First off, wish & send prayers that DJ rests in peace as she left a long legacy of books to get people started on their paths and crossed the veil a few days before this review was put forth. She has always reminded me of a starter like Cunningham to give the newcomers some positive basic foundations and knowledge to start them on their paths as well as have a few books that are great look up references. I liked this is t=was simple and informative with a few antidotes and an array of herbs and oils that would be great to have on the shelf.

To start with, how eye-catching is that cover? I love it! So onto the book itself...

This book is broken down into the following chapters...
One: Introduction to Magical Folkhealing
Two: Tools Needed For Working with This Herbal
Three: Ancient Herbalists’ and Apothecary Symbols
Four: Ancient Table of Weights and Measures
Five: Folklore Names of Herbs, Flowers, and Trees
Six: Week Days, Planets, and Zodiac Signs
Seven: Herbs and Trees for Magick and Well-Being
Eight: Herbal Combinations for Spells
Nine: Tools Needed for Scented Oils
Ten: What Exactly is Aromatherapy?
Eleven: Oils for Mind, Emotional and Spiritual Matters
Twelve: Creating Special Atmospheres
Thirteen: Some Final Words
Fourteen: Some Book of Interest

Each chapter starts with a pretty chapter title graphic and what follows is quite a bit of information about measurements. Plant names, and their uses. Plants and signs of the zodiac. Celtic trees and months. Spells. Etc. It is certainly a very thorough book on the subject, but unfortunately it was also a little dry. I would have loved to have seen some whimsical graphics and tidbits mixed in between everything.

This book would serve as a great introductory reference for folk-healing beginners as well as a tried-and-true resource for those who are more advanced. Every piece of this book is easy to read and it is very clear to follow. I loved that I was able to read this book and learn a lot about folkhealing and how to use oils and herbs in everyday settings.

A book to be a great reference for many beginners but I felt it fell flat for those more experienced. I tend to be harsh on this genre of books because the market is flooded with horrible books that mislead or confuse people. I will state that I did enjoy this book but for someone more advance I find that it was lacking. Again, another book for those starting their journey and less for those that are experienced looking for a new knowledge/information/challenge.

I absolutely adored this book. The writing was impeccable; both incredibly informative and down-to-earth, making the book easy to read and totally relatable. It was literally everything that I was needing in this moment; I'm fairly certain that I highlighted and bookmarked every other page. I am so thankful to the author for putting this book out there. A new favorite on my bookshelf, a definite recommend, and one that I will reach for again and again.

This book was amazing! I loved it and poured over the entire book since receiving it as a ARC. As a green witch i found it exemplary in its content, education and extraordinarily useful to my practice in my home. Thank you with gratitude for the ARC. My opinion is my own.

This book is for anyone interested in working with herbs and oils. The author includes precious formulas handed down to her by her family. The addition of the zodiac, the planets, and the days of the week and how they relate to plants is very useful. the information on oils and herbs so extensive you will need your own notebook to make notes as you proceed to put into practice all the receipes. I expanded my knowledge on oils and herbs through the author's teachings.

I gained so much knowledge from this book that I enjoyed it in its entirety . I will be buying a hardback copy for myself to use as a guide in my practice. A excellent read highly recommend. Well done to the author and thank you.

My Review: I have loved DJ Conway since I started in the craft forever ago. She is one of the best authors that I have ever worked with (in reading her books) and one that I even wrote to ages ago. This book is a fabulous reference tool for those who are beginners or advanced. If you are looking to get into folk healing then you should totally check this book out. It could not get any better than this!

Magical Folkhealing looks at the healing properties of herbs and their association with horoscopes, planets, and other out of the box examinations. D.J. Conway's extension of the properties of these old remedies through her
Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. different lens was a welcome addition to the magical healing field.

I like that these recipes have been handed down to Conway from her grandmother. So much information is lost from generation to generation so this book is that much more precious.

I recommend this book to wiccans and herbologists alike. It is aimed at beginners to the craft but it has value for practioners of all levels.

Magical Folkhealing by D.J. Conway

This book is absolutely full of so much useful information. I learned so much from reading this. It’s a fantastic reference for anyone interested in working with herbs and oils. It even dives into the zodiac, the planets, and the days of the week and how they relate to plants. I few right through this book and will definitely be buying it when it hits shelves in December. A fantastic reference book!

I really liked this book. It has so much in it to help with all kinds of healing, use of oils and tinctures to name only a few. I appreciated that the recipes were from another generation as well as the present. I think this book should be on else's shelf for use as a tool in magic and as a reference book as well. I highly recommend it. I received this book from Net Galley and Llewellyn for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

I wanted to like this book. The cover and title both appealed to me. However, it didn't take me long at all to learn that the book was NOT what I expected and that it was not what I had in mind. With "magical folkhealing" as the title, I expected to find loads of healing recipes. You can imagine my disappointment to page through the book and learn that there are very few recipes on offer. This is disappointing because the recipes included are helpful. However, even here, there are problems. Terminology one would expect to be explained, like cleavers for example, is left unstated, rendering this book less than useful as a go-to resource for healing, in general.

REVIEW WON'T BE LIVE VIA THE LINK UNTIL 26TH NOVEMBER, DUE TO THE RELEASE DATE OF THE BOOK.

I loved this book! The layout was really good and so was the information it provided. There's a conversion chart in beginning, which will be handy for us Brits as we use Metric. The herbs are both listed with their folk names and common names, which makes the book great from beginners to intermediate. There are recipes from lip balms and makeup removers to teas and herb uses for spells. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of the herbal tea recipes the most, I received an eBook for review but can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy.
