An enjoyable second chance romance! I loved Dawson from the start, but I'll admit it took me a little bit to warm up to Annabelle. The more I got to know about her, the more I liked her. She and Dawson have definitely chemistry, and I enjoyed watching them reconnect. I really enjoyed the mystery elements of the story, and that also kept me very interested! My only real complaint was the multiple POVs, specifically from the villain. I prefer when it is just the hero and/or heroine POVs, but that is just a personal preference. Looking forward to more by this author!

I so enjoyed this book very much and will look forward to reading more from you from this author thank you for my arc

Annie left Whitehorse, Montana thirteen years ago and left behind the man who she loved-the local cowboy Dawson. Now she’s back to sell the house her grandmother left her. Along with the house Annie inherited the secrets her grandmother hid from everyone. Annie wants to sell the house as soon as possible and leave the town. She didn’t expect to find the house at such bad condition and that’s when Dawson comes to her rescue. Spending time together at her grandmother’s house brings them closer to each other as well as to the secrets Annie’s grandmother had.
It’s the first book in the series and the first book I’ve read by the author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the second chance romance and the mystery around the house and Annie’s grandmother. I can’t wait to read next books in the series that follow Annie’s sisters. I’d totally recommend this book for mystery/romantic suspense readers.

This is the first book in the Clementine Sister series by B J Daniels and if this is any indication it is going to be a wonderful ride. This is the story of Annabelle "Annie" Clementine thirteen years ago she left ton to start her modelling career breaking Dawson Rodgers heart in the process now her modelling career is over and she has been blackballed in the industry so she has returned to Montana and the home her grandmother left her she plans to be in and out as fast as possible cleaning and selling the home but who is the first person she meets back in town Dawson. What is the secret of the alcove in her grannies home and what is in her grandmother's past that could put her in danger. Will Dawson be able to protect his heart this time and does he really need to or will he finally get his HEA with Annie

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy.
I just love B. J. Daniels. I have most if not all of her books. This one didn't disappoint either. It was full of intrigue and suspense. I loved Annie (Annabelle) and Dawson. Of course all of her heroes are everything you will expect a hero to be. Dawson was no different. I look forward to reading more of this series about the other sisters.
If you love cowboy romances, then you have to read this one. it is a keeper!

I do believe I have been roped in again to another one that will lead into several more. This author knows how to take the characters with having them come off the pages to lead us by the nose. In this one Annie comes back after a declaration years ago. Having been left something with not other way she dives into more than one thing or another. Secrets will be hidden that will find its way out with grandma being center stage in them. Dawson can not help himself but then when love is involved that usually will be the case. Follow these two as a mystery comes to light with pieces to fit in a puzzle that will lead to many of exhilarating reading. Head bumping done so well a chuckle or two can be had also. Captivating from beginning to end another bit the dust for me.

I really enjoy a romance with a bit of a mystery added so this was a fun book to read. It really took me over half the book to even like Annabelle but I did like Dawson. Towards the end of the book, I could see what Dawson saw in her.
I guess I don't relate well to her and when she showed no interest in the mystery of the alcove, it drove me crazy! How can you not want to find out why grandma walled up the little alcove??!
Only negative that I found was that there was no mention of the two intruders at the end so I don't know if they died or they lived. Guess you can tell that I am naturally curious and want answers!
Hope that we will see more of these characters and there will be a series set here or involving Annabelle's sisters. I also liked the bit of Annabelle being black balled and how that was resolved, as it is kind of relevant to similar things happening in Hollywood.

Intrigue , suspense, romance. All in a small town western setting. This is for all the cowboy lovers out there who like suspense with their romance. I would have enjoyed more of a break neck pace from start to finish but it was still a good read overall.

This is a great book. Plenty of intrigue and romance. Held my interest from page one until the last page. If I want to read a good book I can count on B. J. Daniels every time.

