While reading this one all I could think of was the Island of Misfit Toys from the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer cartoon, only instead of misfit toys we have misfit investigators/law enforcement types. The crew is a motley bunch, all quirky in their own right, the most quirky the dog Roscoe, who became my favorite character!

As all of these characters are a bit odd it could have come off over the top and not in a good way, instead it all worked. I think as the series goes on we'll see the group gel more, instead of how things are now, all of them a bit wary of each other. I do think the painting at the end started them all bonding.

Malcom was interesting. I felt like he had the hardest job being he was under cover on not one job, but 2. Sure they were linked, but it didn't help that Mal really liked Pippa and the only lies he told her were about his job.

I felt for Pippa, she was so scared and so wanted to believe in Mal, but she was smart and realized things were off. For Pippa it was a good thing that Mal was there to help her, as things got sticky towards the end, but they all managed to pull of the save.

I look forward to reading more in this story, to see what all the misfits are up to.

I think the plot was good enough, but in a way the "team" was a little too excessive to be believable and it took the scene away to the "real protagonists", so I am not sure I have appreciate this book as much as I should.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

Fast paced story. I've always liked Rebecca Zanetti's stories, and this one was no different. Kept me guessing until the end on Pippa's role in the cult. But I loved the group of guys - especially Wolfe! (and Kat) Can't wait for the next in the series.

Hidden is my first book by Rebecca Zanetti but it definitely won’t be my last. It’s not that I’ve been going out of my way to avoid romantic suspense, but lately I just haven’t been in the mood for the drama. Well... this one sold me,. It had a vintage Suzanne Brockmann vibe to it and that is high praise from me!

4.5 stars from me! Well developed characters, a strong, suspenseful storyline... looking forward to the next in the series.

I loved this book. The characters were so real and I loved their chemistry. There was a good balance of romance/heat and action/mystery and it kept me glued to the pages.
So if you are like me and you love good chemistry and fast paced stories you'll enjoy this one.
Well done Rebecca! Can't wait for what's next!

Hidden by Rebecca Zanetti is the first book in the new romantic suspense Deep Ops series. Or perhaps this would be another for the more erotic suspense pile as the relationship was jumped right into the steamy before the “romance” is involved.

Malcolm West is an ex undercover police officer who out of chance has chosen the wrong neighbor to live peacefully next to. As soon as Malcolm moves in he notices that Pippa is a bit of a shut in barely leaving her home next door but he never expects to be pulled into a case involving her.

When Malcolm is approached that his new neighbor may be involved in a cult that the authorities have been trying to infiltrate he’s a bit skeptical. Torn between his attraction to Pippa and his suspicion Malcolm finds himself undercover yet again hoping to stop the cult from harming innocent people.

Hidden was quite a fast paced story on every level, not just the relationship side of things. Although I often wish the characters start on more than just their attraction it actually worked in this story leaving the focus on the suspense side and putting a reader on the edge of their seat waiting to find out what would happen. The situation and characters pulled me right in from the beginning so I’d definitely recommend checking this one out.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Rebecca Zanetti has a new series called Requisition Force a romantic thriller.
Malcolm West is just looking for some peace after working undercover for years.
Pippa Smith, who has been in hiding for years from a cult, is watching to new neighor move in. And all she is thinking is how HOT he looks. and the first thing out of her mouth is " I'm not a virgin".
Awesome read that will keep the reader on edge to find out what happens.
Action packed, fast paced and humor that makes an outstanding read!!!!

This was my first Rebecca Zanetti book and I loved it. I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, I expected to enjoy it, I just didn't expect to love it this much.
First in the Deep Ops -romantic suspense series revolving around a group of individuals in need of a fresh start, who have formed a Requisition Force, infiltrating cults, going undercover, rescuing people from impossible situations... The couple focus is on Malcom and Pippa.
Wow! This was good. Zanetti is an amazing writer. this first installment of the Deep Ops is a pip with Mal's struggle with his guilt and his hope that he can make things right for Pippa. Zanetti sets up the series' characters with a decent background on their various strengths and weaknesses. We understand the solid support provided by the team's memebers and gain an introduction to them. I loved hearing Force's musings about the team's psychitrist and Wolfe's thoughts about the cat Kat and I loved reading about the quirky dog Roscoe. And of course the chemistry between our couple was sizzling. It's a group of people you want to cheer on and look forward to further adventures setting things to rights in peoples' lives.
This fantastic book kept my heart racing at times, and had me weeping at others. Hidden is an emotional tale about second chances, family, and a person’s capability for change. It's a great story and quick read. It completely sucked me in and I couldn't put it down. Even though there were bits and pieces I knew were going to happen I was surprised by the twists and turns of the plot and didn't expect a lot of them! This book was really great. I highly recommend it.

