This is book 3 in the Hidden Justice series by Cara Putman. Just like before, this book did not disappoint! I have absolutely loved this series! I'll be honest, I tend to shy away from books with sensitive topics like this in them. I'm afraid I'll get too many details, and have horrible nightmares! However, the way Putman handles this topic is superb. She has a way of making you fall in love with a character, and empathize with them. Because what Jaime experienced is reprehensible, you quickly find yourself rooting for her to see justice served on her uncle. I really loved how she shows the healing power of God, and how He can truly give freedom to those who have experienced these traumas. There's drama, suspense, and a little romance all in this book. While I can't say from experience, in my opinion, I believe she did a wonderful job portraying what must go through the minds of those who have experienced sexual abuse. She shows the struggle to let true love in, mentions the therapy Jaime needed to be strong enough to confront her past, the struggle to trust any man, etc. It will capture your interest from the beginning, and you'll be rooting for Jaime the entire way through. I know I was! I truly loved this book, and can't wait to read even more of Putman's books! I highly recommend this entire series!

Delayed Justice by Cara Putnam was a great sequel to Imperfect Justice. I’m loving this series. It’s about a group of friends, who also happen to be lawyers, located in the heart of our nation’s capital and each story is filled with intrigue, suspense and a tad bit of romance. I love that the author uses real landmarks in the city which puts me right in the action. I feel as though I’m not only a friend, but close enough to experience the emotions felt.

This book drew me in with the subject matter, but it was the underlying spiritual element that while subtle, kept me thinking about the characters long after I closed the last page. The characters were developed well and I could feel the emotions, not just with the main characters but the secondary characters as well.

While this book is part of a series, it can also be read as a stand-alone novel. I am really enjoying this author and cannot wait to read the next in this series.

As much as I tried I just couldn't get into this book. I found it difficult to read so stopped at about the chapter 10 mark. It just didn't draw me in, the characters were plentiful and perhaps that was the issue, instead of developing characters there were so many it was just to much.

This book is in a series, but stands alone just fine. This author had done an awesome job of making a legal suspense thriller. It tackles, in depth and without the wrong details, a horrible issue. Things happening to a child that should never happen. Children aren't supposed to be sexual abused, but many are. Jamie has been through the years of help to get to where she is now. Faith is not forgotten at all, as God isn't left out of this author's books. I found the healing and resolution in the book to be uplifting in the midst of a topic that is difficult on our best days. Well done!

Thanks to Net Galley for my digital copy of this book. This review is my own, with my thoughts about this book. A positive review is never required.

AND

This is the third book in the series and it's a 5-star read. I just had to put that there, up front. Able to stand on its own, this book covers a major issue; revenge for being molested as a child. While very well handled, this book could trigger some of us. Even so, it's worth the read. I loved the depth and emotions that were shown and the inclusion of the Chronicles of Narnia. (That's one of my favorites!)

This is a very emotional and raw read, filled with faith, hope, healing, and forgiveness. God and Jesus are clearly shown and even though reading it hurt at times, it's a suburb story, written with compassion and lots of realism.

Thank you to Celebrate Lit for my copy of this book. My review, including my thoughts and opinions about this book, are my own, left of my own free volition.

I feel I may be in the minority here but sadly this book wasn’t a favourite of mine.

My preference is something a bit more gritty however it was lovely to discover the great work and comfort that assistance dogs can provide.

I didn’t appreciate there was a Christian element through it. Again not my usual style.

3 stars

What a journey you are about to begin as you turn these pages, now this is the third book in this series, but they can all stand alone, with some recurring characters.
With this story, actually there are three stories here, in a way related, but different, and you will become engrossed in all, and want answers, and hope all these characters will survive, you will soon care a lot about them.
There are some very deep subjects here, and you will be jumping with fear, and then you will fall in love with a beautiful, smart dog. I wanted to get to the end of the book to know all the answers, but at the same time I didn’t want to leave, a real page-turner.

Five-star read about the immensely important topic of child sexual abuse. Ms Putman is going to be on my auto-follow from now on because of this series.

Jaime Nichols finally feels strong enough to find and use her voice to demand the justice for the abuse she had suffered as a young child. This is not going to be easy. Yet - the healing waits on the end of this difficult journey.
Also - there is a child wounded, needing Jaime's help. And help of the comforting dog Aslan. Aslan belongs to military veteran Chandler, whom Jaime tries to brush off - but this guy is somehow staying. But can a "marked by abuse" woman has a future with a man?

Beautiful, sensitive and touching read. Ms Putman is not sugarcoating, but acknowledging the reality of trauma, pain and shame the victims so often feel. Her touch is honest yet comforting, offering standing together for healing and justice. And for the protection for other victims.

Jaime's story is powerful and one of the most touching I have read in the realm of Christian fiction.
Chandler's story has a smaller place here (and I am thankful for that, as Jaime's pain and healing thus gets all the place needed), yet he has his own demons to face.
And he is one precious guy for being here to stay, fully knowing that this journey and woman might not be the easiest one, but the one well worth it.

