I was excited to read this book because my grandma lives nearby Manistique. This book had some funny lines and some good dialogue. The problem was that the drama was minimal and this book was too real life. It made it just a little boring. All the coincidences between Mark and Em were so neat and tidy which leads to boring. I sadly really don't recommend this book.

I thought that this book would be much better than it actually turned out to be. I like the quirkiness of the characters passing through. However, I feel that the book moved slowly and I lost interest easily. I wasn't rushing to finish the story to see how it ended, Instead, I found myself having to force myself to finish reading the book.

I think this is the funniest book I have read. Totally unpredictable, great characters. I really enjoyed this book and the characters along with the dry humor. This is a new author to me and look forward to reading more.

Not my typical genre but every now and again I switch off to read a feel good book. This book definitely fits. Even though I’ve never been to Michigan this book gave me a perfect picture of it. The characters were quirky. This story can been written as a series because one never knows who will be checking in. Definitely would read this author again.

This book was really well written and conceptualized. It just felt cozy and familiar -- in a totally good way. The characters were true to life in remarkable circumstances. How would I react if I found out I owned a B&B and guests were arriving?? Yikes. The twists and turns kept coming, but without a sense of peril that keeps you from just enjoying the characters. Strange to say, I know, given some of the events in the book, but it is the way I felt. I've never been to the UP but have been to Mackinaw Island and have stood at the base of the bridge's southern end. It is a beautiful area up there, with kind people, unique food, and nature. Mr. Cuesta really captured that feel in his book, and I have scheduled a return trip for next summer because of this book. What a wonderful read.

What an easy, delightful way to spend a few hours! The plot was engaging, the characters were realistic and sympathetic and the action was straight forward. It was one of those books where you felt you were crawling inside the skin of the protagonists. It was easy to identify with them. I also loved reading about a part of the country I know nothing about – Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The fact that the Big Reveal was easily anticipated did not, in any way, detract from the enjoyment of the read.

Quite frankly, I wish there were more books like this one: good people doing good things and helping one another traverse the mazes of life. I loved it and I hope our author, Dennis Cuesta, will write more!

This book did not grab me, in fact it took me a a couple days to get through the first few chapters, but I kept reading.
I think it was around chapter 7 when I realized I was totally invested in this book. I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but I fell in love with the characters, I loved the banter between the two protagonists Mark and Emily. Oftentimes they made me smile.

Generally I enjoy books that have a huge twist, or a Gothic mystery, or takes place in fantastical worlds. This had none of that, it was just a story about two people whose lives cross paths when they both find themselves stuck in a small town. But I could not stop reading. I knew nothing HUGE was going to happen but I was interested to read the mundane details about their day. Who they saw, where they had their coffee.

This book was definitely a surprise.

Sometimes fate brings something to you that you would not have chosen for yourself. This happened with this book. I mainly am reading romance or women's fiction now, since I want happy stories and not the sadness and struggles of normal life. I was pre-approved for the Advanced Reader's Copy of this book. I accepted since the description was very interesting to me. What a great decision that was!

I cannot believe that this is the first book published by this author, Dennis Cuesta. It is written excellently! The plot flows so smoothly. The characters are so well developed that I miss them now that I am finished with the book.

I love stories with quirky towns and characters with imperfections, which makes them more believable to me. I also believe in fate and destiny and in this book's plot that belief ties the characters together.

Mark and Emily might never have met if not for Mark's aunt Vivian passing away and willing all of her estate to Mark. They both travel to Manistique for different reasons and in the end find much more than they ever would have dreamed.

This book was so engrossing. I was immediately taken into the story and read at every opportunity I could until I reached its end. As with a great story, I am now sad that the story is over.

I ran through so many emotions along with the characters. I was laughing then close to heartbreak, and then laughing again. It is definitely an entertaining story.

I also find myself learning new things with a great book. I never knew that some places offer assistance for people that have a fear of crossing bridges. A person will actually come to you at the foot of the bridge and drive you across! How neat is that! It was part of this book and I was intrigued and looked it up. Yes, it is an actual program of assistance.

