Daniel is a pediatrician whose childhood was anything but happy. He blames women, though only beautiful women(who his father was drawn to like a moth to a flame) for his father's downfall. Daniel has worked hard to become a doctor and he now has a good job, a gorgeous home and is determined to avoid his father's mistakes, until he meets Mia. She is stunning which is his first clue to quickly walk away. However, there is more to Mia than just a pretty face and he takes a leap of faith and marries Mia.
The phrase “ the honeymoon is over” is quite appropriate here. Daniel returns to work after his honeymoon and discovers a new drug, Respira, has been given FDA approval and his waiting room is full or parents who want their children to have this latest vaccine. It is said to reduce the chance of children getting sick and big money 'pharma' is advertising the drug everywhere. Daniel has doubts, but his boss Teddy is 100% on board with Respira(so what could go wrong).
At home, Mia has suddenly changed. She is lying to Daniel and he knows it but he is loathe to confront her and rock the status quo. Suddenly, his dream job and dream wife don't seem quite so perfect and as doubts consume him and the body count starts to rise, nothing is as it appears.
I read this at the beach and it was, I thought, a good story. That's because I convinced myself I had it all figured out and it was one for me and my super sleuth reading hat. Then the author pulled the rug out from under me and I realized it was a very good story as I raced to the finish(because, I, of course, was totally wrong). If you enjoy a good mystery with lots of twists and a relevant theme(vaccines and pharmaceutical companies are often in the news), I would recommend Malice. This is the first book I have read by Jennifer Jaynes and she definitely made my 'want to read more' list.
I received an e ARC from Thomas & Mercer through NetGalley.

Malice starts with a bang from the first page and it’s a page turner until the end. But on closer examination parts don’t make sense. I can easily see pharmaceuticals and doctors doing anything to keep negative reviews away from the public, but in this case emergency doctors and parents were already skeptical. There were too many adverse affects. So why kill doctors who are speaking out against the drug, let alone their entire family? It didn’t make sense.

Once again Jennifer Jaynes hits it out of the park with a psychological thriller that twists, turns, twists again and has an unexpected ending. At the heart of the story is a very successful man who is a pediatrician and seems to have a perfect life.....and then adds the perfect wife. But of course when we believe something to be perfect, is it? Daniel’s perfect life seems to be spiraling out of control when he is caught up in a practice where the owner is more interested in the money he can get from big-pharma for using a very questionable drug on his patients, and Daniel’s conscience is making him dig deeper into what is happening to the young patients who are given it. Especially after learning about the reaction of one of his young patients and the mother who takes their story to a journalist. This storyline is very realistic in this day and could have been ripped from our own headlines. But also adding to Daniel’s whirlwind is that he just knows his perfect wife, Mia, is hiding something. His need to discover what she does when he is at work leads him down another path that spirals out of control and to an unexpected ending that leaves you wanting to know more. I didn’t want to put this book down....couldn’t wait to see what happened next! I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley in return for my honest review, which this is.

Successful pediatrician Daniel Winters has his life on track, and everything carefully under control. Until he meets beautiful Mia, who beaks all his rules and becomes his wife. Soon after, Daniel realizes there are some unsettling changes in the practice he works at and with some strange behavior from his new spouse.

Daniel grapples with accepting the effects seemingly tied to a new vaccination, when he's told to "toe the line" if he wants to make partner. He soon finds there's much more at stake than making partner when other people who voice their concerns become victims of "accidents" and "suicides".

When an innocent child dies, Daniel can't keep turning a blind eye for the sake of the practice. Jennifer Jaynes does an excellent job of offering insight to the possibilities of what happens when human avarice overtakes the promise to "first, do no harm." I think she introduced the topic perfectly, and left enough for readers to decide where they would take looking into Big Pharma themselves.

When he finds Mia's not being completely honest with him, the "voice" keeps reminding him of why he's always avoided her type of woman and pushes Daniel to get rid of her. Daniel turns to long-time associate, Billy, who happens to be in the PI game to track Mia's actions. Between the "voice", Billy, and his own unraveling, Daniel sets wheels in motion that will change many lives. Forever.

I received an ARC from #NetGalley, and am providing my honest feedback.

Wow! I love Jennifer Jaynes books; the characters are relatable, the storylines are believable, each book is a page turner, but more than that, I love her books because each one is ALWAYS better than the last and this one is no exception. Jennifer has really outdone herself this time.

Daniel has the perfect life - a good job, a beautiful house, newly married to the woman of his dreams, a dog for his best buddy, bliss. Well, apart from the fact people are dying all around him, his devoted wife is starting to act mysteriously and there’s a new drug at work that seems to be causing more harm than good. He should have trusted his inner voice instead of ignoring it, now he has to live the life he chose.

I received this advance copy from Netgally for my honest review and honestly I could put this book down! It had me captured from page one. I absolutely loved it and Jennifer Jaynes did not disappoint. You often wonder when you find an author you love how they can top the last book with their next book and I think she did it! This book is about controversy, love trust and deceit. It will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end!

Jennifer Jaynes never ceases to amaze me. Being an avid reader of her writings I always anticipate the release of her latest work. All of her books have been really good books, but Malice changed gears a little and moved to the front of the pack of my best read books list. Malice offers a twist, a turn, and then just a surprise that leaves your mouth gaping. If you make Malice your first JJ read or start with her earlier books you will not be disappointed. Thanks Jennifer for your hard work and dedication to your readers.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is on a whole new level of suspense. You have corruption, cover ups, and murder. Add a very suspicious wife and you have one incredible story. I admire the amount of research Jennifer Jaynes must have done for this book. It is very well written and a true page turner. Unputdownable!

