Wrangler's Rescue is the seventh and final installment in the Montana Cahill series and I for one am sorry to see it end. Only having read four of the seven books in the series, I've missed some of the books along the way but I hope to rectify that soon. The books I've missed have all been added to my always growing TBR pile!

Wrangler's Rescue had us reuniting with the Cahills and their spouses along with others who are like family and also Harp, the deputy who always seems to be in hot water. The story is a romantic suspense and had dark undertones and was filled with sorrow since Cyrus, who went to buy a bull in Denver, turns up going overboard on a cruise ship after he supposedly gets married. His family knows nothing about any of it and don't like his wife, Juliette, at all when she contacts them. When A.J, the bartender at the Stagecoach Saloon owned by Cyrus' brother and sister, has a gut feeling something's not right, the others sit up and take notice especially when she says she feels he's still alive. She and Cyrus were getting closer just before he had to take the trip to Denver. To say she's devastated is an understatement.

The story takes many twists and turns in Montana and the Caribbean but also in Arizona and Miami where Juliette is being looked at for crimes as she's known as a black widow with many marriages and almost as many dead husbands. There are crimes being committed, violence and injuries and Juliette seems to almost always be at the center of things. AJ's feelings take her all over the Caribbean trying to find out what really happened to Cyrus and if he's in fact still alive. She's wary and doesn't know who she can trust. She has the support of Cyrus' family, especially his brother, Flint, who is the sheriff of their small town. There are vivid descriptions in all the locales that made me feel that I was there. The characters have a lot of layers to them and we get to know them a little at a time and things look more sinister the more we find out. There is nice closure after many near death experiences and a happily-ever-after in the offing.

Ms. Daniels writes wonderful books set in the west and I look forward to reading more of her books.

I wasn’t familiar with BJ Daniels before reading Wrangler’s Rescue but I enjoy books about cowboys so I decided I’d give it a try. One thing I love in romance is a bit of romantic suspense. I don’t read it nearly enough, so when I do, it normally pulls me write into the story and keeps me turning the pages late into the night. Wrangler’s Rescue was no exception.

Ok, so I was obviously at a bit of disadvantage when it came to this book because I’ve yet to read the previous Montana Cahill books, and I do think that would have helped me to enjoy the story a little more. I normally don’t read books out of order, but made an exception for this one since there was no way I’d have time to read the other six. However, I still know a good book when it comes down the line, and this was definitely one of them.

The basic plot of the story is that Cyrus Cahill has gone missing, and everyone believes him to be dead except for Ashley Jo “AJ” Somerfield. Even as a reader, I had my doubts as to whether he would be found alive, but AJ never once doubted her interval instincts. BJ Daniels takes the reader through a series of twists and turns, and kept me guessing until the very end. I was enthralled with this story, and couldn’t put it down. I had to know what happened, despite needing to sleep in order to function the next day. It’s a sign of a truly good writer when he or she can keep their readers up most of the night flipping the pages of their books. BJ Daniels is no exception.

Wrangler’s Rescue was a great introduction to the world of BJ Daniels, and I’m excited to dive into the other books in the Montana Cahill series and see what I’ve been missing out on. Her writing is strong, I enjoyed her characters, and I loved her use of romantic suspense. It wasn’t so far fetched that you couldn’t see it happening in real life, and I enjoyed know that the plot didn’t feel contrived. Her pacing was excellent, keeping me on the edge of my seat for most of the journey.

I want to thank TLC Book Tours for giving me the opportunity to read and review Wrangler’s Rescue!

WRANGLER'S RESCUE – B.J. Daniels
The Montana Cahills , Book 7
HQN
ISBN: 978-1-335-55676-9
November 2018
Contemporary Romance

Gilt Edge, Montana – Present Day

Ashley Jo “AJ” Somerfield has been in love with rancher Cyrus Cahill for a while, but he's never looked her way. That is, until one day when he takes her on a horse ride at his ranch and kisses her, with promises that once he returns from his Denver bull buying trip they will see where things go between them. But Cyrus doesn't return from Denver, and then AJ and Cyrus's family receive the bad news that he's presumed dead after falling off a cruise ship in the Caribbean while on his honeymoon with a woman no one ever heard of! In her heart, AJ doesn't believe that Cyrus is dead and makes plans to go down there to investigate and talk to the local police. Then, his “widow” arrives in town, ready to claim her share of Cyrus's estate.

