This is not your mama's Danielle Steel. This is Danielle Steel on steroids. Ms Steel is like a fine wine. She gets better with age and Beauchamp Hall is direct proof.

This was an extremely entertaining read. I really enjoyed the setting, the small English village, and the Beauchamp Hall set. It was nice seeing Winnie follow her dreams and become a success, since she was really taken for granted most of her life. A lovely, feel-good story.

It's been a long time since I've read a Danielle Steele novel and this one had all the things that I loved about her previous writings (heartbreak, romance, personal growth, and feel good/happy ending). However I don't think I'll be reaching for a Danielle Steele novel as my next go to book. I feel that I've evolved as a reader and detest repetitive and very basic, formulaic writing. I wish Danielle Steele's writing had evolved as well...

In Danielle Steel's Beauchamp Hall, this contemporary romance is enchanted and legendary like a fairy tale. For Winona "Winnie" Farrington, she had once of dreams of being published in New York. But life had gotten in her way when she took of her mother. After she died, she had been stuck in a dead-end job for 11 years in Beecher, Michigan, and having a stale relationship with her boyfriend Rob that never went anywhere. When she received the white elephant gift of a set of DVDs from "Beauchamp Hall", a British series like PBS's hit "Downtown Abbey", from her best friend Barb, it changed and transformed her life and became addicted to it ever since. But things changed for her, when she was passed over for a promotion in her job and she caught Rob and Barb in her bed. On a whim after she nursed a double heartbreak and betrayal, she travels to England to visit the show and made new friends along the way. She also worked behind the scenes as an assistant and fell in love with Nigel, a sound tech who was once a dream. But when he was drunk and got jealous, he was a nightmare as the romance fizzles out to a crescendo. Behind the camera, life wasn't what it cracked up to be when they dealt with a loss of a star and then scandals that disrupted the show. When the producers couldn't fix the storyline issues, they decided to cancel the show, while it had put the Haversham Castle in jeopardy where Lady Beatrice and her brother Freddie lived. They made money from the show. But to prevent them from going into a despair, Winnie dreamed of an idea to help save it after the show ended. And with Bea and Freddie's consent, it transformed her world forever as she moved forward and had found her own dream come with a surprise romance for a happy ending.

Winona (Winnie) Farmington realizes she is stuck in a rut. She left college and returned home to a small Michigan town to care for her sick mother. She now feels stuck in a dead-end job, with a going-nowhere relationship, so she hides behind binge-watching a British TV show, Beauchamp Hall, set in the 1920’s. The show, a sort of upstairs-downstairs drama, provides just the right amount of characterization, plots, ideas and excitement she needs. When Winnie is passed over for a promotion she long deserved and is betrayed by her boyfriend and best friend, she decides to chuck it all. She sells her stuff, packs her bags and flies off to the location, in Norfolk, England, where the series is filmed. Once there, just about everything she ever thought of or dreamed of converges, making her world come alive just like the show. Winnie moves into this new life exuberantly, but can she find just what dreams are made of as well as how they play out?

I have read most of Dannielle Stelle’s books. Lately, I have not been too pleased with her work. However, though I was not completely taken in by this book, I did find it a fascinatingly good read. I thoroughly enjoyed the way Winnie just jumped into life to fulfill her well-thought-out dreams. It is nice to see that happen when someone does just this, even if it is only in a book. I also enjoyed the way the author set the scene. Winnie is a rather boring girl/woman, who sits back just taking whatever life dishes out to her, until, one day, she suddenly sees life passing her by, decides to “take the bull by the horns” and plunges right into what she thinks life should be. I really liked this attitude. The author also sets a very good scene of England during that era, which I likewise enjoyed. However, there were things I found distracting. The author uses and switches between points of view, which can be confusing. Oftentimes, the story just sort of moves along, becoming just another ho-hum read, though ultimately, it does get back to being a fascinating read. There also really was not much of a plot and not a great deal of excitement/action, but I suspect the author’s goal was to bring home the idea that we all need to stop, smell the roses and possibly “take the bull by the horns” to get as much out of life as we want and can. I think this is a nice change of pace read, for anyone who, like me, is weary of the same old mysteries, thrillers or romances. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

Winona (Winnie) Farmington is at a turning point. Her life is far from what she dreamed it would be when she left her small town in Michigan to begin college. Fast forward two decades and she's in a dead end relationship and job. Fate introduces her to the TV Series, Beauchamp Hall. She ends up in England in the same little village where this TV show is filmed and life throws her another curve ball. Can this decision to visit this village change her life?

