This is the 10th book in the series by my first. I did not have any problems enjoying this book as a stand-alone mystery, although, I may have understood the backstory better if I read previous books in the series. This was a well-plotted mystery with several twists and turns along the way. I never suspected the person who was the actual killer. The characters were wonderfully quirky especially the ghost of the house. I love how the ghosts were still able to contribute to solving the crime. This may have been my first book in the series but it won’t be my last.

I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

Great paranormal cozy read! I enjoyed this mystery though it is the first one in the series that I have read. The author did a good job of informing me of the background and I never felt lost. The humor and the mystery were well done and the characters were eccentric. I look forward to reading this series from the beginning. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Bones Behind the Wheel is the tenth book in the Haunted Guesthouse Mysteries series and the first one I’ve read. Alison Kerby owns a guesthouse that just happens to be haunted. In this particular episode, a buried car, with a skeleton, is discovered in her backyard. Although she is resistant, eventually Alison, her new husband, Josh, daughter Melissa and a menagerie of ghosts become involved in this cold case mystery.

Written with humor, this could be a very entertaining book. However, I found the constant asides from Alison to be a distraction as well as an irritation. A little goes a long way. The plot is a bit convoluted, with lots of moving parts and characters. At times the reader definitely needs to pay attention. There are also a few contradictions in the narrative that can cause some confusion as well. However, in the end, the conclusion is fairly satisfying. Now I would like to go back to the beginning and be properly introduced to Alison, Melissa and the ghosts that haunt the guesthouse.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

It is hard to believe that BONES BEHIND THE WHEEL is the tenth book in the Haunted Guesthouse Mystery Series, the writing and characters are as fresh as ever. Tough I recommend reading the entire series (they really are a treat), this can be read a standalone book. Copperman does a god job of catching new readers up without becoming tedious for long term fans.

This time around, we find guesthouse owner and ghost see-er Alison get caught up in a cold case when a 1970’s era Lincoln Continental, along with the skeleton of missing person Herman Fitzsimmons, is discovered, long buried in her backyard. Even though she protests getting involved, she cannot help but investigate with her resident PI ghost Paul and her husband Josh. Their sleuthing leads then down a twisty path full of humor and danger to discover the truth.

In less deft hands, the complicated plot would be a mess, but Copperman handles it all with ease. I immediately felt invested in the story, making the book hard to put down until I came to the final sentence. The characters are endearing and the plot complex mystery kept me guessing.

BONES BEHIND THE WHEEL is a great paranormal cozy read. Highly recommended.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley and voluntarily shared my thoughts here.

Alison runs a bed and breakfast that is also her home with her husband and daughter. She has other residents that cannot be seen because they are ghosts. When a car is found in her back yard with a skeleton inside the car she is stuck with a case to solve. She doesn't want to work this one so she leaves it to her husband and Peter a ghost.
This was a very fun read. The Author is so clever with his descriptions and jokes included in the story. I laughed throughout the book.

Book number ten and this series is still going strong. Alison, her husband and her daughter share their life in their B&B with a pair of ghosts. Paul was/is a private detective and Maxine is now into decorating. When Alison is having work done on her beach she is not prepared for what is found. Instead of the usual detritus one expects to uncover with a metal detector, they uncover a 1977 Lincoln Continental with something extra - a skeleton. Can't very well call this one an accident so the police start their investigation. Too bad this very cold case has few clues.
I liked the twist that has her husband, Josh, who isn't able to see the ghosts, working on the case with Paul. Alison can resist investigating as much as she wants but, in the end, she has to join Josh, Paul and everyone else and try to get to the bottom of this latest ghostly case. I have read every book in this series and each one has been a delight. This one is, as well. If you are new to the series, don't hesitate to read this one out of order as there is plenty of information to carry you through the mystery. But, be warned - you will have to be prepared to get your hands on the rest of the series and binge read it.

Bones Behind the Wheel by E. J. Copperman is the 10th book in A Haunted Guesthouse Mystery series, and another enjoyable book. I really enjoy this series, innkeeper Alison Kerby and her ghostly friends, keep the action hopping. While smoothing out her beach front property, they discover a 1977 Lincoln Continental buried in the sand. As they dig the car out, they find a skeleton strapped into the car. This book/ series is a fun paranormal cozy series that does not disappoint. I recommended this book/series.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is a very enjoyable humorous cozy series that i always am thrilled to revisit. In this 10th in series the author has another winning story with lots of charming charcters, funny antics and ghost. I loved this book and highly recommend it. I received a ARC for my honest opinion. I recommend this entire series however this book can be read as a stand alone.

