It's hard to resist a new Debbie Macomber holiday read to kick off winter reading, plus it is set in Alaska! What was unique about this story was that Josie and Palmer's initial relationship has taken place before the story begins, during the summer months that Josie is the chef at a nearby lodge in the desolate town of Ponder. It's very remote, only accessible by plane and then only when the weather cooperates during the long winter months. Josie is set to head back to Seattle for her dream chef job at a new restaurant and Palmer's reticence hinders his ability to make his feelings known. What a fun story, as the two come to grips with their true feelings. And for such a short book, the secondary characters are surprisingly fun with their appearances.

I really enjoy stories written in such a way that one can sit and relax and enjoy. I don't always have to have the suspense turn the page novel in my hands. Alaskan Holiday was just this type of book. I really enjoyed reading about the Alaska wilderness. In the winter months, some of the communities really have very little ties with the outside world. They are very remote. I found Alaskan Holiday to be a quick but enjoyable read. The characters were fun to discover. The storyline was easy to follow. I received a copy from Netgalley. .A review was not required.

Debbie Macomber can always be counted on for a sweet story with interesting characters and true love. I loved this little Alaskan town with its quirky characters, and Josie and Palmer were just right. Great little heartwarming romance.

Debbie Macomber does not disappoint in her new book, Alaskan Holiday!! This is another gem of a story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am really loving this new book that Debbie Macomber has written. The first couple of chapters are a little slow as she introduces you to the backstory. But once you start getting into it, it starts to move fast and like me, you won't be able to put it down.
Every time I read one of her novels, I feel like I am in a movie. I can see the characters vividly as she does an excellent job of painting each character to their environment, down to the details of the clothing, their walk and saunter, the facial expressions and more.
She truly has the perfect touch when it comes to writing.

Alaskan Holiday was a feel good read. Josie is a woman who loves to cook and she meets Jack who loves to eat! Palmer loves his life in Ponder but something is missing. Will Josie give up her dream?
I thought the characters were very well developed. You could feel like you knew them. This was a fast read.
I would as always recommend this Debbie Macomber book. She does not disappoint.

I love Debbie Macomber's books. The stories are always so heartwarming. The characters are always extremely relatable and I always feel like I've known them for years. This book, Alaskan Holiday, is definitely no exception. I enjoyed the dynamics of the characters and the storyline of this book. I can't wait for her next one!

Thank you Netgalley!
Debbie Macomber books give you such a good feeling. They are quick, easy and always strike a cord. This one will not disappoint.

Another great holiday book from Debbie Macomber. I look forward to each book she writes and feel somewhat disappointed when I finish reading anxiously awaiting her next release. Being an avid reader of hers, I liked it when she brought back a character from her Midnight Sons series, Sawyer. This book does not disappoint, I was hooked from the first chapter and had a hard time putting it down. Loved the ending. Her usual happy ever after.

There's just something about Debbie Macomber's novels that warms my spirit and melts my heart. Alaskan Holiday is a Christmas story about not only finding love, but following your dreams and the surprises that life can provide along the way. Josie Avery takes a position cooking at a lodge in Ponder, Alaska while waiting on her dream opportunity to work with one of the nation's hottest celebrity chefs. Despite the fact that she plans on leaving at the end of the summer, she develops a friendship with local swordsmith Palmer Saxon. On the day she's supposed to leave, she misses the last ferry out of town and finds herself stuck in Ponder for the winter. What's a girl to do, especially when not everyone is upset that she missed the ferry? Without giving too much of the story away, some of my favorite aspects of this novel are Jack's dialogue and appetite and that it's not your "typical" romance novel. Both of our main characters have goals and dreams and they do not have to give up everything for each other. If you're looking for a funny and charming read, do not skip Alaskan Holiday.

Engaging modern holiday romance. Interesting spin with an Alaskan backdrop. The start of her career and meeting Palmer were pleasant surprises for Josie. The prospect of her new job with the famous chef, however, filled her with joy; until Palmer's last minute bombshell! Enjoyed the premise and the characters, especially Jack.
Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.

