I think this book was great for me as a beginner just wanted to learn more about mindfulness. I like the take on bringing Buddism to a more western audience. It's so common nowadays to want more with less and this book is a great start for those of us who are just getting into our spirituality and bringing that into our day-to-day. I enjoyed the read and it did ignite the want for me to learn more.

This one is difficult to review.

1) Most of the basic Buddhist teachings were covered in the book.
2) There was nothing great about the way these teachings were covered, no unique way of explaining things, no wise metaphors, nothing.
3) There was an excessive focus on meditation practice and nothing on other ways to practice.

Honestly, it wasn't a bad book. I was just expecting more from this one.

I got a free copy from Netgalley.

For me, this book would have been much better if the chapter on How To Meditate was much closer to the beginning than at the very end. All the way through, the author kept talking about all The difficulties we face in our lives (like attachments, ego, lack of balance, rushing around, etc)... and he would say that the answer to each thing is to meditate. But if you don’t know how to meditate, that’s not very helpful!

The theoretical part of the book were fairly easy to grasp, but more stories to illustrate the concepts would have been appreciated.

With gratitude to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
