Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Maddie lives with her mum, dad and stoner big brother Robbie. The best way to describe her is a seven-year-old force of nature. Trouble seems magnetically drawn to her, usually with disastrous but always funny results.

If I could give this more than five stars I definitely would. Whilst Maddie doesn't bear any resemblance to any seven year old I know (and I have one of those at home) she is an hilarious creation. I have never laughed out loud at a book as much as this one. The mix ups, misunderstandings and disasters never stop coming. I'm really hoping for a sequel!

This was a fun, light hearted read. It follows a year in the life of the larger-than-life Maddison, a 7 year old with a big knack for getting into scrapes. She is also the narrator so we see everything from her perspective, including her misinterpretations of words and situations. I found it genuinely amusing and really enjoyed it. The rest of the family were quite entertaining too, especially her parents and their attempts to deal with the chaos Maddison brings.

I enjoyed this book, the story itself is entertaining, funny and Maddison's attempts to be good so she can obtain her longed for Christmas gift kept me going until the end of the book. In one respect however, it is quite a challenging read as it is written from the perspective of a small child who spells phonically, mispronounces many words and also has a lisp. This meant I had to re-read sentences or paragraphs to check my understanding and I can appreciate that some readers might find this a little off-putting. If you can cope with that, then the story of Maddison and her family is endearing, humorous and satisfying. Thank you to NetGalley & the publishers for allowing me to read and advance copy of the book.

Narrated by a 7-year-old child. An amusing, funny, great novel.

This is my first Did Not Finish in a long time.

The book is written from the perspective of a mischievous 7 year old, which makes for some entertaining storytelling and parts of it are very relatable! However as a result of this perspective, the book, which is almost entirely dialogue, is written in the colloquial manner of a 7 year old with a lisp. And I just struggled too much as a result of this - I found it really distracting.

The fact that it's about 90% dialogue also makes it hard to follow at times - there is no indicator of who is saying what other than the context. Even the odd "said mum", "I said" etc would be massively helpful here.

Spellings like "comfyskate" and "proply" are all over the place as a result and it just took me out of the story rather than immersing me in it. Add on to that the fact that almost every "s" is followed by a "th" - eg. "wasthn't", "jigsawsth" and "coursthe" and it was just too much for me.

It is entertaining, however, hence a 2 star rather than 1 star review, despite it being a DNF.

Thanks to Troubadour Publishing and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This charming and funny novel is narrated by a 7 year old, which I loved! I found this unique perspective to be interesting, as children see things differently than adults, no matter how mature they are. This was a great read!

This was a fun, heart warming read.
Very funny and charming with a lovable narrator. Loved the idea of having a 7 year old narrate this story
