Wow this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I just didn't want it to end. I just couldn't get enough of these wonderful characters and I just loved getting to see their journey. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.

Every now and then I don't pay attention and pick up a book well into a series. It usually doesn't work well for me because I've simply missed too much back story. I'm glad to say, this wasn't the case with Drakon Unchained. N.J. Walters does a great job of working in the history the read needs without recited the previous books, adding too much or not enough detail. I never felt lost or overwhelmed. I did think the other stories would likely be interesting to go back and read.

I didn't know what to think of Luther initially. He's a hulk of a man, brooding and not entirely pleasant. That is until he realizes how attracted he is to Victoria. Through his relationship with her, we see the sweet, attentive side of Luther. Their shared nocturnal, inexplicable connection escalates their attraction quickly even as they struggle to understand.

Victoria has had to deal with too much in her life. Her "gift" has made her an outcast, unwanted by everyone around her whom she makes highly uncomfortable. She doesn't dare tell anyone about the drakon who befriended her as a child. She's taken a highly dangerous job in the hopes of saving the one being who's every showed her kindness. Is Luther a help to or detraction from her goal? Dare she find out?

Walters creates highly imaginative, intense situations the kept my rapt intention as I tried to find out what happens to the characters, both the ones I cared about and the loathsome ones. The roller coaster action just keeps taking the reader for a ride even after the first big hurdle is overcome.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Walters. I recommend it for all fans of paranormal romance especially if they like a lot of intense action.

Victoria met a Drakon when she was a child and has visions but no one believed her. She's been looking for him her entire life because she has visions when she dreams and knows that he's being held captive somewhere. She took a job with some scary people because she knows that they can lead her to Sergei so she can help him escape somehow.

Luther has his own reasons for working for Temple, he's also looking for Sergei but for personal reasons and doesn't know what to think of Victoria other than to know that he's very much attracted to her but he just doesn't have time for a relationship at this time.

Watching these two characters get to know one another, get closer and trust each other with their secrets was so much fun.

Temple needs to find someone with a Drakon because the one that he had got loose and now he's aging again. So he reaches out to another guy that he knows has been keeping a Drakon captive for a long time and they meet for a meeting. Both Victoria and Luther have to trust each other if they are going to free Sergei but Luther is keeping a few secrets that could make things interesting.

Drakon's are the offspring of dragons and humans. Dragons came to Earth around four thousand years ago and had offspring with human women. The offspring are called Drakon's. They can shift into dragons, fly, are stronger than humans, live a very long time and if a human ingests their blood, they live longer and it cures any ailments they have. So there are bad humans that capture and hold captive these Drakon's so they can use them for their blood.

I've been really enjoying this series so far and plan on reading more as they are released. And I loved that some of the other Drakon's from previous books make an appearance in this one. It's always nice to catch up with familiar characters. This book is filled with suspense, action, romance and dragons (drakon's). It was great.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Victoria Marshall is living a lie. She works for a member of the Knights of the Dragon, a secret society that traps and uses dragons for their own gain. As a child, she made an unlikely friend—a drakon. He went missing, and she’s spent the past twenty years searching for him. The only thing distracting her from her mission is Luther Henderson, her boss’s new head of security.

Luther is also living a lie. One, if discovered, could lead to a fate worse than death. He’s attracted to Victoria, but can’t fully trust her, doesn’t know if she’s truly innocent or a true member of the Knights. It’s not only his life at stake, but those of the people he loves.

I really liked this book. It is the first book I read from the author and her characters are wonderfully complex and her world-building is superb. The romance between Victoria and Luther was very authentic. I really felt like it was a true relationship and not just two characters colliding. I enjoyed that the author showed both characters with strengths and weakness and that the relationship developed at a good pace without being over-dramatic. .The only down side is that because I started with this book I felt like I didn't get the full effect of the relationships. I plan on fixing that and reading all of the books in the series. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a solid book with strong characters, intrigue, and a strong plot.

I received this as an arc from Netgalley. My opinions are my own.

This is a book I had trouble setting down. When it was finished I wanted another chapter. Or two. Victoria and Luther's story was thrilling. The ins and outs of their duplicity is so well written. Such a joy to read. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and freely leave this honest review.