A new series by Rebecca Zanetti, and its started with a banger!
I enjoyed this book, with its quirky characters and very suspenseful plot. I was pretty hesitant going into this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. Pippa is a shut in, who is on the run from her crazy cult leader, and Malcolm is this sexy ex cop who moves into next door but is forced into going under cover again. The relationship works for me, the suspense did too. I'm looking forward for the next one.

Hidden by Rebecca Zanetti captured my attention from the first chapter; and I couldn't put it down. This is the first book in her Deep Ops series and I am looking forward to reading every one of them.

Ms. Zanetti did a great job in introducing the characters of the Requisition Force. Angus, Malcom, Wolfe, Nari, Brigid, Raider and Roscoe (a German Shepard who wears high heels, eats liptsick and drinks whiskey). Ms. Zanetti took her time introducing the characters so that I was able to develop a real interest in each of them. Malcom West, an ex-undercover cop, is one of Angus Force's new recruits; and he's been set up to infiltrate a cult and cultivate a relationship with his new neighbor, Pippa, who was a member of the cult when she was younger. Both Malcom and Pippa are broken from their past lives, so they are flawed and don't trust easily. I liked both of them and I admired Pippa as she has done well in staying off the grid while trying to evade the cult. A tense plot with plenty of suspense, action and even some hilarious moments because of Roscoe. The romance and sexual heat between Mal and Pippa should have melted my Kindle but luckily it survived. This was just too good to put down until I reached the end.

When burnt-out, former undercover cop Mal West gets sucked into a strange unit, his first task with them is to investigate his seemingly sweet, innocent but squirrelly neighbour who’s hiding a deadly secret. But Pippa Smith is covering up something as well, and their paths collide in a way that’s unexpected and dangerous.

Told in a few flashbacks, we learn of Mal’s and Pippa’s personal histories that led them to where they are now; both are tortured in their own ways by memories too scarring for them to forget. First as neighbours, then later as lovers, both clearly battle the same crazies, though from different and opposing angles,.

As a grounding book that introduces the rest of the Requisition Force, ‘Hidden’ is a good hook in itself in pulling out the cracked-up, damaged unit that I can’t wait to see more of. Severely defective in their own ways (even the dog’s included in this) though it’s ripe for Zanetti to insert some humour here, there’re sufficient seeds planted here that makes me want each of their stories.

The frustration I have nonetheless, with such undercover stories simply lies with the deception that forms (in this case, on both sides) the foundation of a romantic relationship and becomes the major part of the conflict that you know is just coming because of this very thing that gets stretched longer than it should have.

The pitfall that typically follows is the use of sex that delays communication and disclosure, or some other event/circumstance that deliberately blocks this—which then forms a large part of the romantic pairing’s misunderstanding, with lots of running involved—along with some TSTL behaviour—because there just isn’t enough trust between the both of them to go around. It’s precisely because of this that I find the love/romantic connection between Mal and Pippa difficult to swallow, especially if trust and respect (apart from the scorching sex) are supposed to be foundational for their relationship.

The pace and action do pick up after this though, which eventually made the story a lot more engaging. And even if Mal/Pippa do sort of work out their issues in a rush before the climax happens, I probably would have liked this a lot more if less time had been spent on deceit and the copious amount of sexual tension (and later on, raunchy sex instead of talking) simply taking up the first three-quarters of the plot.

This is the first book in the new Deep Ops series. If you love Rebecca Zanetti's books then I will tell you this one will definitely NOT disappoint you! Pippa is a woman who has been hiding for years. She avoids leaving her house unless she absolutely has to. Malcolm is an ex undercover cop who has just bought the house next to hers. What he doesn't know is that he has been set up to buy what he thought was his dream house. And he certainly never thought he would be attracted to the woman who watches him through her windows. But once he realizes that she is hiding something, he signs up to go undercover again. But this time, she is the target because they believe she is a part of something much bigger just waiting to happen. And although Pippa is drawn to Malcolm more than anyone she has ever met, she has to decide whether she can trust him. Or if he is a part of the things that she is running from.

I loved this book!! From the beginning I was sucked in and wanted to know more. Pippa is a woman who makes you wonder what exactly happened in her past to make her the way she is now. And when you find out? It's horrifying and makes you want to beat on some people! Malcolm makes you feel all the feels for him and everything he has done as a police officer to take down the bad guys. Including what happened on the previous assignment. Putting them together while they get to know each other and just spend time together, you understand why they are pulled towards each other. They have both been through hell and come out the other side. They may not be whole but they are working through everything to at least survive and try to be happy. And then you throw in the side characters? They are just as awesome as the main characters! There are parts that will make you laugh (a lot), make you sad, and just make you wonder how people can be the way they are. I loved it all! I can't wait for the next one!