Cyrus's family and AJ soon learn that the alleged widow, Juliette, is a suspect in at least two “Black Widow” cases. Is Cyrus her latest victim? How Cyrus met and married Juliette is suspicious, to say the least, and AJ is even more determined to find him. Is there any way he survived a fall into the ocean? After going from island to island, she finally finds him, but he has amnesia and doesn't know who he is and is suspicious of outsiders. Can AJ win his trust and help him to remember?

B.J. Daniels provides another suspenseful story with WRANGLER'S RESCUE, her final tale in The Montana Cahills series. AJ had come to Gilt Edge to check out the birth mother of her best friend, but ended up staying after liking the area…and Cyrus. He is kind of shy and they have built a quiet friendship that she hopes one day would turn into something more. She is hopeful after he kisses her and anxiously awaits his return from his business trip, only to learn that he was now “dead” after he married another woman. Juliette is definitely a woman who appears unscrupulous. All she wants is a large settlement from the Cahill family. Since paying Juliette off means selling the family ranch, they try to stall her. Who will win the battle of money?

Meanwhile, after AJ finds Cyrus on a Caribbean island, she bides her time by staying at the resort where he lives and works. Slowly she builds his trust until finally she is able to tell him who he is. After they realize that someone is determined to make sure Cyrus is dead, they quickly leave their island paradise to return home. Juliette, meanwhile, has remained in Gilt Edge, determined to sit it out in order to claim her inheritance. It turns out she has two co-conspirators. Once Cyrus is back, will he remember what happened? However, in WRANGLER'S RESCUE, the return of Cyrus starts in motion a series of terrifying and suspenseful actions. Cyrus—and now AJ—appear to be the targets. Will the truth be learned before someone kills them?

WRANGLER'S RESCUE is filled with tense scenes as the mystery of why Cyrus married Juliette is slowly revealed. There are several attempts on both Cyrus and AJ's lives that amp up the drama. Readers know that Cyrus and AJ are in love but everything that has happened is keeping them apart. Will they find a way to achieve a happily-ever-after? Will he finally get Juliette out of his life? Find out in the intriguing and suspenseful WRANGLER'S RESCUE.

I thought I knew what to expect from this seventh and final book in B.J. Daniels' Montana Cahills series, but there was no way I could possibly have expected this novel, which was completely different than any other book in this series, and I was awake for hours last night trying to figure out what to say about it that wouldn't give away too much of the surprises and suspense that await you in this novel, which gets 4-1/2 stars from this reader.

Wrangler's Rescue is the story of Cyrus Cahill, and AJ, who has loved him from afar, and, when he asks her to join him for a horseback ride, she comes within a hairs' breath of getting her first kiss from him, until his horse jostle's him and they nearly fall off the ridge they're standing on, and that's about as much romance as you're going to get for some time. When they return to the ranch, Cyrus is tasked with going to Denver to pay for a new bull that the Cahill's are buying and he promises to be back home on Saturday to enjoy Billie Dee's special Texas style chicken and dumplings, his favorite, but Cyrus isn't back on Saturday, and soon, his brother, Sheriff Flint Cahill, gets a phone call from the police commissioner on St. Augusta, an island in the Caribbean, and he's calling to tell Flint that Cyrus is missing and presumed dead after falling overboard on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, and then sends evidence--a photo of Cyrus in a tuxedo, with his arm around a beautiful blonde woman, at what appears to be their shipboard wedding. How he ended up on a cruise ship when he was supposed to be in Denver is a mystery to all who love him, and totally out of character for Cyrus.

When Flint gives the sad news to the rest of the family, and AJ, no one can believe it, and that's especially true of AJ. How Cyrus could have gone from almost kissing her, to going to Denver, to getting on a cruise ship, which couldn't possibly have been in Denver, to marrying a total stranger, only to fall overboard on his wedding night and drown, is something so far-fetched that AJ simply cannot accept it. Cyrus does look either drunk or drugged in the wedding photo, and everyone knows that Cyrus isn't a drinker, and he certainly doesn't do drugs, and AJ has a gut-feeling that Cyrus is still alive, that something is very wrong with the story they've been told, and she decides to head for Denver, try to pick up his trail, and then heads to the Caribbean to try to find him, hopefully alive.

