Having read each story in the series so far, this one is my least favorite...if I could have found some redeeming qualities in Allison, I probably would have enjoyed it more. By the end I didn’t think Jackson deserved her brand of “witchiness”, he deserved so much better...though I do enjoy a reunion romance, this one just didn’t set well with me and that would be because of her character. The overall story was what kept me reading to the end.

Great book. I really enjoyed it. Second chance stories are my favorite. Fun and fast paced. I can't wait for the next book.

Good story, I love reading second chance story and I really liked Jax, but I'm just not a fan of Allie. I get wanting to follow your dreams, but the way she didn't really think about him after leaving home, until she's back home, just didn't sit well with me.

I fell in love with Jax. He was hot sexy and his take charge attitude made the pages burn up. I wasnt as warm to Nina. Overall it was a great book and a fun read.

The was a pretty good read. The writing flowed well, and I thought the characters were developed nicely. I didn't like how the book went from Jax's point of view, to suddenly switching to Allie's point of view. It was solely Jax's POV for half of the book, and then switched. It switched again towards the end. I really liked Jax. He was a genuinely good guy. I wasn't a fan of Allie for pretty much the whole book. She's shallow, and only worries about herself and her fame. How she thought that what she did was okay, and Jax was just supposed to play along was beyond me. She did redeem herself in the end, and I enjoyed their HEA.

I loved this book so much!!!! I will be honest, I am not much on tv and movie stars in the romances I usually read. But with second chance romances being one of my favorite tropes I decided to give it a whirl. Man am I glad I did!! I fell in love with the characters! The writing that Ms Lemmon does with this book was amazing! She really draws her readers into the stories and characters. This has been true for many of her books I have read.

America's Sweetheart is a sweet story. A reunion.
Jax and Allison come full circle in the beginning as high school sweethearts. As different paths are taken leading to different experiences they ultimately reunite back to the ONE.

Good story

America's Sweetheart is the fifth book in the Real Love series. It's a standalone story that has characters from earlier books making a quick appearance but you don't need to have read the others to enjoy this one.

The story is told in first person point of view with most of the first half told by Jackson and the second by Allison. The copy I read was an uncorrected pre-publication file so I'm going to assume that the one thing that bothered me throughout was corrected. When the story switched from Jackson to Allison, or vice versa, there wasn't any indication at the begining of the chapter. It was a bit distracting but not really something that took me out of the story.

I love second chance stories and this is a pretty good one. Allison and Jackson were high school sweethearts until Allison moved to Los Angeles to take a summer job with her aunt. The job turned into the opportunity of a lifetime to act in a TV show. Jackson didn't want to move to L.A. and they eventually broke up.

Fast forward 10 years and Allison has returned to Columbus in disgrace. Jackson now has is own remodeling company and is working on her parent's home. When she opens the door to the house both of them are shocked to see the other there.

America's Sweetheart is a fairly fast paced story about two former lovers getting reacquainted and discovering that there is still more than just a spark between them. We find out the true story behind Allison's disgrace and how the she and Jackson manage to work things out between them so that they can get their HEA.

I've really enjoyed reading this series. It's been fun for me, not just because Jessica Lemmon wrote it, but because it's set in the city where I was born, raised and lived for 58 years. The references to places in Columbus are generic enough that nothing seemed to really be wrong. I am curious, though, about one of Jackson's favorite places called Little Town. Since I've never heard of a place called that in Columbus I'm guessing that it's a made-up location which is perfectly fine since this, after all, is fiction. 😊

A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

The sexy, sweet memories of first love! They were high school sweethearts, destined to spend their lives together ... until she changed the game plan and decided to become a star. Now she's back, he's better than ever and she finds herself doubting whether it was all worth it or not. The characters were well developed and quick to grab my attention. She was hard to like, but Jax was enough of a sweetheart to carry the load and make up for her unlike-ability. A fast moving plot and just generally a fun story!

When young Allison Murphy left her home on the East Coast all those years ago to make it big in Hollywood, she never expected to one day be returning home in disgrace as her face is splashed all over the tabloids. Now thanks to the lies told by an ex, that's exactly what's happening! She thinks a little comfort in the arms of her parents will do wonders for her wounded soul, but arrives home to the love of her life who she left behind all those years ago instead!

Jackson Burke agreed to do a big remodel for Allison's parents while they were away, but had no clue their daughter would be returning home during the time he and his crew are there. He can't deny that just seeing her is like another knife to his heart, but when photographers catch them sharing a moment and it's now spreading around that she's found a new love, he reluctantly agrees to help her pull off a ruse ... but he's going to be guarding his heart around every corner!

