Charm, NC is still reeling from a murder that took place the previous Spring. Tea shop owner Everly Swan is desperately wanting to put that behind her and has been focusing solely on making her tea shop a success. At least until the grooms body turns up at a wedding that Everly had been catering for her childhood friend Judy.

With her natural penchant for solving a mystery, Everly begins to investigate the case much to the chagrin of the attractive Detective Grady.

I am absolutely enamored with the town of Charm, NC. In this book we get to know a little bit more about Everly's backstory and what took her away from Charm and back again. The supporting characters are unique and as lovely as Everly herself. Her Aunt Fran and Aunt Clara provide great comic relief while showing true affection and devotion to Everly. Her best friend Amelia is also a very endearing character who develops as a character along with Everly.

The mystery had me intrigued right until the last chapter.

I am in love with Charm, NC and this cast of characters and can't wait to read the next book (hopefully soon!)

This is the 2nd installment of the Seaside Café Mystery series. Everly gets a chance of a lifetime to cater her friends beach wedding and then the groom is found dead in the surf. All eyes focus on the bride to be. Everly begins to investigate and she soon becomes a target. This is a good mystery and makes me want to go to Charm North Carolina. This was a fast paced and quick read and kept me engaged to the very end. Recommend.

What an awesome follow-up to the first book! I'm not sure when the next book is coming, but according to the characters, Christmas in Charm is pretty special, so I'm hoping for a Christmastime book.

When the groom from the wedding that Everly just catered was found floating dead down by the beach, his new bride was the first person of interest, but Everly would have no part of that, since Judy was her childhood friend. Once again, Everly's investigation got her some threats and nearly killed, but she nailed the killer. And once again, I didn't even guess who the killer was. It was fun to follow the clues, and the showdown was really awesome. Everly's cowboy ex-boyfriend showed up for the Summer Splash street fair, but it seemed fairly clear to me that Everly had her mind made up as to which guy she'd choose whenever the urge hits her to date again. And he might just have a little cowboy in him as well. ;)

I've really enjoyed spending time during these first two books in Charm, NC and can't wait to return!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

Close to perfect cozy. Great plot and story, interesting setting, very good characters, and most of all: something happening all the time, so that you don't want to put the book down. A little romance is perfect, too.

This was a great cozy mystery that had all the pieces that make a great light mystery read: a quaint small town, a cast of quirky characters, and a hunky detective with romance potential. Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and well written. The mystery drew me in and though I figured out the murderer fairly early on I still enjoyed the story. I also loved the little details the author included such as the kinds of tea and food Everly was preparing. I hadn’t read the first book in the series but I don’t think it detracted much from my enjoyment of this one at all. I will certainly be looking for this authors next book!

This story has characteristics that make a great cozy mystery: small town with fun, quirky characters, beach setting, and hunky, protective lawman. Everly Swan has returned to her hometown of Charm, North Carolina on the Outer Banks and has opened a successful tea shop and cafe' in her dream home. Judy, one of her friends from high school has hired Everly to host her wedding reception right on the beach in front of Everly's home. judy's new husband is Craig Miller, a wealthy entrepreneur. Everything is going well until the he receives a phone call and leaves to take it but never returns. Everly and another friend, Amelia, are walking on the beach when they spot his body in the surf. They try to do CPR but it is too late. Soon after, a former girlfriend of Craig's shows up shocking everyone saying that she wanted to stop the wedding because she still loves him.
Handsome Detective Grady Hays steps in and starts investigating all the possible suspects including the bride, the ex-girlfriend, business partner and others. No one is allowed to leave town until the crime is solved. The detective warns Everly to stay out of the investigation especially when numerous crimes seem to take place around the beach house and Everly but she can't stop herself even though it appears that someone is after her.
There are great characters to add some depth to the story with Everly's aunts, Clara and Fran, shop owners and beekeepers along with other townspeople and a nosy NY Times reporter there to cover the wedding but hoping for a news story. One unsavory cowboy who is Everly's ex-boyfriend returns to town for the local festival, Summer Splash, and would love to rekindle their relationship even though he was the one to break it off. Everly is not interested but he is hanging around quite a bit inserting himself. Maybe there is a future relationship between Grady and Everly. I kept pulling for them. I am looking forward to another in the series, hopefully.

