I left a 3 star rating when I read this book 4 years ago but didn't write a formal review. I am marking the rating here to move this book off my shelf.

Jessica Lemmon always does a fabulous job with her fun and flirty love stories. This was no different. Jackson and Allison's second chance love story was fantastic. The ride was so fun and a bit whimsical to read about a famous celebrity actress.

More and more as I've gotten older, I've come to love a wonderfully written reunion story! After a Hollywood scandal sends actress, Allison, back to her childhood home (sans parents who are on vacation)...who should she run into but her old flame, Jax! I have to say, that I adored the fact that about 2/3 of the book came from Jax's point of view. He's honest and sexy and don't we all love that combo!

Book 5 in the Real Love series by the amazing, Jessica Lemmon was a quick, sweet, and heartwarming read. 4 stars!

*PSA - I haven't met a Lemmon book that I haven't adored and let's just say...I've devoured 25 of them so far. Happy reading!

I adore Jessica Lemmon and the stories that she tells. But, America’s Sweetheart had me really thinking about how much I could hate one heroine. Then, leave it to Jessica Lemmon to turn her around and actually make her loveable!

Allison was a self-centered, ignorant, Hollywood witch. Yep, that’s exactly what I thought of her from the first time that I read her name in the story. She was definitely all me, me, me even in college. And she really didn’t change much until everything started crashing down around her. But, come to think about it, she was still ugly when that happened as well. I honestly think it took a miracle to get me to like her and look at her as a loveable character. But, in the end I did. Did she deserve all that was happening to her … no. Did she deserve to be ostracized from Hollywood … probably not. Did she deserve the love of a man like Jackson Burke … hell, no. But, she had it. Now, let’s hope she does the right thing with that love.

Aw, Jackson. Sweet, sexy, loving, incredibly hot Jackson. He can’t believe that his shirt is being soaked by a sobbing Allison. No, he just can’t believe that she’s here and every memory is coming back. No, he’s not going to let her back into his life like that. Will he help her? Sure, it’s the right thing to do. But, he knows where he stands with her … it’s all for the camera’s, it’s all a publicity stunt … until it isn’t for him anymore and he just can’t do it anymore. He did it, he let his heart get involved and he finally admitted that he never fell out of love with her.

OK, it took a lot to redeem Allison in my eyes. I still don’t think she deserves Jackson. But, Jessica Lemmon made me see that the heart wants what it wants and love knows no boundary .. she has a way of doing that. I love that she can write sweet, strong men and have them tame that witchy woman.

While I really liked Jackson, Allie got on my nerves a bit. She was selfish and Jackson deserved better than her. The audio on this was fantastic.

America's Sweetheart by Jessica Lemmon was the perfect second chance romance I was looking for! It was sweet and sexy.

Allison has returned home after a scandal surrounds her in Hollywood. Instead of being able to hide away in her parents home she comes home to find that her high school sweetheart has been hired to remodel her parents bedroom and redo the deck while they're away.

Their relationship may have ended when she moved to California but their chemistry is still their. While I liked Jackson, Allison was another story - I found she got on my nerves quite a bit.

If you enjoy second chance romances you should check out America's Sweetheart, also If you enjoy audiobooks I felt that Kathryn Lynhurst and Jason Clarke did a great job with bringing Allison and Jackson's story to life.

Happy Reading!!!

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

Jax and Allie were high school and college sweethearts until Allie moved to Los Angeles to chase her dream of being an actress, and their relationship couldn’t survive the distance. Now Allie is a famous actress under the name Nina Lockhart, and Jax remodels houses in their Ohio hometown. When Allie is accused of stealing the Oscar statue of another beloved actress, she runs to her parents’ Ohio home to hide out. The last thing she expects to see when she walks into the house is her ex-boyfriend, who is remodeling her parents’ home. The pair still have a lot of unresolved feelings about each other, and now that they have to be in close company again, they will have to resolve their old issues.

This book has everything a good romance story should, and second-chance romances are my favorite trope. America’s Sweetheart is the fifth book in a series but can easily be read as a standalone. I highly recommend this book to people who like romance books.

America's Sweetheart is a very sexy quick read. It's a second chance at love story with a satisfactory happily ever after. I liked the hero from the start. the heroine took a long time to grow on me. I like to see character growth during the story and the heroine didnt show much growth until the very ending of the story. Jessica Lemmon writes with passion and the love scenes are dynamite. I just wish the love story balanced them. As a stand alone, America's Sweetheart was an entertaining read.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

America’s Sweetheart is a second chance romance and I love those types of books!!! I love this author so sometimes I'm biased. This was the story about Jackson and Allie who are two high school sweethearts and they are separated when Allie leaves to make a name for herself. It picks up when she's back because of a scandal, Eventually, they find their way back to each other and all the stuff that goes with it. There's some resentment there, some sweetness, funniness, and sexiness. Overall, this was a great read.