Jessica Lemmon adds a sexy, sweet and heartwarming story to her Real Love series with the tale of high school sweethearts Jackson Burke and Allison Murphy who grew up and grew apart but life gave them a second chance at once in a lifetime love.

Allison dreams of leaving her small hometown and even though she left Jackson behind, she never looked back until years later when her Hollywood star is being tainted and the only refuge she can think of is within the safety of her childhood home. She never imagined Jackson Burke would opening the door and floodgates of their past.

To Jackson, Allison had been his first in many things, including his first and only love. Even though he tried to move forward with his life, having her back home is bringing back not so forgotten feelings. Though he’s older and wiser and won’t let her break his heart again, he can still have some sexy fun with her while she’s in town.

Jessica Lemmon knows how to write fun and flirty stories and America’s Sweetheart was no exception. Though I wasn’t a fan of Allison and her selfishness I adored Jackson. He wasn’t just a hot and sexy hero, a successful business owner, he’s sweet and caring and impossible not to fall for.

America’s Sweetheart is book #5 of the Real Love series by Jessica Lemmon. It is a standalone second chance, contemporary romance. It is lighthearted and fun, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Eh... this book was just okay for me. I struggled with the characters and the constant change in POV without warning. Literally all the notice provided to the reader was a blank line and then the POV was changed. It was annoying because it always took me a few sentences to figure out who was talking.

The characters were great, just not very likable. The ending was very predictable... nothing special.

A small town girl heads to California to make it big leaving her high school/college sweetheart behind. I’ve read this story before. It ends with broken hearts, hurt feelings, and issues. The difference with this one is that Allison, aka Nina, and Jackson never got over each other. They tried, they pretended but as soon as Allison walks into her parent's house while trying to escape the gossip of the showbiz world and sees Jackson all the feelings come back. The attraction is instantaneous, the feelings come out from behind the walls that were hiding them, and there is no doubt that Allison and Jackson did not forget about each other.

I love Jackson’s sister. She was the only one in Allison’s hometown that wasn’t in awe of her being a movie star, the only one that didn’t welcome her back with open arms and it is all because Allison broke Jackson’s heart when she left him behind. I loved how protective, how loving, and how respectful she was of Jackson and his relationship with Allison. She was definitely one of my favorite characters.

Allison was eh. She left the small town, came back to hide out, and the devised a plan with her agent to get her back in the good graces of the public. I realize that probably is part of being in the public eye but I am truly of the belief that the public will believe what they want no matter what the truth is. I hated that she pulled Jackson into the plan. Jackson was better than Allison. At least he knew that what his feelings were and were realistic in what their future held. He knew that Allison would have to go back to California and he was willing to put himself on the line to help her out even though there was the chance she would break his heart again.

America’s Sweetheart was a fun book to read. It was quick and easy. The perfect book to lose yourself in for a short time.

Such a sweet second chance romance. I love when high school sweethearts find each other again. And the hero, Jackson, is very sweet and sexy. Great book!

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

A story that begins with two people talking about the future while they are in college and Allison telling Jackson that there is a change in the plans. She is going to California for the summer to intern for her aunt and then come back. That come back home is ten years later, and is after her picture is all over the rags with her looking like she is trying to steal an Oscar from a party she went to with her so called boyfriend. Now leaving L.A. she is supposed to be at a rehab place instead she decides to go home. Home is Ohio and at her home is Jackson Burke, who was hired to remodel her parents’ bedroom and deck. Also they are gone on vacation, she of course knows none of this. The last person she expects to see is the first person she does and that is Jackson. The story from there works thorough both of their issues from the past and you find out that really neither one of them has been able to move forward with anyone else. Allison finds Jackson as the only real person she has dealt with in years and Jackson realizes that she is the one. When he tells her she is shock and does not know if it is for all of the cameras that were there or if it was real. Now find out what really happens by reading this wonderful story. The other characters in the book are good as well.