Unlike the other novels in this series, most of this novel doesn't take place in Gilt Edge, Montana, or on the Cahill ranch there. Most of this incredibly suspenseful novel takes place in the Caribbean, as AJ pursues the truth of what happened to Cyrus. While back in Gilt Edge, Juliette, the blonde in the wedding photo, who claims to have married Cyrus after they fell in love at first sight in a Denver hotel bar, and suddenly decided to take a cruise, got married by the captain aboard the ship, and she's now there there to collect her inheritance, the 1.5 million dollars that is what Cyrus' share of the Cahill ranch is worth. To say that something is very wrong in Gilt Edge, Montana is putting it mildly.

What follows is one wild ride as AJ begins her search among the islands for the man she loves, while back in Gilt Edge, Juliette, rather than searching for her husband's body or his remains, can't seem to get her hands on his death certificate quickly enough, both to prove her outlandish story and so that she can get her hands on a piece of the Cahill ranch, and there are are enough plot twists and complications along the way both in Gilt Edge and in the Caribbean, that it was almost impossible not to skim ahead to see what happens, but I did resist the temptation, because this novel was such a thrill ride that I didn't want to miss a minute of this complex and utterly entertaining romantic suspense novel.

I will warn you that this novel is rather light on the romance and heavy on the suspense, and the lack of romance is the reason I gave it 4.5 stars rather than 5, but it all made for one heck of an exciting read from beginning to the HEA ending, and what a way to end a series! If you've not read all the previous novels in this series, I wouldn't worry overmuch. Wrangler's Rescue works just fine as a standalone, although you'll lose some of the inter-connections between the characters who've all been featured in the previous novels, but don't miss this one--it's that good.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

WOW!! Grab yourself of this suspense filled mystery is my advice to you - I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the seventh book in this series and has references to events in earlier stories but I think it would still work well as a standalone read, even though it may well tempt you to check out the earlier books, too!

Cyrus Cahill is the quiet, shy brother, the one who thinks everything through, reviews his options and takes his time before making any decisions or moves. Imagine the surprise then when his family are informed that he's fallen from a cruise ship where he was on honeymoon with his new wife! Cyrus had told AJ that he'd be home from his trip to buy a bull for the ranch on Saturday. She can't believe he'd willingly marry someone he'd just met or that he'd take off on a cruise! She's sure something is wrong and is determine to find out what has happened to the man she loves . . . . and so this suspense filled adventure begins!

This is a fast paced mystery, with murders, suspense and a fantastic family in a brilliant suspense-filled read. The characters are well developed, the plot has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing, there's dramatic action and more in this brilliant novel. I found it a real page turner that I didn't want to put down until I'd finished it so have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys intriguing romantic supsense.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Wrangler's Rescue is the last book in the Montana Cahills series. This is AJ and Cyrus's story. Cyrus leaves for a buying trip for the ranch. AJ is anxiously awaiting his return to finally get that kiss she has been wanting from him. They receive news that Cyrus suddenly got married on a cruise ship and has fallen overboard. Not one to give up, AJ sets out to the Caribbean to find out what really happened.

This held up fairly well as a stand alone. I hadn't read the book that came before this one, but I didn't feel like I missed much. This one more focuses on Cyrus and AJ with the rest of the family in the background. The mystery was enjoyable. I was eager to find out why Cyrus would up and marry a woman he just met. It really went against his nature. I was definitely not expecting that explanation I got. The search for the truth puts AJ's life in danger. I liked her determination not to give up on her love for Cyrus. I don't want to give anything away, but the ending was a satisfying one and wrapped up the series nicely.

Today I will be sharing my thoughts on Wrangler's Rescue by BJ Daniels, which happens the first time I'm trying her books. When I was offered a chance to read this book, I was excited. First off, I have heard of her, and she was suggested to me to checked out when I was in Montana. I never did get a chance, but this was always in the back of my mind. We moved to Oklahoma, still have read her, but decided to try Wrangler's Rescue. The story can be read as a standalone, but I feel this story would be better read in order.

