After spending hours online, I found reading Crochet Animal Rugs like a sorbet for the mind. It is adorable! This super fun book features more than 20 crochet patterns for rugs and matching accessories. The giraffe security blanket is soooooo cute! Also includes a delightful cat, monkey, elephant, dinosaur, bear, and crab, each with a matching pillow and accessory, each as darling as the next. 5/5

Thanks to F + W Media and NetGalley for the ARC. Opinions are mine.

This book is AMAZING....the best crochet book I’ve come across so far. I’ve seen Ira’s crochet projects all over the internet and have been drooling over them! I’m so excited to finally try them. She is so talented and wonderfully creative.

The book contains easy-to-follow written patterns, along with charts - for anyone who struggles with written patterns. There are numerous illustrations, which I find very useful and she’s even included skill levels. She discusses techniques, stitches, left-handed crochet and so much more! I can’t praise this book enough.

Thank you to NetGalley, F+W Media and Ira Rott for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Me and my Crochet Hooks are going to be very busy over the next few months, Crochet Animal Rugs by
Ira Rott is Just Brilliant and a wonderful find. I have only been crocheting since last year and I have fallen in love with many of the projects in this book. They are all well Illustrated and most of them are a must for any child's bedroom etc. You can choose to crochet amazing animals from an elephant, Cuddly cat, Giraffe, Bear etc and coordinate it with pillows, blankets and accessories for any child's room.

I have place a sneaky order for Yarn for 2 rugs I will enjoy crocheting these for my nephews and nieces.
Hope the postman comes early and hubby doesn't see the big bag of lovely new yarn!

A must for a anyone who just loves to make things for your children, nieces and nephews etc or just for you.
I just love this book by Ira Rott and I know I will have fun making these.

Thank you to NetGalley and F+W Media for a DRC of this book.

Here’s my criteria for purchasing a craft book. Any craft – knitting, needlepoint, sewing or crocheting – there has to be at least three projects that appeal to me right off the bat. Now that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t consider doing other items in the craft book – it just signifies that those three items are immediately entered on my must make list. As with all crafty people I have a list. And an item moves up a notch on that list based on its cuteness, beauty and practicality function.
So I happily state that CROCHET ANIMAL RUGS by Ira Rott has definitely secured a place on my list.
CROCHET ANIMAL RUGS is a bit of a misnomer since Ira Rott includes several other types of animal based items for children’s rooms. In fact the author arranges these items in groups so if you are inclined you can actually make a set of lovely items featuring your child’s favorite animal for their room. And anything in CROCHET ANIMAL RUGS will make a fabulous gift.
So you are probably asking just which items made my trio of favorites. Well the Jeffery the Elephant Pillow & Rug, Giraffe Rug & Pillow and Chip the Monkey Pillow. That’s actually four but it was impossible to pare down.
The book instructions are in US terms but the author has provided UK terms so that you can easily do any of the stitch work. Several items are charted but text instructions are always provided for those that are not as proficient using illustrative charts. If you’ve never tried charts this would be a great time to try as some as the items in CROCHET ANIMAL RUGS are small to medium in size.
Instructions are well written and easy to follow and if you take peek at the end of the book there are several pictures of stitches in progress.
I haven’t actually seen the printed version of CROCHET ANIMAL RUGS by Ira Rott but it certainly would be right at home on my craft shelves.

Ira Rott's elephant rug became somewhat of an internet sensation amongst the crafting community. I was quite keen, therefore, to see what her first published book would be like and it is a real treat.
It has clear guidelines on the types of hook, yarn and pattern reading which have U.S/U.K measurements.
The patterns are available in the same characters so that you can make 3 things per design to style a nursery with. . All are animal themed items and are suitable for an adventurous beginner at crochet.
It's tremendous fun and will be sure to become a resource for heirloom crochet makers!

I've been crocheting for many years but had never tried making a rug. The patterns were clear and easy to follow while the end product is beautiful! Even a novice crafter can make something personal for their favorite people. Popular animals made easy...what more could you ask for?

This book was a wonderful surprise! My daughter is the one who loves to crochet and right after having read the book, she asked me to go online and look up the author. Turns out that the author has a website where I found the next patterns to fall in love with....
This book has quite a number of patters for really cute and loveable looking rugs and pillows and bags and...other things inside. The explanations and instructions are well done and easy to follow.
Apart from the patterns themselves, there are also very helpful general explanations and instructions on how to crochet and different sewing and crochet techniques involved.
All those projects are really sweet and will brighten a child's room and I am very positive that the kids will fall in love with them. Those rugs and the pillows and other things that go along with them are sweet and charming and also not too difficult to make.

In looking through this ebook, this seems to be a very clear, well thought out book of unique patterns. They're very detailed and well written, and I can't wait to try them out! The cat and giraffe are especially cute. My only issue is more one of formatting: there are no links in the table of contents to the patterns so you need to flip through, and some of the image formatting is off. But the actual contents of the book are excellent, with lots of pictures and thorough assembly instructions.

Ever since I discovered crochet last year, I've been on the look out for new ideas and patterns to try out. As soon as I saw the adorable rug and pillow on the cover of Crochet Animal Rugs, I just knew I had to know more about these patterns. And I have to say they are absolutely adorable. If you are looking for interesting and cute patterns to brighten up your child's bedroom or gift something adorable to someone else, you will be in for a treat. There are patterns for beginners as well as advanced crocheters, indicated accordingly. There is even advice for left-handed crocheters like myself, which is highly appreciated. This book uses US terminology, but there are useful conversion charts included if you need to convert to different terminology. In the back, stitches are explained clearly with pictures, helping you understand which is which. Also, the making of eyes and bows are explained separately as well as basic pillow shapes. That and other crochet techniques and other ideas of using the patterns. I love the idea of the wall decorations! My absolute favorite of the patterns is between the elephant rug and pillow, and I love the kitty cat placemat and rug as well. The crab security blanket is adorable and the dinosaur theme perfect for a little boy! There is definitely a lot to love in this crochet book.

I've been dying to make the elephant rug that's in this book for months now. It's literally the reason I started improving my crocheting skills. Finding a book that included it and it's matching accessory, as well as the many other rug/floormat patterns and their accessories was a total score.

And they are defiantly worth the hype! Not only is each pattern written out, but it's also charted, so it's available in whatever is best for you. There are also tips for those who crochet left handed.

Cannot wait to get started!

I really like Crochet Animal Rugs! The instructions are clear, and there are graphs provided for almost every single pattern. There's an excellent glossary and basic stitch instructions at the back for reference.

My only quibble is a minor one. I found it unusual that the book starts with the most complicated pattern and works its way back to the easier patterns. And there aren't really many "easier" patterns in the book at all -- most require some advanced skills.

Ira Rott has created some really adorable designs here, and I think the book would be worth the price for the Elephant patterns alone. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes to crochet sweet little animal designs. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Thank you to NetGalley and F+W Media for a DRC of this book.

I can see my crochet hooks will be put to good use in making some of these wonderful children's animal rugs and matching accessories.. I know my youngest grandson will love the Dinosaur and my youngest granddaughter, the Kitty Cat. I myself rather like the elephant. The instructions appear to be easy to follow. There are good general techniques, such as blocking and non-slip lining.

Unless it's my Kindle, there does appear to be some illustrations missing, especially at the beginning of the book. Could be the formatting, but the main thing was that there were enough illustrations to see what a particular rug looked like and all the instructions were absolutely fine.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review.