Allison Kerby runs a guesthouse that is haunted by detective Paul Harrison. When a A 1977 Lincoln is found on her jersey beach property with a skeleton inside she decides to get to the bottom of the what happened and investigate on her own with secret help from her ghost detective. She has a lot of help from friends and family as well as the ghost. Her husband joins in the investigation which is hampered by the fact that the records dating back to the 70's are non existent.
This was such a fun read with lots of laugh out loud moments and a fun sleuth. I love the setting, the supporting charcters and the plot. I highly recommend this book for your cozy mystery reading enjoyment.

E.J. Copperman has a new book out in a series I love, this one is called Bones Behind the Wheel. I love this haunted guest house series, by far one of the best paranormal series out there and written in such an endearing way. The characters both living and not, are so relatable and feel so real. The mysteries surrounding this magical haunted guest house are enough to make me want to book a week there just to experience the goings on of the crew at Alison's guest house. Even if you don't believe in ghosts, this series will make you truly appreciate all that ghosts have to offer those of us in the living world. I love this series and I loved this book.

Buried treasure on the Jersey Shore
This book is the eighth in a series and the first that I have read. The author's style is to write in the 1st person while constantly making comments to the reader. This took a lot of getting used to and I did not find it amusing at all. In fact, it took away from my reading enjoyment and made it difficult to keep with the flow of the story. Much like listening to a comic who is so busy laughing at his joke that he can't tell the joke (Get on with it already!) I did enjoy the story. The mystery is good, the human characters are easy to relate to, the ghosts, not so much. I think that not being a fan of this 'humor' kept me from really enjoying the book. The beginning of the book was slow, but the ending was very well done. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.

Bones Behind the Wheel is the tenth in the Haunted Guesthouse series by E.J. Copperman, but it is also a terrific starting point, as it explains everything the reader needs to enjoy this paranormal cozy mystery. The reintroduction of the premise, key characters, and setting was much appreciated. Once you get into the double digits for a book series, that’s a must.

The series is enjoyable because of its comedy — innkeeper/detective Alison is fond of the sarcastic aside in her narration, in keeping with the New Jersey setting and attitude — as well as the diverse and entertaining supporting cast: her new husband, her teenage daughter, her mother, and the ghosts. Stoic Paul wants to be a private investigator, while spitfire Maxie has developed an interest in interior decoration.

The twisty mystery in this volume has a car found buried in Alision’s beachfront backyard. There’s a skeleton inside. Was it a murder? Who buried a car decades ago, and why?

This isn’t a classic mystery, as Alison keeps insisting she doesn’t want to get involved, in spite of other people telling her things, but seeing her interactions with other people keep things moving and entertaining. I’m particularly a fan of Phyllis, the old newshound running the neighborhood paper. At times, the investigation seems to be almost an afterthought. Since Alison isn’t interested, her husband (who can’t see the ghosts) teams up with Paul, so they find some clever ways to communicate.

I prefer Copperman’s other mysteries, just because I have a hard time reconciling ghosts being treated as real with a mystery premise, but I do like the spirits for their comic relief.

This series never fails to make me smile and even laugh out loud. E.J. Copperman does a great job of mixing mystery and humor. Bones Behind the Wheel, the tenth book in this series, is no exception. I loved every word of this new book in the Haunted Guesthouse series!

Alison's life is going great...she's remarried, running her guesthouse, loving life...she doesn't have time for murder investigations and dead ghostly detectives. But her resident spirit, Paul Harrison, is having none of that. When an old buried Lincoln Continental is uncovered behind the guesthouse, a skeleton is found inside, belted in behind the steering wheel. And at the very bottom of the hole....something sparkly that might be right at the core of the crime. When Alison is reluctant to help her resident ghost detective solve the case, her husband Josh jumps in to assist. Oh no! A decades old cold case, whizzing bullets, and mayhem make this a fun cozy read...

This series is so much fun! I am never disappointed. Poor Alison....she hoped to retire from helping Paul solve crimes....only to have her new hubby jump in on the game. :) Ya win some....ya lose some. :) The mystery moves along at a steady pace with lots of investigation and funny moments. All in all, a great addition to this series!

As usual the cover art is great! Very eye catching!

E.J. Copperman also writes several other cozy mystery series including the Mysterious Detective, The Asperger's Mysteries (which he co-authors with himself as Jeff Cohen), and Agent to the Paws mysteries.

