I really enjoyed Cam and Evans these two were High school sweethearts and had not seen each other in years. After her divorce, Cam decides to go back to Timber Creek with her daughter hoping for a fresh start for them both. But within minutes of being back home, she finds herself being pulled over by Evan. This was a great second chance romance and a super start to the series

I’m a sucker for a second chance, so right off the bat this book had my attention. This book also has the advantage of being set in a small town and then adds a former military hero. Two more themes that make my heart beat just the tiniest bit faster. On the whole, I thought this was a fairly sweet, light read. Evan and Cam are both adorable and crazy-making together. Morgan seems to be a typical teenaged girl going through way more ‘stuff’ than any one person should have to deal with at one time. This has book introduced us to a whole cast of characters who I suspect will show up with regularity through the rest of the series, and I look forward to reading more about them.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley.

A cute second-chance romance. I wasn't thrilled that the romance started before one character's divorce finalized. Otherwise, a fun beach read.

Many thank to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

When you truly love someone, you are willing to do anything to make them happy. Even walking away from the best relationship in the world because you feel you’re just not the best man for the job. You know she has always wanted to see what the world had to offer beyond their small town. So, Evan Anderson accommodated and just walked away without a word.
Cam Riley had arrived the next morning after graduation ready start her new life with the man she loved as long as she could remember. But Evan’s mom was the only one there to greet her and it was a chilly one at that. She told her Evan had left and he was never coming back but especially for her.
She was devastated. What about their plans to be married and start a family? Puff he was gone up in smoke. She too figured why should she stay? She packed up and landed in Portland. Sleeps with Ryan and ends up pregnant. They decided to marry out of obligation rather than love. Making it work until it didn’t.
Now almost sixteen years later some good and some not. After years of turning her back on her cheating husband’s affairs he comes out on his weather spot on the news telling the world he is having an affair with his co-anchor and she’s pregnant. He arrives home to say he wants a divorce.
Leaving just enough money in the bank to make it through the month but not in their mansion but back in her hometown. Over Junky’s Auto Shop that has a one-bedroom apartment. So, they pack up and move home to find out the guy who left her back on graduation night, Evan, is now the Sheriff there.
Nature has a twisted sense of humor. Now Cam is having to deal with serving drinks in a sleaze dive strippers bar to make ends meet since there are no jobs in town but that one. The thing that bothers her other than her daughter’s attitude is her ex’s lack of involvement with his Morgan. Choosing the bimbo and unborn child over her.
Cam has returned home to an uncertain future for her and her beautiful teenage daughter who feels displaced and no longer loved by her father. Knowing her mom is the one who has always been there for her has chosen to take all her anger out on her. Because she knows her mom will never leave her.
Causing pain to circle around them like an unwelcome blanket on a hot summer day. Upon her return, she must find a job, get Morgan in school, and avoid Evan at all cost. The last one she just know that now that she knows he knows she’s in town that will be a little hard.
This is a book filled with misunderstandings, lies, trust issues, hurt feelings, teen angst, betrayal, lost love, love on the rocks, and old friendships renewed. The family broken publicly and then the denial of a child can only bring more pain.
I had more respect for Cam working at the dive bar. Then I did at the beginning of the book when she was just hanging on being a trophy wife turning a blind eye to Ryan’s affairs. This way she wasn’t sitting back taking what she overlooked for years from her ex. This an intense read that does have some slow moments but still well worth the read.
I give this: 4 stars. Provided by netgalley.com.

Good riddance to this douche. If I was her, I I would scream about my separation out the window. In front of his office.

It just gets worse and worse.

Not a good idea to ask her out and not give her a ticket in front of her impressionable daughter, even if she is your ex-girlfriend.

Yep, hitting kids is definitely not a good idea these days.

He is so adorable.

The judge is playing matchmaker.

Morgan really isn't a bad kid.

It sounds like two of Cam's friends aren't that happily married.

He's very lenient for a cop.

Did teenage him ever think of using a phone?

Oh boy. Trent is smooth.

I'd sue Stephanie.

Let your son off the teat, Lorraine.

Jess is a bad influence.

Cougar Amber.

It was a fair question.

Naughty policeman.

I hope Drew and Ben figure things out.

This man is so romantic.

I absolutely love When We Left and I immediately fell in love with all of the characters especially Cam and Evan. Cam and Evan were high school sweethearts until Evan left town without telling Can. Cam and her daughter are returning to her hometown after divorce and of course the first person she sees is Evan. Evan and Can were great together and their chemistry together was wonderful. Evan was so supportive of Cam and her daughter. What a great start to a new series.