Daniel is a successful pediatrician that stays away from beautiful women because he saw what that "type" of woman did to his father. Until he meets the gorgeous Mia and he goes against all the rules he has set up for himself. Doctors begin to die... Mia starts acting strange and begins lying about where she is... Daniel is pressured to prescribe a drug with questionable side effects... This book will keep you guessing until the very end! If you love psychological thrillers, this book is for you! If you love to read, this book is for you!! If you don't like to read... this book is still for you!!! Thanks to Jennifer Jaynes for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

There hasn’t been a book that Jennifer Jaynes has written thus far that hasn’t kept me up late into the night feverishly reading every word! Malice was no different! It consumed me from the very first word to the very last word. Now, Malice is different from Ms. Jaynes’ other books. Up until Malice, they have been incredibly suspenseful thrillers. Malice is more of a psychological thriller. It gets your mind working and wondering!

I found the characters and situations so relatable, so realistic. I think it really plays on a societal fear, a Big Brother kind of thing. I’ve actually struggled with the vaccination question when my daughter was younger so I felt like I understood the dilemma and ethics on a personal level. I also think the storyline is an interesting concept outside of being a parent.

The characters were among my favorite sections in the book. Rachel was so relatable. I understood her plight. Daniel was good. I loved how he wanted so badly to do what was right and not just what he was told. Billy wasn’t the most believable. I liked his PI type of feel.

So many things in life could be avoided if people were just honest. If Mia had been honest with Daniel, so much of this wouldn’t have happened. Ms. Jaynes is so descriptive that you can see the story developing. Like Andy’s run was fantastic. You can feel the crisp air and the thud of his feet as they hit the pavement.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Getting off to an immediate fast start, the reader is drawn into the story as Dr. Daniel Winters struggles with all he has been taught to believe. "Do no harm" has come to mean very little when society places greater value on vetting the latest television model over real world life and death consequences of medical decision making. Just as we shouldn't only value the opinion of the expert salesman, caution is due in even the most innocuous of doctor recommendations. This engaging story will catch your pre-conceived notions unawares.

You must read Jennifer Jaynes’ new book, Malice! Dr. Daniel Winter is an up-and-coming pediatrician and newly married but has a dark past. He grew up in a not so great situation and has struggled with alcohol overuse and trust issues with women. His wife, Mia, is gorgeous and almost seems too good to be true. At the busy pediatrics office where Daniel works, his mentor (and owner of the practice) is heavily promoting a new immunoceutical called Respira. Actually it seems like every pediatrician in town is promoting this new drug. It is supposed to eradicate the common cold and prevent many other illnesses that are caused by colds. Daniel starts to notice that some children receiving Respira are having serious side effects. When he goes to his boss he is quickly told to drop it. However, he does not. The scary part is that other doctors who have questioned this new drug have met untimely deaths! At the same time all this is going on, Daniel is questioning his wife’s motives for marrying him and if she is faithful. Mia has a lot of secrets that Danie does not know about. This book was on another level comparex to Jennifer Jayne’s previous books. It was very fast paced and I loved the medical and vaccine information in the book. It is a very timely thriller as vaccines are always up for debate with parents. I specifically enjoyed this book because I work at a doctor’s office and her descriptions of conditions and the culture of the medical field were spot on. There were several shocking events toward the end that surprised me but added depth to the overall story.. This is a definite must read for thriller lovers. Thank you to Jennifer Jaynes for the ARC of Malice in exchange for an honest review.

Malice by Jennifer Jaynes
Publisher: Thomas & Mercer
Publish Date: September 25, 2018

Thanks to author, Jennifer Jaynes and publisher Thomas & Mercer for an ebook ARC of Malice written by Jennifer Jaynes.

Dr. Daniel Winters is living a fairy - tale life. He has a beachfront home in Malibu, a career as a respected pediatrician at a thriving practice in Los Angeles and a gorgeous new wife, Mia.
This all seemed too good to be true as Daniel has struggled with mental illness, addiction and thoughts of suicide.

Then Daniel learns that a fellow pediatrician and his family were slaughtered in their home. This is just the first chip in Daniel’s perfect life. Little by little, everything begins to fall apart. At work, his career becomes at risk when he is asked to remain silent about a dangerous new drug. At home, Mia has gone from an affectionate newlywed to a mysterious woman hiding secrets - and possibly even a lover.

Another doctor is found dead, and Mia’s behaviour becomes more and more suspicious. Daniel begins to wonder, is his paranoia getting the best of him or has his fairy-tale life become a nightmare worse than he has ever imagined?

I give this book a rating of 5 stars and I highly recommend reading it. As always, another great book by Jennifer Jaynes. I found this one quite a bit different than what she normally writes, but I was still pulled right into it and found it hard to put down. It was well written and the characters came together really well. There was lots of twists and turns until the end that I didn’t see coming.
Jennifer is one of my favourite authors, and I look forward to reading more from her!

HOLY PLOT TWIST!
Okay so Jennifer Jaynes has done it again with Malice. I’ve been looking forward to this book for a while and I’m reeling. Is it wrong of me to want more?! I was captivated by Dr. Daniel Winters and his wife Mia, along with Rachel. Their stories were beautifully written and it’s like I just sat and watched a movie rather than read this.
Daniel and Mia are living their perfect life but isn’t always what they may thought, especially when a doctor or two die suspiciously after raising concerns over a new drug. That’s when things slowly begin to unravel. What exactly is going on because things just are not what they seem.. Paranoia or no? You just need to read, you won’t be disappointed!
