An amazing final book in the Fawley triology! I was so happy that the publisher gave me access to this book as it’s not being released until March 2019, I had just finished reading In the Dark (another amazing book!). As always, Hunter’s writing is brilliant, with twists and turns all along the way that you could never see coming. I’m just gutted this is the last one of the series - I hope she writes more!

A gripping story about two children seemingly left alone in their home in a wealthy district, and someone committing arson, one son passed away, and the other rushed to hospital.
The fire and police services are soon on the scene, with the police sifting through evidence in attempts to discover the perpetrator, the prime suspect being the father.
The book starts off at a fast pace, detectives following trails, interviewing neighbours and colleagues, collecting much evidence to sift through. It adds depth to the story as details are given about the chief detective’s private life, making him a more rounded, human character. The rivalry between two main detectives and interaction, also increased my interest. On several occasions, we are taken back in time before the fire started, leading up to the crime, which adds depth and insight to the plot, making compelling reading.
The book has no defined chapters, the plot steadily gathering pace, but I felt that the news headlines and Twitter feed inserted at various stages detracted from the story, and became confusing. The story also introduces many characters, and several times I found myself flipping back through the pages to remember who certain characters were.
It’s an interesting plot with several flawed characters who could be guilty of committing the terrible crime, a compelling, graphic read which you don’t want to put down until you discover the perpetrator.

Great detective story. Keeps you guessing to the end. A family history impacts on present day. Really enjoyed it.

I’m a big fan of Cara Hunter and was really looking forward to the third instalment in the Adam Fawley series.

With a likeable lead, strong supporting characters and a plot that throws surprises and curve balls at you it keeps you turning the page. Hunter has a knack for a surprising ending which always catches me off guard.

As much as I enjoyed the book I do feel her first two are stronger. That said, I can’t wait for the next and will continue to spread the word about this series.

A family home has burned to the ground. The toddler is dead,, the ten year old is fighting for his life in intensive care, and both patents are missing. Is it a tragic case of Christmas decorations & neglect combining in a fatal accident, or something more sinister? Hunter keeps the reader guessing from first page to last, in this genuinely puzzling case. I tore through this book unable to put it down - the characters are all compelling and believable, with no cliched bad guys or saints. We move back and forward through time to see the case from before the tragedy as well as during the investigation. We also hear ot from the viewpoint of different characters. What could be potentially confusing is handled so smoothly that it enhances the plot and adds to the sense of urgency. I’m going straight to Amazon to find everything else she has written - I think I’ve found another crime writer worth following!

cannot praise this author enough. I’ve been lucky to review all 3 books and I have bought the first one for Christmas gifts. This is the 3rd book in the series. You could read as standalone but you’d be missing out on the first 2 which were fantastic. I’m not a huge fan of detective books but this is totally different and probably because it’s so well written. The author is just excellent and I like the characters stories running through the books. The stories are brilliant. Seriously read all 3 but beware you’ll be gutted as you have to wait for book 4.

I loved this book! I’d previously tried to read the first two books in the DI Fawley series, but they didn’t hold my attention in the same way this one did! Full of twists and turns all the way through and keeps you guessing as to “Who Done It”

I do feel that the ending was slightly rushed though, almost as though Cara Hunter was running out of time and had to tie things up quickly, however the journey to that point was exhilarating!

This is a really good read. Who started the house fire that caused so much grief? There are plenty of twists in this plot and it all comes together in a great ending. I was immersed in this book from the start. I felt so sorry for the victims of the fire and wanted to know who the perpetrator was. This is the third book in this series. I hope there are more to come.

Excellent storyline, the book starts with a fire in a large house in Oxford where two children are found, the youngest is unfortunaly dead but the other is still alive, he it taken to the John Radcliffe hospital where he eventually succumbs to his injuries. The Fire Brigade are still investigating the fire when a third body is found which is the mother. The police are looking for the father as it was thought he was in London at a conference but he then becomes the prime suspect as the case unfolds. Eventually after about a week has passed a fourth body is found in the house which is believed to be the father, who is identified by the brother by a signet ring. Lots of twists and turns along the way and some great investigating by the team who eventually crack the case.

Oh My! I was absolutely hooked from the beginning of this just-so-intriguing book. The way it has been written; plunging the reader into a live-feed of the fire-fighters tackling an horrific house conflagration, moving on to police procedures with DI Fowley and his team, interspersed with fire, police and forensic reports, as well as newspaper reports and social-media comments was, at times, both harrowing and shocking, but absolutely brilliantly executed. Following closely the investigations I couldn't possibly have guessed the full extent of the masterful twists, turns and red-herrings which the author had woven into the story. Very clever.
Gripping from beginning to end. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I haven't had the pleasure of reading the author's previous books - yet, but fully intend to.

Wow another amazing Title by Cara Hunter, keep them coming. DI Fawley is back, with his own problems, and a very disturbing case to solve. Twist and turns galore. The story unfolds into a brilliant. Suprises, tension, excitement. All make for another master peice of story telling..