This series is simply truly good - in the pulse of the nowadays topics, empathical, frank and healing; never backing down from the hard conversations, but offering deeply thought of and compassionately felt companionship. Which makes for deep, fascinating and engaging read, masterfully combining the must-talk difficult topics with lighter tones of female touch. And some essential oils gently present in the background!

Very much recommended read.

Delayed Justice is a captivating and sometimes chilling story of a woman's desire to be rid of the shadows that haunt her. Jamie’s story is like that of many women and how she handles herself as she faces what she hid from for years with determination. Even when doubts plagued her, she stood firm, relying on the support of those around her and loved her.

Delayed Justice comes at a time when our country is hurting and struggling with current events. I think we could all take a note from the pages in this story. If we call on the Lord to heal our hearts, He will answer. Through Him, we can face the shadows and shine His light on the darkened corners.

My Rating: 3 and 1/2 stars since I felt that the pacing was too fast when it wasn't very suspenseful until the end.

My Recommendation: 17/18 up because of the subjects mentioned in this book though it may be better that you skip this one if you are bothered by mentions of rape and abuse... If I didn't have to review the book I may have skipped this one.

My Favorite Character/s: Aslan! He's just so sweet and adorable and helpful!

My Thoughts: Well, this is one harsh book! I was sickened art most off the things that happened but that's to be expected with the book being about what it is about. The healing for the characters was perfect though the ending was too fast and sudden for my liking. And as always I enjoyed seeing the characters from former books.

I received a copy of this book inn exchange for my honest review and am truly happy to provide it.

Delayed Justice is one of my favorite books so far for 2019. While Jaime’s backstory is heartbreaking, it was handled with extraordinary grace and sensitivity. There are not many authors who can take on the challenge of writing about child abuse and write it in such a way as it is portrayed in Delayed Justice.

The heartfelt reactions and emotions of the characters will reach through the pages and make you long to take care of all their problems. Jaime’s refusal to accept the presence of a loving God is understandable, and her friends’ refusal to give up on her shows the true meaning of friendship.

Chandler is probably the best male character ever. If I was creating awards, he would win (maybe I’ll do that just for fun). I’m going to use the phrase beautifully broken for both Jaime and Chandler. Neither of them has had the easiest life, and they both chose to use their past to help others.

The writing was beautiful, with excellent setting and characters that could have walked right off the page and out into real life. Also, best ending ever! I think I actually clapped my hands.

I received a copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to leave a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I like this series a lot but I struggled to get into this book. This book just didn't have enough thrills for me to want to keep reading. A decent thriller but not an edge of your seat thriller.

The third in Cara Putman’s Hidden Justice series, Delayed Justice delivers Jaime’s story, a story I have been eagerly waiting to read. With the expected blend of legal drama, suspense, friendship, personal growth, and romance, it is a page-turner from the start, but quickly fills with details that prove entirely too relevant, given recent news. Though the heartbreaking moments abound, Putman balances them with moments humorous, heartwarming, and wholly hopeful. (It definitely doesn’t hurt that Chandler Bolton and his dog, Aslan, are true gems.) A story of courage, justice, and faith, Delayed Justice is well worth the read. I recommend it!

For a number of years I was a student aid at the elementary school my son went to. I worked with special education children and I saw child abuse in many different forms through the lives and actions of children. I am so glad Cara Putman wrote this book dealing with what happens when an adult presses charges against her abuser as a child. Though this story is fiction, my heart was literally breaking for Jaime, because she represents thousands of children today who are, or who have been, in real life situations such as what the character Jaime went through. If only each of us who care could take one child out of abusive living conditions and raise them with the love they deserve. But since we can’t, my prayer is for Delayed Justice to help as many adults and children as possible, come through their horrible situation.

Dane, Jaime’s abuser was a powerful, evil man that would do anything in his power to get revenge and clear his name. Ms. Putman does such an amazing job with her expert writing of this book that it seemed so real, the characters, both good and evil popped out at me from the pages and I really felt I was living inside this story. I even wanted to pray for Jaime I was so heartbroken for her. And yes I was heartbroken for what she has been through, but I was also so very proud of her that she was willing to fight the battle she knew was coming from her uncle, because she wanted to see justice for him, and keep him from harming others. And may her strong will and courage help those in real life make the same heroic choice as she did.

Jaime’s uncle Dane was clearly powered by satan because of his evil heart, but praise the Lord our God is all powerful and We must pray daily for Him to put these evil men to justice. And I could keep on and on forever about this book but I’ve only touched the surface. Only told the main facts of the story. The rest you will find when you read this amazing story from on of my new favorite authors, Cara Putman. I highly recommend this book!! Everyone needs to read this story!

In book three of this series, Jamie finds herself with a new work path. As she has finally decided to step up to a wrong in her past, she finds herself with more backlash and peril than expected. She also finds herself in a new role as she helps out a young child and works with a neighbor and his therapy dog in helping the child.
I really liked seeing Jamie work through all that was going on and learning how to do what is best for others even when it doesn't work out the best for her.

