This was set in what could be our near future or a hundred years in the future. Humans have evolved in to Superhumans - or at least, some have. Others have become superhumans through the development of recreational drugs. We follow someone who's taken the latter - 'Rage' as the police chase him. This was the first book in a series, and I must say I will be following for the later books in the series. One thing I did find irritating is when a character said a few words in Spanish it was then translated in brackets - I didn't think this was necessary. I will be following for the next installments.

Ed Perez rolled out a fast-paced action packed storyline that transported me to the streets of Los Angeles sometime in the far future. As expected, I was greeted with new breakthroughs in technology. One of the most significant I found belonged to our beloved automobile. Some things in our world will never be replaced; in my opinion, that's one of them.

I enjoyed learning about the newly released Glide car. What made this car so special was its ability to hover three feet above ground on a propulsion system designed with anti-magnetic jets. That's a mouthful. What's more, it moved with superior stealth, and if that's not enough to turn your head, it's driverless. Simply program a location where you'd like to go and it would safely take you there. It sounded like the car of my dreams, especially, if it had the look and feel of my Mustang.

The human race had not changed significantly in the coming future with the exception of most of society being chipped. This procedure follows along the same lines as what's done today with our precious dogs and cats, some of them anyway - woof.

Its program was initiated to allow chippies (my term) to buy everyday commodities and more easily find suitable employment than their non-chipped counterparts. For the time being, it's a voluntary program and apt to change, compliments of government intervention.

Not everyone was in favor of sacrificing their personal identification just to be part of the norm. As a result, that brought us to an element of society that refused to be chipped - the rebels. They were not of the mainstream and were looked down upon by many of the chippies. We really hadn't changed.

A tragedy had awaited us in the years to come. The introduction of a new recreational drug found its way into the black market. Miraculously, it delivered the uncanny ability to provide superhuman strength and supernatural powers. It was the equivalent of ecstasy on steroids. There was a catch. It came with a steep price, users became quickly addicted. Over time, their body's paid the ultimate price and deteriorated with continued use. It sounded all so familiar.

There was one user in particular who became an exception to this rule - Rage. The name was most fitting. He had become a menace to society and needed to be stopped. Wherever he went a trail of bodies were left behind. Taking him down had proven to be easier said than done though an unexpected twist was headed his way.

I offer my thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