More bumping and twisting for the reader than a Helter Skelter ride! This is Cara Hunter’s third novel in the DI Adam Fawley series of novels and it doesn’t disappoint.
Remaining consistent with the format of her previous novels, Hunter’s writing weaves back and forth between a first and third person narrative. The main story is interjected with mixed forms of police report transcripts, social media, news and forensic reports.
The central mystery surrounds the devastating aftermath of a house fire; there are some harrowing events involving the family’s young children and DI Fawley and his team investigate the events leading up to the fire. Hunter uses engaging flashbacks of the days leading up to the incident and the reader is able to shadow the lives of the central victims and their journey, gaining insight into the events leading up to the tragedy. As always, Hunter enjoys a good twist in the tale and this third novel fails to disappoint upon its conclusion.

Like the other DI Fawley books, this had me hooked from the beginning.

Enjoyed getting to hear more about the team & their background stories.

This was good old fashioned policework with a twist or two to keep you enthralled.

I can highly recommend this book. It is the third in a series of DI Cawley thrillers, but the first that I read, but I never felt that to be a problem. I imagine that I may have had more understanding of the character of the lead detective, but I still enjoyed the story.
It starts out with details of a fire in a house in Oxford in the days after Christmas. It becomes clear that the fire was started deliberately, but it is not clear who has died or what the motive could be. The author moves between the investigation into the fire and events in the house in the previous month's. Interspersed between these intertwined narratives we also get the local news reports into the fire, alongside the online comments on the story. This seemed very realistic, with the mood changing as more information is revealed, and the predictable trolling and jumping to conclusions. It really helped the story along.
There is also the ongoing story of the police teams and their private lives reflecting on the events. This may be where a greater understanding of the background from the other books would have been useful, but it wasn't too difficult to pick up the main points.
My emotions were really given a workout as the story unfolded, and I got right to the end before I was sure who had been killed, and what the killer's motive had been. The family who lived in the house were Michael, a lecturer at the university, his wife, who appears to have been a devoted housewife and mother, and their two sons, aged 10 and 3. As we learn more about the family, we start to suspect different people of having a motive. It was really skillfully done, so that as the fire investigation uncovers the layers of debris, a picture is revealed of the family dynamics..
I found myself waking up wondering about who could have wanted the family dead. I was involved on an emotional level with the wife and her struggle with post natal depression: could she have been driven to kill? There was a forceful discussion between the detectives to about the difference between post natal depression and post natal psychosis, which was very helpful. Different suspects emerged with varying motives, but I didn't come close to solving the mystery.
I will now be looking out for the previous two books because this is an author whose work I have thoroughly enjoyed.

I was really excited to get No Way Out because I'd already read In The Dark which was brilliant. Cara's story-telling is addictive, as are the characters she brings back in this very twisty-turny tale. I'm becoming very fond of D I Adam Fawley, Gis, Somers, Ev, and even the somewhat annoying Quinn. I also love the fact the stories are based in Oxford, a place I'm very familiar with. This time the story is harrowing; a fire that kills a family and first thought to be an accident is anything but, but D I Fawley and his crew get on to the case, and along with their own personal stories which are cleverly intertwined with the main event, it makes for a cracking read which I couldn't put down. The only downside was the layout which found a little confusing. Some of the dialogue tags were next to each other and there were gaps in the text, but this didn't put me off and the ending was cleverly hidden. Looking forward to reading Close to Home and anything else Cara Hunter writes.

I absolutely loved the first 2 Cara Hunter books, this book written was very similar to the first. I found it difficult to keep track of who was who as it jumped from person to person and past to present, tho i did enjoy the book id of like a bit more in the last chapter, I felt your constantly having to assume what's happening as there isn't enough information.

This was a gripping and exciting read and I really enjoyed the character development especially of the main character, Ridpath. I thoroughly enjoyed the "behind the scenes" story of his personal and professional life. It made him very real and very human. The crime was heinous and I was desperate for Ridpath to find the perpetrator and the author built both the anticipation and the suspense really well. I enjoyed the unusual slant of Ridpath being assigned to the coroners department, it made an interesting change to the usual crime novel. I would definitely read the next in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I was able to read it when on holiday which meant I could read good chunks of the story at a time. I felt that the story was well constructed and multifaceted without being confusing. It is a dark and scary story tackling aspects of dangerous aspects of modern life for young girls today. However, the characters are believable and real.
I feel that it is a fast paced story. The conclusion of the case is surprising (as well as horrifying!)and the conclusions of the human interest threads add to the enjoyment without being predictable

No Way Out is a well plotted intricate thriller.
2 young brothers are discovered in their house after a suspected arson attack, one is already dead the other critical, later the body of their mother is discovered in the remains of the house, but no sign of the father.
Gradually we start to learn all manner of things about this family as DI Farley and his detective team start looking for the father. Although a dark tale this is a very satisfying story that unfolds with a few red herrings and some unexpected twists in the tale.
My only niggle would be the insertions of newspaper reports and social media comments, for me these prevented the story from flowing though the emails between the police and pathologist were useful.
A really good engrossing read, an ending I didn't see coming.

Oh this book was fantastic. I finished it a couple of weeks ago and still find myself thinking back to it. So suspenseful, how did a family come to be trapped in their house when it was deliberately set on fire. The stuff of nightmares but so well written. Cara Hunter has become one of my favourite authors this year - I am now eagerly anticipating when she can get her next book out.

I loved being back in the company of Di Fawley, Gislington & Quinn. A team that you can actually imagine existing.