You know the story is good when it makes you want to book a trip to the town for a holiday. Charm, North Carolina is on the Outer Banks. Everly Swan is making a go of it with her tea and cafe shop in a Victorian house on the promontory near town. She arranges the reception for a childhood acquaintance.
On the wedding day following the wedding, Everly and Amy find the groom dead in the surf. Everly is determined to help the widowed bride but almost immediately she is receiving threats.
Detective Grady Hayes is working on solving the murder when the groom's partner is hurt and the reporter from the wedding disappears. Grady is trying to protect Everly but she has a tendency to get into trouble.
Meanwhile, her aunts are working on a 3 minute video submission on bees. And this is where things get really complicated, because her aunts are set on a mini movie with backdrops, a score and extras.
The elements come together well and I enjoyed reading this book.

This is a light and entertaining cozy mystery set on the upper Outer Banks of North Carolina. Everly Swan has returned home to Charm and started a restaurant focused on different types of iced tea. In this installment, she is hosting her friend's wedding when the groom vanishes shortly after their vows. When he is found murdered, the new widow is the most obvious suspect but there are others who stand to gain from his unfortunate demise. Everly must act fast to find the killer or she might end up his next victim.

The book moved along at a pleasant pace and had all of the elements I enjoy in a cozy. I didn't connect as much as I had hoped with Everly's character but that could have been because I hadn't read the first book. It was well-written and I think I will go back and read the first one.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for an advance digital copy of this book. My review is voluntary.

Everly Swan has moved back to her hometown of Charm, NC to run a café that specializes in different kinds of tea. Everly is hosting her friend’s wedding reception when she finds the groom stabbed to death on the beach just after the nuptials. Everly wants to help solve the murder against the wishes of handsome the sheriff. With a colorful cast of characters and a small town setting where everyone knows each other, No Good Tea Goes Unpunished by Bree Baker is a really fun cozy mystery.

This is the second novel in Baker’s A Seaside Café Mystery series. I received an ARC of this book without reading book one. You didn’t need to read the first book to have an understanding of what was going on. The second book reintroduced us to characters from the first book, but kept the second story moving. I look forward to reading book one and for book three to be released.

The story kept me engaged and moved fast which I love! I didn’t figure out who the murdered was until it was revealed so that made this book all the better. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves cozy mysteries or anyone who wants to try them out.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Everly Swan has a new iced tea and café shop in Charm, North Carolina. She also has a dream gig, catering her best friend’s posh wedding, which is sure to get her noticed. But, then the groom is found floating face down in the ocean, and Everly’s best friend was holding the knife. Everly knows that her best friend isn’t capable of murder. So, who really did it? Is anyone else in danger? Detective Hays doesn’t want Everly to get involved. Especially, after what happened last time. Is it even possible for Everly to not get involved? This is a fun, light, cozy mystery that fans of Bree Baker, Vivien Chien, Kirsten Weiss, and Alan Bradley will enjoy. There is enough detail to get you engrossed in the mystery and on the edge of your seat. And, as a bonus there are even a few recipes to try at the end of the book!

This is the second book in A Seaside Café Mystery series. Ms. Baker is a new to me author.
the location is Charm, North Carolina.

Everly Swan, a tea shop and café (Sun, Sand and Tea) owner has been hired to cater her childhood best friend’s seaside wedding. The groom to is found floating in the surf. Everly investigates to clear her friend.
During the investigation, the business partner is attacked and Everly is next if she doesn’t butt out.

I loved the concept of a tea shop and café on the outer banks of NC. The wedding sounded wonderful except for the murder. This is a fast paced, well-crafted novel. I enjoyed the characters, the plot, and the scenery. I was able to escape the crazy news world with this novel for a few hours a day until I finished it.

Even though I’m not a fan of sweet tea or hibiscus, I did like there were recipes at the end.