Second chance romance is usually one of my least favorite tropes but I actually really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between the two was adorable. The author is quickly becoming one of my favorites because her books are so grounded. I was a little thrown off by the ending of him proposing on the red carpet but overall I liked the book.

know there are alot of second chance romance books available but Jessica Lemmon has outdone herself with America's Sweetheart that makes this one on the top of the best list. America's Sweetheart should, without doubt, be available in every readers Kindle library, it is probably one of best, if not the best, from Jessica Lemmon! While it is part of the Real Love series by Lemmon, it can certainly be read as a standalone without feeling as if the reader is missing something. Allie moved to Los Angeles 10 years ago by taking a chance on an opportunity as an actress. But, in following her dream to be famous & make it Hollywood, the price being the loss Jackson & Allie's longterm romance that started when they were high school sweethearts & carried on throughout college. But with that decision so many things changed for Allie; the change from small town girl to big city girl, the change to a new career, and as a result a change in name from Allie who will now be known as Nina & the change in their relationship, or the end to their romance because Nina & Jackson together never stood a chance 10 years ago mostly due to Jax's responsibilies but the story provides alot of changes personally too. However, the one thing that doesn't change is Jackson's love for Allie. When Nina (AKA Allie) goes through a rough patch & feels everyone has turned on her, she runs right back to her parents house in her hometown. But, fate intervenes when she literally runs into Jackson who's doing remodeling on her parents house while they vacation in Italy. These two have alot to work through when they try to navigate a fake relationship in an attempt to fix her career. But, after 10 years they didn't seem to loose their connection & their sizzlin chemsitry is still smoldering, they soon find out its hard to decipher between what they are doing for the fake relationship & what feeling are real. We can feel the chemistry as evidenced by their sexy encounters but can they work through all the rough patches, the hurt egos? What happens when Jackson thinks Allie may be 'acting for the camera's when his own feelings are all in & very real. America's Sweetheart is certainly a page turned & one read you won't be able to put down. Definitely Recommend One-Clicking to follow Jackson & Allie's amazing journey!
Even though I received an advance copy, ARC, from the publisher & author through NetGalley, I am voluntarily leaving this voluntary review.

This is a extremely heartwarming, sweetly sexy and action packed second chance romance filled with betrayal, mistrust, undeniable passion and a chemistry you can not turn you back on..... I loved it!!!

Allison begins in this story as a not so likeable person but evolves as things happen that are out of control devastating for the career she loved.... Jackson is so charming, sexy, sweet, strong and just has a huge heart that never really let go of his first love.... could not put it down!

Allison and Jackson fall in love at a young age, but Allison's goal of becoming an actress causes the couple to split as she travels to LA and he stays in Ohio. Allison becomes a TV star, and Jackson owns his own construction company. When Allison gets burned by her off-screen boyfriend, she flees home to find Jackson working on her parent's home. The sparks fly, and they have a second chance romance.

As high school sweethearts, Allison and Jackson had the world at their feet. After graduating high school, they ventured on to college where they both studied business. While Jackson worked hard to earn a degree so he could one day venture out on his own, Allison was not satisfied. Allison was always the more artistic of the two and had dreams of "making it big" in Hollywood. When Allison's aunt offers her the opportunity of a summer internship, she jumps at it! She and Jackson know this could be her big break. Not wanting to lose Allison but not wanting to hold her back, Jackson encourages Allison to take the internship. They decide to try a long distance relationship...

After ten years of avoiding every gossip magazine featuring the love of his life, Jackson has a surprise guest at his remodel job. America's Sweetheart is making headlines and not in the good way! So Allison, aka Nina, escapes to her childhood home. Upon entering her parents house, she's surprised to find Jackson. No longer friends, they make a pact to be "friendly". But one kiss leads to another...

While I truly enjoyed this novel, I found myself wanting to smack Allison upside the head! She comes home and acts like what you'd imagine a spoiled actress to act like. I was glad to see her slowly transform and relearn to appreciate her blessings. Jackson was kind, patient, and an extremely good listener (influence) on Allison. Overall, it was a light, easy, and enjoyable read. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

This is the 5th book in the Real Love series. I have actually only read the 4th one and I still really enjoyed this one. The main characters in the 4th one- Barrett and Catarina do make an appearance in this one, so that was super fun! We did meet Jackson Burke in the 4th one.

I’m not usually a fan of second chance romances, but I really enjoyed this one. Allie and Jax dated in high school and part of college, she becomes a celebrity, and they break up. But, 10 years later, after a scandal, Allie returns to her hometown to recover, only to find her ex, Jax, in her parent’s home. It was a really terrible situation she was put in. I felt horrible for her. This was not a usual celebrity romance trope. It is a dual point of view, but there’s really no indication of where it changes, so that was a bit confusing, but I was able to piece it together quickly. I loved Jax. He was a really great guy and I really enjoyed Allie’s character.

The whole story was so well done and I loved it! Highly recommend!
