Ummmmm. Nope. It’s Bear’s birthday and no one show up for his party. He goes and seeks out his friends and they all had something else to do. So bear goes back home and there are his friends with a birthday surprise. Nope. Redo the beginning. Its sad that bear throws a party and no one comes. It is like they are saying his party is not good enough and they can throw a better one. Nope. Don’t like this book.

Cute illustrations and a nice story about birthdays and friendship. Bear thinks no one has shown up for his birthday, but it turns out all his friends are showing him a surprise party.

It's Bear's very special day and he really has made an effort: party hats for everyone and he dressed up nicely.
All his friends are invited, but no one shows up.
Did they forget his birthday?

Our Bear decides, maybe it's time for a tiny nudge and goes and visits them one by one, pointing out, it's such a happy day and look he wears a bow tie. But try as he might, even wearing a party hat himself, sure his friends agree, a beautiful day, but they all seem very busy.

Sad Bear walks home, but wait, there are balloons on his door and someone has put flowers on his table.
Did his friends remember his birthday after all?

My Birthday is a cheerful picture book with bright and vibrant illustrations.
It's also a very clever book.

To start off with the book has peepholes and folding pages which has children guessing what will they see on the next page or find behind a door or window.
There are always two perspectives, first we see Bear arriving outside the house, next we get the view from inside. Which leaves endless little things and differences to spot for the kids, but there is more.

Each time when Bear points out to one of the other animals, why this is such an amazing day, he adds one thing:
"I'm wearing a party hat." "I'm wearing a party hat and a bow tie." etc. This is fun for the kids to remember and they can make up their own game.

Finally, when Bear strolls from house to house, there are hints that his friends are in fact preparing a party. The birds carry a banner, Raccoon has made a cake. All this comes together, when they all surprise Bear in his home and now, the children can try and remember, who brought which item along.

Apart from all this, it's also a lovely story. True friends don't forget your special day. In fact, they are looking forward to see you happy and to share the fun with you.

The book is aimed at toddlers ages 24 months and up and I read the story together with my little niece. It was a total delight to see how much see enjoyed the colourful illustrations and how eager she was to spot things. She really engaged with the book.

Good illustrations. Bear tries to remind his friends that it is his birthday today as it looks like everyone has forgotten it.

I read this book to my 2 year old granddaughter and as much as she listened and seemed to enjoy the book, she didn't grasp the idea of what was happening. We also had an ecopy of the book, so there were no flaps or peepholes for us to look at.

The story is cute and the illustrations are very well done. Bear invites all his friends to his party, but nobody shows up. Instead of sitting and whining, he heads out to find them. He is all dressed up with a bow tie, carrying balloons and party hats, but none of his friends take his hints. Of course he does not realize that they are planning something of their own. This is a cute book where you can just enjoy the story or talk about disappointments. We counted the animals on the pages, and my granddaughter pointed out and named several items. I think this would be better read to children a bit older. The publisher, Clavis Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

The synopsis is pretty self-explanatory, but I thought My Birthday was a quick and enjoyable read. Bear is all dressed up and ready for his big day, but no one shows up at his house. When he leaves to find his friends, he discovers they're all really busy. In the end, Bear realizes all that hard work was for him and everyone is happy.

I would have enjoyed a little more conversation between the characters, but the lack of dialogue helped speed the story along.

Happy Birthday, Bear!! Poor bear thinks everyone has forgotten his birthday! But have they??! ;) The illustrations were really good!

This story is simple, repetitive, and sweet. I like the birthday vocabulary included. I was unsure why there were a rabbit and a hard in the story. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I have used these interchangeably. The character names are not too creative. The ending is sweet, if a little abrupt.

My Birthday is a lovely and fun book about Bear who is waiting for his friends to come to his birthday party.

As no one shows up he goes for a walk to see what is going on. All of his friends pretend that they have forgotten about it only to surprise him.
Beautifully illustrated with many forest animals mentioned it is a treat for young readers.
I especially liked how all friends worked together to surprise Bear and how good they were at keeping it a secret.