This was not what I was expecting when I picked this book up. I've read Danielle Steel for years, but I wouldn't have known she was the author without seeing her name on it. This is basically a fan fiction work for someone obsessed with Downton Abbey. I have to admit that I'm also obsessed with Downton Abbey, so this book was wonderful. It dealt with some darker issues, but managed to not feel dark and depressing. I loved the character of Winnie and her courage it took to change her life like she did. I did figure out how this book was going to end about halfway through, but it didn't dampen my enjoyment at all. Overall, I'd give it about a 3.5 out of 5. If you are a Downton Abbey fan, pick this one up. It has made me want to pull out my DVD collection!

Thanks to Delacorte Press and Netgalley for providing a copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn't really sure how to feel about this book. It seemed a bit slow and predictable. The ending felt rushed.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

I have enjoyed so many Danielle Steel books over the years. She’s been a favorite of my late Nanas too. Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. You can never go wrong with a Danielle Steel novel. No spoilers. I really enjoyed the characters and setting of this novel. It held my interest from beginning to end. This book took you on a journey and it’s one I think the Danielle Steel avid reader would enjoy.

I really, really wanted to love this book but after a few fits and starts I finally finished it and am decidedly underwhelmed. While I don't live in Michigan, I live close enough to be familiar with it and some of the little blips that were wrong kept taking me out of the story (mostly where cities relate to one another and how far they take to get to etc).

The biggest downside to this novel I felt is that the ending is just so terribly rushed and there really isn't much of a conclusion.

For this massive Downton Abbey fan, I was definitely left wanting and bewildered.

I used to read Danielle Steel's books many many years ago, then for what ever reason, I quit but last year I started reading her newer books again and I have loved every one! This book did not disappoint. If you, like me, have been wondering if Danielle Steel is still worth reading, the answer is a resounding yes! I loved Winnie and reading about her journey. How many of us love a TV show and want to visit where it is filmed? Think Downton Abbey. SO that's just what Winnie does. Highly recommend this one! (as well as all the others)

I received a free copy of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. When you're reading a book from one of the world's most famous author, you know it's going to be a worthwhile read. This story is about following your dreams and if you love Downton Abbey; you're in for a treat. This is a light, romantic read about an American girl, named Winnie, who is in a job and relationship that are both going nowhere, until a Christmas present she receives, changes everything. Watching the DVDs of a mini-series based in England in the 1920s wasn't something she was thrilled about receiving, but the next thing you know, she's packed up and jetting off to England to visit Beauchamp Hall, where the series is filmed. Winnie has found a Bed and Breakfast that is located next to the filming location and after a couple of weeks interacting with the cast and crew, she finds herself working odd jobs on the set until the inevitable happens and the series ends. What happens next is a true testament of how you can alter your own path; following your dreams and do what truly makes you happy. This is a feel good, quick read that you won't regret.

Beauchamp Hall by Danielle Steel has us traveling to Beecher, Michigan. Winona “Winnie” Farmington is thirty-eight years old, works at the local printing company and has been dating Rob for the last eleven years. At one time, Winnie was attending college and looked forward to a publishing career in New York. Then her mother became ill and Winnie left college to care for her mother. In the office white elephant gift exchange, Winnie gets a DVD set of the British television series Beauchamp Hall (pronounced Beecham). Over the Christmas holidays, Winnie is alone and starts watching Beauchamp Hall. She soon finds herself binge watching all six seasons of the show loving the period drama set in the 1920s. After the holidays, Winnie is anticipating being promoted to the open management position. When the job is given to ditzy, but sexy Elsie, Winnie has had enough and quits her job. She arrives home to find her boyfriend and best friend in her bed. Winnie makes an impulsive decision and books a flight to England. She decides to visit the estate where Beauchamp Hall is filmed and falls in love with the quaint village. Then Winnie gets an unexpected opportunity that changes her life forever. Sometimes magic happens when you follow your dreams!

