sweet and it shows the power of love that can overcome just about anything.

I am reviewing this book after receiving an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was very impressed with the qualities of Zack’s character. He was a stand-up guy and was not afraid to let his feelings be known to Laurel and her brothers. Laurel on the other hand was really starting to tick me off. She went back and forth and messed with Zack’s heart. I was so frustrated with her indecisiveness that I almost didn’t finish the book.

I would love to see how the burglary might’ve tied into Laurel’s ex and the mess of criminals he was defending. I felt that the ending was rushed and could’ve been developed more.

This book is part of a series and I hope you are reading from the beginning, yes the author brings you up to date but you will get more if you start from the start. So we have Zack who has had a crush on Laurel for a long time now, but since she is Travis's sister (one of his best friends) he has never approached her and he feels that that needs to change he is tired of holding off and he had almost lost his chance since she is a divorced mother of two. He is going after her, even if he is going to piss off one of his best friends. Laurel has had a disastrous marriage, her husband ran off leaving her in debt and now she is working two jobs trying to make ends meet and giving the best that she can to her two children, yes she can rely on her brothers but she doesn't want that, she wants to be able to provide for them, I respected her for that and much more. She was surprised when Zack showed interest in her, he never has before and she is a little wary but you know what she needs some happiness too. Grab a copy my friends and Enjoy!

Zack is her best friends brother - she has always had a thing for him but he never noticed her when they were growing up. But that changes now when they are in a bar together after she gets sacked from her job. It is complicated - she is divorced with 2 young children and doesn't accept help from anyone easily, not even from her brothers who are always looking out for her.

Only book I have read in this series, but think it is fine to read as a standalone short novel.

Laurel and Zach both grew up in Whiskey River. In fact, Zach is Laurel’s brother’s best friend which prevented him from acknowledging his feelings fo her for years. He has finally asked her out, but knows that her first marriage was bad making her skittish. Their story is sweet and it’s a quick read, but it feels rather formulaic.