I'm so looking forward to this series based on Hidden. While teams have been a part of Rebecca Zanetti's past series, I enjoyed the team Mal finds himself a part of even more. The quirks in some of the teammates keep the feeling light even though the danger is real and the stakes are high. There is romance and heat and action and humor. I loved this book and I can't wait for the next one!

Ive heard of Rebecca Zanetti, but have never read her books! I now have to remedy that.
This book was great. Pippa is a recluse whos hiding from something. Malcom is her new neighbor. Both have secrets and are suffering from past traumas, but the attraction is there from the beginning and its HOT!
The twist and turns of the plot were good, we dive a little into the life inside of cults. The other characters in the book are interesting, especially Wolfe and his kitten, which he keeps in his pocket (wouldnt mind learning more about this quirky man) Theres a certain dog with shoe fetish lol.

I say, pick up this book, you wont regret it!
Looking forward to reading more.

Loved this book, it takes a serious matter of cults/terrorism, showing true evil of some people. Then you have men and women who are wounded inside from having to deal with such evil. Sounds like a really serious book, right? Rebecca Zanetti brings these men and women to life, showing there coping skills with great humor. They are the protectors, they cannot just walk away. Cannot wait for the next book!

Malcolm West is an ex-undercover cop who is just looking for some much needed peace and quiet when he moves into a quaint secluded little cottage at the edge of a small town. Before his moving boxes are even unpacked, he discovers a beautiful but suspiciously terrified neighbour (Pippa) and is approached by a sneaky and confident government agent (Angus) with an unwelcome job offer.

What an enticing intro to Rebecca Zanetti’s new series about the dealings of a secret misfit branch of the Homeland Defense Department, who jokingly refer to themselves as the “Requisitions Force”! Obviously, Zanetti has big plans for her latest family of characters and the exposition part of the story requires patience and perseverance. The Requisitions Force is made up of some quirky personalities (human and four-legged) and they have a creepy, seditious cult to infiltrate.

Malcolm and Pippa’s romance is alternately fun and sultry mixed with a healthy need for some suspended disbelief. Their secrets from each other weigh heavily over much of the book. The action and pace picks up towards the last quarter. Interest in the characters promises to pay off as the series continues - especially with the amusing Roscoe and adorable Kat!

I enjoy Rebecca Zanetti's romantic suspense series and dove right into Hidden, the first novel in her new Deep Ops series. I absolutely loved the special Ops unit, characters and romance. Zametti sunk her hooks into me and never let go! Heat, suspense, humor, and a motley crew of characters made Hidden an addictive start to the Deep Ops series. What a great start to a new series with a motley crew of misfits who make up a newly formed Homeland Defense Unit. They even have a mascot dog named Roscoe who provides plenty of comedic moments.

Each of the members that make up the Unit was disgraced in some way. FBI Profiler Angus Force first recruit to the unit is former undercover cop Malcolm West. Malcolm last undercover op left him disheartened enough he quit. Still recovering from PTSD and injuries he just wants peace and quite in the new house he just bought but Angus needs him to go undercover in a cult and get close to his neighbor who appears to be a shut in and scared of strangers.

This was the perfect infusion of flawed characters, compelling suspense with a twisted cult leader, smokin bedroom scenes and some seriously funny moments. By the end of the book we've met all of the team and I cant wait for their stories.

I love Rebecca Zanetti books and this one does not disappoint. This is a new series and is a both thrilling, intense and intriguing. Hidden has loads of drama with a sprinkling of romance and keeps you guessing from the very start.

Pippa is a sweet,, brave, loyal heroine and Mal is a sexy alpha dealing with PTSD rolling a long undercover op. I loved Roscoe, he brought so much humour to the plot and I really did laugh out loud.

Possibly the best book I have read this year and I can’t wait for the next book.

It was not bad story, it just took a bit long to get to it. I wanted more focus on the cult - what happened, why... at the halfway mark it still was unclear. That’s not to say the characters buildup wasn’t good. Each character has an interesting backstory, Roscoe was hilarious.

This story was built on a woman that was deep in hiding (no footprint anywhere for years!). The fact that she would trust our hero so quickly was a bit silly, unbelievable, even for this genre (more so the way it started).

When it does get going it was a good story. There are a lot of different characters coming from many damaged backgrounds - many stories to come! (So I think now that the stage has been set I think the stories may streamline and flow a bit better.).

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Kensington Books for a copy in exchange for a review.