Beauchamp Hall is a pleasurable way to pass an afternoon. Winnie Farmington life has been trudging along. She is in a dead end job and a boyfriend who will not commit plus he does not treat her as she deserves. Her sister, Marie is married with two kids and they are her main focus. I believe many of us can relate to Winnie and her situation. Winnie gave up her dream to care for her mother. When she loses the promotion to the woman who can barely find her way to work and discovers her boyfriend cheating with her best friend, it is the last straw (I do not blame her). I was thrilled that Winnie finally stood up for herself and set out to have some fun. I loved the descriptions of the village and Haversham Hall where Beauchamp Hall is filmed. Those who watch Downton Abbey will see the obvious similarities. Beauchamp Hall contains good writing and realistic characters. I did feel the beginning was a little long (with Winnie in Beecher) and had a slower pace. It could have been shortened and more time spent on Winnie’s adventure (which is the best part of the book). The ending felt rushed and the characters in England were not fully developed (more 2D than 3D). Beauchamp Hall is a combination romance, women’s fiction and fairy tale. I am giving Beauchamp Hall 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). It is reminiscent of Danielle Steel’s earlier works. I found Beauchamp Hall to be a delightful escape novel (we all need a diversion from reality now and then), and I enjoyed seeing Winnie get her happily ever after.

I have been reading Danielle Steel novels ever since my teen years, some I have loved, some only liked. This novel was not what I expected. Danielle Steel has the ability to weave together characters and plotline that draws her readers in. I could not put this book down once I started. Definitely a bit different type of story than her usual books, but don't think you would be disappointed in reading this one.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest opinion.

Winnie Farmington has traded her life for a dead end job in a small, rural town in Michigan, and a boyfriend who is too lazy to shovel her driveway. A pair of DVD’s won at the office Christmas party changes Winnie Farmington’s life drastically. When she finally watches the DVD’s of Beauchamp Hall, a period drama set in England, her life and attitude change. After being passed over for a promotion at her office and finding her boyfriend and her best friendin bed together, Winnie resigns and heads to England for a tour of Beauchamp Hall. The show is being filmed at Habersham Hall Winnie begins to find and create a more fulfilling life than the one she left behind. People will certainly recognize Downton Abbey similarities. This is not a typical Daniel Steel novel, with characters who are realistic and down to earth. I really enjoyed the difference that Steel shows in this novel.

Are you a fan of Downton Abbey? This book is about Winnie who is given a Christmas DVD's of a show called Beauchamp Hall. It sounds just like Downton Abbey, same time period, taking place in England at an estate with a story plot of the owners of the estate and their children plus the staff. She has a string of bad luck and decides to go to England to the village where the show is produced.
This read like my wishes to go to England and spent time in a small village. And the whole time I could only invision this as Downton Abbey. The similarity was too close to not come to that conclusion. I highly recommend anyone that enjoys anything British like I do to read this book.

So #BookLovers I finished reading #BeauchampHall by #DanielleSteele and it was good. From start to finish. I just couldn’t put it down. It was great. Winnie was a champ. It makes me want to do what she did, just pack up and go to England. But I’m more of the go to Ireland or Scotland type, LoL. I’m a country girl so the countryside will be great. I mean the story gave me all the feels and I’m not the emotional type. But this book will have you wondering what can be it did me. Makes you realize there is more out there if you just go get it. #bookobsessed #bookcommunity #readinglife #bookstagram #bookdragon #bookworm #bookaddict #booklover #bookclub #bookblogger #bookhoarder #booknerd #booksofinstagram #bookaddict #booknerdigans

Amongst my mother, Gloria, her sister and my favorite aunt, Barbara, and my other aunt, Bernice, they read and own the hardbound version of every single book Danielle Steel has ever written. Now that I've enlisted my mother into helping me keep up with book reviews, when I saw today's book, Beauchamp Hall by Danielle Steel available thanks to my book blogging relationship with NetGalley, I requested it and was approved to read and review it! Unfortunately, my mom is having eye surgery at this time, so the duty to read and review this book came upon me.

The protagonist of Beauchamp Hall is Winona Farmington who has been working in a dead end job for the past ten years in small town Michigan. Winnie gives up her dream of college and career in New York when her mother falls ill and she must care for her. Winnie spends her free time with her dull and lazy boyfriend and only does so because it's comfortable.