Received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is full of ghosts and laughs for all. Well written but I feel there are some areas where it is too wordy with some repeating of the same info. The characters are charming and make the story interesting and funny. If you enjoy ghosts and laughs along with a mystery this book is for you. Enjoy! 📚

They are working on the sand behind her house trying to redistribute up and down the beach to make it more people friendly. Her house gets awful busy after they find a car buried in her backyard with a dead body in it...

Crooked Lane Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published January 18th.

She had no idea who the victim was or why he was buried in her backyard. She hasn't owned the property that long. A murder thirty years old is really a cold case so it doesn't look like she's going to get any peace real soon.

This was a fascinating history. There was competition between car dealers, a womanizer, affairs all around, and none of it was adding up.

Alison has the help of ghosts and there's some value to that but it also tends to make her look she's talking to herself. They find bullet holes in the car, bullet holes in her house, an emerald here and there and nobody looks innocent. The killer is the last person you'd expect and the living relatives are willing to do what it takes to keep the secrets secret.

You'll be amazed at how complicated it can be with ghosts and people messing with the facts and the evidence. Alison is trying to work with the chief detective but she's not telling her anything. It isn't long until Alison figures out too much...

This is Book 10 in the Haunted Guesthouse Mystery Series

Alison is running the guesthouse having made it clear she is no longer assisting Paul Harrison, in any more murder investigations. Paul is her resident ghost detective.

But when a simple excavation  in her backyard to help shore up the beach uncovers an old Lincoln Continental with a dead passenger.

Alison's backyard may be off-limits but she is still hosting guests and trying to repair the bullet damage done to her beam in the kitchen when the crew finds a treasure. Now her kitchen is a crime scene. Things are quickly getting out of hand and it doesn't help that now Maxie wants to redecorate the room.

Even Josh is getting in on the investigating having learned how to text to speak to Paul.

It doesn't take long for Alison to put her detective hat back on. But this one may be too much for her, even with her resident ghosts.

These ghosts make the series. They are always evolving and now Maxie is determined to start designing again. And a ghost puppy? Who could resist this colorful and funny group of characters. All living together under one roof. You can read it alone but I warn you you'll go back and read the rest. I am very fond of the way the writer tells the story. It's not traditional, more conversational. Very nice.

Another great book in the haunted guesthouse series. The main character, Allison, runs the guesthouse along with her husband, Josh, her daughter, and the four resident ghosts (1 is Allison’s daughter’s dog). Usually Allison is roped into doing the investigation by ghost Paul (former PI), this time husband Josh is the one who agrees to help find out who the skeleton in the car is. These books are always filled with humor and the mystery is interesting. I like living characters and Paul. Maxie is written to be annoying and is.

I thank the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review

I love this author. It’s the first I’ve read in this particular series but I enjoyed it very much and will go read the others. His books are always fun quick reads. I loved it!

I have read only a couple of the previous books in this series and I had a problem keeping the characters apart at first. They are well developed and the wording moves quickly along. The 10th book of the Haunted Guesthouse did not disappoint there are amusing scenes in the book.
Alison Kerby is returning to the guesthouse from a walk on the beach and is surprised to find that workers had uncovered had dug a huge hole on the beach. In the pit, there is a 1977 Lincoln Continental with a skeleton in the car. The determined the body was murdered. Paul her ghostly detective wants to investigate but Alison wants no part of looking into the matter. Paul convinced her husband and daughter to help him. Alison has arranged to replace the beam in the kitchen was the bullet is wearing the beam.
Will finally convince Alison to become involved in the affair? I highly recommend this book.

I LOVE this series!

Off season on the Jersey shore is generally quiet but no such luck at Alison Kerby’s Haunted Guesthouse. With just three guests checked in and some construction going on along the shoreline, Alison is trying to enjoy a little quiet time…until the crew uncovers a 1977 Lincoln Continental buried in her back yard…and there’s a dead body behind the wheel!

Alison, who can see and interact with her resident ghosts, does not want to get involved with the case, but her husband, who can’t see the ghosts is intrigued and becomes the newest member of the investigation team. But records not being what they were in 1977, and someone who is still alive who wants things to stay buried Alison eventually finds herself working the case when her family is threatened.

Being a cozy fan andJersey girl myself, I love this series. My cousins and I all enjoy the series and have read them all. A great series with strong characters and story lines. Definitely one to add to your must read list if you haven’t yet read these.

This series has been on my radar for awhile and I realized I had a few in my TBR pile, but this was the first one I have read.
Entertaining characters and a whodunit with good twists.
I recommend it and I will definitely read the previous books.