Stuck in Manistique is just plain fun! The characters are a hoot and the story is amusing. It made me think about just what is family and how a chance meeting can turn into a deep friendship or a romantic forever. It made me think of the mistakes people make along the paths of their lives and how the way they deal with those mistake is what defines them as a person. I really like these characters. Hopefully there will be a sequel...Still Stuck in Manistique sounds good to me!

A madcap and funny little story that had me glued to my kindle. This story is made up of mostly dialogue and the characters really get into your head. The author has a flair for creating interesting characters.

Although there were plenty of clues sprinkled throughout the book and and it was a little predictable, I was not expecting the ending.

This is a story that shows that, despite our flaws, there is a hero in each one of us.

The place was interesting. The characters were interesting. But, the story didn't seem to go anywhere. There also wasn't really much of an ending.

There are only a handful of male authors whose works of fiction I've enjoyed but I really did enjoy reading Stuck in Manistique. This is the story of Mark, who's just inherited his aunt's bed and breakfast in Manistique, Michigan. He knows nothing about running a B&B and very little about his now-deceased aunt. However, he has his first unexpected customer after Emily hits a deer and needs a place to stay until her car is repaired. Both Emily and Mark try to work through issues that they are going through as more people arrive at the B&B. Mark learns the joy and pain of small town life while Emily makes some life-changing decisions. All the while, the laughs ensue. A fun book that is not predictable. Not only that but it's clean and entertaining.

This was such a good book! I like plots centered around small towns and this plot was spot on. Small town, northern Michigan, characters, secrets. . . it's all there! Very engaging and well written. I didn't want to put it down. I would absolutely read another book by this author.

This is the story of Mark and Emily, who find themselves in the tiny community of Manistique by unexpected, but entirely different, events. Some might say their meeting was serendipitous, others might say that as this book progresses, the theory of “Six Degrees of Separation” becomes more than just a theory. Early in the novel, however, one discovers that this is not just a story of the coming together of two lives.
I did enjoy this book, although I had to pick it up several times before I finally settled in to read. I didn’t actually clue in to the fact that the first “non-chapter” was actually a prologue until I reached Chapter 2! A lot of characters pop in and out of this story. We get just a glimpse of their lives as they walk through the pages, but I wasn’t able to really make a solid connection to them. In the end, the most real character to me was Vivian. I would have liked to get to know some of the fascinating characters in greater depth, but with so many secondary characters, sometimes space just does not allow this.
There is much to enjoy about this story. Without giving away spoilers, I felt absolutely drawn into Mark’s phobia. I felt his fear. The descriptions of local scenery were very well done. I was often surprised at how the storyline progressed. I saw humour and kindness, and definitely was left with a vivid picture of life in a small town. I have no idea into what genre I would slot Stuck in Manistique. It’s a story quite different from any I have read before, with an ending that fits perfectly with the story.

As a lifelong troll (Michigander south of the bridge), I enjoy escaping to the UP every summer. This book caught the experience of the area perfectly, from the description of the scenery and small towns to the laid back attitudes of the yoopers. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was a good read, with characters you couldn’t help but to cheer on, sometimes give a good shake to, and mostly care about. There were several parts to the story that intertwined into an interesting and entertaining story. I loved the addition of comic relief at times with some of the characters and what was happening to them.....I had several laugh out loud moments as I was reading. But there were also those times where I was pulled into compassion for situations. So — I definitely felt it was worth my time to read about Mark, who inherits his aunt’s bed and breakfast; Emily who is on the verge of making a very costly mistake at the same time she is trying to get her medical career started; and the cast of characters who make up the town of Manistique and visitors who find themselves at the Manistique Victorian for what is usually an eventful stay. I can say for sure that I would recommend this book to those readers who want to go along for a joyride with the characters in the book. I guess my one criticism would be that I would probably have liked the ending to be a little bit different...and don’t want to comment any further to create a spoiler.