Wrangler's Rescue was pretty good read. We have Cyrus Cahill about ready to make his declaration of love to Ashley Jo "AJ" Somerfield. However, he has to leave on a business trip. Things take a turn and he ends up dead, and now he has a widow. Yet, AJ smells something fishy, and she's willing to take a chance to find whats going on with Cyrus.

Oh man the twist and turns this story takes along the way are fantastic. I felt the need to keep reading, because I needed to know what in the world made Cyrus marry some nobody. It was interesting and mildly suspenseful. Overall, Wrangler's Rescue was a pretty awesome read.

One of my favorite series has come to and end. I was introduced to B. J. Daniel's Cahill series when I signed up to review the first book, Renegade's Pride, and while I am not a huge fan of romance novels, that one intrigued me because it was so much more than a love story. Over several months, I read and reviewed 4 of the 7-book-series featuring this Montana family and saw them fall in love, solve crimes and rekindle relationships with erstwhile family members. So while I anticipated seeing the last of the siblings find their own fairytale romance and read about all the loose ends of the family drama being resolved, this final novel is a bitter sweet ending.
Cyrus is the last of the Cahill siblings to find love and this time, he seems to have finally found but lost it just as quickly. Having stirred the interest of the lawyer-turned-meddling-bartender, AJ, Cyrus then leaves home for a business trip but turns up married and/or dead, maybe both. But despite not having shared even a kiss, AJ is sure that if Cyrus was dead, she would "know" it and she takes off for the Caribbean to hunt down the man she loves, and bring him home, dead or alive.
In this page turner, the author gives us cowboys, love at first sight, unrequited love, alcoholism, adoption, family drama, con artists and maybe even a murder mystery to solve. I devoured the entire book in one cold fall afternoon, sitting in the Amazon bookstore cafe and reading on my phone. B.J. Daniels writes romantic suspense well and her characters have all come through so vividly, I feel I can visualize Ely, the father of the Cahill siblings, finally coming down out of the mountains and becoming the patriarch the family no longer needs but so desires, as he helps them cope with the tragedy in an unconventional way. And having met each of the adult siblings in a previous book, it was a treat to revisit characters I followed closely in earlier installments and to see the progress of their relationships as they navigate their own brand of happily-ever-after. While Daniels introduces controversial themes in her writing, including but limited to complicated love triangles and manipulative relationships, she is excellent and bringing to life sympathetic characters that will have you rooting for them, even when they don't do what you wish they would. I found the plot to be well conceived so that the characters strengths were utilized in multiple places and it all came together to achieve a masterful work.
Don’t miss this suspenseful conclusion of The Montana Cahills series from New York Times bestselling author B.J. Daniels.

Wrangler's Rescue by B.J. Daniels is a new twist to Cowboy romance novels. It feels more like a romantic suspense then a cowboy tale. Hot Cowboy in distress plus, a determined woman who won't accept the fact that he's dead made for an interesting read. I was surprised with the plot. There were many twists and turns. Keeping me guessing all the way through, B.J. Daniels created a mysterious journey. A disappearance, a call about a supposedly dead man, and a strange woman married to the said dead/missing man...had me for a loop. I couldn't figure it out. I liked how I couldn't figure out the story before it ended. However, it felt a little too much mystery and not enough action/romance. Otherwise, it was a good read.

I've been reading the Cahill series for quite some time. Was this my favorite? No not really. Did I read this in one sitting while staying up to 3AM? Absolutely. We don't get much of Cyrus in this one so the focus is mostly on AJ who is incredibly emotional for most of it though has gorgeous moments of toughness. The suspense angle was a bit over the top and some of the story lines bordered on soap opera. However, Daniels keeps the pace going at such a perfect rate that I became completely lost in the story. While AJ's frequent high emotions annoyed me at times I did grow to like her and her determination to find Cyrus. I also liked seeing a bit more of the Cahills. There's not so many mentions that it'd be confusing if you're new to the series but it was nice to check in with them and I especially enjoyed seeing Billie Dee's storyline resolve. This was a fun escapist read with characters that I've really come to love. It strains believability more than a little but if you can get past that I think you'll really enjoy this one.