Delayed Justice is the third novel in Cara Putman’s Justice series, following Beyond Justice and Imperfect Justice. I thought Beyond Justice was excellent, but Delayed Justice is even better.

As with the other books in the series, it’s a legal thriller addressing one of the big issues of today: in this case, child sex abuse. That means it’s not an easy read. It’s not explicit, but survivors or sensitive readers might prefer to skip this one.

Twenty-eight-year-old attorney and public defender Jaime Nichols is filing charges of sexual abuse against her uncle, Dane. Unfortunately, Dane Nichols is up for promotion to US Army general, and he’s not well pleased with the charges.

Jaime faces multiple challenges: her natural fear of repercussions, both personal and professional. And her natural wariness around her new neighbour, a military man like her uncle. But the handsome neighbour also gives her the opportunity to help another victim, and she does have the support of her legal eagle friends.

It’s a challenging story, written with sensitivity towards Jaime and other victims. We have to believe women (and men) when they come forward with these stories. Sure, there are people who make them up, but these are far outnumber by those who never dare come forward.

Recommended for fans of legal thrillers from authors like John Grisham or Rachel Dylan.

Delayed Justice by Cara Putman is a book you should not delay in reading!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Legal mystery thrillers and Christian genres are two of my favorite genres to read and they are beautifully combined in this book. Putman tackles a tough subject of sexual abuse in this book with very delicate hands. I thought she wrote in a very respectful manner about what a victim experiences, faces and lives with along with the hard process ahead of them of putting their lives back together. And she introduced a new topic I've never heard of - comfort dogs. Its fascinating and something I would personally like to learn more about. She also intricately writes about how God loves those who don't love themselves and how He is ultimately in control without feeling like you are reading a sermon. This is the third book in the series and I'm excited to go back and read the first two. I have found a new author to enjoy!!! Check her out!!!

My thanks to Cara Putman, Thomas Nelson Publishing and Netgalley for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

There are so many things about this book that I like, I don't even know where to begin! Let's start with the characters. Jaime has a strength in her that even she doesn't know she has, and it was amazing to watch her figure that out. We all need a voice for different reasons. Jaime needed to know she could stand up for herself and use her voice. What she didn't realize is that without the help from the Lord, she wouldn't be able to totally do it on her own. Sometimes I have mixed feelings about a character who isn't close to the Lord as a main character. For this particular story it was great, because during a time when she needed the Lord the most, she felt like He wasn't there. She had to come to the understanding that He truly was there, and how this situation helped her future in many different ways. I loved that her friends didn't give up on her, and at the same time didn't throw it in her face. They just planted seeds here and there and let Jaime know they were there for her, and so was God.

Then you have Chandler, who is delightfully swoony. He's not pushy, he's sweet and caring, and he has a dog named Aslan. I mean that fact alone is enough to make me like him! My favorite thing about him was his push for Jaime to read The Lion, Witch and The Wardrobe. Can you tell I'm a fan of the book? But seriously, what a creative way to share the gospel with someone. He was so patient with Jaime, yet pushed himself into situations when he felt it was absolutely necessary. He is certainly someone you want on your side!

I've been a fan of Cara Putnam's for a bit now, but I have to say that she really took my breath away with this story. She handled such a delicate topic beautifully. You knew exactly what Jaime went through as a child, without reading the gritty details. How Putnam managed to describe the events without really describing them was a work of art. The way she wrote Jaime's reactions to different things later in life referenced the amount of time and research she took in looking into this topic. Just having a scent bring back memories is not something I would have immediately thought of, but Putnam did. This book really shows Putnam's amazing ability as an author. I cannot wait to see what comes next from her!

Delayed Justice is a book that will keep you on your toes, keep you turning pages, and touch your heart. I highly recommend this poetic, suspenseful novel! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Delayed Justice is the third installment in the Hidden Justice series. It has a different feel from the other novels, but might be the best one yet. While not as suspense driven as the other novels, Delayed Justice dives into Jaime Nichol’s story. Abused as a child, years later Jaime has to come to terms with facing the demons of her past so she can find freedom in her future. She brings charges against her abuser, and the story evolves as Jaime discovers just how crucial faith and friends are in the healing process.

Delayed Justice deals with the ugly side of life by weaving threads of hope throughout. Cara writes deep and rich characters that engage readers on an intimate level. I enjoyed the emotionally-gripping story while watching Jaime transformation from start to finish. With the #MeToo movement in the current headlines, this story is timely and tackles the topic of sexual abuse head on while bringing hope and faith to the forefront. I definitely recommend Delayed Justice.

I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is the third in series and my first book by the author. This centers on a subject of child abuse and its long lasting effects. This is a powerful book and one that can shake you to your core. The descriptions may be to hard for some to read. I like the theme of overcoming abuse to lead a full life and starting over in life. The author shows how child abuse forms personalities later in life and the issue of trust is foremost and friendships are few . This is well written interesting plot that kept my interest until the end. Very thought provoking. .

Thank you for the ARC which does not influence my personal opinion.
