I do love a good crime series so having read the first two DI Fawley books I jumped into this one with barely a glance at the blurb. I like the way the author includes online news reports and readers comments making it feel very current and real. I was all over the place here with my theories of who did what and why. I’ll claim a partial success here for working out one of the red herrings but I was still surprised by the outcome. I particularly liked the ending and look forward to book 4 in due course.

I loved this book. The plotline was just sublime to me. It hooked me, it teased me it shocked me and best of all its ending was just perfect. It takes an horrific event of fire that kills a family and takes us on the journey to find the reasons why. In some cases you have to look closely at the victims in order to understand how they come to be those victims. This is such a case and the team must delve deep into the background of those involved to resolve the crime. The author gives you just glimpses of the graphic scenes that greet the team as the debris of the fire is cleared away, that is all you need to build up pictures in your mind. The author keeps the plotline flowing smoothly in a way that keeps you eager to keep up the developments and reluctant to put it down. As more and more pieces of the puzzling case are revealed a picture builds of the background to the crime. This picture is amazingly detailed by the author, you just know once it complete it will be breath-taking. This book gives you the wow factor ending you never knew it had hiding within its pages.

Loved this book, the story kept me on tenterhooks. Like the format of the story, the going back and forward of the storyteller made for an interesting and gripping tale. The writer took the reader on a very pacey journey with twists and turns at every page. Would recommend this book.

This was a very tricky police procedural, murder story. It really kept me concentrated the whole way through. Great characters and a very intense storyline. . I manged to guess the outcome before the end, just!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and loved the ending.

Once again this author has created a cracking read. This is the third in the series as we follow DI Adam Fawley and his team.
When a fire breaks out in a house two young children are brought out. Sadly one is dead and the other is in a very bad way. There seems to be no sign of the parents. Can DI Fawley and his team piece together the events of just what went on that night.
I thought I knew who was responsible for the fire but there were so many twists and turns I was completely wrong. It was also brilliant learning more about Adam and his team. It's certainly a page turner and one I have no hesitation in recommending. It gets a full five stars from me.

I received an ARC of this book, so there were some paragraphs missing in places, which will hopefully be fixed before publication.

However, that didn't detract from what was a wonderfully complex tale of arson, child murder and family intrigue. Having read other books in this series, I was really looking forward to what came next and Cara Hunter didn't disappoint. She managed to deliver a real kick in the gut ending which I'm not ashamed to admit made me cry - I really didn't see it coming at all and while there are hints throughout the text if you know where to look, I still don't think it would have been possible to guess.

An excellent series continues to excel!

No Way Out is the third novel in the D I Fawley series and is the second book I have read by this author. The novel is structured around past and present timelines that gradually converge to reveal how events of the past led to the devastating house fire. This starts with more recent events but as D I Fawley and his team dig deeper the timeline delves further into the past to reveal shocking twists and turns. Nothing is as it first seems, and this is one of those clever all-consuming stories where seemingly inconsequential happenings turn out to be essential to the story's climax.

The story has a dual narrative. The investigation itself, as well as events of the past, are in third person (mostly limited with some omniscience); but Fawley himself is narrated in first person. The sub-plot centres around Fawley’s private life and ties in with the overall theme of family, children, love and loss. Switching narrative point of view for Fawley works really well. There are a lot of strong characters in the book, and using first person for Fawley brings the reader in much closer to him as the protagonist.

This is a well-written and fast-paced story where shocking plot twists and unreliable characters make this yet another gripping and heart-wrenching read. Cara Hunter is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and I can’t wait for her next book!

A large house in Oxford has been destroyed by fire but DI Fawley and his team are called in when the bodies of two children are found - a dead toddler and his barely alive elder brother.  Social media is outraged that the two children were left alone, until the body of the mother is found.  Suspicion focuses on the missing father but surely this is too easy a solution?

This book falls just a little short of being fantastic.  There is a little too much convenience in the plotting and an unsatisfactory ending, particularly the final scenes with Fawley and his wife, fail to convince.  However it is a strong police procedural and Hunter has a talent for producing interesting and gripping tales.

Cara Hunter has done it again with No Way Out. This is the third in the DI Adam Fawley series. Once again, a fascinating case that is different from the prior two. There are great characters and excellent plot twists. Told from multiple perspectives, it is hard not to be pulled in. Highly recommended to readers who enjoy police procedurals. Cara Hunter is an author to watch out for!

I loved the twists this book took and the way the story was told from different perspectives. I found it very addictive, I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read more from this author. Highly recommended. Five stars from me.

This is a fast paced and intricate book told from different perspectives, the present day and also a countdown to the fire. DI Fawley and his team are sent to the remnants of a burnt house where two children are pulled out, one deceased and the other rushed straight into intensive care but where are the parents and how did the fire start?. I loved the way which the story unfolds as the layers are peeled back, you also get more details of DI Fawleys team and an insight into their private lives this for me just added to the intensity of the book. You don't need to have read the others in the series to enjoy this book although I am now intending to read the others as I enjoyed this very much.

Fast paced and totally enthralling once again. This series of books just gets better and better and stands head and shoulders above so many in the genre. Reads like one of the best tv thrillers and would love to see this and its predecessors translated to the small screen. Crime fiction at its very best - can't wait for the next instalment.

This is book three of the series and, although the main story is self contained, to get the best from the series characters re backstory and development, I would really recommend you start from book one and read in order. Especially as this book contains the fallout from what Quinn's shenanigans in book two, as well as Adam's ongoing personal issues.
So, we start at the scene of a fire with the first responders going in. The fire has been burning a while so it is not wholly accessible but they do find the bodies of two children; one alive and one dead. On first look it is ruled suspicious, almost certainly arson but who and why and, more importantly, where are the parents? Enter DI Adam Fawley and his team to investigate. And so begins a rather complex investigation, fraught with more questions than answers, and the answers they do get just seem to throw up more questions. And secrets, and lies and more than a healthy dollop of suspicious behaviour. Can they cut through all the noise to get to the bottom of things and solve this most heinous of crimes?
I love the way these books are set out. The author uses transcripts, reports and media articles to "dump" information on the reader in a very unique and interesting way. Whilst some may think it would distract, chopping and changing as it does, I find it gets a lot of key things across in a short succinct way which progresses the story well for me. We also see what happened to the family in the days running up to the fire. These snippets are perfectly placed to add colour and background to what is happening in the present day investigation and and injected in just the right moments. Obviously this information is only imparted to the reader, the investigators having to play catch-up later.
I also like it that the author revisits people and places from previous investigations. Here, for one example, we go back to Daisy's school (from book one). I find that this adds to the credibility as, not only as she created series characters, they live and work in a series world. It brings me closer to the whole experience and makes for a better read.
The plot was intricately woven with all the usual twists, turns and dead ends you'd expect from the genre but all executed so skillfully that, along with Fawley and his team, I floundered for the majority of the book, having given up second guessing quite early on.
All in all, a cracking addition to an already excellent series. Roll on book four! My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

An excellent read. The structure of the book adds suspense and makes you want to read on. There are so many twists and the plot keeps you guessing right to the end. Highly recommended if you like police books.

‘No Way Out’ is the third book by Cara Hunter in the DI Adam Fawley series. It is however a standalone book and you don’t need to have read the other two to follow this crime story. Reading the series in order simply gives you a bit more insight into the characters of the detectives.
I loved the first two books and this third one does not disappoint either.
It had me hooked from the start and every time I thought I’d figured out what had happened a new twist completely threw me.
A lovely ending as well for the fans of DI Fawley, can’t wait for book number 4!