I loved this book! It had a mix of everything I love- a great reunion story, steamy romance scenes and a very satisfying happily ever after. I absolutely fell in love with Jackson and I don't know how she ever left him in the first place, but it happened and then life happened. I love the fun romance, the Hollywood twist and an epilogue. I had no idea this was part of a series and you definitely can read this as a standalone. I highly recommend and will check the rest out.

I was not able to get into this book as much as I would have liked to. The book has a decent plot and good characters but it just didn't keep my interest, though it is a book that I will try again at another time.

Allison Murphy dropped out of college to pursue her dream in Hollywood, leaving behind her family and boyfriend Jackson Burke in Ohio. When a scandal erupts, she heads back home to lick her wounds and is surprised to find her ex Jackson remodeling her parent's home. Over the course of several weeks, you learn why Jackson and Allison broke up and why Allison (or Nina as they call her in Hollywood) is taking the fall for stealing an Oscar from a famous actress. Jackson and Allison still have feelings and the anticipation of them getting together was great. Jackson seems so sweet, but Allison really came across as immature. Every time she seemed to be growing up she reverted into this spoiled immature child who does whatever her agent wants her to. Jackson and Allison end up together in the end, but the ending wasn't as sweet as it could have been.

Allison was caught red-handed (allegedly) in a very sticky situation and came home to her small town to let the press furor die down. Unbeknownst to her, her parents have hired her old flame to remodel their house and they just can't stay away from each other. Jackson and Allison had a lot of unresolved issues, and plenty of chemistry. Fun and spicy read.

Sweet story, nice characters, and boring plot. I love Hollywood star stories, and in this case, the star was the female character, who has career problems and flies back home and encounters her high school sweetheart. I also love second chance romances, and this one was sweet but not very convincing.

Allie had problems in Hollywood and her agent recommended her to fly back home and regroup. Her reputation went bad and she’s getting bad posts in social media. When she gets back home to her parent’s house, she finds her parents are traveling and her high school boyfriend remodeling their house.

Ten years ago, when Allie got her chance to intern in a movie, Jax was very supportive. He was all for Allie getting her chance. However, once she was selected for a TV series, she wanted him to move with her to LA and he refused. Long distance romance didn’t work for them and they broke up. The breakup devastated Jax, but he understood that they didn’t have a chance. He wanted to stay home, he was happy working in his construction company, while Allie needed to work at her craft in Hollywood.

As they keep running into each other, they sort of fall into a fling and this is where the plot turned south for me. They felt like they never fell out of love, but were marking time. Their camaraderie was intact, they knew each other perfectly, like they hadn’t spent years apart. Allie felt like she hadn’t matured much, but IMO Jax had moved on and he was now a man content in his own skin, sure of himself. Then why did he fall into the trap of reigniting a romance that had no future? It was always clear that Allie’s future is in Hollywood and Jax was happy where he was and didn’t want to leave home. So, for me, there was no compromise available and if one of the parts compromised, they were losing.

The story had no angst, no strong emotions, it just kept on flowing on a series of hookups and family reunions. It made for a mostly boring story, even though it was sweet. The heat factor was good, the romance factor meh. The end was not convincing, it didn’t feel like a really happy ending but more like one of them giving up their lifestyle for the other.

This is a really sweet reunited romance. I love the second chance romance trope and this one does it rather well. I enjoy this entire series but these can each be read as stand-alone novels. I think the hero was fantastic ... that all you can dream of kind of hero. I didn't love the heroine as much but I think the two of them together was a good match. The mix of sweet and sexy is well done in this one. There is a little bit for all kinds of readers. I really liked it and recommend this one and the series as a whole.

They both wanted different things in life the first time they were together. She wanted to chase the bright lights of Hollywood and he wanted to build a construction business. When Allison is no longer considered America’s sweetheart she returns home and encounters the one person she left behind. As a way to shade herself in a more positive light she begins dating Jax. Hardly a hardship since they dated for five years before she left for Tinseltown. Old flames never completely die out but slowly simmer in the background until they threaten to engulf them both.

America’s Sweetheart is a cute second chance romance that will make your heart skip a beat. This was a cute story about Jackson and Allie, two high school sweethearts, who were separated when Allie left to make a name for herself and now that she’s back because of a scandal, find their way back to each other. Full of sweetness, fun and a whole lot of sexy, America’s Sweetheart is a great read!