This was a pretty good story. I liked both of the main characters and the secondary characters that were introduced. The issue I had was with the author’s writing. She kept bringing up certain things that I didn’t think were necessary, as if she thought the reader wouldn’t remember them. It annoyed me so much by the end that I was skimming some of the pages just to finish and dropped my stars from a 4 star book to a 3 star.

Drakon Unchained is the fifth book in NJ Walter’s superb Drakon’s Blood series, and like its predecessors, it doesn’t disappoint.
As always, this author’s writing just flows with the story and characters developing together in a seamless way. This makes it a joy to read as you can just become absorbed in the story and be carried away.

Victoria and Luther’s relationship starts with them as wary allies. Neither 100% sure they can trust each other, but both having the same ultimate goal: to free imprisoned dragon that befriended Victoria as a child. Sergei (the imprisoned dragon) has appeared in an earlier book as a flash view, at that stage, I knew nothing about him, but I hoped he’d finally get his freedom. So I was really happy to learn that book five would be about his rescue. Victoria and Luther must overcome their distrust to work together to free Sergei.
This is a fast-paced story, although the first few chapters are quite dense with plot and world building which slows it down a little, but persevere it soon picks up and leaves you on the edge of your seat!

This book could be read as a standalone. I started this series at book four, Drakon’s Past and I didn’t have trouble following the story. But then I went back and started the series from the beginning and it led to a much richer experience. In all honesty, I would recommend reading at least book one Drakon’s Promise first, it gives a much better introduction to the Drakon world and allows you to then concentrate on the story rather than trying to work out who is who and what is what.

I really enjoyed Drakon Unchained, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the next book!

What a read.. I love dragons and this take on them was something else.

I loved the characters, the solid original plot and unique writing style. I was hooked from start to finish. That opening... wow,, just wow. That opening gripped at my heart, it made the story and set the stage.

All throughout, there was a high intensity tone, and it help with the danger that our MC's where in. I loved the romance, the action and the ending!

I can't tell you enough how much I enjoyed this book, the only way is for you to get it and read it. So please take my super high recommendation and stamp of approval that you will not only fall for this read, but you will be addicted.

Happy Reading!

Great quick read. I didn’t realize at first this was part of a series. Even though I haven’t read any other books from this series, I could easily understand the over arching series story. I liked he main female character and Luther. Always welcome strong characters. That being said the whole Uber alpha man theme could have been toned down more which would have made it a stronger story. I’m really liking the Oscar character and want to see him more. I would recommend this series even based on a single book.

I am a huge fan of dragon shifters and this fantastic Blood of the Drakon series is one of my favorites!

In Drakon Unchained, we get an inside view of the inner-workings of the Knights of the Dragon through Victoria and Luther's roles and neither are what they are perceived. And they’re something more to each other than either of them realizes.

I loved the developing romance between Victoria and Luther. Loved that they just couldn't stay away from the other--that there was this draw that had to be answered and acknowledged. And when they finally got together, wowza, the sparks were a flying!

Drakon Unchained is a delicious balance between romance and romantic suspense. I loved watching the romance unfold as they fought for what was right against so many who were in their way to their happily ever after.

I’m hoping for more in this excellent series. There are so many possibilities with these Drakons and their loves!

NJ Walters never fails to delight and Drakon Unchained is excellent. Solid plot with paranormal elements. LOved it

Victoria has long had to hide her true self from others. No-one believed her when she said she had a dragon for a friend. They definitely didn't believe her when she said that something bad had happened to him.

She has dedicated her life to searching for her friend and she even took a job working for a slimeball, knowing that he was somehow involved. Knights of the Dragon sound like they'd be a dragons best friend but she knows that whatever they are doing it's not dragon friendly!

Drakons have been hiding in plain sight from their human counterparts for eons. There are merciless humans, the so called Knights, who want to abuse the Drakon for their own ends. Luther has been playing a dangerous long game of espionage. He is searching for his father all the while hiding his drakon self from the odious Herman Temple, whilst acting as his new head of security.

He should not be attracted to the little toads personal assistant but she may just given him an in to the inner sanctum. But when he and Victoria share some rather intimate "dreams" and he claims a kiss from her in real life, well she is his and this Drakon does not want his mate to come to any harm.

