A Bride for Prince Paul was a sweet romance for which I received an eArc in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. The reader is allowed to see how the machinations of a leader's plans to protect his country affect the lives of those are including in those plans. Rensy Island is on the cusp of losing its beloved ruler, Prince Edward, who is very ill. His grandson, Prince Paul is next in line for the throne. If he is not married before taking the throne the country reverts to being under the rule of another kingdom, that is unless his other grandson who is married and does have children does take the throne. Unfortunately, he is not quite fit to lead a country and its people. Paul wants to honor his grandfather's wishes since Prince Paul was so good to Paul and his siblings. He is prepared to at least meet the woman and try to do his duty.

Dr. Amy is a pediatrician who has worked hard to become a physician and has accepted a fellowship at Harvard Medical and she is dating a fellow physician who has accepted a position in Rhode Island and she is quite hopeful that after 4 years he is ready to ask her to marry him. After yet another disappointment from Scott, Amy has decided to go on her vacation to Paris without him and her mother Heather is tagging along. It is great timing since Heather's mom has confirmed that all the wacky stories Amy's paternal grandmother told about castles and royalty in her family it turns out to be true. The ruler of Renys, Prince Edward has gifted Amy with a mansion due to her lineage in one of the royal families. Amy just happens to be the royal that Prince Edward has in mind to help Paul rule the country after Prince Edward is gone. Paul has to do his part and convince Amy that it is a good idea to marry him and Paul has decided that the best way to do this is to get Amy to fall in love with him and he has the Parisian backdrop to help him convince her. It is warm, sweet pretty clean romance and I look forward to each of the modern royals' stories that are forthcoming. I usually enjoy romances with an incognito prince and a commoner heroine. However, this book just didn't do anything for me. I found it hard to buy into the fact that Prince Paul would fall in love in just one week and that Dr. Amy would fall for Paul just having ended a relationship with her ex. Also, the fact that Amy didn't do any research on who Paul really was didn't sit well with me. The whole concept felt forced and I had to really work at finishing this book. I was given a free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