Once in love, always in live is true for Evan Anderson and Cam Riley even with sixteen years gone by and a divorce and teenage daughter for her.
This is a touching story of how things can go terribly wrong when people interfere and communication is destroyed.
Cam returns to her home town of Timber Creek when she is openly humiliated by her son to be ex husband. With her fifteen year old daughter in tow, the first person she sees is the last one she wants-Evan, her high school boyfriend. There is a lot of distance between them the Evan is determined to cover. He knows in his heart that this is their chance at last.

Sweet read-When Evan abruptly left town years ago, Cam picked up the pieces and moved to Portland. Met a famous newscaster, married and had a kid. Said husband is a serial cheat and just got his co-anchor pregnant. And he wants a divorce. And he doesn't seem to care about Morgan his own daughter.

So Cam moves back to her old town and runs in Police Officer Evan her first day. He's knocked over by seeing her again, of course he knew she married and had a child. He never got over her. And now that he hears she's getting divorced, he wants another chance.

When We Left is full of drama-a teenager who rebels and keeps getting into trouble-a horrible ex (why Cam didn't get a shark for a lawyer and get what she was really entitled to, I'll never know) and two old flames for whom the embers just need a little stoking to get them burning again.

After reading the blurb, I was so excited to start reading this book. I'm a sucker for first love, second chance love stories. After reading so many thrillers recently, I needed something light to read. Something that would make me fall in love with the characters. Something to make my heart swoon. This book definitely was not it. The story was slow and boring. I was ready to put the book down at the halfway point but I soldiered on. The "secret" on why Evan left was dull and uninteresting. I disliked Cam. She was so naive and clueless. <spoiler> Your estranged husband is a local celebrity yet she has to lower herself to live with her daughter in a 1 bedroom apartment above an auto shop and work at a strip joint? And she doesn't think that would be a problem for a teenage girl?</spoiler>

It sounds like there will be sequels to this series but I'm done.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kobo Writing Life for a copy of Elena Aitken's "When We Left" in exchange of an honest review.

I had the honor to read the beginnings of this book a couple of years ago during this authors idea stage, and I must say, it was a really cool experience. Two years later, I get to read the final product, and it’s a pretty good story. Loved Cam and Evan’s history, although having shared so much as teenagers I didn’t like the fact he just took off without having said goodbye to her. Years later she’s back in town with her teenager, headed for divorce after finding out her husband had a very public affair. I loathe cheaters, so it was great to see that Cam took her daughter back to the place where she felt most comfortable, Timber Creek. Loved the small town environment, loved that Cam’s high school friends were still there to be her support system, and really loved that Evan was now the hot Sheriff in town! Didn’t care for the cruel attitude Morgan had, just got kind of old, but after the chain of events it was nice that things settled down. Overall a really good story. Looking forward to reading about Christy and Mark.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Evan and Cam fell in love as teenagers., but Evan had some rough edges and a tendency to get in trouble. Although he and Cam talked about marriage, he didn’t feel ready or like he deserved her yet. He decided to join thr service to make something of himself before returning to Cam. Unfortunately, so sabotage by Evan’s mother led Cam to leave town. She entered a rebound relationship and got pregnant, leading her to marry her baby’s father. Sixteen years later, she is betrayed by her husband and returns to her hometown. She and Evan reconnect as mature adults who fall in love all over again, despite the challenges of parenting a teenager. The author introduced many other characters who will probably star in future books. This was a sweet story that was a relaxing read on a rainy afternoon!

This is actually one of those feel good books. It is not over powering, but it is those kinds, that makes you feel good that you are alive, and you have people that cares for you.

The past between Cam and Evan was a good way to start the series. Its not that heavy, but more on the lighter side of love. Yeah, so there are conflicts but, as you read the book, you can relate how Cam's kid felt. The way the story was told was simple and there are times that i cannot help but laugh,

One of the best things about the book was the set of friends that Cam had. You can see that the paradise each of them had before Cam when away was slowly crumbing and, they are trying to save everything, You can see how much they love each other though,

I give this 4.5 stars,.

A good, fun read. I did not like the fact that Cam and Evan resumed their relationship before Cam's divorce was final and there were times when Morgan's behavior seemed weird and unexpected but... Overall I enjoyed meeting the characters. There was sufficient drama to be entertaining but not so much that you felt overwhelmed.

A sweet story. It is very much like the Harlequin Romance novels. There are parts I found heart warming but there is the drama to balance the story. This is an easy read and is perfect for a vacation read.
