THE COTTAGE ON ROSE LANE by Hope Ramsay is the first book in the contemporary romance Moonlight Bay series. It is the story of Jenna, an heiress, trying to connect to her family she never knew in South Carolina. Jenna recently inherited a great deal of money from a grandfather she never knew existed. She was raised by a single mother, and never knew her father. Jude St. Pierre absolutely loves the open water. Whether he is sailing for enjoyment, racing, or teaching, he is happiest when at sea. When he meets Jenna, after struggling to peel his eyes off of her, he is really surprised when she asks him for sailing lessons.

I have always loved Hope Ramsay’s books and THE COTTAGE ON ROSE LANE is exactly why. She has a way of pulling you right in and never letting you go. The small harbor town of Moonlight Bay is the perfect place to live and everyone is so nice. You feel as if you are visiting with old friends and as you will soon find out, there is never a dull moment in Moonlight Bay. Make a pot of coffee, grab your favorite blanket, and get on your couch and spend the day with all the wonderful people of THE COTTAGE ON ROSE LANE! You wont be sorry you did, the only thing you will be sorry about is when it’s over and you want to keep reading.

The longer Jenna stays in town the more she falls in love with it, the more she wants to help them all, but especially Jude. Jenna is lying about who she is and why she’s there and she knows it’s only a matter of time before they find out. Hang on tight! You know THE COTTAGE ON ROSE LANE is going to be one heck of a crazy ride! There are many ups and downs and there are plenty to keep the readers wanting more and hoping for the best for these characters. I enjoyed reading about the Gullah culture and liked that Jude was working to find ways to preserve Gullah history.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Forever through Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

In Hope Ramsay's, The Cottage on Rose Lane, Jenna Fossey receives an unexpected inheritance and the chance to meet relatives she never knew existed in the town of Magnolia Harbor. However, upon her arrival, family secrets lead to more questions and Jude St. Pierre just may have some answers. Hopefully, in learning the truth, Jude can hang on to Jenna and the family he thinks of as his own.

Posted my review on Goodreads:

I received this book via NetGalley. Hope's Moonlight Bay series gets you immersed in her characters just like her Second Chance series. It was interesting seeing how Lia and Noah were going to get along, and proving the members of the Altar Ladies Guild wrong. I am glad that Noah had some closure with his father but I seriously needed Kleenex after Lia spoke with her brother!

The secondary "romance" that really isn't one, is between Micah and Ashley. I am trying to really understand her and I look forward to reading their story soon.

I would like to round up my rating to 4.5 stars :)

DNF around 45%. I have no idea why I can't get into this book! I've tried to read the ebook and listen to the audiobook (twice) and I just don't feel compelled to finish. The story setup is super intriguing in general, so I can't figure this out. Maybe it's just not for me. Still curious about this author though!

THE COTTAGE ON ROSE LANE BY HOPE RAMSAY BOOK REVIEW
The Cottage on Rose Lane is a wonderful story about how we are all intertwined & everyone is connected.

LOTS OF CHARACTERS
I’ll admit, The Cottage on Rose Lane takes a bit of a setup. Hope Ramsay introduces us to many characters. While it took me a while to get them all straight, I’m glad I did. Magnolia Harbor is a great town & I loved getting to know the residents.

MANY FAMILY SECRETS
As Jenna arrives in Magnolia Harbor, she starts to uncover secrets. I’m not just talking about a few white lies either. There are some deep-rooted family secrets long hidden. Just as Jenna uncovers one secret, two more questions are revealed. Lies that were told in the past are no longer hidden. Jenna keeps digging to get to the bottom of the story. In the end, all the secrets are revealed.

THE VERDICT
I am Really Into This book! The Cottage on Rose Lane will make a fantastic TV series. I sure hope Hope Ramsay is able to continue on with these characters. With The Cottage on Rose Lane, Hope Ramsay opens up a world of possibilities. There are so many more places these characters and storylines can go.

Special thanks to Hope Ramsay, Read Forever & NetGalley for providing our copy in exchange for an honest & fair review.

This is a new series by an old favorite author. Set in South Carolina, Moonlight Bay series is a docu-history of the Gullah, Blacks who live on the islands on the coast. Jenna comes to the area searching for her roots, she has just inherited a large business and millions from a father she never knew. Jude St. Pierre has lived all his life on the island and isn't expecting to find love from an off-islander. This is a bi-racial love story with family prejudice on both sides.I enjoyed the history of the area andd the faxts presented about sailing and boats. I'm looking forward to the next book. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Good stories that involve small towns and the start of something new are great values to have in books. The Cottage on Rose Lane is exactly that. When Jenna Fossey comes to Magnolia Harbor ready to claim an inheritance that comes out of the blue, she is ready to start anew, but family secrets and the eye of her sexy sailing instructor will turn something so simple into a complex mystery and possible reason to remain on Rose Lane. A surprisingly fun story that made me smile and laugh while rooting for the couple to finally say those three little words.

I have read many books by Hooe Ramasay. This book felt different for me. I love the southern feel to her stories, but this fell flat for me. Thank you netgalley for gifting me the arc of this book. The review is soley my opinion

Jenna inherits from family in South Carolina she never knew. The Cottage on Rose Lane is a story of family secrets plus sailing along with local culture. It's a good informative and engaging read. It's mysterious but charming. Perfect for a relaxing weekend read. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a good story about finding what you really wanted. I can't say I would have gone about it the way Jenna did but she had a good heart. I understand the way the "southern women" treated her but I would not have been so nice if they were that mean. Patsy was nice one second then nasty the next and the Uncle I'm not sure I would want to be related to him. Jude was a good guy most of the time but he needed to step up and tell his Daddy he was taking over the business... Anyone that drinks like his father had no business being on the water.