This is a really cute book about Bear who is having a birthday party for himself and none of his friends show up. He goes on a mission to all his friends and there are clues along the way on what is really going on for his birthday. This is a story of surprizes, friendship and celebration. The illustrations are cute and very colorful. This is a great book for the beginning reader or ages 2-5. It is an easy read and great for a bedtime story for the younger children as it holds interest.

Bear has everything he can ask for. A nice home, great friends but when his birthday comes around nobody seems to remember. What is bear supposed to do? Are his friends planning a surprise party? Or are his friends, really not his friends.

"My Birthday," is a great story about friendship and happiness. This is a simple, straight to the point story. I would recommend the book for children ages 3-6 or for young children learning to read in pre-K and kindergarten.

A bear throws himself a birthday party and invites all his friends, only to be disenchanted by the low turnout. He goes out looking for them, only to find them doing other things, then gets a surprise when he arrives home again. Because of some of the things the other animals are playing with or making, it’s easy to see where this is going.
Bear has only one expression: disappointed surprise. He looks that way even before the bad news. I suppose the artwork is fit for a small child, but there were spots that could have had. . . more.

I requested this book from NetGalley for my nephew who is turning 4 soon. He absolutely loved it. He was so excited about it being bears birthday. He even started planning what he wants for his birthday.

My opinion, it was a nice book easy to read, with nice illustrations but the book ends so suddenly. All of bears friends shout surprise and that’s the end. Would have been nice for it to end with bears reaction and him thanking his friends. Also I did find a few errors in the writing but I can’t say if these errors have been found and corrected by the publisher before the book is published, as I received this book as an eARC. Overall I liked this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Clavis Publishing an eARC in return for an unbiased review.

This is a cute little book about birthdays. It's Bear's birthday and he invited all of his friends for a party. But no one shows up. Have they forgotten about him? He runs into his various friends and no one says happy birthday. At the end of the story his friends have a nice surprise party for him. This would be a cute story for a little birthday child.

MY BIRTHDAY is such a sweet story about Bear, who tells his friends that it’s his special day but they’re all focused on something else. He thinks he’s been forgotten, but turns out they’ve planned a surprise party for him when he gets home. It was okay for what it was but I found that it ended awful abruptly I would've liked to see a proper ending.

Bear is all dressed up to the nines happily awaiting his guests to come to his birthday celebration. He waits and waits but alas nobody arrives to share this joyous occasion with him. Where could they all be? Did they forget today was the day of his party? Oh my!

Being pro-active Bear takes it upon himself to go seek out his friends and find out what exactly is going on.

Bear visits each of the guests and drops hints to them about why he is wearing a party hat, is all dressed up, is wearing his spiffy bow tie and has a flower in his jacket. His friends don't seem to compute his hints as they are all extremely busy with each other and Bear is not included in their busyness..... or is he?

Poor Bear. He gives up and sadly trudges home because he's sure that everyone has forgotten his birthday. When he gets there he notices balloons hanging on his door and flowers on his table. How in the world did they get there? When he enters inside there is not a peep and nobody to be seen.....

Then he hears a loud shout...."SURPRISE!" What in the world is happening? Who could be wishing him a Happy Birthday after all?

The illustrations are colourful and full of detail and action. This fun birthday book has peep holes and a folding page. Kids will enjoy the book I'm sure as everyone can relate to birthdays and parties that are shared by family and friends.

In My Birthday it's Bear's birthday. However, none of his friends seem to realize it, no matter how many hints Bear drops. Just as you start feeling sad for Bear, he comes back home, and his friends are all there waiting to throw him a surprise party! It's a plot that many kids books have used, but it is still cute. The illustrations are very well done and kids will enjoy the pictures.

I'd recommend this book for kids age 2-4... or anyone that enjoys a birthday book!
