While marketed to women, this book has good advice for men too. It is written in a chatty, conversational style that is both encouraging and challenging. David Bach encourages readers to put their money where their values are, to take stock of where they are, to work at getting rich in small increments, and to teach their children about finances. He gives a basic overview on investing and talks about how taxes figure into everything. He encourages readers to not only save money and invest, but also to make more money--to ask for the raise, to leave jobs that don't pay well. If you don't have a financial plan for your life and know little about investing, this book is a good place to start. Grade: B+

This was my first book by David Bach. I was very impressed. I plan to read "Smart Couple Firnsh First" next. The book is very thorough and easy to understand.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

Another one of those 'save a penny, be a millionaire (on / before retirement)' advisory books. Commonsense rules.

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC.

An updated classic that should be read by all women, especially those just beginning on their journey to financial freedom. An excellent gift for all the grads in your life too.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is an amazing book and resource for anyone who has decided to improve their financial knowledge and situation but doesn’t know how. This book focuses more on the “how” of investing and financial cleanup, not so much the “why you should.” To me, that is where it differs from books by authors such as Dave Ramsey and Chris Hogan. It goes into much more detail and effectively uses illustrations and analogies. My favorite parts were where the author uses the cost of a latte over time to prove how much you miss out on accumulating wealth by not investing this small amount. The charts showing the benefit of compounding interest was shocking to see. Also, for parents, the last chapter that focuses on teaching financial literacy to your children is a gem. I will be incorporating many of its lessons with my own children. This was easily a four star read for me and I highly recommend for anyone looking to improve their financial literacy and jumpstart investing decisions without being overwhelmed and intimidated.

As a young woman in college I watched my grandparents count pennies to pay for my Grandfathers cancer medication. I vowed in that moment that I would prepare myself so that I would never have to struggle like they did. I appreciated this book because of my history in so many ways. I love this 9 step program in this book that shows me to spend less and save more. Highly recommended for a woman of any income or age range.

Some good, basic information about personal finance for women. Maybe not the best choice for someone well into their PF journey, but absolutely useful for those just beginning.

I enjoyed the practical advice given in this new edition. I've not read the original twenty-year-old version but I'm sure this updated, current one will be just as successful. Thank you!

I own an earlier edition of Smart Women Finish Rich, so I was very interested to see how it had been expanded and updated. I still find it to be very user friendly and the worksheets are helpful to get your thoughts on paper. The updated at the information regarding the new tax brackets and implications were very helpful. I plan on purchasing a copy for my personal use.

David Bach has some sound financial advice for everyone, not just women. If you want to get your finances in order, this is a good start. While this book was originally published 20 years ago, it has been updated to reflect the current economic situation. I’m going to be giving a copy of this book to my daughter who is just building her finances.

Some excellent advice on finances for women. As a Canadian some of it didn't apply to me. I don't have a 401k. Still a lot of wisdom in this book!

Ive read a few other books by D. Bach.. Similar advice... Just wish I had started reading and listening sooner. Always good to read for reinforcement and anything that helps women and their finances is a good thing.

In the year 2018, to see that an advice book titled "Smart Women Finish Rich" was written by a man can feel like an outdated concept, but author David Bach addresses that issue immediately, stating that his inspiration came from his grandmother, who was a self made millionaire (he also has the Oprah stamp of approval). This book was written 20 years ago and has been updated to reflect today's economy and realistic financial situations. Bach gives readers from different types of financial backgrounds guidelines on how to have a better relationship with money and gain financial independence and security.

Even though the book is marketed towards women, I think everyone could benefit from Bach's tips.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for a review.