A nice tale, good characterization. I love the way local lore was woven through the plot. It was also very interesting to learn aspects of the Gullah culture. I do wish, however, that the author had provided better context for the what Gullah phrases used meant, because I couldn't always tell, which detracted from the story for me.

Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of Hope Ramsay and I once had one of her books as my star reads. So imagine my surprise when I heard that she was starting a new series. I rushed at the chance to get my hands on anything Hope related, but……. Yeah……I did not enjoy this story very much. 😔

As I stated before, this is a new series and the first installment is about Jenna, lonely woman who just inherited a huge chunk of money, and Jude, a sailor with a heart of gold who just wants to keep his culture and family land relevant. Jenna has come to town to meet her long lost relatives when she eyes Jude in all of his sailor glory. She boldly approaches him and ask for sailing lessons. Completely thrown by this request, Jude reluctantly agrees and this pushes the story into motion. The one interesting thing that I found out about this story is the race dynamic and the rich culture. Jenna is a white woman while Jude is bi-racial with a white mother. Jude has trouble trusting Jenna because his mother walked out on the family when he was a young boy. Their relationship begins to blossom during sailing lessons and I was there for it. The one major element of this book is Jenna meeting her long lost aunt and uncle, but she wants to do it anonymously. Jenna really sticks out like a sore thumb because one, she is a buddhist and two, she is a tourist that attends town meetings. Weird, right? Just like any small town, there is gossip, tight knit families and old ghost stories to give this town its charm.

This was a different type of read for me because it was about sailing. Obviously the author did her research for this book, but I was completely lost and she really went into detail about sailing. It pulled me out of the story and I did not connect with Jenna as a character. She was hell bent on her mission and I appreciated her determination, but some of her decisions made no sense. Jude was the good part about this book. His character had heart and he wanted to save his heritage and his family business. This aspect of the book was heartwarming and the family dynamic was a nice touch to an otherwise boring story.

Surprisingly, I was not a huge fan of this story and it was missing that chemistry and intensity that Hope Ramsay usually brings. If you like sailing, pick it up. Grab your book and have at it.

After the death of an unknown family member, Jenna is left with more money then she knows what to do with. When she finds out that she has some long last family member she decides to go to Magnolia Harbor to learn more about her fathers death and see about getting close to her only living relatives. Jude is less then thrilled when he is asked for sailing lessons, so he asks for a unreasonable price hoping to get her to back off. Not only was she able to pay him for it, over time they managed to squirm their way into each others hearts.

This book was such a sweet and interesting book. I enjoyed the characters and getting both Jenna's and Jude's point of view. I enjoyed seeing how different their lives where and seeing how they helped better one another. Jenna was sort of lost and even with all the money she could possibly have there was no type of meaning. Jude on the other had was tied to his drunkard father and little to no help from others. There was ups and there was downs and there are plenty to keep the readers wanting more and hoping for the best for these characters. I really enjoyed this book. I also liked the little novella that was at the ending of this book as well.

I really enjoyed this book I received through Netgalley. It's the story of Jenna, an heiress, trying to connect to her family she never knew in South Carolina. It's got drama, love, history, sailing and great characters.

An intriguing story! With the kick off of a sweet romantic series, we head down south to a coastal town filled with locals and their way of life. There's a nice tutorial of sailing throughout the story as the characters bond on the water and set out to find the answers she's come looking for about her father. There's a good set up for future books in the series by the time the story ends. Enjoyed it!

When Jenna Fossey discovers unknown details about the father she never knew, she travels to Magnolia Harbor, South Carolina to learn more about he man who died before she was born. An inheritance from a grandfather she didn't know about led to her discovery of a branch of family she didn't know existed. Alone now that her mother recently passed, she is hungry for a connection with more family ... but are they interested in meeting her?

Jude St. Pierre is not expecting the beauty who approaches him about sailing lessons, but he decides to humor her with a couple of jaunts out onto the water to see what she's doing in town, and if it has anything to do with the suspicious timing just as he's trying to get some of the old family homesteads declared historical and rescued from destruction. He's hesitant to trust her, but when he learns the secret of why she's truly there, he hopes she will find the answers she's hoping for before too much heartbreak can hit her.

I love Hope Ramsay’s books, This one did not disappoint. Jenney arrives in Magnolia, South Carolina under a different last name to find out what happened to her father, who died in a sailing accident. She meets Jude St. Clair who helps her learn about sailing. In the beginning, he makes it difficult for her.
She has received an inheritance from her grandfather and every time she tries to do good it backfires.
I can’t wait to read the next Hope Ramsay book. I received an advanced copy from NetGalley. My review is my own.

The Cottage on Rose Lane by Hope Ramsay is one of those books that sneaks up on you. The story is intricate and complex and before you know it you’ve spent half a day sailing in the South Carolina Low Country with Jenna and Jude. While there is romance, there is also a man and a woman trying to figure out who they are and what matters in life. I alternately laughed and cried while reading. Jude has two brothers, so I hope there is more to come.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

I love Hope Ramsey books and this is no exception. She has wonderful romance books. I hope there will be more books based on Jonquil Island featuring Jude’s brothers. I loved Jude and Jenna. They each had some problems to work through before they could really belong together. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