When Winnie finally fails to resist watching the unwanted DVD’s she won at work of a period drama filmed at Haversham Castle in England called Beauchamp Hall, a Winnie's life and attitude begin to change. She's overlooked for a promotion at her job and then has an ugly confrontation with her boyfriend and her best friend.

Winnie takes time to evaluate the current status of her life and she decides it's the perfect time to take a leap of faith. She resigns from her job, takes her savings, and heads to England for a tour of Beauchamp Hall where the show is being filmed. As the story unwinds, Winnie works to find a more fulfilling life than the one she left behind.

I felt that Winnie was a great heroine, and I really enjoyed how she began to blossom, exploring options using her own talents, providing readers with a great ending to the story. Winnie slowly came out of her shell and learned to experience life to its fullest to learn about all the things she didn't even know she was missing.

Danielle Steel definitely wrote a great novel with believable and realistic characters. I personally found the story line of Beauchamp Hall to be much lighter than some of her more current "high society" novels and I really enjoyed that aspect as well.

I was provided with a complimentary electronic advanced reader copy through Net Galley in exchange for my post. I was not required to post a positive review, but have chosen to do so because this book was great! Thank you!

Winona (Winnie) Farmington is 38 years-old and starting to realize she’s not getting any younger. When she was a child, she and her mother enjoyed so many great books together, including those of Jane Austen. She even had dreams of being a writer one day. However, after 3 years of college, she was needed at home to care for her widowed, and ailing mother. It wasn’t until 7 years later that her mother passed away. Her older sister, Marje, was some years older than Winnie, had married early, and had a family. Her mother left the house to both daughters, but Winnie continues to live in it. She has been going with Rob for 11 years. He stays at her house most nights, but all they seem to have in common is sex. Her sister wants her to get married and start a family, but Winnie is realizing she wants more. Her good friend and co-worker gave her some DVDs of a mini series that takes place in the 1920’s in England called Beauchamp Hall. She is at first skeptical of even wasting her time to watch them, but soon, she is completely hooked and watches the episodes over and over. She realizes that she and Rob have no future together and really nothing in common, so they break up. Winnie works for a printing company and does her job well. However, her boss is a royal pain and always putting her down because she’s a woman. When he passes her over on a huge promotion for a little bimbo he’s sleeping with, Winnie realizes she cannot take it any more and quits.

After a few days of taking stock of her situation, Winnie decides to use some of her savings to do what she has always wanted. She packs up to travel to England and visit the set of Beauchamp Hall. So fascinated with it all, she begins little jobs of helping on the set that lead to bigger jobs and she is having a ball. She starts dating a crew member named Nigel but before long, he seems to be like Rob she left back in the U.S. so that fizzles.

As the filming starts to wind down at Haversham Castle, Winnie is concerned how the owners of the castle will be able to make enough money to keep it up and running. When some ideas come to her, she presents them to the brother/sister duo and off they go.

I liked this story. The first part was almost boring but it finally got its punch when Winnie moved to England. I really got into it then. It was a rather pleasant change from Danielle Steel’s books where from Page One, everyone is super rich and super beautiful. Well done!

3.5 stars

Many years ago, I read every Danielle Steel book I could get my hands on. I’ve only recently picked up her books again and was excited to receive a copy of Beauchamp Hall from NetGalley.

Winona Farmington dreamed of graduating from college and moving to New York City, but things didn’t turn out as planned when she had to return home to care for her sick mother. Years later, stuck in a job she doesn’t love and an unsatisfying relationship, she consoles herself with binge-watching a British television series, Beauchamp Hall. When Winnie experiences one of the worst days she can remember, she makes an impulsive decision to fly to England to see the town where Beauchamp Hall is filmed.

While I couldn’t relate to her on a personal level, I simply liked Winnie. I found her character believable and think her circumstances will be relatable to many. This book is no mystery and you guessed right if you think it ends happily. While I enjoyed the ending, it came too quickly. Steel missed giving readers more details in the end that I believe would have made the ending more satisfying, more believable.

Beauchamp Hall was exactly what I needed … a quick read with enjoyable characters and an engaging storyline. However, the repeating of details, which I hope was cleared up with a good editing, and an ending that hit me like a freight train rather than a slow easing into the station, kept this from being a solid 4-star read.

Am I glad I read this book? Yes! Will I continue reading Steel’s books? Absolutely! I think this book will hit the right note with readers who have that one show they love. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go to the set of their favorite TV show?