Thirteen years ago Annabelle Clementine left Montana and Dawson, the boy she thought she would marry, and never looked back. Now she's returned to the home she grew up in, the house her grandma Frannie left her, her success as a supermodel a distant image in the rearview mirror. If cleaning out her grandma's overly cluttered house isn’t enough, she has to face the only man she's ever loved, who she left heartbroken to pursue her dreams. As she sorts through Frannie's things, Anna quickly learns details of a secret life from years ago that may put Anna in danger. Dawson has always had a knack for saving Anna, from the first time she got stuck in a tree house at age five, but will he be able to save her this time without having his heart destroyed again?
When I think of romantic suspense with a western setting, B.J. Daniels is at the top of the list, so I was delighted to read an early copy of this book (thank you Harlequin and NetGalley). In true Daniels fashion, the suspense is riveting, the mystery intriguing, and the romance is sweet and heartfelt. I loved the small town feel and sense of community, the push and pull of the romance was authentic and entertaining, and the mystery had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the two main characters, as well as the secondary, and the fact that a deceased grandma Frannie held such a pivotal role made things interesting. For a non character, she was pretty entertaining, and quite the crafty old gal. If you love cowboys and enjoy romantic suspense, you can’t go wrong with B.J. Daniels and “Hard Rustler.”

Broken hearts don't mend overnight and that's what Dawson and Annie's relationship started on. Quite an interesting turn of events and such a great read set in a small town with a touch of love.
Thank you Netgalley for the eARC. I'll say that Dawson's brother Luke was overly charming and brutally honest, I reckon his story would be an interesting one!

Great story! Kept me on my toes from the beginning! Second chance romance with action and mystery! What more could you ask for! B.J. Daniels did it again!

I love BJ'S books. I am excited to see what happens in the rest of the series. Only problem last page was partly blacked out

No one writes like B. J. Daniels! This is another outstanding story. Incredible characters and a fresh unique storyline this book has it all! It's a second chance romance with suspense, mystery and chemistry all in a small town atmosphere.

It seems there's always something crazy and exciting happening in Whitehorse, Montana. Oh! And murders too! Hard Rustler by B. J. Daniels is the first book in her Clementime Sisters series. Annabelle Clementine falls on hard times, losing her modeling job and getting blackballed in the industry so she returns home to Whitehorse to sell her grandmother's home after Grandma Frannie's death. The idea is to get in, sell quickly and get out, hopefully without running into many people she knows. The first person she runs into before even pulling into Whitehorse is the guy whose heart she broke when she left town to become a model. Dawson Rogers helps Annabelle out when she runs out of gas on her way to Whitehorse. He knows then and there that he needs to keep ahold of his heart and not let Annabelle, "Annie" in again. What are the odds of that happening? Hmmm....
B.J. Daniels is one of my favorite authors. She always writes a really good story and this one is no exception. I enjoyed all her characters and the storyline. The pace was just right and the suspense thrilling. I can't wait to read about the next Clementine sister.

Wow, I have found so many great, (new to me) authors on NetGalley. This is definitely one of them. It is the first book that I have read by this author but, it definitely won't be the last. This is Dawson and Annie's story. It is a story about second chances. After Annie became what she always wanted, she found out that it wasn't what she wanted anymore or what she needed. Dawson had always wanted Annie but, she needed more. When they are brought back together there is a mystery, intrigue, danger and a second chance for love. This is an amazing story and I would definitely recommend it.

It has been a long time since I read a category romance and I don’t know what I expected when I downloaded Hard Rustler by BJ Daniels. Maybe I remembered liking her books as a teenager. Maybe I was just excited to see a Harlequin under “Read Now.” Whatever it was, it was a mistake. The writing style is fine, although the amount of headhopping is rather dizzying, which makes the story seem rushed. It also has a tendency to “tell” rather than “show.,” taking away a lot of the suspense.

I really enjoyed this story, especially the yearning hero, Dawson: what a fantastic rewriting of the “I-loved-you-for-years” trope showing the longing through the male perspective. This is the second story with this focus on the hero’s desire and aching for the heroine that I’ve read recently and I found these heroes so endearing and sweet, whilst being all male and strong.
I loved how BJ Daniels wrote the rekindling of Dawson and Annabelle passion, in a really slow and smooth way, like the familiarity of old lovers. The relationship and banter between Dawson, his brother, best friend and mother was also
But the plot was great too, I found Frannie’s story funny and enjoyed the kindness and generosity of Dawson and Willie and the rallying family and friends, and appreciated the beautiful Montana setting.

Do we ever really know another person? Grandma had more than her share of secrets. And can you really go back to the past and make a different choice? I think there are choices each of us would rather unmake. Annie has come home to sell her grandmother's home only to find it full of hoarded items. Finding her grandmother was not what she thought is an interesting part of the story. So much to uncover. And who keeps breaking into the house? Then there is the love revisited. Dawson always knew what he wanted. Why didn't Annie?
I appreciate the opportunity to read this book. I thought it was well thought out with enough sizzle and plot twists to keep me reading. Not the first book I have read by this author and sure will not be the last.