Debbie Macomber is brilliant at weaving a dreamy love story. Josie is spending the summer sharpening her culinary skills before starting her dream job with a well renowned chef. However she wasn't expecting to build feelings for Palmer, a local swordsmith.
While she feels she needs to follow her dream, she feels her heart is with the small Alaska town, and with Palmer. Palmer loves her enough to let her go, but hopes she will find her way back to him.
You also have Jack who is another local. His vocal praise for Josie's meals are hilarious and endearing. This story falls along the line of the old phrase if you love someone set them free, if they come back to you it was meant to be. Sweet, romantic, and perfect for the holiday season.

It's not Christmas until I've read a Debbie Macomber Christmas novel! She once again delivered with her trademark heartfelt story. I loved the Alaskan setting. It wasn't my absolute favorite of hers, but it was still an enjoyable read.

ALASKAN HOLIDAY is the latest work by Debbie Macomber It is a wonderful heartwarming read that is absolutely perfect for the holiday season. It is a short quick read and easy to fit in and gives you time to relax during the notorious hectic time of year. It reminded me of watching one of those awesome Christmas movies we all binge watch starting in December. The story is as cozy as the cover makes it look. I loved it.
There is definitely a magical feel as well as a bit of a chill since the story mainly takes place in Alaska. The main characters are well developed and the story has a sentimental feel and old world charm that Ms. Macomber is so well known for. This story did not disappoint. I would definitely recommend this great holiday read.
Thank you to Debbie Macomber, the publisher, NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Debbie Macomber continues to write beautiful stories about great characters. Even better than that she can describe a location so well that you feel like you are there. Always my among my favorites and Alaskan Holiday is no different.

Another wonderful read by Debbie Macomber where the characters tug at your heart strings and make you believe that anything is possible! Highly recommend to all!

Alaskan Holiday is an easy read. The characters are all people I could imagine being friends with. I found it amusing and lighthearted. The plot was simple and could have used a little more depth but sometimes it's nice to relax with a quick read so I didn't mind. All in all Macomber entertained me once again.

I received a free copy of this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Alaskan Holiday is a quick, romantic, holiday read. It centers around Josie and Palmer and is set in both beautiful Alaska and busy Seattle. Josie has finished culinary school and her dream is to be a sous chef at a top rated chef's restaurant in Seattle. Palmer is a master sword smith in a remote Alaskan town and quickly falls in love with Josie. While she works her summer job at an Alaskan lodge, she receives a job offer with a top chef in Seattle and is under contract to begin work as a sous chef. The sparks between Josie and Palmer really ignite between the two and they both get very close and possibly begin to fall in love. Josie begins to feel torn between her dream job and her possible dream man; however, she just can't give up this dream job that she worked so hard for and live in Alaska. As the end of summer nears, Palmer would do anything to keep Josie by his side, so he decides to propose and Josie is faced with a tough decision. Summer is over and the cold, icy weather will encompass Alaska at any moment and there's only one chance to make it out of Alaska, back to Seattle before the lake freezes over. This book is written in a way where you can feel both points of view as far as Palmer letting Josie go and not making her feel guilty and Josie trying to focus on her new dream career and wondering if she gave up on her dream man too soon. This book is a feel good, romantic, love story that won't leave you disappointed. Debbie Macomber has a way with making us fall in love with all of her characters and this book is no exception.

Crackling Northern Lights
For those of us from the lower 48 and Hawaii (and possibly for much of the rest of the world), Alaska holds a mystique of cold, frozen tundra, mythic snowfalls, rugged trappers, and gold. Sorry, but gold isn't mentioned once in this delightful, dual POV (point-of-view), romance, although the midnight sun does play a role. The question here is whether a city girl, used to hustle and bustle, crowds, and on-demand just about anything, learn to love relative isolation and temperature extremes if they come with a handsome hunk of self-containment. A thoroughly enjoyable novel; plus there is a dog!

I admit I judge books like this by a different criteria than some of the books I read. I don't expect War and Peace when I read a book by Debbie Macomber - I expect a nice, light read that doesn't require much thinking. And that's what I got with this book. A pleasant (if predictable) storyline, pleasant characters, and good descriptions of surroundings. Great for a beach read or while sitting by a fire.