I am looking forward to more from this author.

I received an Advanced Reader’s Copy from Sourcebooks Landmark via Netgalley and these are my own opinions.

3.5 Stars

Everly Swan is delighted to be catering an old friend’s wedding on the beautiful beach of Charm, North Carolina. The event also gives Everly the chance to promote the food and drinks from her new iced tea shop and café. Judy’s wedding to her wealthy groom comes after a whirlwind courtship, so Judy becomes the prime suspect when Craig is found dead at their reception. Although Judy isn’t one of Everly’s closest friends, she can’t believe she would murder Craig. Everly is determined to find the real killer, even when danger hits even closer to home.

This book is the second in the series, but the author does a good job of summarizing important points about Everly and the town in the first few chapters. I didn’t read the first book, but the author is able to get me to care about the characters and keep the story moving with just the right amount of backstory. The first part of the book flies by as Everly tries to find out who besides Judy had a motive to kill Craig. However, some of the details I was hoping for never came out. It would have been great to see Judy talking to Everly more about her relationship with Craig and why she shouldn’t be a suspect. Instead, Judy clings to an old friend who seems to want to rekindle more than a friendship with her while Everly investigates the murder without guidance from the bride.

I enjoy Everly’s friendship with Amelia and how they help each other out. I also enjoy her growing friendship with Detective Grady Hays and the obvious spark between them. When the book focuses on those relationships and the murder investigation, it is excellent. However, there are a couple of subplots that detract from the main story. Everly helps Fran and Clara make a movie about bees and although this shows the close relationship between Everly and her two aunts, I would have rather have had more scenes with Everly working at her restaurant. There is also a subplot with Everly’s ex-boyfriend that looks like will continue to be a factor in the next book. In addition, a new character named Ryan, a reporter also investigating the murder, was very annoying, but played a large role in the story. After putting herself in danger a few different times and a few false leads, the case is eventually solved.

This book has a lot of elements I like – a beach setting, seaside café, a likable heroine and her best friend, as well as a handsome, kind love interest for the main character. I like the main plot of the book, but don’t like some of the new characters and subplots which take away from the main plot and prevent the reader from getting to know the main characters better. There is a lot of potential for Everly and Grady as a couple and possibly working together on the next investigation, as long as some of the new developments introduced at the end of this book don’t get in the way.

Hosting a sunset beach wedding for a former childhood acquaintance, Everly Swan is happy with the way things have turned out. Until the groom is found floating in the surf during the reception. When the bride shows up with the bloody knife, the question is whether she’s a grieving widow or a black widow who just got rid of her wealthy husband.

Everly doesn’t believe the bride killed the groom at their wedding reception, but there are so many suspects with all the out of town guests. Before she knows it, Everly seems to have attracted the murderer’s attention, and threats, and vows to solve the case before she becomes the next victim.

Set in the seaside town of Charm, NC, this series is based on the Swan family, women who fled the witch hunt of Massachusetts and settled Charm. Not a paranormal series, but definitely a cute spin off on the premise. Enjoyed reading this first introduction to the series, which was a great standalone, and look forward to being CHARMed again in the near future.

A new author for me Bree Baker.
This is the second book in the series ( not having read the first).
I enjoyed the story line, Everly, her friends and a little romance contributing to a good plot and mystery, a few red herrings that kept you guessing. Well written cozy.
Highly recommend and look forward to the next book out.

Charm, North Caroline is just what it sounds like. A charming seaside town in the outer banks of North Carolina. Everly Swan is settling into the season when an old childhood classmate comes back and asks Every to cater her wedding. The wedding is beautiful and the venue is amazing. The reception is going well until the groom is found, dead. There are many suspects from business partners, family members, and even old friends. Everly finds herself getting carried away with the mystery.
This story has a precious setting that would be perfect for any cozy mystery reader. Having not read the first book in the series did not negatively impact my reading. An enjoyable and fun read, perfect for a spring break day! With twists and turns and the beautiful scenery, this story is one that will appeal to many types of readers.