As they decide to work together for their own aims, they get sucked further into the black hole that is the Knights. They may even need some rescuing themselves before their story concludes.

Nic and Tarrant make another appearance and lend a hand (talon?) when it's needed. I love Victoria. She has a real sense of right and wrong and even though she takes a job with the bad guys, her mission is to save "her" dragon. Luthor is all kinds of complex and I loved the whole wanting Victoria closer, but pushing her away at the same time. Typical man doesn't know if he's coming or going LOL. The passion could scorch and you will no doubt have a giggle or too as well!

This was amazing. I had never read NJ walters before and will definitely going back to read more in this series. You do not need the previous books to read this one in the series.

Victoria is strong, loyal and stubborn. She went to work for Temple to save a friend she met at a time when most needed in her life. Now she is thrust into the world of the Knights of the Dragon and the Dragon Guard while trying to save herself, fall in love and save a friend while bringing a family back together. A great overall character you fall in love with for her strength and compassion. Her and Luther together was amazeballs.

Luther is strong and on a mission. He is a great guy but has put himself in danger to save his family. He is wondering who he can trust and who is on his side. His nature is one that needs to be kept from others due to the Knights of the Dragon and their greed and selfishness. Luther is determined though and will do what he must to get the resolution he needs and desires. What he didn’ t expect was to find his mate. A feisty strong willed caring woman in Victoria who intrigues him from the moment they meet. Their story intertwines nicely into the one about the Knights and both their missions. I love how they can’t fight the attraction and slowly open up. How they learn to trust and are scared of their feelings but don’ t run from them.

I love how they had others willing to help them like Oscar, Nic and Tarrant. I enjoyed how Ms. Walters slowly revealed the secrets of the Drakon and their woman. How she gave us slow reveals Luther, Oscar, and Victoria.

The story is enthralling and draws you in from the beginning and doesn’ t let you go. Even when it ends you want more and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Victoria Marshall has spent her entire life alone. Her one bright spot in memory was meeting her drakon friend in the forest outside of her orphanage. When one day her friend didn't show up she knew something terrible had happened to him. With her gift years later she was able to find the organization that took him. Working for the enemy isn't safe for her, but Victoria doesn't have anyone who cares about her enough to miss her, until Luther.

Luther is also working undercover trying to bring down the organization that has taken so much from him. He never expected to find an ally, especially not one like Victoria.

While the two don't trust each other at first, Victoria's gift keeps bringing them together. Now it's up to both of them to take the leap and trust each other so they can not only find love but Victoria's friend as well.

Drakon Unchained was phenomenal. I enjoyed this story from start to finish. I will definitely be picking up the rest of this series very soon. I liked how I could pick up this story and immediately be immersed into the whole story. Fantastic read.

This was a great book. The story reads fast and the tension between the characters is awesome.
Victoria made a special friend when she was a child. Now an adult she will do everything she can to save this friend. Even if it means teaming up with people she is not sure she can trust.

Drakon Unchained continues the saga of the Drakon, a half dragon half human creature that is being hunted by a secret society.

All the heroines in this series have some sort of supernatural talent. Victoria can 'dream walk' and see people's past and present. She met a Drakon when she was a child and she knows now that he is being kept against his will. She takes a job as the assistant to the head of the secret society seeking these Drakons. In her position she meets the head of security, Luther. He isn't there because he believes in the mission of the secret society either. However, they don't realize they can trust each other.

I liked that the drakon wasn't the hero of this story. You are introduced to this captive drakon and his mate in the first chapter of the book. That was a different take from the previous books and I enjoyed that. The plot does have action and suspense, but I felt it took too long to get there. Victoria and Luther are both fascinating characters who have their own unique reasons for seeking a specific Drakon. This book does seem to, in many ways, start a new chapter for the drakons. Normally, starting in the middle of a series is ill advised, but it kind of works in this case. You can pick up this book without having read the previous books and not feel that something is missing. I think the world that Walters has created is interesting and unique, which creates a positive reading experience for fans of PNR looking for something fresh. I'm looking forward to seeing where Walters takes this series; I was afraid it was over after book 4 (since that was kind of the end of the 4 brothers' stories) so I am glad to see she is continuing!