Oh, those Cahills, they are always stepping in something, they certainly seem to liven up their small rural community. This time the entire family is forced to deal with a ripping good mystery when informed by the authorities that the painfully shy and quiet Cyrus was suddenly married, missing, and presumed dead while nearly halfway across the globe. Wow, and all in one weekend. Cyrus had unwittingly tangled with a seductive sociopath/black widow. Juliette went through husbands like I go through wine. This treacherous beauty had quite the scheme and was a tenacious villain. The intriguing storylines were active, eventful, and well-crafted while the writing was engaging, occasionally steamy, and hard to put down. Ms. Daniels has been a recent discovery for me but I relish her lovably quirky yet flawed characters and clever yet easy to follow and witty tales.

It was bad enough finding out that Cyrus spontaneously got married but that he also fell off a cruises ship and lost at sea when he was supposed to be getting a bull had left AJ feeling the need to do something. She refuses to believe he's dead and now its clear that his wife is a gold digger could she have something to do with his death. AJ will stop at nothing to find Cyrus because in her heart she knows he's alive.

I loved the strength and determination AJ had. She was a pretty amazing character. When she wants something and if it has to do with those she loves she will stop at nothing. Shes not the type of women who would just take a simple answer and that's it she'll do what she feels is right. I loved that she was also a fighter because its clear something is up and shell do what she has to do to stay alive and protect other. I just loved her fiercely protective nature. To be honest it was pretty refreshing getting this from a female character where its usually the females that stand aside and are supposed to be strong but don't back up what is being told and this character was pretty amazing. I loved that there was so much going on in this book that'll keep the readers hooked. Just read this book if you can your not gonna want to miss this or any of the other books to this series.

The Cahills are usually in Montana so when Flint gets a call that his brother has fallen off a cruise ship and drowned it is one big surprise. I have to give B.J. Daniels credit she once again finds a way to put a new spin on a western romance. This has it all. There is tension and danger as the story unwinds. What seemed to be impossible does turn out to have events that expand what seems to be the unexplainable. Great job with the last Cahill brother getting his HEA.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

B.J. Daniels saved the best for last in The Montana Cahills Series. The story of AJ and Cyrus is a mystery, suspense and a wonderful true love story and I loved it. It was so tough not to peek and read other reviews to see where the plot was heading, but I'm so glad I didn't. I'm not going to give up the plot either, I am only going to say it's a good one.

Cyrus Cahill and Ashley Jo “AJ” Somerfield have an attraction, but Cyrus is a thoughtful man, not given to impulsive actions and he is taking his sweet time making a move on AJ. After an almost first kiss, Cyrus leaves for Denver on a business trip and promises AJ he will be back on Saturday for Ruby Dee's chicken and dumplings, and her. When Saturday rolls around, no Cyrus, instead his brother, Sherriff Flint Cahill, gets a call informing him that Cyrus is missing and presumed dead.

What follows is a nightmare for the family and especially AJ. She won't believe and doesn't accept what they have been told, not only that Cyrus is dead, but the circumstances that lead to his death. She is determined to find him and bring him home to Gilt Edge, even when everyone else has given up hope.

This is the seventh book in the Montana Cahill series. I'm really enjoying this series and I was looking forward to reading Cryus' story. Very suspense filled romance. Fast paced and hard to put down. Recommended!

I was looking forward to Cyrus's story but I didn't enjoy it as much as the others. Perhaps it was because I like my Heroes to be more Alpha and this one, clearly was not. I don't mean they need to be assholes or jerks, but more confident and powerful - which this Hero certainly was not. Now the heroine? Her I liked and it is clear that she is the one who wears the pants in the family. I liked that she never gave up on him! For this reason, I could not get into the story.

Lost Lake is book 3 in the series. I have not read the first two but I am definitely going to get them. I enjoyed this book very much. It held my interest from the beginning to the end. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Wow! What an exciting, action packed book! I loved the mystery, the intrigue, the HEA....I don't think there was anything that I didn't like in this book! AJ's belief that Cyrus was still alive, and risking her life to try and find him is the most touching thing and totally something I would do. I didn't realize this was the end of the series, now I need to get the rest of the series and read the beginning of it!

This was a very good suspenseful book. The man character falls off a cruise ship and is presumed to be dead. His girlfriend still believes he is alive and goes on a search for him. It was so good I did not want to put it down.
